POVERTY IS A BASTARD! So 7 of the staff returned the payment while the rest think they are too broke to follow suit? That's the catalyst that broke the protest and turned the protesters into victims. You see how difficult it is for NLC to champion the cause of Nigerian workers. The wicked proprietor would not dare relieve the entire staff had everybody complied. But POVERTY came to the rescue. Sadly this is one major tool Nigerian employers use against their workers. If it is too small for you, somebody somewhere else will be begging for it, even it be halved. I hate poverty.

True! Guys are more appreciative of any financial help rendered to them. But ladies? They only appreciate something bigger. I guess cos they have many potential helpers compared to guys. so they often tend to compare. Na so I sent #200 recharge card to one babe,(I do send her card occasionally) though she appreciated but she called it a ''token''. Omo! my hard-earned money a token? Anyway, I stopped sending her card from that day. I now have a rule- if you as a lady is not related to me, any financial help from me will be half of what I intended giving. Say, if I intended giving 1k, na 500h you go get las las. So if you come mess up in future (they almost, always do) e no go pain me.

She will certainly remember you when another financial need arises. For now you are no longer important (talking from experience). In my own case I bluntly told her ''NO'' on the second request. She got offended, 'carried face' for me for a while but as she come notice say guy man no send,she 'behaved herself' and we are still good. The thing is I no dey loose-guard for nobody be u man or woman. Street tough mehnn!

What u hav as computer village in Lagos is known as Emeka Offor plaza in Onitsha, Anambra State. Some other states hav other names. But away from major markets, a market is a market and can be found everywhere. Know what ur market wants, provide it and get paid. SIMPLE.

WRONG! This is far from sugar-coating or motivational crap.Hav u been to main market or computer village? Did you know that many guys don't hav shops or goods yet make good money on a daily? They accost u,take u to a shop,sell to u and take their commission without ur knowlege.Ever heard of GOODWILL? If u have it u can receive goods on credit,sell and take ur profit.Did u know poultry farmers procure feeds on credit,raise their birds,sell and return the principal to feed sellers.With ur smartfone u can take a picture of a product and post for free on ur social media page or online retailer like jiji or olx, make ur customer pay b4 delivery,procure and deliver! what of skills like writing, drawing, graphic designs,home tutoring, running errands, laundry(from home)

It's nothing new or strange. same old format; what are the things you are passionate about? They must be able to generate reasonable income and not just a hobby. Make a list of these endeavours and go with the one you have more skills for.

How can you say that capital is your problem in starting a biz? The fact remains that u hav never been passionate about starting a biz. You prefer the easier route which is a paid job. So quit blaming lack of capital

You probably will have at least 2 potential employers calling you especially private schools. But this would more likely land u a peanut pay with so much work,stress and dissatisfaction. What you need right now is an income generating skill. There aren't much meaningful jobs this days for graduates frm depts like Pol Sc, Pub admin, Sociology, Social work and co. So sad! I wish u realized earlier.

All These stress and embarrassment on top 25k that wouldn't carry u for 3 weeks? And to even think it's a temporary engagement. Pls take my advice; whenever u are looking for a job,never be broke. Have a small biz or skill that fetches u income no matter how small. That way u are more confident and stand a better chance at negotiation with these exploiters that call themselves employers. You don't fall for anything cos u are not desperate and u give them terms and conditions instead of vice versa. All u need do is to develop urself and be highly resourceful and watch them bend to ur whim. Never been to an interview in corporate dressing. All I do is dress smart. Do any how and I tender my resignation and move on. Anyway, I had to give up on a salaried job cos of issue of TIME. Instead of gettin stucked in a modern day slavery in the name of job, I rather use it to pursue a number of legitimate hustle. Rest,flex and still make far more money while keeping my sanity. Never be broke while searching for a job!

Yeah, he had his flaws like most Nigerian lecturers but his greatest undoing was his inability to control his penchant for alcohol. Stuff messed his kidney up.
Remember back in 2014 in Pol sc Dept, Dude reeked of alcohol while in class, meaning he dey booze B4 coming to class. No wonder the level of energy wey dey always shark him.
Loved his teaching style though even as he was inaccurate most times. Class was always lively.

I'm not depressed, because I read novels and other articles that come my way. It helps, I am also looking out for teaching job or anything to distract me till I get my dream job. Studied electrical engineering but with systems administration experience. I am in lagos

Getting a teaching job is easier now especially in private schools, why? because a lot of private school teachers hav sought for other alternatives havin learnt a bita lesson from the covid-19 lockdown experience. So most private schools are in shortage of teachers. If u really need one then submit ur application to at least 5 schools this comin mon. Don't wait to see vacancy. Just go straight and submit ur application to the principals' desks and ask them to call u incase there is any vacancy. I bet u at least 2 would most likely call u for interview in the next 2 weeks or less. This approach is tested and trusted!

The thing is, even when such ''secrets'' are revealed, most poor folks do not have the discipline and financial intelligence to act on them. Most poor people are primarily concerned with immediate gratification,reason why they are contented with daily bread. They don't have the courage to save and invest. And even when they save it's primarily to solve a future problem and not to multiply it. Reason why u give some poor folks a million naira each, 90% will go broke before the yr runs out and will even go neck-deep in debt, poorer than before! Poor folks have been robbed by their poor mentality big time! There are no secrets! What we have are rules and principles of wealth creation which every one knows. The difference is in the application. We have rich farmers,artisans,small biz owners etc bt most poor folks think they hav to become a politician or own big biz like Dangote or Otedola to become rich.Knowlege is not power,the application of knowlege is. The big question is ''do you have what it takes?''
