Biafra is the least on a list of worries for nigeria. The essential problem is how to remove or eliminate the rentier class of people from all tribes in nigeria who relentlessly steal the country blind not trumpeting the anthems of a forgotten stillborn nation that died in an era before us. The political elite in this country has a vested interest in the continued existence of nigeria and no amount of nairaland rambling will change that until Nigerians (irrespective of origin) focus on tackling these people. |
Relax101:I said south east not igbo. southwest does not mean yoruba. |
Our kings are second only to the Gods. They ARE NOT GODs. Besides that guy was just a common chief. There are only 16 Royal Heads in Yorubaland. the rest are lucky chieftains and descendants of regional warlords. You dont see anyone attempting that with the Ooni of Ife or the Alaafin or the Alaake or even the Deji of Akure. Its only local chieftains that overstep their bounds that get beaten. |
its the same in the south east. The Ikwerre youth are masters at collecting taxes at every stage of development. Its the same in other areas in the south east. So stop yarning crap. |
a whole nation stuck in the past. what a shame!!! Does that mean your best years are behind you. !!! Shiorrrr!!!!!!! **moves on** |
haha. I can see our nairaland Roswell correspondent is here again. cap28 is always on the side of the tyrants and brigands who he sees as the vanguard of the african race. He has not accepted the fact that Kony is a deranged lunatic who has been raping women for decades, and killing people for a plainly crazy cause. Irrespective of Obama's personal agenda, its a fact that africa needs to solve this problem. however that will not happen because we harbor such elements as yourself within our ranks. Such elements who would rather support a Gbagbo, Ghadaffi or Mugabe rather than the downtrodden masses under them. I am sure this same twisted logic must have been the reigning ideology when Nigerians still languished under the military while dollops and other idiots in other countries argued the ideological merits & demerits of military tyranny in africa's largest country. Kony needs to be brought to justice. Al-shabaab need to be tamed and eliminated as a military force and movement ( any movement that would starve its people to maintain power has no sympathy from me). Museveni needs to go too. So also Biya, Mugabe and the rest of the tyrants. |
I have a theory. That I can't write huge applications by making group appeals like this. Seems democracy doesnt work on the Nigerian web. time to do it the military way: 1. Start the project and get it to a sensible level. 2. post it on a repo. 3. directly approach design folks ( ninjas like Remoranger or @namzo) to buy in to the idea. 4. drag dual_core kicking and screaming in to the circle 5. send a posse after dhtml ( bring back alive or , ) 6. do the same until all required personnel are present and ensure they meet A STRUCTURE on ground so they dont have to argue too much. (arguments allowed with a mutually accepted Steve-Jobs-Type-Dictator (moi) in place to say Yes or Maybe( I mean no) )tell me why this is a bad idea for a nigerian open source project. |
igbo2011:better for them to improve themselves and not rely on us. They should give us good products and not expect us to buy crap. Nobody buys water tanks every year so once you buy a crappy one, you are stuck with it. Better a good foreign/old one than new nigerian crap. |
Those who will rule the future are the ones who will focus on the solution not the problem. Writing out a list of problems and moaning about it is not the way. How Can we turn this situation to the nation's advantage? |
TO AURENFLANI: You have just had the priviledge of communicating with one of AFRICA's rising stars ( Puffed out chest )The dead woods are the lovers of tyrants, fraud-loving sycophants who still revere coup-plotters and sit-tight leaders. We will NEVER STOP telling the harsh truths necessary for Africa to progress. |
Let's review this shall we: ETHIOPIA: He was simply propping up the AU to further his crazed United States of Africa idea (with him at the head). MALI: Tales abound of how whole villages were forced to move because Ghadaffi investment companies bought up their land for farming or sale to greedy european hedge funds. Google this. CHAD: Deby is a dictator and Ghadaffi was propping him up and using him as a satellite. NO freedom here. next!!! NIGER: Same story as CHAD Central African Republic: Same story as CHAD. Liberia: He funded the RUF in sierra leone and some of the insurgent groups in Liberia so he could get his hands on the illicit diamond trade. Nothing to Praise here. As for the sirleaf investment, its simply a way to gain influence with the new government. Essentially he invested in states that shared borders with him for security reasons ( so that they wont be used as jump off points for attacking him ) and in oil/resource rich countries ( Liberia) for access to their resources and also to spite his enemies(SUDAN(to spite the Sudanese goverment, he was hosting rebels from the south),ETHIOPIA(he also funded them to spite the sudanese too)). And he did all these with money STOLEN from his people. |
So the whole Yoruba nation is marginalized because a few greedy politicians are screaming blue murder at being excluded from juicy contracts? ![]() |
the web used to be the one place of sanity free of nigerian issues. Am getting irritated at this new flood of online paid sycophants. |
another one? all the best dude. |
ghostofsparta:We are a nation with laws and those laws forbid the killing of humans, male or female, for sport, faith or passion. they forbid killing for ANY reason. therefore irrespective of your personal spritual affiliation, you are not PERMITTED to kill people simply beause your religion says so. SUCH PEOPLE DESERVE THE FIRING SQUAD. This is the 21st century dude, yorubas dont have to kill women to be true yoruba. I am one and I dont believe in killing women just to satisfy some SLLY age-old Dark Age tradition. |
Triple Yawn!!!!!!!!!! |
RSA:The bolded suggests some longstanding issues you have with him However i'll say this again, South African Interests |
Greedy old men gathering to lament the fact that they are not being allowed to steal from the pot like every one else. how does that concern millions of hardworking Yoruba people. Lef mata joor.
Yoruba leaders seek way out of political setback By RAZAQ BAMIDELE Friday October 07, 2011 More Stories on This Section Having dawned on the Yoruba nation that they are on zero ground in the scheme of things in the country, a forum was organized yesterday in Ikenne, the country home of the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo under the leadership of the Awolowo Matriarch, Chief Mrs. HID Awolowo. In her opening speech on the occasion, Mrs. Awolowo stated categorically that “this forum is to seek a way of moving the Yoruba nation forward and not at all seek leadership of any kind but to forge a unity that will enable us to be relevant again in the scheme of things in Nigeria.” According to her, if proper steps were not collectively taken, the fate of the nation would be hanging in the balance, asserting that “coming together and speaking with one voice again can bail us out of the wood.” In his own address, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuwade called for total forgiveness of and coming together of all the sons and daughters of the race for the benefit of all and not for self agrandisement. The royal father, who also lamented that the race was moving backward also warned that “unless we come together and speak with one voice, we may not be able to take our rightful position in the the country’s affairs.” The royal father, who said the forum was not to trade blames or pass bulk therefore appealed to all the Yoruba across the world to burry whatever grievances they might be nursing against one another and come together for the progress of the Yoruba nation. Setting the tone of the discussion while delivering his welcome address, a clergyman and the Vice Chairman of Yoruba Unity Forum, Most Reverend Ayo Ladigbolu regretted that in the political hierarchy Yoruba was not in the first 15, blaming the setback on this unity among the people of the race. He averred that unity and togetherness were the vital ingredients for peace, stability, growth and progress warning that where these ingredients were lacking, backwardness would always be the order of the day. Yoruba, according to him, had had it better at a time, saying the forum was for self appraisal to assess the past and the present to know where things went wrong with a view to chart a new cause of moving forward. Former Minister of Aviation, Chief Ebenezer Babatope in his own contribution admitted that Yoruba were on zero ground but quickly pointed out that it was not beyond redemption, saying the forum was to find a way out of the predicament. http://www.sunnewsonline.com/webpages/news/national/2011/oct/07/national-07-10-2011-018.html
if the country is being properly governed, it wont matter whether yorubas are there or not and nobody would be on zero ground. In fact @ the moment, the yoruba are not on zero ground. They couldnt care less because the whole country has always been on zero ground as long as it has been under the corrupt. |
where there's smoke there's fire? for so many people to respond with insults suggests there's some truth to this. |
^^^^ So now that you are free from discrimination, it is time to repay the world by commiting the same crime. He probably never spoke against apartheid because he was too busy fighting his own battles too. Dont make it a tribal thing. South africa goofed on this one. |
adopt one. ![]() |
same way we had tons and tons of COBOL programmers. where are they now? Lots of nigerians learnt FORTRAN as intro to programming but I dont see anyone coding in FORTRAN95/ High-performance FORTRAN nowadays. (emphasis because of circumstance and limited experience). I love Java too (dont get me wrong. Anyone who has coded Java using NetBeans definitely loves the language). I simply love PHP better. But for desktop apps, its either Java or VB.Net and for apps that straddle the divide (widgets, RIAs) I love Adobe Air. |
which has a larger more passionate community? which has more innovative applications being created? which powers the world's biggest websites? Java is cool. Yes. But it doesnt have the spread or ease of use of PHP. Besides most of the top coders in the world rely on the P/R scripting languages (PHP, Perl, Python, Ruby) instead of Java. It might seem like a simple personal choice until you attempt to do great stuff and find it so hard to get quality coders. PHP is still around and with more perlisms being added to the language, its growing ever stronger. Java on the other hand is still groping its way forward with Oracle's distaste (oh my dear Sun Micro!! How d mighty have fallen.) for opensource and constant attempts to frustrate them. |
Grow Up. Dandas:Probably we need to create an IGBO TRIBALISM forum to clearly show the world your true nature. Why so many posts targeting the Yoruba?Grow up. |
Does nigerian law permit using a surrogate mother? if yes, as long as you have working ovaries, you can get your child through the aid of another woman. |
New World Order? So because of that bogeyman, we must stop showing compassion for people under oppression. Just another Animal Farm argument on NL. Are the chinese oppressing tibetans, uighurs and so many other people ? Yes Are the chinese funding tyrants in africa? yes Are the chinese employing negative economic practices like dumping or slave labor to enter and dominate african markets? Yes Are the chinese usually ethical in securing contracts? No Are the chinese any good in the long term for any african country? A BLATANT NO. yet you would rather jonathan was slave to them. |
Though They will disagree vigorously but I see many tribalist threads usually started by people intent on painting the Yoruba black. Except for misguided brethren like musiwa, fstranger and the lot, I dont see yorubas deliberately starting threads bashing the igbos. Why the hate? |
If you africans continue to be lazy with change, then you leave the door open for 'self-appointed foreign messiahs' to come and exploit it for their own ends. remove Biya yourselves or be exploited by France and other "well-meaning Friends Of Cameroun". |
Just a small change. Lets stop penalising entrepreneurs for having the temerity to want to start a company. Checking a business name is not so hard that you have to bribe some clerk in abuja to do so. Place all this info online and we can satisfy our curiosity at a cheaper cost to the state. even business registration should be much easier. why all the blackmarketty feel to it? the process shouldnt be so so complex that you would need to run after lawyers to register a company. It should be possible to register a company under 5 days or even 2 days. |
They should not be allowed to foist their barbaric behaviour on other people. Murder is a crime in nigeria and if you kill a woman who sees Oro, that is Murder and such a person should be made to die in prison for that. if they wont desist then they should forget about it. Arrant nonsense. |
