There's a historical solution to this problem. Barbed wire. The cowboys ( who were America's Fulani equivalent) were lawless and could kill for their herds too while ranchers and landowners complained. This problem was only solved when vast areas directly in the path of the herds were cordoned off with barbed wire and the farmlands became largely inaccessible to them. The same can be done in this case, we can cordon off very large areas with barbed wire and short spiked shrubs/hedges to prevent the herds moving into farmlands in the south. To ensure farmers comply,we simply make it mandatory for all farms above a certain minimum size to have barbed wire or spiky hedged fencing. That should end the careers of many of the cattle Fulani (like it ended that of the cowboys) and convince them to join their town brethren. I know some of you will complain about the cost but seriously its a necessary action. We do it once and for all and end this centuries-old scourge. |
Ilorin Passengers should please remember to take some yam cuttings & compost with them. Lagos people always appreciate full grown yams. |
we live in a banana republic dear, get used to it. |
thanks for providing some perspective. The somali are simply suffering under the clan lords. If there's a way to break such or reform the country in a manner that ensures they all have sovereignity in their many little fiefdoms, i'm guessing that will solve all the constant fighting. |
about time. One at a time Africa's issues are getting solved. The Dark Continent accelerates out of the Dark Ages to the soundtrack of clusterbombs and dying dictators. |

Kobojunkie:Busy fighting the "imperialists" on some other thread. blacksta:Yep. Cap28, Sun of god, dede1 and a few of them. so quick to pull up youtube videos by similar misguided ameri-phobes and paid ghadaffi/russian propagandists. |
typical conspiracy bull. The money was frozen to prevent ghadaffi touching it. it is being returned to libya. I vividly recall south africa actually voting to block the transfer of some money to the TNC after they had already been recognized by many members of the security council on flimsy grounds. If they dont have the money in hand now, its countries like south africa that are standing in the way of such. Unless the TNC is stupid/ corrupt, i dont think they made any commitment to pay for the NATO war effort. thats for the participants to resolve with the UN or do we have to pay the UN for peacekeeping too? |
Proverbs 7 habits of highly effective people. Think and grow rich. the art of war by sun tzu. 48 laws of power The Books of How and Why My Book of Bible stories. Exodus,I&II Kings, I&II Chronicles, Judges ( read them as war stories when I was young, bored and already run out of novels to read). |
while you are at it, try not to miss **the big blowholes on airport road **all the poorly designed buildings in the jakpa annex and the mass of ugly buildings in ekpan. **the slum-like Edjeba village(though with near-permanent light from shell & NNPC) with roads so tiny you wonder why such a tiny place has traffic jams. ** your housing estates with poor drainage( Is there a law against building drainage/gutters when you build roads). ** those over-hyped and desperately dirty estates on airport road. ** ugly dingy hotels where you sleep with one eye open (case in point. That big hotel on airport road on the right while coming from shell just before the market. if you need an early death from nicotine-fueled cancer, thats the place). **As beautiful as you claim, Life ends at 7pm. So so boring. Disclaimer; I love warri.
[li]Its one of the few places where you can leave home by 6.45 and get to the office by 7.00. In fact you can forget something at home and go back from the office with the expectation of concluding the whole trip in 30 minutes. Try that in Lagos or PH. (might as well close for the day).[/li] [li] Every one's trying to form sharpman which makes the city very fun[/li]
|
4 Play:The same brother leader that funded both the ulster paramilitary and their rivals, the Irish Republican army. The same brother leader that funded the RUF in sierra leone. The same brother leader that grabbed land with bribes and threats in Mali for sales to European hedge funds. The same brother leader that funded global roving assassination squads to kill all runaway Libyans who went against him. brother leader indeed. ceah:Is it the same ANC that still supports Mugabe, Santos and other tyrants? They are just as misguided as you are. |
@harakiri and co. Spare us the bulls.h.it. We know you are all suffering Stockholm complex and have fallen in love with the tyrants ruling you. GEJ in spite of his many faults stands as the elected representative of 150m nigerians (even if I think he was a poor choice) and his actions were on point. Ghadaffi was a tyrant and an incompetent one at that. Libya and Africa are better for it. His death is just the beginning of africa's rebirth. This rebirth will be washed in the blood of sit-tight leaders and brigands accompanied by the online and offline moans of simple-minded tyrant-lovers |
Well the Alliance for Democracy/ACN have resumed their war against Osun state civil servants once again. Now you wonder why Osun state is always contrarian in Yoruba politics. They are not being treated well while relatives under the same party in Lagos are having a fine time. Definitely ACN is losing the next one. If only the labour party are smart enough to capitalise on the failings of the major parties in this state. Seriously unfair. |
^^ they are not to blame. We are. The architects of our own misfortune. If we had used the loans for the right purpose, we wouldn't be in this state. Let's stop avoiding responsibility. Let's stop sticking our heads in the sand like ostriches. Wise, responsible leaders and an active populace are the joy of a nation. Evil, irresponsible leaders(Ghadaffi, Ben Ali, Mubarrak, Mugabe, Biya) with passive followers are the bane of africam You cannot argue with reality. It is what it is. |
Nope he's not, you are. You sit under different tyrannical governments. Elsewhere in the world, people rise up and fight oppression but you people have not only allowed the kidnapper to rule but you have also fallen in love with the kidnapper. Some even come here to defend tyrants. Kony will get his just deserts. A stable and peaceful africa partnering with the US is in the long-term best interest of the americans hence their recent actions. They would rather be seen as saviours like they used to be seen( even though we know better). If God wants to use the persians(NATO, US etc) to remove the babylonians(tyrants, terrorists and criminals) in our lives, no problem. If we keep faith, we shall get to Jerusalem. |
And yet my brethren will get angry when the Igbo start inflammatory threads. Whats the sole point of this thread now if not to start more tribal arguments/ Ki se gbogbo nkan lo ye ki a ma fi waja. Gbogbo ojo ko logun. E ma rora se. |

Let all NLanders beware. The address below is desperately fake. Chevron would not recruit people using a live.com address. thats so lame. |

1. Reform the SSS. everything else will depend on this. 2. Separate the governors from the local government funds. Let every one collect directly from the center so we can audit them separately. 3. Mandate each ministry to reduce size to not more than 4 parastatals each, choice of what to cut is up to them. deadline: 6 months. 4. Convert the NYSC into a form of military draft training with civil service projects thrown in. 5. Stop funding the NFF(51 years, no world cup). If it cant survive, let it die. 6. Convert all Nigerian prisons to 6-storey complexes. and use any space saved to build more prisons. 7. Create a mandatory industrial apprenticeship scheme for technicians nationwide. 8. Create a small Marine-Like expeditionary arm of the Nigerian army specially trained to handle local insurgencies like ND crisis and foreign cases like peace-keeping or unilateral interventions and armed to the frigging teeth with the latest weapons, and gadgets. All sharpshooters. 9. Mandate the C.A.C to automate all operations relating to company registration online and ensure a significant reduction in registration fees and processing time. 10. Declare tax holidays for local producers of rice and other food imports. 11. If there's one project I must complete before I leave: RAIL TRANSPORT. even if we have to bring in entrepreneurs to own rail companies, it must be completed. 12. Entry to Nigerian Civil Service will be dependent on passing a Civil Service Exam (yes malpractices will occur but at least we can stop recruiting most non-entities). 13. Remove the JAMB quota system. By force if necessary. 14. States that seem to have achieved power sufficiency e.g Rivers will be separated from the Nigerian central grid and allowed to accelerate their power plans. We focus on saving the rest. 15. The Nigerian border with Benin Republic will be converted into a physical border. Trenches, Barbed wire, Helicopters, Dogs, Pressure sensors, Reinforced Pillars, Border Patrols. Trespassers will be shot. Survivors shot again. 16. Mandate NCC to release the ISM Band for usage for wifi purposes. 17. Request that Tertiary IT Education curriculum be dictated/approved by the Ministry for Information Tech not just the NUC. Start a Microsoft/Oracle/FG initiative to alter our curriculums to fit a more forward looking nation. 18. Increase size of the nigerian Civil Defense Force and increase their functions. 19. Identify 15 key low-traffic roads in each LGA and award them to reputable contractors to be cement-paved (lasts longer on low-traffic roads, more aesthetically beautiful), debit the accounts of the local governments concerned. Said projects will be 15% subsidized by the FG. Pass law that failure to conclude contracts under this scheme will attract a jail term and million-dollar fine for contractor concerned. 20. Mandate residential accomodation for all tertiary institutions with more than 10,000 students. 21. Looters who confess their embezzlement PRIOR to my administration will be allowed to keep 10% of all the stole (with interest calculated by CBN using the MPR for the periods concerned) if less than $10m. Failure to do so will result in lifetime imprisonment. Undeclared Loot above $10m attract the firing squad. |
essentially you are begging the populace to like Mode 9. he should blend with the spirit of the times. All great music artists flow with the times. The static ones die out. Change is the only constant and hence that which goes against it deserves what it gets. enough said. |
refer to the post up there where I criticized Museveni and to my many posts on nairaland listing him among the evils in africa. I dont think the americans are saints, however we need to use them to lance the boil called Kony since africans have chosen not to solve their own problems. |
Did u rent your abode as a church or as a place of residence? Christians show consideration for others. Striving is unchristian. You can have your fellowship sessions without disturbing your neighbours. |
definitely. |
besides, ghadaffi was simply a more benevolent tyrant but still a tyrant. He's no different from Biya and the others. |
nku5:they can't and wont shut up. they have ALL been trained to see all problems as tribal issues. Until land reform is tackled on a national scale, our progress will definitely be stunted. why should it be so hard to buy land to setup companies? |
cap28:With regard to the first bolded statement, how did you make that deduction from what I wrote? Irrespective of whoever created al-shabaab, it is now a problem just like the al-qaeda and problems need solutions. as for Kony, is he a lunatic? answer yes or no with details. |
I am starting to believe this cap28 dude is bipolar. |
kettykin:Dont be surprised to see us happy to see you leave. What you have to realise is that the sky is wide enough for all birds to fly. If you leave, others will take your place. its that simple. besides, the smarter ones among you know where the market is and they will stay where the money is. LAGOS. |
