PoliticsRe: Rivers Govt Officials Shun Chief-Justice’s Valedictory Ceremonies by kawkab: 11:27am On Aug 20, 2013
Even though his preferred candidate was not approved by the National Judicial Council, Ameaechi should have least sent his deputy and the State Attorney General to attend the ceremony. This kind of action is cable of further making him loose support in certain quarters in the State.
PoliticsRe: Senate Declares Airport, Kubwa Roads Death Traps by kawkab: 8:47pm On Jul 30, 2013
This is total BS.

There are very few roads in Nigeria that can match the quality of work and standard that those two roads present. I drive them every blessed day in Abuja and there are no issues.
The only problem has to do with the ATTITUDE OF DRIVERS who have utilized the extremely smooth surfaces of these two roads to turn them into race tracks. How for instance can a driver be speeding at 140km per hour on a road with high vehicular traffic and not expect something bad to happen?

How many of our drivers even know how to interpret the road signs that the DRTS has graciously placed on all roads in the FCT? I bet Senator Smart Adeyemi himself will not be able to identify half of them.

He should be more concerned with the dualization of the road that leads from Abuja to his own state, and the one that criss-crosses his senatorial district on the way to the South-West.

One is tired of all these sensational politicians!
Thank you my brother or your post. I live in Kubwa and commute daily to my office in Wuse on these road. It is necessary that posters and nairalanders realise the following;

1. there are few roads in Nigeria that can match the quality and standard of the Kubwa and Airport Road in Abuja.
2. A greater percentage of the accidents on these road are man made.
3. The vehicular and human traffic on these road are relatively high due to towns spawning the sides of the road. E.g. along the Kubwa
Express way we have, Kagini, Kubwa, Dutse, Galadima, Gwarimpa, Gishiri, Katampeetc. as such we have people crossing the roads a lot of times. Along the airport-lugbe road, we have such towns like Galadimawa, Pykasa, chika, Lugbe, Gosa, Sauka etc

4. Accidents happen on these roads for the following reasons;
- Over speeding. People driving at 140km/h on such roads.
- inexperience - a lot of folks in abuja would just buy a vehicle even without knowing how to drive. When you see them in the next
one week, they would have removed the learner sign and claim that they are now good at driving.
- Flagrant disregard for defensive driving rules such as, safe following distance, overtaking appropriately etc.
- Alcohol and substance abuse - the accident rate on these road are usually very high on weekends. It is rare to drive through
these two roads on a Saturday morning without seeing accident-ed or tumbled vehicles probably from drunk drivers coming from
parties the previous night.

If you live in Abuja you would know that the accidents on these roads have nothing to do with bad design but purely human error.
PoliticsPolice Parade Bishop Nwabueze Over Alleged Rape by kawkab(op): 6:32am On Jul 03, 2013
By JIMITOTA ONOYUME PORT HARCOURT —

Chairman of All Bishops in Rivers State, Bishop Chibuike Nwabueze, who was arrested for allegedly raping a 15-year old girl, was paraded, yesterday, by the state Police Command. The Bishop, who confessed to the crime before newsmen, said he was hypnotised, adding that he was set up by the pastor of the church where the incident occurred. He denied raping the underage girl, but admitted that she removed her clothes after he finished praying for her in the office and before he could shout ‘the blood of Jesus,’ he was already all over the girl. The Bishop said he was set up by his fellow Bishop, who was also contesting for the post of Chairman of All Bishops in the state with him.Nwabueze, who was paraded at the Rivers State Criminal Investigation department, SCID, Port Harcourt, said anybody could have fallen a victim of what happened to him.He described as untrue, allegation that he made the girl abort a pregnancy from the incident. According to him, it was the girl’s father that did it but he took care of of the bill.He said: “We have different Colleges of Bishops. I am the Chairman of Communion of Bishops in Rivers State. Well, what actually happened was a set up. It was set-up by my enemies. The man who is in-charge of where I went to minister is my enemy. He is the person that set me up.“He invited me to his church for a programme and afer the programme, he set me up because of what we are dragging. We are dragging the chairmanship of the communion and that was why he set me up. But to my greatest surprise, on the said day and after I had prayed for her, the girl started pulling off her clothes and before you knew it, I had carnal knowledge of her.” -

Lai Mohammed should recall that in one of his press briefings he made the following statements;

" the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) described the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as a “big-for-nothing dysfunctional family that practises political cannibalism, hence its spiraling descent into ignominy”. In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary Lai Mohammed, the party proclaimed that anyone calling the PDP a “big family, united in freedom” may be suffering from hallucination.

Lai should remember that no one has the monopoly of the use of vulgar words

EducationRe: Anambra University Shut Over Killing Of Female Student by kawkab: 9:28am On Jun 06, 2013
Why is it that any time students of tertiary institutions in Nigeria want to protest; they always resort to blocking federal Highway thus impeding the movement of goods and persons. It is not always the best option. Though it may be that they want to get maximum attention.

Other alternatives should be adopted.
PhonesRe: Samsung S3 vs Tecno Phantom A (f7) by kawkab: 3:28pm On Jun 05, 2013
Please the poster should kindly note that Samsung Galaxy S3 has been globally recognised as one of the global leader in smartphone/android platform until the introduction of the likes of Samsung Galaxy S4, HTC One, and Sony Xperia Z. Tecno is nmot rated as a global brand and online and global benchmarking sites like GSM Arena and other do not really reckon with it. That does not mean it is not a good phone. However, the repeated comparism of Tecno and samsung is sickening.

Those that want to use Samsung should do so while those that want Tecno should also use their in peace.

PoliticsRe: Rate The President's Mid-term Report by kawkab: 7:57pm On May 29, 2013
Tofax: Great presidents are made great by
horrible circumstances combined with character, temperament and
intelligence.
The greater point about Jonathan is
that in the midst of our worldwide
financial meltdown, an expanding
Boko Haram ,oil theft ,Piracy,Kidnappings,Armed Robberies,Bribery and corruption etc, facing a general loss of confidence in the government that has been exacerbated by the opposition doing all they can to undermine our government’s capabilities and programs… President Jonathan has taken on the leadership of our country at a make or break time of historic proportions. He faces not one but dozens of crisis, each big enough to define any presidency in better times.
We have watched Jonathan
respond in a quiet reasoned manner to crisis after crisis, in both the way he has responded after being attacked and lied about , to his reasoned response to our multiplying national crises.
Our country has rarely faced more uncertainty. This is the time for greatness. We have a great leader. We must be a great people backing him, fighting for him, sacrificing for a cause greater than ourselves.
Thank you bro. Your response is inspirationl despite the myriad of problems our nation is forging ahead. No mattet what some people think; for now we have onlu pne president and it would do all of us some good if we pull our strenght together to move the nation forward by contributing in our own little way.

PoliticsRe: APGA - Governors’ Forum Should Be Scrapped by kawkab: 11:45am On May 29, 2013
-The govenors forum supported the removal of fuel subaidy.
-the governors forum opposed local goverment autonomy.
- the governors forum opposed the sovereign wealth fund. The wanted all monies shared instead being saved.
- governors have been collecting their share of SURE-P fund. No one is asking how well they are using it

questions
- For what reason was the forum set up.
- to what extent have they met th objective for which the forum was setup.
- whose interest would their present macabre dance serve.

The above would help any discerning individual decide whether it is necessary for the forum to be scraped.

bloggernaija: Obj is wiser than you think.he will not for any reason fight with amaechi,a performer.he would rather want to be associated with him so that the amaechi's shine can rub off him.as regards the governors forum, he would simply have ignored it.wasn't there a forum during obj time?weren't they agigating for the monies in the excess crude account then.he simply ignored them.
Everybody knows that goodluck is insecure and jealous because amaechi easily outshines him .amaechi is what GEJ is not.you can see also see the insecurity on nairAland from GEJ paid supporters. Everyday ,they come here wasting their time on what fashola has not done or what buhari did without publishing what GEJ has done in the 4 yrs since he became president
1. Please kindly explain how amechi easily outshines GEJ.
2. How is Amechi what GEJ is not.
3. In what aays dows GEJ actions potrays that he is jealous and insecure.

Note OBJ was very impatience with opposition both from within and outside his party.

-Rasheed Ladoja.
-DSP Alamiyeseigha

In Amechi first tenure he performed remarkably well. However has spent a good part of hia second term playing Politics. He turned the Governrs forum to an opposition party; opposed Local Govt. autonomy etc.
PoliticsRe: Boko-Haram Attack Police Barracks In Borno by kawkab: 8:56pm On May 07, 2013
franchizy: I suspect the SE and SW are the members of Boko Haram carrying out this devilish act because islam is a religion of peace and no muslim can shed blood because Allah is against it.

I see dis killings as a gang up to tarnish d image of the muslims by the SE and SW cos in the North, there are too many SE and SW who ve lived here 4 many years and cos of there quest to stain Islam they are been sponsored to claim to b muslims.

Allah will vindicate and expose this evil people one day.
you are suffering from delusionsof grandeur.

mind you, blood is sacred to the average South Easterner both to Christians and Pagans. No Christian in Nigeria no mater his denomination or belief would accept to engage in suicide operation. The south west is the only place in Nigeria where you see Christians and Moslems cohabiting in peace even in the same family.

so ur postulations that the SE and SW are the ones carrying out the bombing and attack is completely faulty.

pls wake up from ur slumber and stop living in self denial.

EducationRe: UNIZIK Wins Geo-sciences Competition Among African Universities by kawkab: 11:32pm On Mar 27, 2013
It is so funny and sad the way we react to issues. A Nigerian university wins an award and some others are trying to trivialize it by saying that better schools did not participate in the competition. Some posters have even gone to the extent of tribalising the issue.

Unfortunately this is the mindset most Nigerians put up in most situation. When somebody does well we play it down solely because he is not from our tribe or part of the country. When a citizen gets involved in a criminal activity; his kinsmen comes to his defense no matter the gravity of the crime or offense committed.

We should grow up and live above this primordial sentiments. When a School does well whether it is Kebbi State University, Lagos state University, kano State University, UNILAG, UNN, OAU, ABU, we should all collectively celebrate it. No matter what it is we should celebrate with the school.
