PoliticsRe: Buhari Calls For 'TOTAL' Sharia In Nigeria by Lagosboy: 1:40pm On Jan 17, 2011
Jakumo:
I often wonder why those Bin-Laden bearded Muslims, who IMMIGRATE to the UK in swarms, feel so compelled to try and IMPOSE their own culture on a nation that is largely Christian, and whose women are NOT obliged to go about dressed in comical Batman costumes. All such immigrants who clamor for Islamic law in the UK, or in any other largely Christian nation in Europe and beyond, should be politely shown the door, so they can be deported back to their camel-herding wastelands where they can stone women and amputate petty thieves to their heart's content.

These fundamentalist fanatics flock in droves over to the UK to abuse the welfare, education and medical care system, over-burden the unemployment benefit programs, and live in free or subsidised housing, but then, to show their gratitude for all those freebies, they insult their hosts and try to forcibly convert entire neighborhoods into little Afghanistans or Pakistans. Such ungrateful parasites should be kicked the phuck out of the UK, to go back where they came from.
Buddie, I live in the UK and no one is calling for sharia to be implemented here , it was the head onf the anglican chirch himself that called for some aspects of sharia to be implemented after studying the shariah in its totalility and not from a pin hole mindset the folks here are doing.

Lastly, you have to show some decorum as you can attack Buhari but not trying to attack islam by saying "bearded muslims" is very low and plainly uncalled for. You could attack individuals but dont lump people together and paint them with one brush. The west invaded africa, invaded Iraq and they get iraqi refugees back to the UK and here you are asking them to F off.

Sing another song buddie or better still lets focus on the topic at hand

Your main problem is that there are no almajirs in the south and without votes from the south, no one can be president. The southern voters already know what they want, and sadly BUHARI or Ribadu is not it.
The equivalent of the Northern almajiris in the south and in particular the SW are the Agberos, the Road transport workers, the market traders. Buddie, these people are the one that makes the difference, they are the voters and not me and you among the elite that will never even register to vote.

These people in the SW dont give a hoot about religion and would vote whoever their leader asks them to vote for.

The only support base GEJ has is in the SS and might split the SE but the entire South is a far call. Forget the PDP convention of only 5000 delegates coerced by their governors. PDP only has 2 states in the SW. lets wake up to the reality!!

SAI BUHARI!!!

I asked a question in the post above yours, answer it or keep quiet. This eunuchs dance you do is boring. Who cares really what is in some article? Articles don't vote. Talk about something that VOTERS care about.

Look at it this way, of what use are 100,000,000 internet votes if none of them can vote on the day of election? Talk about something that matters to the NIGERIANS in Nigeria who will vote on that day.
The millions of almajiris in the north who dont have internet acess will vote Buhari. This debate is relevant for the elites and that is why we are having an intellectual debate. The article is very relevant!!!

I wish Mukina2´s name make the hall of fame. Except if mods/supermods are automatically desqualified. From 2005, 2006 when i used to read through NL i always remembered she made this section survive when there were very few muslims around. Even during the days of the Osisi and co she always did her best to defend the cause.

Nowadays she is no longer active in this section unfortunately.

Although this is a wild allegation, sometimes there is no smoke without fire. The poster is aggrieved that his preferred candidate was schemed out but he has raised valid points.

There was no primaries in Oyo stata and the selected candidate was based on wuru wuru to the answer. However i thought Lam was in favour of primaries and was absent from the congress.

Only God knows the truth.

We need to take this off front page. it is too bad at this age for us to be smearing the image of this man on hearsay. And I know the pro-jonathan guys sees this as the only falsehood they can use to kill this man's noble credentials. The more we continue to overflog this, the more other religions are showing how hatred for Islam lives in their hearts! these governors riks losing re-election
I hope and pray they all lose their seats and PDP is voted out. Buhari CPC should be voted for en mass in the north. GEJ supporters should wake up to the reality that except the machinery of the state is used in rigging and Jega is compromised there is no way GEJ will win 20% of Northern votes, absoulutely no way. The voters in the North would vote for any northerner on the ballot box especially as many dont like their governors in the first instance.

Buhari will win 80% of the votes in the core north , Benue , Taraba might vote GEJ.

I just pray and hope Ribadu and Buhari will not both be on the ballot paper come April. Otherwise Nigeria would have lost the last opportunity for many years to come to have a change. If GEJ wins he would rule for 8 years and probably rig his vice in for another 8 years by which time the same usless thieves would have ruled for 16 years. Even our unborn children would be at university then singing the same song of Nigeria is bad.

Lets wake up !!!

PoliticsRe: 2011: So Begins The Fall Of The ACN In The Southwest! by Lagosboy: 12:25am On Jan 16, 2011
jensinmi:
We have been duped, hoodwinked, taken for a ride. We were warned, but we refused to listen

Over the years, we sat still and believed their premise
-That the PDP were evil and that they were good.
-That the PDP was corrupt and they were pure.
-That the PDP did not believe in democracy, but that they (ACN) were the voice of the people.

But like it is said in Yorubaland, If lies have a 20 year headstart in the race, the truth will always reach and overtake it.

Our faith in the ACN in the South-West rose with the profile of one and only one man - Babatunde Raji Fashola.

We saw him as an example of good governance, and wrongly believed that everyone in ACN would turn out to be like him.

Alas, we were wrong.

So,  here we are full circle, and the  we glance to our backs and see the truth fast approaching.

Fashola is now going through fire. The owners of the party have decided to spare him since he cannot be touched without the people in Lagos revolting. But others haven't been so lucky.

We watched as Lagos ACN primaries turned into a step-down and appointee affair.
- First it was Senator Olorunnibe Mamora - Arguably one of the best Senators in Nigeria, who was told to step down so that a relatively unknown fellow could take his place. It is said that the devil you know is better than the angel you don't know; however, I ask, is the angel you know better than the devil you don't know??

- Next, Fashola's deputy governor is already on the cutting table, soon to be dropped.

- Third, we watched as Remi Tinubu was handed one Senatorial Seat ticket.

- Fourth, Sade Tinubu, was then handed a ticket to the House of Representatives

- Fifth, Her husband who is from Ikogosi-Ekiti was handed his own House of Representative Ticket in Ekiti.

And all this time, we wonder what happened to internal democracy?? What happened to party primaries?? What is the meaning of "Consensus Candidate"??

If a party in power chooses unpopular candidates, does that no indicate a willingness to rig at the general election??

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We then go to Oyo state, where Senator Ajimobi won the gubernatorial ticket without the primary taking place. All in the name of consensus candidate. The assembly and representative seats were handed out to chosen individuals.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Let us now move to my state. Ekiti State.

We clamored, fought and kicked over the governance of Segun Oni of the PDP, A man who came 3rd in the 2007 primary. A man who we know was rigged into power. We hoped that Kayode Fayemi of the ACN ( A man who also did not win his party primary) would be our saving grace.

He came into power a few months ago and has begun to show his true colors.

First on the list was the Ekiti Senatorial Tickets. Only one of the 3 belonged to ACN. That was the seat held by Senator Bode Ola - A man who fought a battle with Femi Kila of the PDP for more than 2 years at the election Tribunal to recover his mandate.

The party primary for the Ekiti North and South positions was supposedly conducted, and was followed by outcry from the other contestants.
On the same day, the Ekiti Central position primary was supposed  to be held, but was said to have been disrupted.
Two days later, the same fate befell the Assembly and Representative primaries. Gov Fayemi was accused of sending his own list of candidates for declaration.

As of today, which is the INEC deadline, the party is yet to conclude these primaries yet a list is supposedly on the way to INEC right now.

It is now said that the Ekiti Central Senatorial ticket has been handed over to Babafemi Ojudu by Gov. Fayemi, despite the fact that the incumbent has only held that seat for 18 months, and would very likely had won the primary had it been held.

This brings us to the questions

-What exactly do we do with the ACN??

-Are we the yoruba people supposed to trade in our shackles of the PDP and accept that of ACN, Tinubu, Fayemi, and Bisi Akande?? Or are we to begin searching elsewhere for our "saviors"??

In conclusion,

We, the people of Ekiti, are a difficult people, and we will not be bound by those that wish to enslave us for their own selfish purposes.

We have put our faith in man. And we have failed.

Psalm 146:3 Do not trust in princes, In mortal man, in whom there is no salvation
Iagree with the post 100% and i am predicting the fall of ACN in few years , 2015 they would be swept away like tsunami again and a repeat of 2003 would happen unless Tinubu is urgently checkmated. He finances the party we all now but financing does not mean the will of the people should be subjugated .

Oyo state primaries was a shamble and a delgate posted the report on NL this morning and explained how a list was sent in from Lagos without ward leaders knowing the candidates  being put foward to INEC.

Shame on ACN and they are just wolf in sheeps clothing.

Babafemi Ojudu would now have the guts to report rigging in his THE NEWS magazine after been illegally given the ticket without primaries,  Honestly i am begining to think evey person singing injustice in Nigeria is not doing so out of sinceity but personal losses

I am impressed and you have really earned my respect. And what makes a man a man is the abiliy to recognise the truth and accept it without his ego stoping him.

Buhari or Ribadu is the one to change Nigeria and Buhari would be the better choice at this point in time. WE need soeone radical to save our drowning country but it appears to me the greatest enemy of Nigeria is we the masses ourselves. We dont want help and we love corruption otherwise why would anyone support GEJ over Buhari or Ribadu.

GEJ's cash and carry convention, automatic tickets for rogue governors like Akala , pardon for Folarin etc is just the same old story of our politicia. GEJ's mentor is a convicted criminal inthe person of Alameisgha, his poltical father is OBJ, his confidant is Anenih. Nigerians let us wake up to the reality and drop all these ethnic and religous bigotry. According to Fela Kuti "Same old politicians wey rule Nigeria before , same old politican wey spoil Nigeria before" are the same people GEJ has as friends. Why i am with Buhari. General Mohammadu Buhari, @ 69, is still more honest than my best friend because: he was minister of petroleum & head of NNPC when we built our largest refineries, he was governor of North-Eastern States, he was Military Ruler of this country, and he was PTF Chairman during the Abacha years, yet he remain an average Nigerian with modest retirement income, cows and four houses (the records are there). Here is a man who jailed the corrupt politicians of the 2nd republic, get people disciplined for unruly behaviour, refused to accept IMF's offer of loan which finally crippled this country, fought drug lords to near-death, made mistakes with good intentions to clamp on the press - the press is also guilty of corruption anyway. in infrastructure, no other living Nigerian in governance can lay claim to his project management skills in delivering the refineries in the late 70's, and building, rehabilitating health centres, schools and constructing roads in PTF. And the amazing part is the refineries were built in three years, and PTF also existed for 4 years, yet so much was achieved! It was the period of PTF I knew Nigeria's money could work. with little percentage of our oil revenue, i saw my village's untarred road in deep black, shinning tar! I saw hospitals with enough drugs, beds, clothings, i always saw as i am seeing in Lagos. He had his flaws, but merely studying this man including different articles and criticisms of his personality and style of governance, i conclude that this man is not a muslim fanatic, not a corrupt man, but an uncompromising human being who stands for what he believes in. this is what is lacking with Jonathan, Atiku and all the other gladiators. We have been brainwashed with the 'vices' of Buhari. what makes buhari a religious fanatic? what makes him more of a coup plotter than jerry rawlings who overthrew governments twice but left cleaning up the mess in Ghana? is it Jonathan or atiku or PDP as whole that is as honest at this man? Let me state Jonathan's corrupt tendencies since coming to power - he offered Tunde Bakare 50000 dollars in aso rock, his wife's women for change innitiatives is a massive billion-naira war chest being used for political campaign, he bargained with mark and bankole to buy Nigeria's official residence in exchange for Lawmakers' bloc vote in PDP primaries, he has given all PDP governors (corrupt or not corrupt) automatic 2nd term ticket, he failed to arrest Uduaghan who was mentioned in Ibori's case file that has been used to jail his wife & aides, ensured he won the delta rerun, he has not found anyone corrupt since the case of ibori, billions of dollars was shared on December 31, 2010, 14 days to date it was to be shared, but early enough for PDP primaries! all these shows that he can tolerate corruption as long as it does not affect his ambition for power. Jonathan has had more scandal in less than a year than perform to our expectation! atiku is another case of corruption one does not need to overflog. all the allegations i hear people raise against buhari has been addressed by Buhari himself, unlike Babangida that has refused to say what happened to June 12. ours is to research very well on this man and form our opinion. Buhari has the best credential of all because he meets the basic requirement of what Nigeria really needs. someone who will be uncompromising in the fight against corruption. Nigeria can never develop or her people be straight in their dealings if corruption is not wiped out and corrupt people jailed. we need to wake up and realize that Jonathan is popular because of incumbency factor, as was abacha, babangida, obasanjo, yaradua. if we want to know who is popular for who he is not what he is, watch buhari walk the streets of the north and see the massive crowd of poor people that follow him. the poor masses of the north, including my maigaurd who has never seen buhari, inspires me that those who have integrity but do not have money can be voted into power. And you know why I support Buhari instead of Ribadu, they are both alike, but Ribadu will end up being a younger Buhari who in 1983 was a little too exuberant in driving out corruption. But the old and wise Buhari, like the Old wine, is now sweeter but bitter to corruption. Nigerians need to see beyond the gentle mien of goodluck jonathan and see a man who has shown he is desperate to hold on to power. Jonathan denouncing the same zoning arrangement that made him vice president was simply dishonest. admitting it and then asking for concession should have been the honest way, and if the party refuses then he could have still pushed ahead like he is doing now, but all Nigerians would have understood that it is his party that is stubborn. The rest of the country must emulate the talakawas of the North, who call Buhari 'THE MAN OF TRUTH', not the man of wealth because he practices what he preaches - he doesn't jump queue in Filling stations! Nigerians, we need to think deep and take that leap of faith to vote for this man, do not think that the vote will not count, do not believe the people who have tagged him a muslim fanatic - Nigeria is to complex for a sharia state. we must stand up for a basic requirement for this office of the president - INCORRUPTIBILTY AT ALL COSTS! This is what can take Nigeria far. No matter the idea, no matter big our plans are, if there are leakages in our treasury, nothing can work. I know in our minds we think of the 66 suit cases, the 2.8 billion naira missing in NNPC, the Fela inprisonment, the Nduka Irabor inprisonment. But I admire one thing, Buhari defends his actions! I will not go into this. search for his interviews and make your judgement . Idiagbon was the face of that regime and people say he did the job, but we forget that power does not tolerate a vice outshining his master. Idiagbon performed because Buhari saw him capable and allowed him to be the face of the government. In summary, go north and south, east or west, this man does not deny his deeds, good or bad, and that is integrity! He is my last card for Nigeria, and I will play it with my thumb in April. I dont want a younger generation of mine because we are not tested, and the few - Rufai, Fanikayode, soludo, fayose, oni, saminu turaki, bankole, etteh - have all shown that they can not be trusted. and do not think that a Tayo Aderinokun, and the shinning lights in private sector can do better in government, because it takes the highest level of TESTED INTEGRITY to function in Nigeria's corridors of power which is filled with temptations that can make you sin and get away with it!
Obejectity is an expensive trait and you are blessed with one.
I love your post

changeboy:
i will like to inform all nairalander that i was one of the delegate at the Oyo State ACN party congress yesterday at olubadan stadium in Ibadan. so i want to give everyone first hand details of what happen there yesterday.

The delegates that participated at the congress were the 33 local govt party chairmen, 33 local govt party secretaries and 351 party ward chairmen, which am one of them.

The congress started peacefully, until the Oyo State party secretary Mr. Wasiu Olatunbosun was summoned to the podium to read out a list of people send down from Lagos to be announce as the party flagbearers/candidates for the 2011 general election.

We, at the congress had been informed that the delegation from Lagos are coming with a list and that we should just affirmed what ever list they are bringing, that was when everybody on the field start asking each other that what do the leaders of the party think that we are . . . ZOMBIES that they will just give instructions without consultations with all the party leaders and members.

As soon as the secretary start to read the list, we started hearing strange names that are not known to party members in their wards or local govt. That was when ALL DELEGATES started to shout in disapproval of all the people on the list.

No voting took place at the venue. Not even voice voting. All these took place in the presence of INEC officials from Abuja, who after more than 2hrs when no voting took place, left the venue of the congress.

It was after the INEC officials left that the National as sisant treasurer raise up Senator Ajimobi's hand.

For more account of what happen at the venue nairaladers can go and check today Nigeria Tribune, Vanguard, Thisday Newspaper. Channel TV, Silverbird TV and other stations covered the congress.

One more important correction Ajimobi's delegates were in the minority at the congress. most of the delegates are in support of Chief Femi Lanlehin, Chief Isamial Adewusi and Chief Soji Akanbi due to their contribution to the party by uniting all party members. That is why Senator Ajimobi did not want to go Thur primaries, because he Jones very well that he would loose woefully
Thanks very much for this update and i wish you Gods blesssing.

Tinubu would ruin ACN himself and what is democratic about candidtaes not knwn in teir wards nor their local govt , anyway what is importantt is that Tinbu knows him. ACN is same as PDP and few individuals within ACNmight be great performers but that is just de to ther individual ability. ACN is recycled old AD of the Adesanyas and itwas thi impootion that swept AD away and is seeping PDP away and that will also sweep ACN awa. Mark my words. The people are not fool and an example of what happened in Tuisia yeterday shows no matter the how long the people are supressed one day they will fight back and it would be the lst fight of the opresor.

What is progessive about consesus and imposition of candidates. Ajimobi we all know is popular but wh not then go through primaries and test his popularity .I give ACN another 4 years they would melt into another party as thiskind of imposition can never last in the SW.

In life we just have to strike a balance in everything, movies itself is not haraam if the contents dont have haraam thigs in it.

TV also has good in it and it depends on what it is used for, in the UK we have several islamic stations that benefit the muslims in a tremendous manner. There are several educational materials for kids and parents have control over what their kids can watch except the lazy parents that just chuck their kids in front of any program on TV.

Islam recognises the need for the human soul and body to relax and enjoy play and amusments albeit in a halaal manner.

Buhari and Ribadu i like and will support but i have a feeling Buhari would have the guts to deliver on quicker scale compared to Ribadu. Buhari could rule for 1 term and position Ribadu to succeed him and not forgeting Utomi.

This poll would have been conducted among elites in the north and is not a true reflection in my opinion. Buhari is more popular with the masses of the north compared to Buhari. By masses i mean those without telephones to recieve calls from the poll company, those who cannot even speak or understand english language, these are people who would vote , these are people who would risk their lives to protect their votes.

The biggest mistake for the opposition would be not to forge an alliance and i can see the selfish interest of Tinubu might make an alliance impossible. Although i wish and hope there is an alliance.

@ Lagosboy

Ekiti Central Senatorial seat is still not concluded.

Ekiti North and South Senatorial Candidates have been rigged-in and imposed.

House of Rep and State Assembly seats are still being postponed, fought about, disrupted, and every other thing in between.

What right does Gov. Fayemi have to threaten Local Governments saying that, If they do not elect his candidates, they will see no development in their region over his period as Governor??
Oh Gosh Oh gosh, I remember Fela song that "same old politian wey rule Nigeria before, sma old politician wey spoil Nigeria before"

It seems we are just recycling bad eggs everytime but as a student of Tinubu politics i dont expect anything less from him. Imposition is what destroyed PDP and it is what will destroy AC as well. I pity Ekiti indegines at this point as they showed Fayemi loads of goodwill in his time of struggle and need. He would make Fayoshe look like a saint if he does not retrace his steps.

@Hymen

Were you satisfied by the answers to the contradiction thingy on the other thread as i see the brothers have done a good job trying to explain it . Still expecting the shia question though  wink

The quran as we believe and I explained to Ify in some of the earlier pages of the thread has no contradiction in it and Allah himself said it in the quran "Had this book been from any other than Allah you would find in it many contradictions" . To err is human and perfection is divine, most of the "contradiction" always highlighted by non muslims have to do with either numbers or days.

However Allah told us in the quran already that , our days are not the same as the number of days in the heavens and 1000 years for us could be like 1 year above the heavens.

The word thumo in arabic could mean then, therafter or silmutaneously depending on the context. In the verses referring to creationand number of days the word used was thumo and means silmutaneously. Understanding that word clears any ambuigity of contradiction in terms of days but unfortunately Yusuf Ali translated a few verses in a anot too good manner which created room for misintepretation. This is not his fault in the least but the richness of arabic language cannot be matched by the english language.

I hope to explain more when i am less busy insha Allah

@blacksta: Thank you sir

PDP and ACN are the worst culprits in today's Nigeria.

The things that have gone on in Ekiti this week are mind boggling.

Imagine that ingrate called Governor Kayode Fayemi. Despite the goodwill Ekiti people showed him to get him to his current position, he turned around and insisted on subverting the will of the people in determining their representatives in the National Assembly and State Assembly.

I think he wants to die young. He should know the consequences of his action will be like a Tsunami that his levees cannot withstand.

FOOL!!!
Oh has the primaries been conlcluded now ? I thought it was cancelled or something. Fayemi is just learning from his master Ojuyobo

@Op,

Moslems domination of Lagos State/Yoruba politics is a recent phenomenon. The earlier politicians from the SW were xtians like Awolowo, Akintola, TOS Benson, Akinjide, Bola Ige Abraham Adesanya etc. Infact in the first republic I think every Yoruba politician was a xtian probably because the christians were more educated and embraced western education quicker.

Another false statement saying all Lagos State Governors have been Moslems, Sir Michael Otedola ruled Lagos.

In the NRC elections Prof Femi Agbalajobi (xtian) and Yomi Edu(Xtian) were deadlocked in the primaries before Michael Otedola(Xtian) picked the ticket and defeated Dapo Sarumi of the SDP another xtian in the elections.

In the SW, I notice that xtians tend to gravitate away from politics towards career professions. Its the general belief that Politics is dirty and most monogamous xtian families wont even allow their children to vote never mind contest
Bros get your facts right please, in as much as i dont like this thread and believe it makes no sense. It was Femi Agbalajobi vs Sarumi in the SDP fiasco of 91. Yomi Edu who is a muslim only emerged after the 2 were disqualified and contested against Michael Otedola a chritian.

Lagos indegines are mainly muslims and you need to go to isale eko where i am from to understand what we mean. Almost every southwest family have a mix in terms of religion and we have to treat ourselves with mutual respect. ´The thread is divisive and governance does nopt depend on the religion of the politician as most politicians in Nigeria are thieves anyway.

The fact is the sham of the primaries was commited in the states. By the time the delegates got to Abuja they have been panel-beating into a shape like a mother scolding an unruly child. Is that democracy, I suppose so, only in Africa uhmmmm. huh
Spot on Buddie, Nigeriians should not be fooled. These delagets we panelbeated by their various governors to vote in a certain way after they have collected money. I remeber during the primaries of 2003 in a western states, an insider told me of how the governor made delegates swear an oath in a coffin before handing them substantial bribe money.

Atiku and GEJ both bribed but the governors support is what swayed the delegates. The delegates were policed about from the hotels to whop they speak to etc. GEJ has won and congratulations to him!

This however , does not take away the fact that we should kick out PDP from Nigeria.
