EducationRe: Online University BSc. Degrees In Nigeria by Koolking(m): 5:40pm On Feb 24, 2012
Distance Learning Platform offered by Unilag and some other Universities will avail you the opportunity of obtaining your B.Sc. You need not be visiting the campus, but expected to be present in the school to write exams. You need to squeeze your time to do just that. I am faced with the same hurdle of managing official business and personal (school) business. Who I am currently working for is a BIG impediment to achieving my educational goals. Beat your heart and do. You can sis.

blackchief:
Increase in salary, increase in staff strength, more vehicle and communication equipment etc. THE SAME OLD STORIES.

Problems of the Nigeria police as i see them;

1.Employing of illiterate (poor communicating skill= poor understanding= poor implementation of directives)
2. indiscipline (the police is made up of  persons that have questionable character and have very little respect for the rule of law)
3. No clear guideline (when arresting or releasing a person)
4. Poor handing of equipment and guns (have a close look at the vehicles allocated to the police and compare them with Army, custom civil defence etc)
5. poor welfare (not salary increase)

likely solution (just a few)
1. Training to be handled by expatriates (General training on handing of guns and rule of engagement, character, dressing, presentation etc)
2. weeding out (those that fail to meet up with the standard required of the job be move to other less demanding job such as prison service, fire service or show the way out)
Well said. No amount will change the mentality of the men of the force. The problem lies with the leadership of NPF. YOU CANNOT FIND AN ORDERLY SYSTEM WITHOUT AN ORDERLY LEADER
Christianity EtcRe: Lagos Shuts Down Lord’s Chosen, 6 Other Churches by Koolking(m): 4:18pm On Feb 21, 2012
Good move. Some Mosques and some Churches cause depression to people at night and during the wee hours of morning, when you are expected to be nurtured by nature's 2nd calling which is sleep, after a day's hard toil in Lagos.

I wonder what they do every blessed day at night and morning. I wish this move could be massively sustained

But he is the perfect example of the growing rates of Nigerian youths who call themselves musicians but lack sense or talent except a good studio and atuotune.

They can't sing or do anything, yes, politicians pay them millions of naira to entertain. So whose fault
? The Nigerian culture currently promotes mediocrity.
Sis, I deeply appreciate your insight. I used to think I was solo on this thought. Expedient to say the least. 98% of them are self/media-acclaimed musicians. Thank God I am not a fan to insipid musics.

PoliticsRe: Do You Have Personal Stories Of How The Nigerian Police Ever Helped You Out? by Koolking(m): 7:00pm On Feb 20, 2012
There is no SANE member of NPF. I can bet my life for that.

I got robbed @ Gun point while returning from work by 4 Mopol members of the force. When  I first sighted them at the bus stop with the mopol inscription on their dark T shirts with guns my confident to cross the bus stop built up. When they called my attention, I felt it would be the usual "who are you and let's see your ID card". I was flabbergasted when I was forced to raise my hands up with a double-barren gun pointed unmistakably at me. That was my first experience of a gun pointed at my forehead. My fear was on rampage within me. They took everything from me and the other guy that was caught in the web (it was at Palmgrove Bus stop in Lagos around 11.40pm) was drained of everything including his salary and a brand new laptop and a new mobile phone.
The sight of that man (in his late 30s) wailing like a baby after those policemen had jumped into their awaiting car and zoomed off was disheartening.  I had to trek kilometers to my aunt's place to pass the night. It was a bitter experience. Passers-by hardly noticed what was going on. They felt it was the usual police harassment. That was what gave me the confident to approach them when they barked orders at me. Who knows how many people they robbed that night.

There's also this team of 4-6 men that patrol Ikeja on a navy blue danfo bus. Those guys are terrorists and criminals. They make money more than Fuel subsidy cabals.

Terrible experiences with the NPF are not isolated. Those guys are no good
PoliticsRe: Do You Have Personal Stories Of How The Nigerian Police Ever Helped You Out? by Koolking(m): 2:48pm On Feb 20, 2012
Nope!

Folks, I find it hard to believe these stories of benevolence from NPF. I wonder if all these are made up in order to disabuse people's mind about them, or the stories are coming from NPF members who are on NL.

I have never been at the mercy of these glorified touts. In fact, if they ask for the roles and responsibilities of the NPF in Exams, I will be only person with a credit pass.

Typical rants of an apologist. Thank God gej is not my president. Popular decision would not have put him there, he had no antecedence, no track record of being near there. Pdp and cabal factors got him almost there. He thrust himself into that position. I dont blame the op for being his apologist, if others are comfortable as the makes the op to be,, we'll all speak his language. The level of insults rained on him shows there is no public confidence on him. Let's call a blackman a blackman. No sentiments. The same sentiment put us where we are today

lol nigerians literally scale the globe looking for reasons to feel inferior.
now we hate our NAME and are praising a country named after us. lol.
it's unfortunate.

Nigeria means Niger Area. Niger is a river, the world means black, which, believe it or not, is not a deragatory word.
a couple of african countries carry the 'area' name

Liberia (liberated area)
algeria (Algers area)
jmoore:
This thread is created out of ignorance. Niger is about the people , meaning people with dark skin. Niger area (Nigeria) means the area with dark skinned people.

"University student of Imo state, each will get 100,000 per school year, out of which 70,000 will be the bursary for the school fee and 30,000 as loan/grant from the state.

After graduation and the graduate start working, only once he/she start working, then the graduate can pay the 30,000 grant to Imo state coffers, if he can only remember what help he received".

All twisted for marketers to make their money, not even the artist. Come to think of it; only a hand few of the Nigerian artists are creative others are media-acclaimed (hyped). Thank God I am not a fan to Nigerian musicians. Their works are boring, insipid and inspiring. They stop being tacky and crown their talent with creativity. . .

One down, 149 999 999 to go. Sad, sad country.

That policeman should be sued. He should be sued for making us look so bad. He should be sued for insulting our pride as a nation in the international community.
Absolute dementia is what comes to mind when you see the video of a man walk up to a live, undefused explosive with nothing but his "hero that will save the day" swagger.

I can imagine the following conversation ensuing between him and one of his colleagues.

Demented Policeman: Na bomb? wetin una dey wait for since na? Corporal give me that metal detector make I go disconnect am.
Corporal: Oya take. Na so you go go? You no go wear the bomb jacket?

Dude, he is part of the 'bomb disposal unit'
Dude, I doubt. This act smacks of unprofessionalism. I am not suppose to be sympathetic. This is a clear case of suicide not a victim of bomb blast. Even a common tout on the street would have taken precaution (using a long stick that provide distance away from the bag to stir the contents). I sensed the usual pride (typical of NPF members) while he was swaggering down the lane. He wanted to play the Superman
