Oh Bleep you and that bitch of your mother! How long are you going to continue with your stupidity? Did you even bother to read the crap you wrote up there? Denying that no woman has been killed because she wasn't a virgin? Denying that there is nothing as honor killing?

Insult my mother as much as you. I don't give a Bleep coz I'd rather be the daughter of bitch than be a bloody fool like you.

Tufiakwa!
You are mistaken again. I did not say you should not be proud of who your mother is. I was just reminding you.

Are you for real? This is appalling. Why won't injustice continue in the world when there are people like you who are always ready to deny everything evil act perpetuated on women? So because say I never see dead body then make i believe nobody dey die abi?
Tell me exactly where I stated or implied that nobody ever died or that it has never happened before! (Hopefully karma wont start jumping into things like the one-track minded wannabe independent women on NL)

I asked how many of such things have happened. Besides, how many of such has been reported that you know of or read about? Conjectures dont make up events. Conjectures only make matters worse as it makes some idiots contemplate nasty things.

why are you in denial of how things are? If such people didnt exist, women wouldnt be killed for such reasons or are they making all of that up too?
How many of these do you really know?
The western media sells us what they want to sell us. If a man dies in Guinea, the media will report it in such a way that you think everybody in Guines is dying. I have witnessed things in Nigeria reported on western news and was shocked at the amount of grieviousness with which such are reported when those things hardly move the people on the ground.

Karma,
just come inside now and let me quickly take your virginity before any other man takes it. I dont want any man to tamper with yours biko

Justgood, you are the only poster here that have a point. What happens to Men/Women equality if they can go under the knife to please men. Even those feminists here are popping champagne cuz of this deceit. I think they have lost the plot and will hang on anything to deceive us Virgin. grin grin grin
Thank you.
These internet people have a one-way mentality most times. They can only see what majority of other internet users around the world can see. . . a woman does no wrong

I dont want to talk about why that is the case with internet users so i dont get my head chopped off yet. lipsrsealed
CultureRe: Tokunbo (Second Hand) Virgins by JustGood(m): 5:22pm On Feb 12, 2009
The only thing that most of you internet people seem to agree on is that a man who wants an undefiled (sexually) woman.

The woman who choses to marry such a man would not be seen to have done anything wrong. na wa o
CultureRe: Tokunbo (Second Hand) Virgins by JustGood(m): 5:18pm On Feb 12, 2009
Has anyone here ever met a man who says (seriously) he will not marry any woman who is not a virgin?

What is all these talk about when there is actually hardly any man who would say that?

A woman who is ready to lie to marry such a man has to be considered a terrible woman as well and she will get what she deserves from such a man later on in their relationship.
PoliticsRe: No Nigerian Citizenship For British By Marriage by JustGood(m): 5:12pm On Feb 12, 2009
Perhaps you are hard of understanding. . .

Even within UK immigration law there is a provision for couples (where one is British) who have been married for 4 years or more (having lived outside the UK for thistime) to apply for Indefinite Leave to Enter straight away, foregoing any residential requirements. This makes sense for genuine marriages and encourages facilitated integration and naturalisation in my opinion.
ILR is not the same as citizenship. AGAIN, Nigeria has a right to decide what law to enact without copying any other Nation!

Pure babble ignored.
Good. Go and change laws in your country, wherever that may be and let us babble in nigeria.

Is the 4-yr requirement in the UK not too much? who decides what length of time is realistic.
Abeg no be by force to become Nigerian. Many Nigerians also find American conditions very stiff.
FamilyRe: If Your Ex Wants To Marry Your Sibling, What Would You Do? by JustGood(m): 3:59pm On Feb 12, 2009
If your sister didn't know you dated him, you need to let her know. If she wants to marry a man knowing you already dated the man, your family has to be a dysfunctional one.
CultureRe: Tokunbo (Second Hand) Virgins by JustGood(m): 3:54pm On Feb 12, 2009
nah nah nah

@ debosky, it still boils down to one thing. If women feel so liberated, why do they feel the need to decieve men with virginity? I am not referring to anyone whose life might be at stake as a result (I'm sure thats an extreme possibility you included to buttress your argument).

If a woman's life is not at risk for not being a virgin and she decides, that she should have such an operation in order to please a man, she is inadvertently saying that she is bowing to the man's wishes (although deceptively). Whichever way you look at it, a woman who claims to be extremely independent should never be doing this. This is nothing but an admission of being subject to the desires of a man.

CultureRe: Tokunbo (Second Hand) Virgins by JustGood(m): 3:31pm On Feb 12, 2009
@debosky,

The fact that men extol the virtues of virginity does not imply that they are seeking virgins all around the place. . .let's not get anything mixed up.

However, the fact that a woman is willing to go to such lengths to decieve a man shows that she has no self worth and that she is not proud of who she is and whatever she did in the past. If a woman is willing to say that she has the right to shag men as she pleases, should she not be proud to let the men know that she shagged around?

The same women applauding this are the women who always say that women are very liberated and they do what they want. Are they suddenly now doing what men want?  huh

it seems many nairaland women love this idea of being able to sleep around and then pretend that you've never done it before.

One of those who have done it in the past will speak up eventually. if you value it so much, why break it in the first place?

some will probably say its for the men. . .if you're so desperate to please a virgin loving man, why dont you keep the virginity? OR is it just the fact that you are unable to control yourself?

Plum70:
I wished to quote a previous poster's comment (July 2008) about citizenship requiring a residence qualifying period in the country (in this case Nigeria). This is not strictly the case.

My husband is Swiss and we both live in the United Kingdom. By virtue of our marriage alone I am able to acquire Swiss citizenship through facilitated naturalisation after 6 years, as we reside in a foreign county (5 years if we resided in Switzerland). Of course I would need to be able to converse in one of the national languages and show close ties to Switzerland (no problem!). Still, there is no prerequisite to have resided in Switzerland prior to an application for naturalisation.

Same for the French, Italians

It's a shame though that there isn't such a process for the acquisition of Nigerian citizenship via marriage. My husband loves Nigeria, the culture, linguistic diversity and history and would have loved to become Nigerian at some point in the future. It is not about what he stands to gain by being Nigerian, it's more a sense of identity because I am Nigerian. Sadly this may never happen.
Is it not a shame that there is no such route to citizenship in the UK as well? You have to be resident in the UK in order to be granted citizenship!

I dont understand what the problem is with most of those criticising Nigeria for having her own laws as a sovereign nation. the same people are the ones that would tell you they want to be proud to be Nigerias; but they want Nigeria to do everything they see wherever they go. Nigeria has a right to make laws to suit her own purpose and if such a law requires residency before citizenship for foreigners, what is your problem with that?

How many of you have criticised America for their stringent citizenship laws or even said anything about UK residency and citizenship laws?
You are always quick to kill Nigeria for being different habaaaaaaaaa

they dont treat aborigines as human beings. They are the most racist people in the world. they are just trying to pretend not to be so because England is trying to distance herself from racism. Australians used to have the slogan that Australia is for white people. . . they had it till recent years and most of them still have that in their heads. They dont like seeing non-white people.

You mean the man will be eligible for public position after 5 years? Shame on the Nigerian legislators!

Should each one involved in this not be behind bars pending court action? one of the idiots is even allowed to travel abroad using looted funds for treatement while those whose funds have been stolen (the masses) cant get basic medical treatment within the country.

Poor people who have arguments with each other get locked up for weeks by the police but idiots who have conspired to impoverish the nation walk around freely and travel abroad with special privileges.

the man has turned to a hypocrite, worse than our politicians as portrayed here
when did you hear him preach about and practice righteousness, which exalts a nation?
just get rich, no matter who you kill directly or indirectly (embezzling hospital funds for example) along the way.sometimes you wonder if these pastors are not doing bad covers of 50 Cents' song- Get Rich or Die Trying!
I honestly like the man because he looks humble. However, the bolded is something that's baffled me for a long time as well.

He doesn't ever preach about holiness and living righteously. Everything he seems to talk about is directed towards getting material things from God. This explains why there is so much rot in Nigeria. they go to church and they are encouraged to get rich but they never get to hear their pastors tell them they should live righteously. As soon as they step out of the church, they are recieving bribes and commiting crimes.

Christianity is about our spirituality, not about how much wealth we can get; that's what I thought the Bible says throughout.

Everyone on the forum has agreed that Mr. Adeboye is a very infuential person. That 'award' by Newsweek also went to Oprah, Gates, Bin Laden and Blair. While Oprah and Gates have used a lot of their billions to help the poor in America and other parts of the world, Mr. Adeboye's apologetics have decided that he should not do same, rather he should run for president. He is a wealthy man and is not known for his charitable efforts. How best can a man be fulfilled when he helps his fellow humans.

He makes people believe has nothing to loose because he has mansions in heaven or that when Jesus asks him on the last day if he fed him when he was hungry he would say a bold YES. However, his refusal to use his influence and wealth to affect the lives of his poverty striken members makes one wonder if he actually believes in an afterlife. This is a man that believes the poverty suffered by most of his followers is a result of non-tithe payment when everyone else(apart from his believers) is aware of the real reason. He also believes stolen funds in Nigeria can't be traced without divine intervention. Maybe when he becomes president, we would wait for divine intervention for the solution to all our problems.

I would not vote for him as the question posed on the topic of this thread asks because I do not think he is genuine enough to lead this country. Better the scoundrels in power than a new one with millions of people that will kiss his a-hole if he asks them to.
I like this post. . . insightful

However, I am not in Nigeria now so I cant vote for anyone.

It's obvious you married him to get papers and to help yourself achieve something in your life. Good ambition but the wrong way to achieve it.

If you have got your papers, better to tell him the truth. If he wants to leave you, you will have your papers and you can live without your conscience pricking you every night.

If a child needs to be smacked one or twice early on in life, they should be smacked and they will never need to be smacked again; and,the parents will have peace knowing that they dont have to constantly worry about the child.

There's no point in having a child and mortgaging your peace of mind as a result.
