the biggest criminal is the person who falsely accused them of being robbers and then allowed them to be killed...my blood rages but may God have mercy |
speaking in tongues is on different levels...there are other tongues i.e the tongues of men and unknown tongues which are the tongues of the spirit realm. the apostle paul made reference to speaking in the tongues of angels. you cannot learn how to speak in tongues brethren!! let no one force you. i personally went for prayers many times(years) with no effect but one day in the middle of the night after a time of prayer i had a dream and woke up speaking in tongues. it was a blessed experience that has changed my life. now the things of the spirit are funny in the sense that sometimes i ask myself if i only imagined it or if my mind was playig tricks on me but the truth is that what happened that night happened and that will never change... i do wonder if nairaland is the place to ask such a question? |
great thread...especially for someone like me at this particular time. im not quite ready to get married but what id really like right now is to meet my life partner so we can get to know each other for like two years or more...been praying about it and kinda excited to think there is someone special somewhere waiting for me. i would like to ask the house though, do you guys thing everyone has a specific God given partner or there are a bunch of different folks God would approve of? i personally believe the latter with good reason |
babeface3:lol i was jokin...why so serious? ![]() |
Goldieluks: i hope you got your answer from Mynd's reply above??lol pretty much...but dega dega some criticism aint necessary amyg: Of course it should have a moral or y did it make d front page?am not a fan 4 craps.as 4 d attention,it wasn't supposed 2 come from u nah.front page aint about morals my friend its about driving traffic to the site. lol for some reason the bolded part of your post is just hurtful!! ![]() |
ArQueBusieR: Publicity stunt: no serious football club would appoint a 24-year-old as coach.24 year old lady footballer at that...at 24 yu havent even reached your peak as a player so why did she retire? if this was a serious club this kind of thing would be purely detrimental but i guess the club is actually trying to get some publicity. btw do they even pay them in the croation 5th division? that one should be like a semi pro or amateur league. this is a joke. secondly for those saying the players would be distracted by her "beauty" if these guys are professionals at all they probably already have equally hot wags. now enough of this annoying piece of news that is giving women reason to talk about football as if they know anything ![]() |
honestly i wonder at the minds of some people. how is it possible to just focus on one side of a matter without paying due attention to all other aspects? being equal in rights and standing in society does not mean uniformity in roles in society. the underlying contradiction made by feminists is that they are the ones who make the distinction between what roles are more equal than others. but the undeniable fact is that male and females are simply not created the same which would imply that our creator meant for us to play different roles in our society. by nature women have been given the task of child bearing...but since we believe that equality means uniformity then by nature there the distinction between the biological and physical capabilities of men and women implies that one of the two is inferior to the other. however i believe that though we should have different roles to play, no role is less significant. now naturally the role of the man has always been that of bread winner while the woman has always been the home maker. i see nothing wrong with either role in this arrangement but if a woman decides to challenge this status quo on the basis that "she just cant cook" then my question to the ladies who are defending her is this: would you want to marry a man who decided to similarly challenge the stautus quo on the basis that he "just is not good at work"? |
stagger: A typical trip by a man of Bishop's status will go with a pastoral staff of at least 10 persons. He travels worldwide for preaching engagements.even if you rented the planes for a full week(24/7) that wouldnt be enough to buy even the cheapest of the planes quoted on that list so whats the point ur making?? secondly are you trying to tell people that churches have need to rent planes? why? do they carry out medical evacuations too? im not gonna come out and judge anyone though especially since i dont have facts. i couldnt care less really, church members are adults. |
Goldieluks: Why?so why have you then felt the need to inform him that his story is uninteresting to you? |
amyg: mtcheeew.and the moral of the story is?must the st amyg: mtcheeew.and the moral of the story is?and why exactly must the story have a moral?? you wanna hear stories with morals go to your village. the fact that you didnt enjoy his story doesnt mean others such as myself didnt as well and its clear to see others did. so the question is raised: must everyone be a critic? especially when ur criticism is merely evoked out of your jealous need to attract some attention to yourself. |
on the nigger issue i was actually thinking about it yesterday myself. its strange how people pick up on little things. the truth is its not the word that matters but the sentiment behind its usage. whats the difference between nigger and black when it is being used by a racist person?? instead of saying "hey you nigger" he goes "hey you black man"...the change in word does not change the derogatory implication of it. similarly what is the point of banning gay in favor of h.o.mosexual? at the end of the day to straight people the terms are equally derogatory. the word nigger actually has not significant meaning of its own. ridiculously even on nairaland if you type in ho..mosexual it gets filtered as gay |
afam4eva: The first technical question we should ask is, what does Nigger really mean apart from the fact that it's used to describe black people. I think Nigger is just like the use of Okoro to describe Igbo people which is technically not offesive. berem: and also using the word "Yoruba" to describe yoruba people (no bigotry intended) freecocoa: Or ABOKI for the hausas just like the call us Nya mmiri dodon doya plz what do the above bolded mean? i assume okoro is sort of a reference to Okoror as a popular igbo name? wat bout the others?? |
such foolish talk...exactly why would any foreign country intervene?? because their sophisticated and very expensive weapons are there to be turned into back up security for third world countries to utilize at their beck and call? because their soldiers are there to throw their lives away fighting obscure boko haram? foreign powers do not intervene unless there is: something tangible for them to gain, there is something tangible to lose or the situation has become completely ungovernable, or both. as we can clearly see such is not the case in Nigerias figth against Boko haram. |
lol for the people asking questions, clearly the poster lives in "face me i face you". its easy to see how his neighbor would be aware of hs "new boxers" |
when people argue against the division of nigeria claiming that pro division activists like myself are naive i believe they fail to really understand one thing. Nigeria is already a divided nation in every practical sense...the only thing that remains is to change its name. i have never heard of such a thing in my life where a state govt or even a national one for that matter, forcibly removes people from one state to another. i cant understand on what basis such a move is made.are we not supposedly all nigerians? so you mean as a nigerian i dont have the right to go anywhere i please within nigeria what sort of nonsense is this?? even in foreign countries once you are there legally no one has the right to forcibly take you anywhere....why are we so backward?? |
im impressed with the work of the JTF. you see in order to quell extremism you need to show extreme extremism yourself. you must terrorize the terrorist into silence. thats the only way to win such a war. the truth is it is the prominent people behind this group who should be brutally targeted not the followers....most of the followers are already ready to die but the leaders are mostly cowards. if you can intimidate and brutalize anyone suspected of being behind this group they will cease to operate. the north must experience d extreme fear of the military. |
yo wassup camerounpride...was enjoying the thread but i noticed nothin has been posted for quite a while...you fianlly given up?? |
my fellow nigerians....why so emotional?? unsurprising that its only females on this thread. carry on tho some are actually nice to read |
Onila and Cameroun Pride what's wrong with you people and this your love-hate relationship its enough abeg! i really couldnt give two figs about how nice anyone thinks their country is...seriously thats your business. there's nothing you wont hear about nigeria whether its from ghanaians, camerounians, south africas even gambians and sierra leonians. everyone has something bad to say about nigeria, everyone has an ethnocentric approach to ones country so what is the point in arguing? enjoy your side and let me enjoy mine but give freedom to those to whom freedom is deserved. Africa is just a confused place |
lol im indeed amused.....at this rate i wonder why the world does not see theocracy as the most ideal system of government?? if hatred between christians and muslims can reach this extent then na wa o! which of you is any better than "boko haram"? at some point i was tempted to post a rejoinder but then i realized the sheer foolishness of it. again nairaland has shown its own level of corruption. it is clear the management of this forum care only about driving traffic to the site and not about the content as they claim. if you could ban harmless posts on ordinary garri(elsewhere in the world you see comments such as "how does this or that change the price of tea for example) then why on earth is a thread that is clearly formenting religious intolerance still open?? |
lol...nigeria is really some kinda funny counrty o...cant help but love it. why have people felt the need to tie him to all the dead vultures?? lol seriously whats the point?? its just too funny |
Dansadaumallam: But come to think of it, God created Satan whom we accuse all the time as being behind our woes, God:we have not seen ,Satan:we have not seen ,still we believe that what we do not know(satan) we must at least hate so that we will inherit a heaven allegedly promised by what we have not seen(God)i partially dont even know why im lendin any credence to your post but you at least made me laugh...in the politically incorrect way one could laugh at an old man who was rambling off nonsense all the while thinking he was sane. |
this is simply ridiculous and no one seems to be picking up on what for me is absolutely the most critical factor involved. what is Nigeria? what is Cameroun? are they pieces of land or are they a group people(a nation)? the status of the bakassi pennisula cannot be decided on the ridiculous basis of colonial agreements which lack any form of moral authority. secondly no government has any right to "give" out a piece of land to another nation because ultimately a country is more than just geographical lines but has at the very core of its existence the people who identify themselves as a nation. so how can you decide that a piece of land belongs to Cameroun when its residents have always been Nigerians? how can you force Nigerians in Nigeria to overnight become Nigerians in Cameroun after how many years of living there? the people of Bakassi have decided and the world should pay attention to their plea. is that not the essence of democracy and human rights?? what about the right to self determination?? |
the increase in the price of beans is bound to have an effect on the price of garri depending on whether people see it as a substitute good or as a complimentary good. if as a substitue good, this is not good for the economy as people will buy less beans and more garri leading to an increase in the price of garri eventually placin our two good(garri and beans) economy straight on the path to stagflation. |
why this coming on the day after 9/11? the U.S guys dont seem smart at all...you knowingly unleash forces you cant control and then send an ambassador to such a volatile area without adequate protection?? i mean knowin full well that a good number of these libyan fighters are extremists the U.S still felt it wise to establish a consulate in Benghazi capital of the insurgency. madness. secondly do these guys think its beans to attack an american consulate?? an attack on an embassy/consulate is tantamount to an act of war. i tire of mindless fools who cannot decipher their left from their right. how can violence be the first solution that rushes to your mind everytime you see something you dont like ![]() |
those criticizing shoulf wait and see what the exat definition of beautify within the context of this law is. might seimply be to clean the area around or something rather basic |
look lets think deeply about this. it is inevitable that were certain traits and characteristics are recognized as significant generic differences between groups of people there will be discrimination. as angry as i get when hearing news of racism i calm down because i realize it is a natural human reaction. why do whites look down on blacks? it is because we are: 1.different 2.percieved to be inferior which is "justified" by history and even modern trends of african backwardness 3.percieved as beggars and thieves which in the context of our relationship with whites is largely true. if any one doubts that the above are basis for a racist reaction then let me ask: why do igbos, hausas and yorubas hate each other? why do south africans and most other west africans largely hate nigeians? you see racism as a phenomenon in itself is misunderstood. the real problems r self centeredness and the human being's intolerance for difference. |
weell as for racism i cant really say ive experienced it outrightly but to some extent yea. ill put my experiences in two categories: those on african soil and those off african soil- the first on african soil happened when i was playing football with some australian, brittsih and german dudes and other blacks. being slightly aggressive but also kind of cheeky i pulled one german guys shirt to stop him from runnin in on goal and he got so angry and even tried to kick me which i ignored but beneath the surface i was just waiting for him to touch me once. anyway like fifteen minutes later one of the other white guys did the exact same thing to him and tho i could tell he was upset at that one he didnt react in anyway. now we were mostly meetng for the first tym that day so there was no issue of them being friends or anything. pretty much the game turned into a cat and mouse thing between him and me with us pretty much hunting each other on the pitch...one of the whites even said to me "be careful or ul get hurt". anyway to be fair to him he did call me afterwards to apologize and we sort of became friendly.outside of africa i cant say i experienced any racism....actually the white folks i interacted with were really very friendly and helpful. i played as the only black player in a county league team once and the players were really cool. wen i went to church the old ladies would just be hugging me like a teddy bear and there was even a middle aged white guy who i met at a bus stop around ten at night and he randomly started telling me about his family problems. lol he adviced me strongly not to have kids i remember.but then there were these kids who used to throw pebbles at our window and we wer the only ones they did it too...we were new so maybe that was it but then we were also the only blacks sooooo i dunno but kids will be kids. they stopped it the day i came out and yelled at them. the bus thing tho i have some vague recollection of some weird behaviour from a girl or two girls on a bus....cant remember exactly what tho but personally im the type that would try to block anyone from sitting near me and id rather stand than seat next to someone especially on a short journey whether black or white so ill hold that against no one. finally i had fling with a white girl (in africa) mann she is the reason why i am determined to marry white for brothers once you go white you never go back!!! there was also this lebanese chic that was pretty much my best friend at some point even at a time that i confess i was a pretty lame character. i really dunno wat she saw in me. so there...i conclude that generally racism has not been much of an issue for me.in fact i seem to have a thing with white chics which i cant understand. i was in sports direct once and this group of girls came in all chatty and then one of them in particular just couldn take her eyes of me and was really quiet till i left. it didnt seem like a bad thing tho. also at church there was one weirdish girl who would look at me a lot but i couldn tell wat sort of look it was. in fact the first girl that ever told me she liked me (must have been in kindergarten)was one small white kid. |

but why should we go to school to learn yoruba/igbo/hausa?? are any of these the official language of nigeria?? personally i wish all nigerians could stick to one language and abolish the rest. treasuring a language merely because of culture makes no sense. the purpose of language is communication so whatever helps us communicate better is what we should have as our language. what has having many languages served nigeria if anything it only deepens the cultural divide that has wrecked our so called nation. learning chinese on the other hand while i doubt it would work at this level, serves to strengthen ties between the two countries. earlier in the thread one strange individual said the minister is encouraging brain drain by encouraging students to learn chinese to go study in china.....what kind of ignorance is that? if anything that is brain gaincuz they will return to nigeria bettr equiped to contribute plus takin strain off our over worked and frankly below par universities. |
