In 2000 when Uwazurike started MASSOB, he publicly burnt his Nigerian passport. Since then, Uwazurike has been traveling all over the world from Europe to America and several African countries. What passport do people think he is using? People think that an international passport is the only travel document there is. I know people who travel with piece of paper. There are people who travel with just ID card. Even in some situations, a driving license is acceptable To the best of my knowledge, Nnamdi Kanu uses his British passport to travel which is Ok since British Law allows him dual citizenship. |
What right thinking Nigerian thinks someone like Buhari will implement the confab reports? It is mostly the North that will suffer if resource control is instituted. How does anyone think that Buhari will implement something that will further impoverish his people? Resource control is not coming back as long as the northerners are there. It is over their dead body that they will allow resource control or true federalism return. |
I wonder why anyone would use South-Sudan as an example of what would happen in event of Biafra? Eritrea broke away from Ethiopia in 1993 and have lived peacefully since then. This is despite Eritrea being half Muslim and half Christian. |
lawrenceunaa:Why don't you people try to read this thread well before commenting? I'm a Biafran supporter who wants to know what the Cross River and Akwaibom people are thinking about Biafra. How can I be asking them their position and speaking for them at the same time? |
freez2ryme:I'm an Igbo guy and proud Biafra supporter. But as much as I support it, I wanted to guage what the Cross River and Akwaibom states people think about leaving Nigeria with Igbos into Biafra which is why I started the thread. We have to know the opinion of these people. They poster said that Oron people are not interested so I said that I wait to hear what others have to say since just one opinion is not enough. Learn to read the posts on here well before commenting |
phemmyutd:You must still be under the illusion that Nigerian politicians care about the people. There isn't any Igbo senator that will support Biafra, infact, they are the ones that will oppose it. Biafra is not in their interests because it will disturb their money making plans in Abuja. The people you call 'Jobless', the common man on the streets, the ones struggling to make ends meet, the ones that are tired of all the suffering that the unworkable entity called Nigeria has brought on them. That's the people Biafra is about. |
Since when has peaceful protest become unlawful? Peaceful protest is a right not a privilege. |
agabusta:I also agree. I'm sure that most Nigerians don't understand the ethnic dynamics of Cross River and Akwa Iboms state. There was a time I thought the whole place was Ibibio land. It it is also revealing that the Oron nation would be happier in Nigeria than with Igbos in Biafra. Well I wait to see what others have to say. |
OrlandoOwoh:What you said is not the same thing that I asked. I'm talking about people who speak mutually intelligible languages and bear the same surnames. Not those that are half and half. |
9jaclicktivist:As an Igbo man and Biafran supporter, the Nigerian passport for me is like a prison ID card. Many Biafrans have no choice but to use it but it is a symbol of oppression. Just like Nigeria, it is imposed on people who don't want it. When we get Biafra, most of us will publicly burn that green booklet called the Nigerian passport which is a constant reminder of how a British armed Robber called Lord Lugard came from Britain to impose an illegal identity on us |
sammysammy111:The question is not if your SS or SE, these names only came in use about 20 years ago or so. These names are not even recognised in the constitution |
Cross River and Akwa Ibom states habour several ethnic groups that include Ibibios,Efiks,Annangs, Oron,Etung,Igede,Nseke,Ekets etc. Generally, people from these two states are grouped as the Efik-Ibibio people and they have been neigbours to Igbos for thousands of years. With the rise in the agitation for Biafra on the national discourse, my question to the people of Cross River and Akwa Ibom is: Faced with choice of remaining in Nigeria and seceding with Igbos as Biafrans, which would you choose? I would appreciate it if only native indigenes of Cross River or Akwa Ibom answered as I think nobody should speak for them. Also state you ethnic group within these two states please. |
juicee1:And how do you explain those Igbo speaking people having Igbo surname or did those people adopt Igbo surnames as well? |
This is the flag hanging on the door to my living room. I wanted anyone coming to see me to know where I stand.

The terrorist state of Nigeria and their lack of respect to the right to peaceful protest Welcome to the zoo Lugard opened to the general public in 1914 called Nigeria Price of entry: unfortunate accident of being born there |
sandraokosun1:SS is just a geographical location and not a people. Speak only for your ethnic group |
pussyphilia:The funny thing is the Yorubas, most of who have never crossed the river Niger. They will look at a map of their artificially created Nigeria and its artificially created States and then tell anyone they have become experts in Igbo geography. Then they will create Monikas and come online to say that Igbos are only in 5 states lol |
I have always been of the opinion that if the minorities are happier in Nigeria, then Igbos should go it alone. The last thing we need is for someone to say that Igbos forced them into Biafra same way as Lugard forced all of us into Nigeria. |
mrvitalis:Lol. The Ijaws can stay in Nigeria and keep begging for 13%. I don't think any of the minorities realise that only the Igbos are strong enough to 'muscle' their way out of Nigeria. |
Barcanister is actually making a point here. The Portharcourt of 1912 is not the Portharcourt of now. The Ikwere farm lands of the Diobu people at Iguocha (also refered to as Ugwu Ocha, and of late, Igwe ocha) might have been the original site of Portharcourt but the city has since grown to encompass Okrika land. Using Enugu as an example. In 1909, the British acquired the lands of the Ngwo people and parts of Nike mainly to build the Colliery at Ngwo. Enugu has since grown to include the lands of the Ngwo and Nike people, but also to include Ogui-Nike people, Awkunanaw people and even Ugwu-Aji people. None of these Igbo clans can claim ownership of Enugu any more. There are parts of Portharcourt that are owned by the Okrikas. As for the Ikwere-Igbo people. The fact that Wike removed the 'N' from his surname so that it would not look Igbo (Nwike, Nwa-Ike) isn't gonna fool anybody same as some of you who took out 'w' from Chukwu to make it 'Chuku' don't fool no one |
mrvitalis:I don't think you know that resource control is one of the driving force of Biafra. I'm an Anambra man. My state is Oil producing and we have one of the biggest Gas deposits in the country. I want at least 50% of that. All the 25 provinces of Biafra will get at least 50% of whatever comes from their lands or waters. |
redsconsult:Who is talking about war for now? We are talking about a referendum. If Islamic fundamentalists come for you tomorrow, nobody will even beg you to fight. |
PassingShot:It has never worked and will never worked in Nigeria? I don't think many Nigerians remember that Biafra has already had its first Republic from 1967 to 1970. It's not like we are talking about something that has not been done before. As for the Itshekiris, they can stay committed to Nigeria if that is their wish. As long as they don't entertain the thought that the Delta-Igbos are part of their commitment. A lot of people are getting bothered over nothing |
ezeagu:To tell you the truth, a non Igbo would not know the difference between 'Iguocha', 'Igwe Ocha' or 'Igwuocha'. |
princdebola201:Must be either Yorubas,Hausas or Bini people his talking about. It was these people who built empires before the White man came buy fighting and siezing other people's land. |
Let nobody kid them selves. If things ever get so bad that you cannot feed, we will all stoop this low. No doubt about it. I know a transport magnate who owned a fleet of trailers and mini buses. Things later got so bad for him that he lost all his vehicles and was reduced to being the driver of the last mini bus he owned. Things even got worse for him and he sold his last mini bus, and while he was looking for another bus to drive, he temporarily became a conductor. As Nigerians say "Na condition make crayfish bend" |
