Not all northerners are Almajiris. You and I know the people that are Almajiris. They are mostly the people they gather in campaign rallies. We saw them being conveyed in trucks to Plateau APC rally. They are being impoverished by the northern elite and are used for political gains. The northern elite don't want to give them education cos once they get enlightened, they can no longer be easily manipulated. They also constitute a pool of youth for easy recruitment by Boko Haram. Many of them have nothing to live for. Those are the Almajiris, and those are the people Northern elite use to win elections. Dangote can never be referred to an Almajiri. He's one of the Northern elite. There's also the northern middle class but it's narrow. There are equally poor Northerners who aren't Almajiris.

2003 and 2007 elections may not have been perfect, but Buhari wouldn't still have won any of them. In both years, the entire South and North Central were in support of Obasanjo and Yar' Adua respectively. Buhari genuinely lost both elections, just that his margin of loss would have been less if the elections were free and fair. Buhari only won in 2015 because the North Central rejected Jonathan. It wasn't so much about South West votes, because his margin of win in the SW was basically narrow. 55% against 45% wouldn't have been enough to give him the victory if the NC had massively voted for Jonathan.

Stop overestimating the relevance of the SW. If SW had given Jonathan the votes they gave Buhari and vice versa, Buhari would still have won. NC played a greater role in Buhari's victory in 2015 in terms of their votes than SW. Even next month, SW will still give Atiku nothing less than 40-50% of their votes. That I'm very sure of.

He expressed regrets that the CJN had to go through the process. He, however, said Buhari had issued specific instructions that anti-graft institutions should be allowed to do their jobs without any interference.

The Vice President made these clarifications in Abuja on Wednesday during a one-day conference organised by Online Publishers Association of Nigeria, with the theme: “Free Press and objective reporting in the 2019 election year.”

He said, “I must tell you in clear terms that, for President Muhammadu Buhari, his whole approach is that institutions should just do their work.

“I can tell you for a fact that he did not even know about this (CJN trial) until Saturday evening. I don’t feel good about it that senior members of my profession are being tried.



“He did not even know that there was going to be any kind of trial until Saturday evening.

“He had said categorically, ‘Don’t interfere with whatever institutions are doing.’

Sometimes, it has consequences such as we have today, such that people say, ‘How can such an important person be subjected to trial without the Federal Government?’

If Buhari wins again, I can assure you that the closest time an Igbo man will smell presidency in Nigeria (under APC) is 2039 but there is even a greater chance that APC will hand power back to the South South than South East by that 2039, which will leave Igbos waiting till 2055. That is assuming APC remains in power for the next 36 years.
Beyond presidency which many average Igbos are not so keen about, marginalisation of Igbos will continue under APC.
