babbs45: But I never said in my post that he needs to come to nigerian, if he happens to win the dv. He can adjust his status so far as he's a student. Exactly what I said in my post. babbs45: Proceed with your student visa application. And if you happen to win the dv lottery and you are in the state, you'll not need to go back to Nigerian to continue the process. You'll take the adjustment of status route. So it is going to be a win win situation for you. All the best.Ok sorry. I thought you were the one that said that. Don't be angry. I don't mean it that way. We are all learning and here to correct ourselves. |
babbs45: You probably misread my post. How different is what you're saying from what I said?Does he need to come back to Nigeria to process it? |
babbs45: Proceed with your student visa application. And if you happen to win the dv lottery and you are in the state, you'll not need to go back to Nigerian to continue the process. I applied for DV 2014 which I was not chosen in May selection. And now I'm a prospective student of a University in Minnesota, I already paid for the VISA fee and other stuffs, my interview is sometime around 2nd week of October.. I heard there'd be another selection in October and I'm planning to apply for 2015 DV too which I heard Nigeria would be eligible.. I just need advise(s) from you guys.. Cuz STUDENT VISA does not automatically make me a citizen.. Should I go on with my Student application and if I gt granted, and also gt chose in the DV what would I do ?If he is doing Adjustment of Status, he does not need to come back to Nigeria to process it. He comes only if he is doing Consular Processing which I don't think it would be applicable to him should his student visa be successful. ADJUSTMENT OF STATUS The Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) permits the change of an individual's immigration status while in the United States from nonimmigrant or parolee (temporary) to immigrant (permanent) if the individual was inspected and admitted or paroled into the United States and is able to meet all required qualifications for a green card (permanent residence) in a particular category. The common term for a change to permanent status is “adjustment of status.” The INA provides an individual two primary paths to permanent resident status. Adjustment of status is the process by which an eligible individual already in the United States can get permanent resident status (a green card) without having to return to their home country to complete visa processing. Consular processing is an alternate process for an individual outside the United States (or who is in the United States but is ineligible to adjust status) to obtain a visa abroad and enter the United States as a permanent resident) This pathway is referred to as “consular processing” |
ewhoma: Ok. So d email is KCCDV@state.gov right? And in what format do I send d forms and passport photograps in (as I suppose I'll just need to download, fill, print, scan and send right)? And the body of d email, what do I write? That I am correcting some errors made in d first form I sent or what. Pls, I need a step to step direction on dis as I dnt want to make anoda mistake. Thanks for ur help. God bless u.The email address is correct. Just download, fill, print, scan and attached before sending. Note: Remember to quote your full name, DOB, CN in the body of the message. As for the passports, I don't think there's any need to attach that. Except you have issues with the previous one as well. Although I sent mine as a pdf, I don't know if you can do that as well as it is advanced. Then the Subject, you can write Re: Update on .... form. |
ewhoma: Thanks Kaygee1977. But how do I do dt again? Even if, I can't use d courier service again cos its just too xpensive as I used DHL d first time. Kindly giv me directives as to hw to go about this pls? Your response is greatly anticipated. Thanks n God blessUse email. I used email when I wanted to update my forms as well. komakan: Haa! Don't get him wrong bros he was not actually directing d message to you. He was like letting us to believe him as another person has emerged with 2NL.I never doubted him. I am gud. No hard feelings bro. Thanks. I appreciate your maturity. |
ernestleon: Congratulations and I wish you a successful interview.I just hope people will stop wondering#out#loud#Is there anything bad is wondering out loud in a case such as this? When as far as I know, you will be notified of your interview at least 4-6 weeks before interview. We have lots of folks that are current for October like you that haven't gotten there 2NL except recently the forumite whom you responded to. I am not doubting yours, you should know that. I was just wondering so others can comment on the issue , should there be a new policy I am not aware of. Ernestleon, I still wonder out loud why you are thinking this way of me. *laughingoutloud* |
ernestleon: Count down to my medical 30sept to my visa interview 1oct to my visa collection 2oct.Just can't waitCome o. Just wondering. Of all those that all are current for October, is it only ernestleon that has received his 2NL? #justwonderingloud. |
YessWeeCan: The process is no longer rigorous with MTN SECURITY NUMBER follow the steps below:Yes you are right. I remember now. They should do that. |
VisaOfficer: Greetings! I have no idea when KCC sends out the notification letters. All I know is my little piece of the puzzle, from the moment the cases arrive at my post until the interview is done. ![]() |
timimoyegun: Nice one,The house rent reciept sld do the magic. That's what the VisaOfficer said. The link is showing there. You can check it out yourself.

YessWeeCan: Oh really, but is it possible for her to get a cover letter from the law enforcement agency stating the purpose for the request, with an attached copy of the letter given to her by the CO. will this help? am just thinking aloud.Yes it will. You would have to go to the police, the police will now get a letter from the IG via the CP. A letter or affidavit (I'm not sure of what it is now) from the court. The police will now have to go to the Telecoms themselves. All these process, my broda, will cost you money and time. I am talking from a personal experience. At some point, I was really disgusted in the whole process, but I had to go on because of what I needed it for. I am not discouraging you though. I am just telling you my experience. |
YessWeeCan: @damohreal, in addition to the above:I don't think option 2 is gonna work. Talking from experience. They will never divulge such information to you. Except law enforcement agents. |
Freshie: True, everyone married woman pls take note. You don't have to get another international passport, but you may have to carry your marriage certificate with your international passport for anything that requires your identification as the wife of your man. I have aunties that do that so I know it happens. But a forumite here advised otherwise --Kunlexymore-- He said they had to spend $300 in the states to get a change of name. Doing it here is cheaper. Note: I am not saying your wife can't use her maiden name, my point here is the cost implication. It's cheaper here in 9ja, so I'd rather it's done here before visa approved on the passports other than having to do it in the states when necessity demands. My take. |

Tobi henryo: Nopes, U̶̲̥̅̊ don't get me,av exceeded ♍♈ EDD(am above 9months now).so am due anytime frm now.bt pls how soon do they reply one's mail @ the̶̲̥̅̊ lagos embassy.thanxok ok ok. *excited*. If this is d case, then you've got no problems. To the best of my knowledge, we've gat two experiences here in this thread which maybe likened to urs. One was given visa and to come back for their baby's after birth, because they insisted on theirs first. The other was asked to come back after their child's birth like your case. No. I think three experiences. The third one went back after baby's birth i.e. naming ceremony was also conducted. Of these experiences, I can't remember their names though, they are all members of this forum. Other forumites can also attest to this. So based on this and that you have passed your EDD, I can boldly say, you've gat nothing to worry about. They guy or babe fit just show now. And I also believe the embassy would respond to mails of utmost urgency, even though they have volumes to attend to. It's just a guess though, it's not definitive, I don't work there. |
VisaOfficer: THOSE NOGOODNIKS! I knew something was fishy! I'm going to shoot an e-mail to North Carolina law enforcement and see if they'll follow up.I doubt if they are in North Carolina. They may have one of them stationed someone somewhere abroad. But your move would be much appreciated. Thanks VO for your great work here again. |
justwise: You just wasted your money, they are bunch of scammers http://www.scamwarners.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=60976Wells Fargo!!!! Omon na one chance be that o. |
rcha: Could You tell me what are the requirements for South Asia?Sorry, I don't know the requiements for South Asia. I'm sure when you go to: www.travel.state.gov/visa/visa_4756.html you'd be able to get South Asia's requirements. Please read through and thoroughly. I hope this well help you? |
Bussyme: Are you sure that NABTEB is acceptable at embassy? That is exactly what the VisaOfficer said which I equally posted. But the clause is that it must be academic subjects like maths, english, etc and not trade subjects which I guess, note I said "guess" could be food and nutriton, textile and etc. |
YessWeeCan: I arrive at the embassy by 5.00am, we waited for about an hour b4 we where ask to line-up in two lines one for immigrant and the other for non-immigrant, pass through all the security check. I was call to submit my doc in win 17 then sat quietly waiting for the last stage.Congrats so excited for you. I think YessWeeCan, should be changed to YesWeHave. Kidding. Go and conquer USA o. |
osashilton: Pls I want to find out my chances, my mum was a dvlottery winner 5yrs ago, now she is applying for citizenship and wants to file for me, considering my age now that I am 29years, what are my chances and how long is the filing process now puting my age as a factorI believe if you ask this question here: www.nairaland.com/1359935/u.s-consular-officer-ask-me you will certainly get help there. It's a thread. |
Tobi henryo: Hi house ,am a bit worried here,I was interviewd on july 16th dis year wIth ♍♈ husband by the̶̲̥̅̊ guy@window 14.He said ♍♈ pregnancy ws over 7months dt we wl av to come back with the baby for our visas,bt wot I̶̲̥̅§ givin me concern now I̶̲̥̅§ dt Freshies experience dt he said he's wife was also heavily pregnant and yet they were issued visa immediately and were askd to come for the babys visa later.so how come ours wasn't done dt way though we wr given a note to come wit the̶̲̥̅̊ babys medicals, visa fee, passprt and all.pls wl appreciate evryones contribution.thanksWow. 7 months pregnant, 1 month and few days left for the rounding off of DV2013, naturally you have two months to your EDD. Not trying to scare you but all this time I have outlined above are 'parallel'. You should have asked the CO if it would be possible to still print DV2013 visa after midnight September 30th. The 2013 DV season ends at midnight, September 30. That means that any visas that was unable to print before midnight, Sept. 30, cannot be printed. I suggest you contact the embassy via email to get this clarification and if any adjustments could be made. Thanks. |
This is from VisaOfficer. Just felt we should know this prior to interviews, and I quote: Good morning! We do recognize NECO results. Applicants must have 5 scores of 5 or better in 5 different subjects on the WAEC, SSCE, NECO, or NABTEB certified exams; or they can qualify with a BSC degree, HND, or OND from an accredited university or polytechnic institution. The WAEC or NECO subjects must be academic subjects (for instance, English, biology, math, etc.). Trade subjects, such as plumbing or garment making, do not count for the DV program. We really, really like it when applicants bring scratch cards so we can verify their results. smiley Good luck! |
Yusmash00: MF, Where are you from? When did you join the forum to start dictating? I hope you know the meaning of the MF i called you. Thanks for the compliments. Yea, I know the meaning, 'Man of Favour'. Two wrongs they say cannot make a right, for that, I stick to my mother's advice wayback, when she will tell me, 'silence is the best answer given to ...', I guess you can fill in the blank space. Peace! |
rcha: Does the 2NL for the DV Lottery comes on first document sent first the 2NL comes?I think it does. Cos those that submitted earlier have gotten theirs i.e. when you are in the same category of being current. |
Guys don't get me wrong. I wasn't specific on anyone when I used the word 'silly', neither have I hushed anyone from asking even if sometimes I'm tempted to do so, if they knew they won't ask. I was just simply expressing my views. Please I don't claim to know it all. I am also learning from here too. It's a free forum and anyone could ask. I was just thinking out writing. That's all. Pardon me. All I want is for us to make research and read so we don't misguid ourselves. I just don't like it when someone is being misguided. Our aim will be defeated if that happens. |
Freshie: Hi, pls I would like for you to read as carefully as you can. I am not an authority so I can't claim to have all the answers but I will tell you my personal experience. Personal, as in me and my wife, not that I heard the story from someone. On point! Where are those ITK? This is not hear say. First hand experience. Make una learn o. Freshie, God bless you and your family. Thanks. |
tycoon77: Mr man stop mentioning that word (RUBBISH) on dis forum...What do u know is the meaning of "rubbish"? Simply because I mentioned the word, you react. What about those comments? What are their contents? And by the way, who are you to command me not to talk? *hiss* Clear Road! |
