Chuukwudi: Do 2 years Masters Get 2 years post study visa. This is legit 4 years...
On your 2rd year of post study visa, you apply for another. If it's Master's, you have 2 years for study plus another two years... Post study visa.
If you decide to do PhD, you will have 3 years post study visa instead of 2.
This will be running into legit 8 to 9 years
You might want to get married and be your wife's dependant. I'm not sure that is correct. |

I know this request is a little bit off but I will be resuming in Bournemouth University by next month for my Masters Degree. I am self sponsored and with the situation of things right now especially with corona virus, I know it might take me up to 3months to fully settle or get myself.
So I would be happy if any Nigerian abroad can help me with this budget or better still help me look for a way to get an accommodation which is not more than 200 pounds per month.
I will be glad if anyone comes through for me LegitBoyy: Yeah but economic realities from then is different now plus my parents are my sponsors. E get as e be shaa |

kode12: @justwise @lexusg430 I need your thoughts. A friend came to the UK on a Tier 4 visa in September and was randomly applying for some permanent roles to test the water and see how employable he is. Now he’s got a company that has the ability to sponsor him on a T2. Is it possible to switch visa completely before the 3 months to the end of course rule? If he’s able to combine work and school, can he continue with the masters program while working full time on the Tier 2 visa? Bad idea, to start with..he can't work full time during term time and the company will not even take him on that. Let him speak to the company about his situation, ask them to allow him take up the employment after graduation. He will be breaking his student visa rule if he takes up this employment while still on student visa I'm surprised though that the company is even willing to employ him while still on student visa..maybe he did not give the company all the info. Let him do things the proper way to avoid regret pretty soon. |

LagosismyHome : I believe if we are good and honest at what we do then time will help us change the narrative of preference....... but if we come and focus on negative things such as how to cheat the system, and many other nonsense then hey........ The ball is in our hand. Sadly there still some many bad eggs among the good eggs due to years of wrong orientation in naija. Even little thing such as student visa , I read some things our people do with agents and just smh, a lot lie when there even no reason for thatI agree with you but it goes deeper than that , EU citizens here commit some hideous crimes but still they will not struggle to get a job as much as Nigerians or Africans. Yes changing out fraudulent behaviour will definitely go along way. |

RalphJean: This statement is CATEGORICALLY untrue. There is ABSOLUTELY no evidence to back it up.
The Only 'evidence' is that it was happening by virtue of the UK being a member of the EU. I can prove that I had previously been denied a job (which I was more than qualified for) because I hold a Nigerian Passport. What no one can prove is that EU citizens will ALWAYS get preferential treatment post-Brexit. Why are disagreeing with me when the highlighted part of your post just confirmed what I said. You are over qualified but they did not take you because they preferred someone else...probably white / European. Is not because you are holding Nigerians passport because if they really want to give you the job they will despite the passport you are holding. |

icon8: See reasoning If you really believe that, then you’re certainly suffering from inferiority complex of the first degree. Do you also believe that EU citizens are and will always be better than you, simply because of your ethnic background? Abeg, take your self-defeatening outlook outta here! Slow down here, is not about how good you are, it’s about preference which is largely influenced by race. Nigerians among the most educated immigrants across western world but that does not translate to job opportunities or holding higher positions. It’s a waste of time arguing this when In 2020 we still hear something like: the first black person to be appointed for this, the first black person to hold this position bla bla bla. You can shout as much as you want but when it comes to preferential treatment Nigerians/Africans is at the bottom league table. The UK leaving the EU will not change much in that regard. |
Travel › Re: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by justwise(mod): 7:53am On Dec 28, 2020 |
LagosismyHome: The EU was created to give preference to member state over other nationalities so what wrong with Nigerians wanting to have the same preference with a fellow Immigrant.
EU immigrant and Nigerian immigrants, all na migrant . Time will tell if UK will strive now that it's out of the EU. I believe they would continue to strive and do well independently...... forget about stats or polls . Those are not always accurate
And if that creates a more level playing field for my people then why not..... Don't hold your breath on that sis, EU citizens will always get preferential treatment over Nigerians/Africans. |

Temitopepremium: First of all, I really want to thank you all for the selfless work being done here, Is only God that can reward u with great blessing. Secondly, I would like to ask that can married couple apply separately for tier 4 visa wife and husband would be going for bsc degree and MSC respectively?. Like my earlier post that I posted I wrote that I would love to pursue a degree in Nursing, but I dont know which one to choose either bsc or msc but I was advised that I wont be able to practise back home If i go with msc pre registration. So we have made a conclusion that both should apply differently because I dont want marriage to affect my dream vice versa. So my question is can we apply differently as an independent applicant? Thank you . Yes you can and you can also apply together with no prob at all as long you can meet the financial requirement. |

kaylov12: Hello, @justwise, @mimilyrics I am here for advice. I am already in the UK for my PGCE course and i must confess it's really tedious. I never expected the the degree of shock I'm still in and i miss my family so much. I was about commencing the dependant visa when a thought struck me, i thought it would be better i invite my family to come visit instead since i have barely 8 months on my visa and the cost implications aren't comparable . Although, they can still do the dependant route but i prefer they don't spend so much on visa and IHS. I also thought to have my husband's niece come over to help with the kids. I would have preferred going home but i can't due to the nature of my course, it runs alongside the sec school calendar and breaks are averagely 2weeks before the Summer holiday. Can i please get opinions, i don't want to complicate their application. I terribly miss home and it's having a toll on my mental health. Thank you. I really understand how you feel, sure you can invite them though i'm not sure about the idea of including your hubby's niece |

I wouldn't know the type of visa he applied for but I know he's not a citizen
He has relatives in the UK I guess that is where those kids are and he will leave them there and return to Nigeria. She needs to contact the embassy as soon as possible and give them as much info as she can. She can also take this to twitter and tag the embassy and other children welfare charities Child issue is taken seriously by the UK govt |

The kids will not be banned, the dad will and possibly for a very long time |

AltCtrlDel: Pls what would you advise or what step can she take? I've gotten her to put up the story on Nairaland and Twitter. The topic is currently on the front page but no meaningful submission.
She has informed the police too but they are demanding for money before they will act I asked about consent letter because the UK embassy takes child welfare seriously and i'm expecting such letter to be added to their visa application. If he forged one then its a serious immigration offence. She needs report to the embassy with his full name and that of the children. Does the husband have family in the UK? What type of visa did he apply for? I'm struggling to be believe that the man travelled with those kids without any sort of written authorization from the mother and was not questioned at the POE |

TheGuyFromHR: There are no real benefits for the UK's leaving the EU, because generally the UK gave up the benefits of a huge free trade area for less than it already had. It was an emotional move, not an economic one. As for any disadvantages, if you have no business with the Continent and as you have just arrived, you will not notice anything, there will possibly be some price rises here and there to absorb the consequences of all those border checks, most disadvantages will take time to show, but there are no advantages whatsoever. I think there is though i voted to remain but leaving the EU will gave the UK the opportunity to trade freely with countries outside the EU and still maintain some deals with the EU. |

icon8: I’ve literally been begging everyone I know in Nigeria (skilled professionals, of course!) to make relocating to the UK their priority in 2021. It’s high time they gave cold and snowy Canada a break and give UK a chance. Opportunities here would be massive in 2021, from PSWV to HSMP.
I predict a massive brain drain and mass exodus of EU professionals, which would lead to opportunities for suitably qualified non-EU citizens, including high flying Nigerians.
If you believed that then you will believe anything. EU citizens are getting permanent/citizenship already. Many have settled here already and will not be in a hurry to leave after Jan. |
