Question1: Please help me!!
I just received a refusal letter today for short term student visitor visa(6 month). i actually applied for summer school @ King's College London to study Ancient Greek Language(Coz its Cheaper)
To start with, I am a level 300 Student studying Economics with computing.
The ECO start reasons for my refusal;
1; You have stated you are a non working student at Regent University. I NOTED THAT U HAVE SUBMITTED EVIDENCE OF YOUR STUDIES AND A LETTER FROM YOUR UNIVERSITY STATING THAT YOU ARE A 300 LEVEL STUDENT ON THEIR BSC DEGREE ECONOMICS; I AM NOT SATISFIED THAT THE DOCUMENTS SUBMITTED DEMONSTRATE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN YOUR CHOSEN COURSE IN ANCIENT GREEK LANGUAGE AND YOUR CURRENT COURSE IN ECONOMICS.
2. YOU HAVE ALSO STATED THAT YOUR TRIP WILL BE SPONSORED BY YOUR LEGAL GUARDIANS WHO HAVE BEEEN TAKING CARE OF YOU. YOU HAVE SUBMITTED A LETTER OF SUPPORT FROM *HUSBAND&WIFE(MY GUARDIAN) WITH A BANK STATEMENT IN THEIR NAME. I AM NOT SATISFIED THAT THE DOCUMENTS SUBMITTED ADEQUATELY DEMONSTRATED THAT THEY HAVE ANY LEGAL GUARDIANSHIP OVER YOU, NOR DO THEY DEMONSTRATE THE ORIGIN OF THE FUNDS IN THEIR ACCOUNT. I AM THEREFORE NOT SATISTFIED THEY THEY ARE FOR YOUR EXCLUSIVE USE OR THAT YOU HAVE ADEQUATELY DEMONSTRATED YOUR CIRCUMSTANCES. I AM THEREFORE NOT SATISFIED THAT YOU MEET PARAGRAPH A57C(b) of the migration rules.
FUTURE APPLICATION
Any future UK ViSa applications you make will be considered on their individual merits, however you are likely to be refused unless the circumstance of your application change.
Please advice me on what document to provide, I want to re-apply for the VISA next week because the summer school starts June 27. Na waoo for you ooo.... You are currently studying economics and computing and you are applying to study Ancient Greek in London? How do they relate? You are using a sponsor as your legal guardian without legal paper to prove that? |

phardey: Are you saying she shouldn't reapply.
Because I just applied and submitted now. She's meant to go for her appointment on thursday in Ikeja I'm not sure the ECO contacted them. Government workers in Nigeria are known for their Laziness. I'm not saying you should not reapply but you need to be absolutely sure that the document your lawyer CAC is genuine. If at all the embassy contacted them concerning the business then they must have had a reasonable doubt about it. |

phardey: This is the time she used the business in her application. Business name was registered in Dec 2012. She hasnt travelled to the UK for about 6 years.
She was a frequent traveler to the UK between 2004 and 2010. She and my dad used to apply together. Ok, you can write the embassy with the document but make sure that the document is genuine since the embassy contact the same organization and was told that your mum is not the business owner. Is the case of proving that she owns the business if that is the only reason for refusal |

phardey: Hmmm People after inviting my mum here to the UK in April. I've been too depressed to come back since her refusal. I was too weak ... I swear I supplied everything, bank statements, payslips, utility bill. She was refused. The ECO claimed she doesnt own her business. She's a self employed food caterer that has worked with KFC and Mr Biggs.
The ECO said she all her future applications will be refused till 2026 because the ECO believes she mis represented herself. ECO even said they confirmed At CAC that she's not the owner of the Business.
I con weak... The business name was registed in DEC 2012 through a lawyer. It was indeed registered in her name.
So, aside from all the proofs we submitted before.
We've gotten a Nigerian Immigration lawyer here in the UK who also used his contacts to get information from CAC that the owner of the Business Name to write a letter to them. The bank she banks with has also issued her a lteer stating the account/Business name belongs to her because they confirmed from CAC before opening the account for her. Her recent bank statments then a letter from CAC confirming she's the sole propertior of the company. A letter from me her sponspor explaining to them she's the owner of the business. A letter from her saying she owns the owner and an affidavit stating she owns the business.
We hope to re-apply this week. Has this happened to anyone before?
@justwise... abeg help me oh 1.Did she include the same business document during her first application or was this the first that business is been used for visa application ? |

YOLO1: Please can anybody here tell me the steps to take to travel out of the country. I am from a very poor family with no record of any member of my family outside the shores of this country. I am a degree holder and I have some apprenticeship skills also (barbing and tailoring). I just need to leave this country to search for greener pastures to cater for my immediate family. This suffering is too much. Am not in search of a specific country neither am I in search of a specific job there. Just need where I can have enough to remit to my aged parents and siblings back home. Thanks as you constructively contribute YOLO1: Good day guys. My mum just collected her gratitude after 35 years in civil service and she has been looking for ways to spend it on me as the last born. Her initial plan was for me to go abroad for my M.Sc since I finished with a good grade in school but I refused cos I am of the business-minded type and also getting a M.Sc is not a criteria for getting a good job in Nigeria. An idea just struck my mind when I went to refill gas for her at a retail outlet about investing in LPG plant. A major reason why am also considering this Idea is the fact that we have a parcel of land on a major road which I consider a strategic location for the business. I would like experts / investors / and experienced people in this field to please enlighten me more on what it takes to start up the business, how to go about it and most importantly how profitable it is. As I won't want to waste my mum's money as I have even promised myself to repay her on a monthly basis as soon as I start. Thanks as you contribute How can you claim to have come from a poor family if your mum can afford to send you abroad for Msc and have parcel of land in a good location? How can a millionaire be regarded as poor? |

IF an upcoming footballer 17years of age wants to enrol in a soccer academy in the uk, what procedure does he need to follow? will his stay in the uk be limited based on his visa? will a budget of 3million naira be enough for the trip and enrolment fee? and are there any plan for soccer scholarship in the uk? and how long does he need to stay in the uk before he get his work permit? Don't be a victim, no such college in the U.k for foreign students |

She was pregnant and was going to see her mum ...her visa was immediately revoked ... They said her offense was that she did not inform them that she was pregnant during her submission ... ( she got a 6 months visa ) her first attempt . Now she's trying to reapply again ... Please what are her chances ? Should she seek the help of an immigration lawyer ? Thanks . Let her apply and explained what happened a year ago and try as much as possible to meet all requirements. There is nothing an immigration lawyer will do for her a year after the incident |

At what point do I need to inform the embassy about our change of intent? Do I need to b this explicit in the mail including the POE change? Thanks in advance for the assistance. purpleblood: Hi guys, It's a long one, but apologies. I might have the opportunity of coming to torrance in California for a factory training on aircraft maintenance in October. I am not working, I don't have much ties in Nigeria, but I was able to bargain with a company where I worked before to back me up as they have been sending people for the training. So they have accepted on the condition I will pay for the course through them, and they will give me supporting documents that will show that they are the ones sending me for the course. This course would actually improve my chances of getting a job in Nigeria, but that is under probability considering the condition of Nigeria. I am a licenced aircraft maintenance engineer in nigeria. But I never had the opportunity to secure a job. My plan now is to do the course in carlifornia, convert my licence to FAA (American licence). And get a job in the US. I know it's not going to be that straightforward considering the immigration hurdles, work permit and all that. Right now, my parents are still the ones sponsoring me. They have spent all their savings to ensure I got Nigerian licence. They even have to get loan to pay for this course. Right now, I am at the stage of visa application. My questions now are: 1. What are my chances of getting a visa considering that the company is backing me. (The company are the only dealers of this aircraft in Nigeria at the moment). 2. What kind of visa am I expecting? What could be the validity? And what are my chances of getting a work permit with such visa? 3. What are my chances of getting something small to be doing (hustling) and survival without much money and with this visit visa. 4. Do you think it's worth risking? I have roughly 1.5million naira ($4000 USD) now for the whole thing. Course fee, Visa, flight ticket might take up to $2000USD purpleblood: 2. With the current economic situation in Nigeria, I don't think hustling is my best bet. I can loose 1.5million, and start all over again. 3. I'm sure I will get more money from family and relatives if I secure visa. Just that for now, they are still skeptical about my ability to secure a visa with the plan. You don't seem to remember your previous posts |

Pholy: Thanks Justwise, i have already filled that form. My issue is unlike UK and USA applications, Canada does not allow family applications for a visiting visa . my real fear is that i would want our visa decision outcome to be the same that's why i don't want to apply separately via the online route.
I will probably take your advice and apply via paper route. Bro that is not true. Put all applications in one folder and submit |

bigtt76: I understand you... we or she can't really say what the uncle's plan is for her or will evolve into. To me best she applies for the visa through the uncle's invite, God willing, she gets it, travels down, discuss at length with the uncle to further the plans.
Shunning the offer might spite the uncle... if you know what I mean. That will not easy, the moment she gets to Canada the waiting game starts and nobody in Nigeria will support her idea of coming back, family and her uncle will turn against her. It's pointless telling somebody to start a life in foreign country on the wrong part then wait for miracles. She is not uneducated or somebody with nothing to look forward to that you will say...well it's better to suffer in Canada since you got nothing in Nigeria. |

bigtt76: Apply for the visa with the invite and see how it goes.
While it might look risky on the long term, you don't know if your uncle wants to assist with the Masters tin too as a path for you to relocate finally.
Bottomline, don't shun your uncle's offer.
On the other hand, you can start building your software programming career here through the likes of ccHub, Andela etc. So many startups are being groomed daily through those places. If that is the case why did he not bring her through education? |

That is fine, you are on the right course and with that skill you will be fine, traveling to any country with the wrong visa type and hoping to live and study legally is a very silly decision. You are far too young to gamble away your time. Look out for scholarships while you develop your software programming skills. |

I recently got an offer from my uncle to apply to Canada through an invite, and we would try to sort me out when I get there.. Basically I would love to go through masters so I can also invest in my career over there and I am not sure of the invitation thing.. What if I get stuck over there... And takes me years to finally get on track and i end up wasting a lot of time.. Or I stay and hope for a fruitful career here in Nigeria? I do not like the whole idea of relocating through an invite. .. Please advise me nairalanders... Sorry to say this but you are wiser than your uncle. Go through masters if you can afford it but don't waste your precious life and time going through IV. |
