Kudos to the Nigerian Air Force and the Nigerian Military (the best fighting force in Africa). They have proven it over and over again. In this case the rebel and jihadist would start shitting in their pants when they hear that the Green White Green flag and the strength of the eagle would be landing.

We may not have gotten everything right, but gradually we are getting there. At present the Liberian and Sierra Leonian economy has a heavy Nigerian Presence, same for Sao Tomme and Principe and majority of West African Country.

lets wish our men the best as the first batch leave for their duty tour/combat role for 6 months.

PoliticsRe: Jonathan’s 2015 Campaign Posters Flood Abuja by kawkab: 7:02pm On Jan 02, 2013
Some of the post in this thread has gone long way to show the reasons why we have challenges as a nation. very few persons have taken an unbiased and objective assessment of the situation at hand.

1. If GEJ is aware of the posters what does he want to achieve. Probably a preemptive move to announce his intention to run for Office in 2015. In several forums he has refrained from telling the public whether or not he would contest for public office. Until he makes this pronouncement we cant be absolutely sure. Everything other position would exist in the realm of speculations. The issue of body language is speculative and relative. Our interpretation of body languages varies. So what I may state as the meaning of a particular body language pattern may be different from another persons evaluation/assessment (except you are an expert in body language interpretation)

2. Whether the GEJ succeed or not in 2015 is dependent on several factor;
- He need to win his party's nomination for 2015. As at the last count he has not done that.
- He then needs to context in the general elections.
- For him to win in the general election, he would need to have performed exceptionally well between 2013 to 2015 to drastically change his negative public image
and perception.
- The candidate the opposition parties field also matters a lot. The opposition parties in Nigeria are only concerned about destructive criticism. they don't offer
credible alternatives and better policy positions. The opposition should ensure that a progressive candidate that is better than GEJ is presented, else people may
vote for GEJ not because they like him but because he would be the better of two devils.
- CPC as an opposition controls only one state viz Nassarawa. They have not used Nassarawa State as an example to show the other parts of the nation what they can
do if they control power at a larger level; unlike ACN that have shinning lights in Oshiomole and Fashola.

3. The poster may be from opposition parties that are interested in further riding on the crest of negative perception of GEJ to further tarnish his image. The opposition expected that he would take off fuel subsidy thereby increasing the pump price of fuel thereby cashing in on it to create civil unrest or demonstrations. When this did not happen, they may have resorted to the poster gimmick.

4. The poster my also be from organization like Neighbor to Neighbor or other sycophantic bodies who are interested in making money from campaigning from GEJ.

On the whole, let ensure that our comments are balanced and free from abuses.
PoliticsRe: Jonathan’s 2015 Campaign Posters Flood Abuja by kawkab: 6:35pm On Jan 02, 2013
BetaThings:Of course he is so empowered. So why did he say he would not when campaigning in 2011? Has the Constitution just empowered him?
Body Language:
1. Gov Peter Obi endorsed him for 2015 and he promptly designated Anambra an oil producing state
2. Sir Edwin Clark (his "godfather" and the South South people have already endorsed for 2015. He did not ask them to give him time to work first
3. Gov Amaechi is alleged to be teaming up with a Northern Giv for 2015. Ever since the border of River state has been changing to give oil wells (previously owned by Rivers State) to Bayelsa where there ia a gov loyal to Goodluck
4. Beaf (sorry Billyonaire & Co) have been carrying out pre-emptive attack on Fashola on NL, just in case the man wants to contest in 2015
5. GEJ has gone for Holy Ghost service to "thank" them for praying for his success prior to 2011 elections. Mind you he did not go there after the 2011 elections. It is time to go back since a new campaign is about to start
1. Governor Obi endorsement means nothing. Anambra State was designated an Oil Producing State because of the commencement of operation of Orient Refinery built by Anambra State and the Private sector to tap the oil from the Anambra Basin comprising part of Anambra North area.

2. Sir Edwin Clark has only one vote, his endorsement of Jonathan is just his personal opinion. He not evening speaking from the South south but for himself.

3. GEJ presence at the Special Holy Ghost conference has been over flogged but on NL and several other mediums. He did not make comments that insinuates that he is canvassing for votes.

PoliticsRe: Amaechi Seized Car Keys In Port-Hacourt Today by kawkab: 1:25am On Jan 01, 2013
debrief08: Serves you right. Are you meant to form multiple lanes?
Nigerians are horrible traffic offenders, they form multiple lanes get on side walks, abuse you for obeying traffic lights, Blosck intersections, block the path to the left or right in traffic even when they are going straight.
I don't blame Governors like Fashola and Ameachi who to deal with thugs become thugs to as it is the only language we understand. Like Fashola said if you won't obey traffic laws go back to your village.
The way we act sometimes makes me think animals are better. As long as they can't pass in traffic no one else must pass, They wickedly take a street and make it one way abusing you who has the right of way
Anytime there is a slight hold up, most Nigerians would form 3 or 4 lanes whereas if everyone stays on a single lane movement may be slow but there would still be movement.

Have you ever wondered why people would spend hours on Lokoja-abuja Road, Benin Ore Road etc, aside from the fact that the roads are not too good, anytime there is a slight obstruction people would form form multiple lanes, even blocking the on-coming vehicles and totaling halting traffic.

In the cities once there is power outage at traffic junctions the madness in most motorist manifest. For every slight hold up people form multiple lanes. The painful fact is that you see them with big cars well dressed and supposedly looking responsible. A lot of these cars have religious stickers on their cars yet, they cant conduct themselves properly.

It so frustrating, some even get up to the extent of abiusing traffic wardens. Force and brutish action is the only thing these set of motories understands. Unfortunately they are in the majority in Nigeria

CrimeNigerian Kills Ex-lover In UK Over Child’s Religious Faith by kawkab(op): 7:34am On Dec 13, 2012
It had started with the blazing fire of new-found lovers. Consumed by their passion, and determined to share love and emotional affinity, neither Esther Arogundade, 32, nor Shola Adebiyi, both Nigerians, cared a hoot about their religious differences. They found love between themselves, and religion was not going to be a barrier. Or so they thought. While Arogundade was a devout Christian, Adebiyi was a committed Muslim.

Between them, they could handle their religious differences. But a third member, their daughter, soon joined to change their calculation. The faith to be practised by the two-year-old daughter became an issue. Should she be allowed to be a Muslim like the father or should she, like the mother, be a Christian? Neither parent accepted to bulge. And that began to generate tension and create rift between the erstwhile lovers.

The disagreement between them strained their relationship and that drove Arogundade into the arms of another man.

Unable to stand being ditched by her, Adebiyi plotted his revenge. One day, Adebiyi, a kitchen porter, attacked Arogundade, a worker with KFC, with a kitchen knife in her home and stabbed her 13 times.

He also drank oven cleaner in an attempt to kill himself and phoned Arogundade's new lover to say he would never see her again before confessing to the killing to a friend.

Police broke into the mother-of-two's home in Salford, Greater Manchester, and found Arogundade lying dead on the kitchen floor with multiple stab wounds to her back and front.

Adebiyi was jailed at Manchester Crown Court for a minimum of 20-and-a-half years after admitting killing her.

The court heard how Arogundade began dating Adebiyi in 2007 and that they later had a daughter now aged two but split up last year after a series of rows.

Rob Hall prosecuting said: 'These arguments were ignited by differences of opinion over the religion of their daughter - the defendant wanted her to convert from Christian to Islam, but Esther was a church goer.
'There were arguments about expenses, bills and childcare.'
Last March, Arogundade who also had a nine-year-old daughter living in Nigeria from a previous relationship, began a friendship with another man named in court as Mr. Alabi.

While visiting family in Africa, Alabi received a sinister phone call from Adebiyi, claiming he would be killed if he returned to the UK.
Alabi told Arogundade about the call and she spoke to Adebiyi but he initially denied it.

Hall added: 'Mr. Alabi returned to the UK and the relationship took the next step and it turned into a sexual relationship.

'They spent a great deal of time talking and texting on their mobile phones - it may well be that it came to the attention of the defendant.'
On June 26, Adebiyi cleared out his locker at work at a conference centre in Manchester then left armed with a large kitchen knife and waited for Arogundade and their daughter to come home.

Throughout that evening, there were phone calls between Alabi and Arogundade and also a child minder who was booked for the next day.
But the following morning, Adebiyi was said to have made 'frantic arrangements' to get child care for his daughter and handed her over at 9.50 am along with her birth certificate and left in her push chair.

He then called Alabi, who asked about the whereabouts and welfare of Arogundade only to be told he would never see her again.
He then called a friend and confessed he had killed her, claiming it had happened during a fight.

The friend went to the house and saw Adebiyi come out wearing a blood-stained T-shirt and holding a large black-handled knife.
He saw him throw the knife into nearby bushes.

In mitigation, defence counsel, Michael Lavery, said his client had made a 'very genuine' attempt to take his own life by drinking oven cleaner.
He added: “He took the knife to kill himself and his partner. He's lost his daughter as well as a consequence of his own actions.

“Many men and women have to endure the discovery that the husband, wife or partner is no longer content with the relationship they have. What the law cannot permit is the use of violence, which is what you used.
“It is tragic for the victim of this murder and a tragedy for the daughter and for the father too. It is his own fault, I know, but that is not going to make it easier for her.”

Passing sentence, Judge Andrew Gilbart QC told Adebiyi it was not clear exactly when he had killed Arogundade.

He added: “Your relationship had come to an end with frequent disagreements and rows between the two of you.
“She formed a relationship with another man. You resented it, and tried to warn him off with threats.

“She let you know that she no longer wanted to be with you and wanted to pursue a relationship with another man.
“You were most upset at that prospect. She sought friendship elsewhere, including in an affair with another man. You were understandably upset but let me be clear about this.

“Many men and women have to endure the discovery that the husband, wife or partner is no longer content with the relationship they have.
“Many are jealous or unhappy. But what the law cannot and will not permit is the use of violence, which is what you used.

“I am prepared to accept that you were very upset - and indeed distraught - at what was happening to your relationship.
“'When you acted as you did you were under considerable emotional strain.”
After the case, Senior Investigator Andrew Tattersall of Greater Manchester Police said: “The biggest tragedy here is that a young girl has now been deprived of both her parents.

“Her mother was taken from her in a vengeful, violent attack and no sentence today can bring her back.”

PoliticsRe: Federal Govt, Stopped World Bank From Given More Loan To Lagos State Govt.. by kawkab: 7:04pm On Nov 29, 2012
manny4life(m): My own take on this is

I smell this move as a political rather than a financial decision made - although, FG does have legal grounds not to stand.

Lagos, an industrial thriving state which accounts for about 20% of our national GDP is dire need of development compared to number of citizens. Lagos as it stands, has a HUGE debt profile, although it's important to note Lagos may have never defaulted.

Personally, I caution about borrowing ONLY IF it goes to capital projects, though Fashola has done his very best in reviving and boosting the economy of Lagos, YET, a lot of work needs to be done. The borrowing of the loan from the WBG can be justified for infrastructural and economic development, however, the amount of loan needed whereas the FG serves as a guarantor may put FG on nerves, perhaps, FG saw that Lagos debt may collapse the state in the near future if things don't turn around economically.

The FG not endorsing and rejecting the loan is though WRONG but it's not non-ethical nor illegal; however, I won't be quick in a haste till the Federal Ministry of Finance reports on the issue. I would have said FG allow Lagos follow through with the remainder and after that, send a letter to the LASG stating that the FG cannot guarantee further loans till further notice.

In that same vein, the FG may have considered very important factors before rejecting to stand as guarantor. Factors may well include forecast about Lagos financial burden and ability to pay, it may well be that the projects on which the loan was sourced is not being carried out. It may well be that Lagos has a huge potential to defaulted or perhaps have defaulted and got back in standing, we don't know, but let's wait for Madam NOI to reply.

@Desola: You disingenuous fellow. I know you only too well and didn't expect anything less from your fallacious mind. You embody all that is untruth and nepotism. You are like a daylight robber; you lie bold faced with impunity. It is in your dna, being ibhoe, I suppose.

How do you pay for the roads in Lagos? Do you pay to walk on the pavements, do you pay road tax to drive on the roads? Do you even pay social security to use the general hospitals?

Asinwin, if Lagos is not free, why do you and your people choose to come here in droves? What, don't tell me, it's because you want to assist us in developing our lands out of the abundant goodness of your heart or to liberate us just like your baboon father ojuiku attempted to free us from the shackles of Nigeria?

And how do you know that this is a bogus claim? Oloshi, enemy of progress. That is why you would only have to venture into our lands to make anything of your lives. You would continue to hate us but not be able to do without us because we are your lifeline!
Desola - must you get abusive to make a comment. Why don't keep away from wiping up tribal sentiments.

This type of comments would not help us at all. Lets keep our comment straight and devoid of abuse, please

PoliticsRe: Nigeria Ranked Worst Place To Be Born In 2013 by kawkab: 7:27am On Nov 22, 2012
silica(m): There are 193 members of the United Nations. Unfortunately, the number 193 is too often used to represent the number of countries in the world. Although this number represents almost all of the countries in the world, there are still independent countries such as the Vatican City and Kosovo, that are independent and are not members of the U.N.
U.S. Department of State
The United States' State Department recognizes 195 independent countries around the world. Their list of 195 countries reflects the political agenda of the United States of America and its allies. Missing from the State Department's list is one entity that may or may not be considered a country, depending on who you talk to.

From this information, it means there 115 worse countries than Nigeria that you could be born into. If you feel My Nigeria is the worse place to be born, it only reflect where you stand now. It means your life isnt worth it, " meaning say your parents no try". As for me and my household, we couldnt have been born in a better country than Naija. If you no like am here, go hug trasformer or enter slave ship go America or Europe.
zeem_bab: Very funny.....

I always wondered if all these strange statistics are to bring Nigeria down.

Nigeria may not be the best country...but I have been to worst places on earth even outside Africa.

Mexico is an example of such place. A country that share border with almighty united state, but I thank God I was not born their.

Back home in Africa, Nigeria is far better with lot of opportunities than even Kenya ranked better us. Where is Sierra Leone, Guinnea, Togo, Congo,
Mali even Cameroon.

These are countries that when I visited, I did special thanks giving for being born in Nigeria.

I would like to advise that we should stop posting sensational news that drag the name of our country in mud.

We are far better than most of these countries....just imagine how possible is it that Nigeria produce the richest black man on earth with staggering $12 Billion worth if it is the worst place to be born.
I wish to appreciate the two posts above.

A lot of nairalanders read just without stopping to think first before making their comment. We seize very opportunity to run down our country.

Things may not be rosy here but opportunities abound and new ones are opening up everyday. I love Nigeria, no matter what we are passing through, we are not what others thing we are.

X-factoria: Sometimes, I get confused by the cravings of Nigerians.

When OBJ came with iron hands and the stubborness that can only rival that of a goat, we said he was too hard. Now, here is Jonathan, communicating in the most simplistic manner and approaching issues calmly, we are saying he is a retardeen because he doesn't brag or issue arbitrary threats like OBJ, allowing free and fair elections and we are still asking him if he was worried that PDP is losing in some states.

So what do we really want in Nigeria? We are a confused people I swear!!!!!
Thank you for you post. The problem is that Nigerians have been hit by the quick fix bug. The same bug that makes people want to make money fast, students want to pass exams without reading, we want everything now. No one one is denying the fact that things are really very bad in the country; but we must also admit sincerely that the level of decadence cannot be solved or reversed in a day. Growth is a process and with growth comes development.

Jonathan may not be all we expect; but no man is a summation of the character definition that exist in the mind of others. We should take him for who he is and he he is doing his best to see that the nations problems is solved.
BusinessRe: Businesses You Can Start With Little Or No Money by kawkab: 5:41am On Nov 13, 2012
@Daily News: Finally, I want to advice all Nigerian students reading this to pls start now to think of what business you can start cos student period is the best period in life to start a successful business for so many reasons.

You won't be under pressure for success like u would when u graduate and before u know it it has grown so big, so start now as a student, it maybe a recharge card selling biz, call centre, hair making, dry cleaning for fellow students, clothe retailing, blogging- I started mine as fun while in school, and today I thank God for the passive income its generating so far, good to sustain some people.

Plz students, try and reduce your facebooking, twittering, badooing, 2going, etc and start now to think of what biz u can start as a student to grow it before u graduate cos Nigeria is becoming tougher by the day, and even if u finally get job tomorrow wen u graduate, its not even d best, cos u are not rich in life until u are your own boss! Until u can employ people u feel like employing gainfully, that's my quote in life. So reduce your time online and start thinking creatively, thanks. Nice thread
There are money making opportunities in Nigeria. Just that people don't want to open their eyes to see it. It is now fashionable for people to condemn the society, castigate the government and every other thing around; most people don't want to look inward. There are money making opportunities as stated in several comments.

Please youths and students should stop spending a lot of their time on facebook, twitter, badoo, 2go an other from school they can start making money if they embrace some of these ventures.

PoliticsRe: Why Do Nigerians Confuse Titles With Professions by kawkab: 11:40pm On Nov 02, 2012
I once met the traditional ruler of a clans in one of the state in the East with the title IGWE DEACON DOCTOR.

In churches you have titles like MOST REVEREND, MOST SENIOR APOSTLES, HIGH APOSTLE, a lot of Pastors these days just give themselves doctorate degrees from some theological seminary and start answering REV. DOCTOR,

In some universities and tertiary institutions in Nigeria if address a staff or lecturer without including his title you may incur his/her wrath e.g. addressing somebody as Emeka Ahmed instead of Professor Emeka Ahmed etc.

We love titles so much. TIt is common practice to hear someone being addressed as DOUBLE CHIEF, TRIPPLE CHIEF and so on.
PoliticsRe: Amnesty Accuses Nigerian Army Of Abuses. by kawkab: 12:38pm On Nov 02, 2012
Perhaps Amnesty International should conduct a detailed research on the number of soldiers and policemen that have been killed by Boko Haram. They should also extend their study to include the number of schools destroyed, market places burnt and Ibo businessmen that have been killed since the insurgency started.

Further more Amnesty International should take a statistics of the number of churches destroyed and worshipers killed. The effect of their action on the major cities in Northern Nigeria such as Kaduna, Kano, Potiskum (total destruction of the largest cattle market in west africa), Jos etc.

After this study they would have a rethink of their opinion of the JTF
