Ikky2020: Thank you for all the replies. God bless you all. I don’t intend to wed him here but come back home in May to do so. So I will have a look at the form on line and see if it’s doable from here. He has travelled before and stayed in Amsterdam for four years on study visa but long time ago, he has also been to Uk and Canada from work. I will confirm from the man if the cost was for prime time or not. Thanks once again all of you. Really appreciate. I will probably be back once we get married and ready to make the spouse application. Ps: someone told me the Ikoyi registry is the only one recognised in Lagos? How true is this? Don’t allow agent to ruin your fiancé immigration profile especially with the spouse visa application coming up, you or your fiancé can apply from any location. |

I am a prospective PhD student in the UK. I will be leaving October, 2020 by God's grace but, the issue I have presently is that I will be obviously pregnant before the interview date. I have never done such interview before. Do they allow pregnant PhD students for interview?
I will be very glad if I can get a reply please. This is so urgent. How many months pregnant? |

Calypso1234: Good day @Justwise & all the gurus helping people on this thread, please I have a question o. I did biometrics on the 5th of Dec, application transferred to DMC same day & application receipt acknowledgement on the 11th Dec. I got a call from the home office in London on the 19th from a UK phone number, the guy said he tried calling my HR office to confirm my work documents which I submitted but the line ain’t going through & requested that I give him alternate numbers to call which I gave him & also told him to keep trying the number in my application form & that the number is correct, he asked me to call it out & I did. I also told him that my company has its head office in London & that he can also double check the authenticity of my docs from them. He told me that’s a great idea. Please is this a good or bad sign? I have never read on this thread that Visa Officers call applicants for such. Non of that, simply means that they are processing your application, it could turn out anyone. |

Ikky2020: @justwise. My fiancé is applying for a visiting visa in January to the Uk. He is a contractor and has a closing balance of 7+M in the business Acct, with over 2M in the personal Acct. He is applying for 6 months visiting as we plan to wed in May 2020. I am settled here with a good job and my own house. I hold a British passport. We got introduced to a guy that a close friend has used several times in processing Uk and shenge visa. He gave a list that included 98k for visa fee, 30k as uploading fee, 50k as users fee, 40k hotel and tickets etc. I was surprised and brought to his attention the home office visa fee of 12something dollars, less than 50 k. He gave me loads of excuses and maintained the embassy has all this hidden charges. Officially we have a list of what is needed to apply for a visa, please can you give me a list of what is needed? Also why insist on hotel and ticket reservations ? Is that the norm? My fiancé is 58yrs old with a good Business in Nigeria. Please @justwise and the very knowledgeable team of helpers, give me pointers for this application. Thank you all and happy celebrations. That is just a ripoff, this is what you or your fiancé can do under an hour online . You need send him an invitation letter, data page of your British passport, mortgage papers, bank statement etc He needs to submit his business documents, papers to contracts he has done mostly recent ones, his business account and personal ones and property or car if he has any of those. State exactly how many days or weeks you want him to stay in the UK but avoid anything longer than one month. If he is the only sponsoring the trip then he has to draw a budget for the trip and briefly state what he will be doing during his visit to the UK. There is no need to add cost of accommodation in that list, just cost of flight since he will be staying with you. Getting married in the UK is out of the equation, it has to be done in Nigeria. |

LagosismyHome: Of course I understand the intention of the money and the purpose of the requirement . Ideally nobody should fall out of status and should be self sufficient for at least one year
However there is no where on the official guide does it says the money should be in place after those 28days . There is if you take your time to read the guidance |

LagosismyHome: I see this comment but is this evidence based.... the rules states the money in the account for 28 days.
That's all...
are we Nigerians the one adding pepper and salt to the rule that the money cannot be touched . No you are wrong, that money is to be spent in the UK and not just to show for 28days then use it, the maintenance money or school fees or both are specifically budgeted to be used in the UK |

davide470 : Sterling Bank does it through their i-invest. ( https://i-investng.com/) Also, almost all the top i-banks in Nigeria have an online platform to invest in T-bills (be you home / abroad). For abroad, you have to notarize your utility bill and passport (if foreign).Interesting..i will explore this and see how it goes. Thanks for the info |

Aphrodite007: To the best of my knowledge no, it can’t be done online. Someone has to walk into the bank on your half to do it. When you do it the first time, you can then manage it (re-invest) online.
If you have filled an indemnity form with your bank (I think that’s what it’s called) you won’t have to walk in physically, you will just contact your bank via email to make investments on your behalf. That is my understanding, was trying to know if things have changed |

Royalejr: Well I think you can write an instruction (signed) directing the bank to book TB at prevailing rate for you and debit your account for it. Then scan and send to the relationship officer managing your account (if u don’t have their contact, send a mail to contact Centre of the bank - they should get it for you) This makes logical sense but then again we are talking about Nigeria here, thanks though. |

That shows that the money is not there for the trip and you are misrepresenting your situation |

jamela: That's what I'm not sure of. I know for sure I can't do another masters in a science field because it wouldn't demonstrate academic progression (considering I already have a science PhD). While an MBA is more business inclined. I would like to know if I can still do an MBA given my circumstances. PhD is the pick of anybody's academic achievement and you should be proud of that, MBA is a step back from where you are in my opinion. I suggest you go through work routes and don't worry about the remaining one year, with your academic achievement + work experience your chances of landing another job is higher. |

jamela: Hi thanks for your response Justwise,
If the new 2 year PSW will be applied directly to the Tier4 visa when its initially granted for the MBA, then I see why it would take me past the 8 year study limit, and hence I wont be getting it. but if i am issued with 18months only Tier 4 visa and required to apply separately after completion of the course for the PSW, then I should be safely within my 8 year limit right? (I am not currently studying, as i'm on DES, my current total study period is 6years5months and I still have 19 months before I use up the 8 year study cap).
I know Tier 2 is what everyone says, but I am worried about where to get the 1 year from if the employers refuse to extend past the 3 years. Also I have heard to switch to another Tier 2, the new employer needs to conduct RLMT. So I might as well just do the MBA for 18 months, start PSW and get any job i want free of sponsorship and RLMT for 2 years then apply for ILR. Then that is an added advantage but can you do MBA as a PhD holder? Have asked around about that |

jamela: Hi Justwise and good fellows in the house,
I am currently on my Doctorate Extension Scheme visa after completion of my PhD. The following is a summary of my situation.
Summary: Point 1: I'm currently enroute a comfortable 6 years in UK continuous residence and hope to make the 10 year ILR. Point 2: I have spent 5 of this 6 continuous years studying without breaks. the 6th current year is on a Doctoral extension scheme (1 year visa) expiring next year. Point 3: I now need to earn 4 years more to qualify for the 10 year ILR.
However, Point 4: The UK has an 8 year maximum study cap. As I have also held a previous (since expired) tier 4 visa on a masters course for 17 months (i.e the standard 1 year 5 months visa), it doesn't count towards continuous residence now. This is because I went back to Nigeria after I completed it and spent more than 180 days there before returning to the UK to study again. Even so, this study period is still counted by the UK Home Office as 1 year 5 months used towards the 8 year study cap.
Therefore, Point 5: My total study period in the UK so far adds up to 6 years 5 months, which leaves me with 19 months (1year 7 months) left to use on the 8 year study cap. (but remember point 3 above).
At Present: I learnt about the return of the Post study work scheme, though it isn't yet in effect, I heard it would only be valid for those graduating from 2021 onwards.
My Intention: I plan to leave the UK after my DES expires next year for 6 months and return in less than 180 days to start the MBA. (This gives me 6 months of continuous residency even though I wouldn't be present in the UK for that time as long as I return within 180 days).
After the MBA programme: 6months (outside UK) + 18 months (MBA) = 2 years Post study work visa = 2 years This adds up to the 4 years that I need to qualify for ILR.
Questions: Will the new PostStudyWork visas start automatically after 2021 Masters completion, or these would have to be applied for? Is it possible for me to apply for an 18 month MBA course, even though I now have a PhD? Does anyone know any UK universities that offer 18 month MBA programmes that begin in March/April 2021?
Would there be any issues with my current situation and intentions above? Other suggestions are welcome. You have a very good understanding of the rule regarding 8yrs limit but i don't think your intention will work. If the rule is followed strictly you will not be able to get MBA admission but if you do then getting a visa will be an issue because that will give you more than 8yrs duration in the UK. If you can get a tie 2 job that will be your best bet, with 3yrs tie 2 visa you are closer to ILR than gambling with MBA route. |

mascot87: Oh really, so you have been stalking me for more than a year begging? That's very interesting. If u experience one quarter of what I have experienced in life, you probably would have been dead by suicide now but what do you know. Seating at your comfort zone and dishing out insult because you think you can. When life hits you and you experience the other side of life, you will get sense. Then you will know that even when you have a job that pays you more than 500k monthly, you will still be living a miserable life. I honestly blame those who are encouraging lazy bones like yourself by sending money to your account each time you come online with many IDs to beg. You are not the only one going through hard time, Once you get used to receiving money from a total stranger online while doing absolutely nothing you will never stop begging because you don't work for that money. You have money to buy data for online begging but you don't have money to buy food to eat. How can a grown up adult spent more than a year online begging for money to eat? Have you no shame? Where is your dignity? |

mascot87: justwise, you insulted me yesterday and banned me till 2021 because you think I am a professional begger. I curse you today that all that I have gone through in life should befall you. You will cry and you will see no one to console you. Oh you think I enjoy my present condition right? justwise, you will experience everything I have experienced then you will know what life is. Just because everything is going on well for you then you think you can mock others that are struggling with life. But if everything I say happen to me till the extent that I beg people for feeding, justwise, you can never escape this curse that will remain permanent in your life. Your useless curse has no effect on a dead body let alone a living being, use the time and the data you spent begging online to look for a job, any job to earn a living. its more dignifying than constantly begging, you have being doing this for more than a year now. |
