This, the importers have been doing by luring unsuspecting Nigerians with banned synthetic colouring agents which are eye-catching and other substandard ingredients and with sell at cheap prices! However, it has been established that the more red your food is via substandard tomato paste, the more you endanger your life and that of your family,” he stated.
Umeiofia who explained that Ric-Giko shared their standard with tomato paste produced in the United State, South Africa and EU lamented the faking of some genuine tomato paste in the country. He said wholesome tomato paste such as RIC-GIKO should be a rich source of Lycopene, a photochemical with many possible health benefits and a natural pigment that gives many red fruits and vegetables their colour.
“It has been scientifically proven that Lycopene contains a potent antioxidant that stabilizes free radicals making them harmless and helping the body to dispose of them thereby reducing the risks of cancer and other Non-Communicable Diseases, NCDs.
However, the substandard tomato paste contain little or no Lycopene and secondly, the banned colouring used by importers of deadly tomato paste are most times impossible to dispose of from the body. The colourings therefore stick to veins, arteries and vital organs and accumulate to cause cancer, hypertension and other diseases.
In addition, the banned colouring agents have been proven to cause poor neurological development in children; causing hyperactivity, poor concentration and, hence, poor performance in education and progress in life.

U.S. District Judge Lewis A. Kaplan delivered a blistering analysis of Bankman-Fried and his crimes before announcing a sentence that was half of what prosecutors sought and less than a quarter of the 105 years recommended by the court’s Probation officers.
“There is absolutely no doubt that Mr. Bankman-Fried’s name right now is pretty much mud around the world,” Kaplan said of the 32-year-old man who once seemed atop the cryptocurrency world before his businesses collapsed in November 2022, leaving customers, investors and lenders short over $11 billion, which the judge ordered him to forfeit.
He was convicted in November of fraud and conspiracy — a dramatic fall from a crest of success that included a Super Bowl advertisement and celebrity endorsements from stars like quarterback Tom Brady, basketball star Stephen Curry and comedian Larry David.
Kaplan imposed the sentence in the same Manhattan courtroom where, four months previously, Bankman-Fried testified that he had intended to revolutionize the emerging cryptocurrency market with his innovative and altruistic ideas, not steal. The judge said Bankman-Fried repeatedly committed perjury when he told lies from the witness stand.
Kaplan said the sentence reflected “that there is a risk that this man will be in position to do something very bad in the future. And it’s not a trivial risk at all.” He added that it was “for the purpose of disabling him to the extent that can appropriately be done for a significant period of time.”
Kaplan said he would advise the Federal Bureau of Prisons to send Bankman-Fried to a medium-security prison near San Francisco because his notoriety, his association with vast wealth, his autism and social awkwardness are likely to make him especially vulnerable at a high-security facility.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Nicolas Roos had recommended a prison sentence of 40 to 50 years, saying it was the only way to ensure “the defendant doesn’t do it again.”
“The defendant victimized tens of thousands of people and companies, across several continents, over a period of multiple years. He stole money from customers who entrusted it to him; he lied to investors; he sent fabricated documents to lenders; he pumped millions of dollars in illegal donations into our political system; and he bribed foreign officials. Each of these crimes is worthy of a lengthy sentence,” prosecutors had said in a court filing.
Prosecutors said Bankman-Fried misappropriated billions of dollars to fuel his quest for influence and dominance in the new industry, and had illegally used money from FTX depositors to cover his expenses, which included purchasing luxury properties in the Caribbean, bribes to Chinese officials and private planes.
Kaplan agreed with prosecutors Thursday that Bankman-Fried should not get leniency just because some investors and customers might get some of their losses back. He noted that customers lost about $8 billion, investors lost $1.7 billion and lenders were shorted by $1.3 billion.
Given a chance to speak, Bankman-Fried stood and apologized in a rambling statement, saying: “A lot of people feel really let down. And they were very let down. And I’m sorry about that. I’m sorry about what happened at every stage.”
He added, “My useful life is probably over. It’s been over for a while now, from before my arrest.”
Bankman-Fried, wearing his khaki-colored prison uniform and chained at the ankles, seemed to briefly get emotional as he spoke for about 20 minutes, expressing regret about “a lot of mistakes” but casting some of the blame onto others. His trademark messy and bushy hair had returned from the trimmer look he displayed at trial.
The judge later criticized those remarks, saying he expressed “never a word of remorse for the commission of terrible crimes.”
Defense lawyer Marc Mukasey said his client was misunderstood.
“Sam was not a ruthless financial serial killer who set out every morning to hurt people,” Mukasey said. “Sam Bankman-Fried doesn’t make decisions with malice in his heart. He makes decisions with math in his head.”

Furthermore, countries like China and Russia must acknowledge their role in enabling Hamas by providing them with moral courage and diplomatic support. Their refusal to condemn Hamas's actions sends a dangerous message to other terrorist organizations worldwide. It is high time for these nations to reassess their priorities and stand on the side of justice and morality.
In conclusion, the West's failure to confront Hamas only serves to empower them further, perpetuating greater havoc against the Jewish community and threatening global stability. It is incumbent upon world leaders to prioritize the safety and security of all people by unequivocally condemning terrorism in all its forms.

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 has triggered the deepest crisis in Russia’s relations with the West since the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis.
Speaking to Russian air force pilots, Putin said the U.S.-led military alliance had expanded eastwards towards Russia since the 1991 fall of the Soviet Union but that Moscow had no plans to attack a NATO state.
We have no aggressive intentions towards these states,” Putin said, according to a Kremlin transcript released on Thursday.
“The idea that we will attack some other country Poland, the Baltic States, and the Czechs are also being scared — is complete nonsense. It’s just drivel.”
The Kremlin, which accuses the U.S. of fighting against Russia by supporting Ukraine with money, weapons and intelligence, says relations with Washington have probably never been worse.
Asked about F-16 fighters which the West has promised to send to Ukraine, Putin said such aircraft would not change the situation in Ukraine.
“If they supply F-16s, and they are talking about this and are apparently training pilots, this will not change the situation on the battlefield,” Putin said.
“And we will destroy the aircraft just as we destroy today tanks, armoured vehicles and other equipment, including multiple rocket launchers.”
Putin said that F-16 could also carry nuclear weapons.
“Of course, if they will be used from airfields in third countries, they become for us legitimate targets, wherever they might be located,” Putin said.
Putin’s remarks followed comments earlier in the day by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba that the aircraft should arrive in Ukraine in the coming months.
Ukraine, now more than two years into a full-fledged war against Russia, has sought F-16s for many months.
Belgium, Denmark, Norway and the Netherlands are among countries which have pledged to donate F-16s. A coalition of countries has promised to help train Ukrainian pilots in their use.

For the first time in almost 30 years, part of Donald Trump’s business empire has gone public. Trading started with a bang, but the frenzy eased considerably by the closing bell, with shares ending well off their highs of the day.
Trump Media & Technology Group, the owner of struggling social media platform Truth Social, began its long-delayed journey as a public company at Tuesday’s opening bell under the ticker symbol “DJT.”
The stock surged about 56% at the open, to $78, and trading was briefly halted for volatility. Trump Media shares stabilized around $70 before fizzling. By the closing bell, Trump Media ended at $57.99, up by a more modest 16% on the day.
Despite the late-day slide, Wall Street is still assigning Trump Media an eye-popping valuation of nearly $11 billion — a price tag that experts warn is untethered to reality.
Shares of Digital World Acquisition Corp., the shell company that became Trump Media Tuesday morning, have spiked more than 200% so far this year. That includes a 35% surge Monday after the deal closed. Shares popped again at the start of trading Tuesday — investors’ first opportunity to trade the stock after the merger, under the new DJT ticker.
The skyrocketing share price comes despite the fact that Trump Media is burning through cash; piling up losses; and its main product, Truth Social, is losing users.
“This is a very unusual situation. The stock is pretty much divorced from fundamentals,” said Jay Ritter, a finance professor at the University of Florida’s Warrington College of Business, who has been studying initial public offerings (IPOs) for over 40 years.
Ritter said the closest parallel would be GameStop, AMC and other so-called meme stocks that skyrocketed during Covid-19 as an army of retail traders piled in. He said Trump Media is likely worth somewhere around $2 a share — nowhere near its closing stock price of $58.
“The underlying business doesn’t seem to be worth much. There is no evidence this is going to become a large, highly profitable company,” he said[b]. “I’m reasonably confident the stock price will eventually drop to $2 a share and could even go below that if the company blows through the money it got from the merger.”[/b]
The eye-popping valuation is a massive windfall for Trump, who owns a dominant stake of 79 million shares.
At Tuesday’s opening price of nearly $78, that stake is worth nearly $6 billion, although lock-up restrictions likely prevent Trump from selling or even borrowing against those shares anytime soon. The value of Trump’s stake ended at $4.6 billion at the closing bell.
Trump Media generated just $3.4 million of revenue through the first nine months of last year, according to filings. The company lost $49 million over that span.
And yet the market is valuing Trump Media at approximately $11 billion.
For context, Reddit was only valued at $6.4 billion at its IPO last week — even though it generated 160 times more revenue than Trump Media. (Reddit hauled in $804 million in revenue in 2023, compared with Trump Media’s annualized revenue of about $5 million.)
“At these levels, it appears untethered to its underlying business results,” said Matthew Kennedy, senior IPO strategist at Renaissance Capital. “Eventually, valuations tend to fall back on fundamentals. That means this stock is definitely at risk of plummeting back down to earth.”
Michael Ohlrogge, an associate professor of law at the NYU School of Law, told CNN there is “no way to square the current stock price with anything that would be called a rational valuation for this company.”
Truth Social is tiny Truth Social faces real challenges and is still dwarfed by its rivals.
Truth Social had just 494,000 monthly active US users on iOS and Android combined in February, according to Similarweb stats provided to CNN. That’s a small fraction of the 75 million on X (formerly known as Twitter) and 142 million on Facebook.

Even Threads had more than 10 times the number of monthly active users that Truth Social had in February, according to Similarweb.
Not only that, but Truth Social is shrinking. Its monthly active users plunged 51% year over year in February, Similarweb stats show. The number of unique visitors to Truth Social’s website was 648,000, down 20% year over year.
Kennedy described Trump Media as a “meme-SPAC,” alluding to both its astronomical valuation and the fact it was formed through a merger with a special purpose acquisition company, or SPAC.
“Stocks that trade on momentum are subject to falling rapidly,” he said.
Jonathan Macey, a law professor at Yale, told CNN last week that the Digital World stock price is “clearly a bubble.”
Of course, history shows that bubbles can always inflate further, and it’s very difficult to pinpoint when they will pop.
That means Trump Media’s share price could keep skyrocketing for now — even if those gains are not backed up by fundamentals. In theory, a rival company or wealthy group could swoop in and acquire Trump Media even at these price levels, although Ritter said that’s very unlikely.
“We’ve already seen with other meme stocks that even if they eventually fall back to reflecting a fundamental value, the process can take quite a long time,” said Ohlrogge, the NYU professor. “There’s every reason to believe that this stock could remain at highly inflated prices much longer, due to the enthusiasm that Trump’s supporters have for it.”
‘Stay away from it’ Matthew Tuttle, CEO of Tuttle Capital Management, told CNN that Trump Media is probably not worth anything close to what the market is valuing it at.
“But it doesn’t really matter,” he said.
Tuttle noted that there is a history of SPACs spiking on their first day of trading, and he placed options bets that stand to make money if the stock shoots up.
“Because of what this is, and because it’s Trump — you’ve got people expecting this thing will take off [on Tuesday,]” he said.
But Tuttle advised everyday investors to use extreme caution trading Trump Media, noting the implied volatility is “insane.”
“Stay away from it,” said Tuttle, who has sold his shares of Digital World but still owns options that would pay out if the stock rises sharply. “Normally, I wouldn’t touch this with a 10-foot pole. But I’m not playing with much money and I already made a lot on this. If I wake up tomorrow and it’s trading at $1, oh well.”
Beyond the valuation concerns, there are other risks involved in Trump Media.
For example, this company’s future is inextricably linked to that of one person: Trump.
“There is a unique key man risk because Donald Trump is the chairman, top shareholder and the most popular user. He is one man, and he’s 77 years old,” said Kennedy.
Not only that, but Trump is facing felony prosecution in multiple simultaneous cases.
Trump Media noted that risk in SEC filings, saying: “Donald J. Trump is the subject of numerous legal proceedings, the scope and scale of which are unprecedented for a former President of the United States and current candidate for that office. An adverse outcome in one or more of the ongoing legal proceedings in which President Trump is involved could negatively impact TMTG and its Truth Social platform.”
A history of Trump bankruptcies Not only does Trump himself face reputational issues, but his companies have a history of going bankrupt.
The last Trump company to go public, Trump Hotels and Casino Resorts in 1995, used the same DJT ticker symbol. It went bankrupt in 2004 and was delisted from the New York Stock Exchange.
Trump Media even highlighted Trump’s history of bankruptcies as a risk in its SEC filing.
“A number of companies that were associated with President Trump have filed for bankruptcy. There can be no assurances that TMTG will not also become bankrupt,” the company said.
Another question is what happens when the lock-up restrictions on Trump and other key insiders lapse in the coming months.
Trump’s legal troubles could give him a reason to sell his commanding stake, an outcome that would threaten Trump Media’s share price.
Betting on a Trump victory in November Other insiders, including the sponsor of the SPAC, would also be able to sell.
Like any social media business, Truth Social faces pressure to grow its user base, expand its advertising business and build a subscription service.
Those tasks are complicated by the polarizing political backdrop where at least some portion of the country views the Trump movement skeptically.
Kennedy said that in many ways, Trump Media going public amounts to a “multibillion-dollar bet” on a second Trump term, a return to the White House that could be lucrative for his social media network.
“If he wins in November, Truth Social will probably be the primary means of presidential communication,” said Kennedy. “That’s the bet here.”
Ohlrogge, the NYU professor, agrees that the election could prove to be a real turning point for this company.
“If Trump were to lose the 2024 election, I’d imagine the stock price would crater quite quickly,” he said. “If he were to win, it could conceivably stay higher for longer, maybe much longer.”

Again, there are proposed states from the existing 5 Southeastern States some of which are Adada State to be created majorly from Enugu State with capital in Nsukka. Another one is Etiti State that would have a part carved out from every part of the existing 5 Southeastern States with Capital in Okigwe. So, the Southeast is not insisting on carving out a state for themselves from Rivers and Delta.
With that said, the Anioma people of Delta North are Igbos and have never denied that since the time of the Civil War till this day.
The Anioma people - Ukwuani, Ika, etc - have no affinity with Bini. Not in culture, not in language, not in food, not in anything. The former governor of Delta State and PDP Vice Presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections, Ifeanyi Okowa attested to this on a national television. So, I wonder where that “affinity with their Bendel brothers” is coming from.
Similarly, in Rivers, people of Obigbo (Oyigbo 👎) are Igbo people that have never denied being Igbo.
Furthermore, we have Etche People, Ndoni, Bonny, who do not have identity crisis and have never denied being Igbo.
Even in Ikwerre, where identity crisis is prevalent, not every Ikwerre deny his Igbo root and heritage. The former Minister of Transportation and former Governor of the state, Rotimi Amaechi, attested to this fact on a national television where he clearly stated that he’s Igbo and no one can take his Igbo heritage from him.
So, where is this your claim coming from?
Why do you lots devote so much time in trying to tell Igbos of Delta and Rivers that they are not Igbos while you never expend same energy in telling Yorubas of Kogi and Kwara that they are not Yorubas, why?
Anioma is NOT ethnically MONOLITHIC, so cannot be fully called Ibo. I have been reading about the fascinating history of the various folks that make up the Delta North area since the 1980s and I have friends from there.
Anioma is historically made up of communities or towns that were founded within the last 600 years or a little more by migrants who came from several ethnicities such as Bini-Edo, Esan-Edo, Yoruba, Igala, Nri, etc. Some communities also have mixed settlements with different quarters housing migrants in specific towns. Igala-associated communities such as Ebu (Agatha Amata is paternally from there), Asaba, Illah, etc, exist.
The folks of Agbor have direct links with the Bini people and just a few years ago, the Dein of Agbor made a royal proclamation telling his subjects NOT to give Ibo names to their children because the Agbor or Ika folks have their own language. That story was posted here on NL.
Idumuje Unor in Aniocha North LGA was founded by Esan people or migrants with Idumuje being of Esan origin. Idumuje Ugboko folks also came from Idumuje Unor.
Several communities in Ikaland and Aniocha North LGA have founders and migrants from Bini, Esan, Yorubaland, etc. The Olukumis of Ugbodu, Eko Efun (Ukwu Nzu), have Yoruba forebears and founders. The traditional rulers of these Olukumis towns (in Aniocha North LGA where Onicha Ugbo, Onicha Olona, and Onicha Uku are also located with Issele-Uku serving as the LGA HQ) have been interviewed several times in the media and they clearly identified themselves as having Yoruba ancestries due to the fact that they belonged to Yoruba trading communities who left the Benin area due to upheavals their centuries ago and moved into the Esan area where they stayed for some years before migrating further to establish their new communities on virgin lands centuries back in what is now in Aniocha North LGA, an area close to the Delta State and Edo State borderlands.
The folks in each town or clan in Delta North of Delta State in Aniocha, Ndokwa, Ika, Oshimili know full well their ancestries and historical links to these core migrant ethnicities that make up Anioma.
