Terrorism is regarded as a very serious issue by most countries. That is why governments take a serious look at any group that they want to proscribe and declare a terrorist group. If a country is seen by the international community as proscribing groups and tagging them terrorists over flimsy and unserious reasons, it will seriously damage the credibility of that country and its government

Terrorism is no joking matter and only a fool will joke with terrorism.

In recent past, the Government proscribed the group known as the Indigenous People Of Biafra(IPOB) and there is already talk about government doing the same to the Shiites under the Islamic Movement Of Nigeria(IMN)

The government proscribed IPOB in 2017 when there was an alleged violent clash between IPOB and the Army during operation python dance.

The truth is is that violent clash between one group and the authorities is not reason enough to proscribe a group and tag them terrorists. That is why America and the EU disagreed with the Nigerian government that IPOB are terrorists. That is why IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, is traveling freely from one country to the other without disturbance

There is no country where protesting groups dont violently clash with the authorities, it is currently happening in Hong Kong. If governments were to tag every group that they have had violent confrontation with as terrorists, everybody will eventually be declared terrorist.

What makes a group terrorist is when they use violence even when the authorities are not there. A terrorist group must have a history of using violence on the people, whether the authorities are present or not. Terrorist groups dont wait until they clash with police or Army before they unleash violence. Herdsmen and Boko haram do not wait to clash with anybody before being violent and they dont go on the streets protesting.

No terrorist group does street protest!

That's why neither IPOB or shiites are terrorists

Why is it that we only hear about Shiites being violent when they clash with authorities during protest? Why is it that IPOB was not in the news about violence until operation python dance?

No terrorist group waits until they clash with Police/Army before they unleash violence!! If a group only becomes involved in violence when the security forces are present then it is most likely that the violence was caused, wholly or partly by the security forces themselves!

I watched the video. Even though Tanko did not mention Kanu by name, what he is saying about the surety going to jail in liu of the accused is wrong.

What I'm saying is that a surety should be given the opportunity to state why an accused cannot be in court. Abaribe was given that opportunity and that is injustice

I dont get some people. Abaribe takes on Kanu on bail. Government illegally sends Soldiers to go and kill an unarmed Kanus in his house. Kanu escapes this assassination attempt and leaves the country to safeguard his life.

The same government that caused Kanu to leave the country now accuses Kanu of jumping bail and wants to punish Abaribe

Had Soldiers succeeded in murdering Kanu, would the government be after Abaribe today? No.

So they are after Abaribe because Kanu managed to escape with his life?

In civilised countries, a surety is given the opportunity to explain why the accused cannot be court. In Nigeria, all.they care about is producing the accused, whether dead or alive

1) The alternative is to challenge Nigeria in war and defeat the country.

2) There is no where in the world where a sovereign country easily agree to it's own disintegration. The USA fought bitter civil war for years in the 1860s to prevent the secession of 10 Southern States.

Northern Ireland is still battling (as a component of The United Kingdom of Great Britain & Northern Ireland) to join Southern Ireland despite 800 years of British domination and union.
Catalonian unilateral independence referendum was annulled by the supreme Court of Spain despite 500years of Spanish rule.

Up till this moment, China is still claiming sovereignty over Taiwan eventhough Taiwan has operated as an independent country since 1949.

Hong Kong and Macao are still parts of China till today.

3) Countries that that have session clauses in their constitutions also tie it's success to the approval of other parts of the country.
In the USA, a State can only seceed if it's request is supported by 2/3rd votes in Congress and among the States' legislatures.

Then that means there will never be peace or progress in Nigeria. To hold people against their will in a country and still be hoping for unity is wishful thinking. The USA did fight a civil war to prevent some of its Southern states from seceding but even the USA are still entertaining talks for self rule from some of its constituencies like Alaska, Hawaii and Texas.

Northern Ireland you are talking about had a referendum in 1971. Scotland had a referendum in 2014 yet Britain has no secession clause in its constitution.

There is no country in the world that has secession clause in their constitution. What countries have is laws of self determination and Nigeria has this.

In my own opinion, the best way to get Biafra without going to war is

1) Firstly, define the area that will constitute Biafra without any ambiguity.

2) Rally the masses and POLITICAL LEADERS of the S/East to the Biafran side or get Biafran sympathizers voted into Governments of the S/East.

3) Mount pressure on your Political leaders to negotiate with the leaders of the other Geo-Political zones so that the Constitution can be amended to include secession clause which can then be invoked (with the consesus of other Nigerians) to ensure peaceful disembarment of the Country.

So in other words, if the leaders of the other geopolitical zones decide that secession will not be included in the constitution then these first 3 steps would be a waste of time right? So what is the point since in the end, it will be other Regions that will decide what will be? Another Region and their leaders will decide what right I have to my own freedom? That is complete rubbish

4) On a personal note, I don't believe there is anything sancrosant about the unity of Nigeria but Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB's methods won't work.

You may not agree with Nnamdi Kanu's method but your own suggestion is worse than his method
