@ekt_bear artificial boundary or not, the constitution has created the states and they must be respected. Otherwise Rivers would be funding projects in AkwaIbom( similar origins and tribes) or even Delta. Lets face facts and stop rationalising. They are free to have their pan-southwestern party but must work within the confines in which they were elected by the occupants/indigenes thereof. |
^^^^ I dont see why anyone should be accursed for speaking his mind. Counter his arguments with fact/reason or keep quiet. You guys have not convinced any right thinking person reading this thread one way or the other. You just keep trumpeting Delta Delta. I couldnt care less whether Beaf is a runaway Jos entity. The simple fact is that this entity has stated something that must be either proved right or wrong. And if he's right, is that a good thing for a governor to do? that is the question. |
dayokanu:But is he telling the truth about aregbesola? |
paper vs ebook oil vs solar. the tribal wars continue, |
So SA is an enemy of freedom because it refused to access to dalai lama;a separatist for that matter ? Anyways, what will you also tell me about US that has also refused to recognize a palesthine sovereign state ?
I guess we can call the palestinians separatists too abi which country tried to maintain a tyrant in power in Ivory Coast (actually sent a warship)? South Africa which country tried to maintain another tyrant in power in Libya? South Africa which country still actively supports another tyrant in Zimbabwe? South Africa |
Your reasoning is not logical. If you have one Premier thief with his commisioners numbering about 20-30, is that not better than say 6 Governors thieves with their total number of commisioners numbering close to 200! This is aside Personal Assistants and Special Advisers that would sum up to thousands. We had more developments under the regional structure than under the states. The states structure has encouraged political jobbers and stratified administrative structures with poor efficiencies. For example, the South West would only need the Lagos State administrative structure to function as a region while the salaries and allowances saved from the Governors, commisioners, permanent secretaries, legislators etc would be chanelled towards development of the region. That overhead is always about 60% of the states budgets and that would be applied to fund capital projects. Regions are better!!!!
our progress was not solely because of the regional structure but the parliamentary system. It meant less power ( unlike our presidential/governorship state where so much power is concentrated in the hands of one man.) concentration and decisions had to be argued out before they were taken. as for the cost-savings, no doubt there might be but its not guaranteed and depends only on the person in charge. stealing will still proceed. |
Beaf:God bless you. I still saw the cretin in Lagos last week in his signature hummer. He has no excuse governing that way. When the ACN fever was sweeping the state, i chose not to comment ( simply because I hated PDP just as much) because i saw them as the much hated AD in new skin. I guess Aregbe is now acting true to type. The painful part for me is that as an ilesa resident, I saw the hope placed on this man (as if he was going to move the capital to ilesa) and I feel pity for the ijesa as it is now a deep dissapointment for them. Its painful to hope so much and have your own misplace such hope. |
makes no difference. if governors are thieves, then premiers will be super thieves. No point. |
So it seems south africa wants to get known as an enemy of freedom. all right.
If you are looking forward to meeting him,why not travel to his hometown and do that ? South Africa won't sacrifice her national interest and relations with china just to satisfy a separatist.
Nobody shows any respect for yes-men. South african interests are distinct from chinese interests and should remain so. The world needs an impartial south africa more than it needs a power-hungry, myopic and distasteful one. |
@darqly always refreshing to see someone make excuses for accepting defeat. Blame fate or luck.nice work. |
Idea: Set registration fee @ average cost of books you have. Get more customers than the number of books you have. Charge them dirt cheap fees. Have deeply persistent follow-up staff. @Seun, you know where to get me ![]() |
What will happen to all our music artists who are getting paid millions by the hour and spending it on real estate like opening clubs, hotels? What about pple like some of the mohits crew who are now into diesel sales? Its just pure filth. I have come to the conclusion that there is an unconscious conspiracy by the older generations to prevent the millenials (79-90s) from surpassing or uprooting them. Before d decade is over, expect a lot of strife as our generation will be old enough to be VOTED FOR and eligible for ALL posts. THEN we'll take this nation back. In the meantime, I chase the next million. Like barrels in d desert, we shall cross this desert of success, one million @ a time. |
whatever the conclusion, the simple fact is that the two languages used in the video were ENGLISH and IGBO. |
I wont unless I intend renting the said car out for car-hire or leased transport. |
Do you have a clearly recognizable claim to that local government( e.g a well known family house or ancestral home)? Find out and make sure your claim to indigeneship (still important in nigeria) is valid. Do you know any of the power-brokers in town e.g the local monarch, the NURTW boss or similar thuggish entity. Have you done anything of note in that town e.g tarring a road, sinking a borehole? it might be a good idea to start as councillor and consider your salary from that period as an investment. Spend it all on your ward and make their lives happy. wait for the two tenures (yes two) of your immediate boss to be completed and start your own campaign. Dont overshadow him/her but try to be quite visible. Membership of local clubs is also useful (Lions club, Rotary, Sports Club) etc. For your campaign, you will need really good jingles and an emblem. ACN==> the broom Aregbesola (Osun)===> Oranmiyan essentially, give them something to hold on to. Some cash will be helpful too. And also, identify who the important intellectuals in town e.g provosts of tertiary institutions , doctors, entrepreneurs/business owners and pay them visits/ make friends with them. Essentially dont fall victim to the typical diaspora nigerian's campaign strategy. They show up at the election booth with only a few measly supporters preceded by some half-hearted campaigning before the election on a few side-streets and facebook supported by cheaply printed posters displayed at the few places in town they are comfortable with. Unless you are only interested in your dear wife's vote. |
this is cheating. insult upon injury. You steal the poor dude's things, get him beat up and still threaten his life. ![]() |
Great advice @chaircover |
I hope they rise up. its about time. One less tyrant will do the world a lot of good. |
lets hope he wont rig the election |
Reason: The yoruba language just like english is adept at adapting words from other languages especially the Hausa and Nupe with whom we have had a lot of dealings. ARABIC HAUSA YORUBA ENGLISH albasa albasa alubosa (onion) Sheik Sheik seriki (chief) -------- buredi(bu-gan) bread ---------- moto motorcar ----------- reluwe railway arabiya ----------- larubawa Arabic Jumaat Jumaat Jimoh(Eti) Friday Nama Nomo beef Tatashe Tatase Species of pepper |
Like Jesus said, better to sit in the middle and be invited to the head of the table than to be asked to stand up for the rightful owner. When we DESERVE it, we will be invited. Lets not behave like the upstart South Africans who want international relevance with neither the economic or the military power to do so. |
Not interested in joining the ongoing tribal warfare (coldfusion vs PHP) but at the end of the day, the interests of the customer is paramount. If they are more concerned with maintainability and not being tied to a select few CF programmers, PHP/.NEt would probably be better ideas. If they want reliability backed by tested components, CF might give them that. Like VB, it has that RAD attribute and your typical journeyman/paycheck-earner programmer can bash out working code relatively easily without too much effort(reusing components). The end USUALLY justifies the means. Lets end the insults. |
ebonyvibe:forgive me for judging a young bachelor with no major stated responsibilities by my standards. I assumed a normal elite lifestyle while making those comments though. |
I work in Nigeria as a young Bachelor, and I make a little over 500,000 Naira per month, and I can state that it isnt enough at all. A decent 3 bedroom flat in a good neighbourhood in Port-harcourt now ranges between 700,000 - 1.5million Naira a year, Now factor in the cost of running the house, bills and fees, Abeg abeg abeg, she must work o!!
Dude, no lie. 700k rent amounts to a little over 50k a month. there's still 450 left. 45k out of that will cover your feeding and entertainment costs. further 45k and all other costs (NEPA, GEN, DSTV< Petrol) are covered. There's still enough to invest and live well. People are posting on this forum as if 500k was really chump change. Its definitely enough to live a very good life in ANY nigerian city. Thats 6m a year if am not mistaken. Unless you are a deeply profligate spender, you cannot spend more than 2m of that on personal expenses and there's still enough to buy land in lekki, mowe, agbara or kurudu for resale. @Poster; My wife will work. 1. So that she wont get bored sitting around the house and then run away with the first male visitor with a good smile. 2. So my kids can have someone to pay for their chocolate and the dentist fees. 3. So we can make more money faster(Imagine main salary of 500k with wife supporting it with 230k-250k, thats 750k inflow to the family every month. Good stuff.) |
Its a give and take thing. Started freelancing immediately after school before NYSC(8wks). I got money all the way through NYSC (in spite of the fact that the NYSC salary I got was equivalent to OND salaries in some banks then + Free transport both ways). Left youth service with a few hundred thousands which I promptly lost in the first stock market crash (note to self: buy land next time big money lands). Started work immediately with a huge paycheck and all cash from Dad ceased. I now send gifts home and fund family projects though My dad still likes doing stuff for me( like buying books i might like or flight tickets to convince me not to take road trips). I allow it because it makes them feel good to do so. Besides, this life is short and its better we bond and enjoy each other while blood still runs. But essentially, I got cash until end of NYSC. |
it is well |

Definitely not a christian thing: Christians forgive their enemies and pray for them. |
its going to be harder to rob people. You will have to plan your robbery well, otherwise that rich neighbour might have bought enough weapons for all male children and self(Smoking armed robbers left, right and center), |
