texazzpete:WAs he wrong for stating the obvious fact that the level of insecurity under GEJ is at an unprecedented level in recent times. Nigeria as a country has never experienced terrorist bombings, terrorist bombiongs started in GEJ´s home state of Bayelsa last year, MEND attacked Abuja GEJ absolved MEND and tried to link IBB, kidnappings every here and there . A president that says publicly that the nation should pray for terrorists to confess their action is not just a fool but a celeberated fool of unrivalled standing. Everyday Dumb GEJ and his equally dumb wife continue to embarrass our beloved country of many intellectuals. Inviting the FBI to Nigeria is his biggest mistake as wikileaks have already shown the US level of spying in Nigeria, who except a dumb person would now invite the US 24 hrs after a bombing without first gathering your own evidence as a country. The FBI and CIA are not supermen and they still have bin laden at large. GEJ is about to mortgage Nigeria security to the US who are only after their own interest. |
hymen:Dont worry you dont need to bet on it , it might happen in the near future insha Allah Wonderful to know she already dances to the beat of her lord , it would be wonderful if she steps up the dance as the beat vibration has increased frequency, in order to dance correctly to the beat she should accept His last prophet PBUH . What a wonderful dance that would be ! ![]() |
GEJ has proven to be unfit for the presidency. A president that absolved MEND 24 hrs after MEND claims responsibility for the first bombings is an unfit president. If some peopel are trying to link it with Atiku without any arrests being made is another own goal for GEJ. I really think those adviser of GEJ dont like him are deliberately making a mockery of his intelligence. |
In as much as i support the increase in wages od workers and proper welfare of workers, I believe the rate at which govt is spending on recurrent expenditure, there is no hope for a better Nigeria in terms of the dillapidated infrastrucure, power etc. GEJ sharing $1 billion on new years eve sums it all up. |
President Goodluck Jonathan has approved N4,705,368,635 as Christmas bonus to federal workers, THE PUNCH has learnt. But the bonanza, which was usually paid to workers in a few ministries and agencies in December along with their salaries until 2009 when all MDAs were included, could not be paid before the end of 2010. The President’s approval was given on December 22, 2010, via a letter with reference no: Pres/87/MF/182 from the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Administration, Mr. Matt Aikhiombare, and addressed to the finance minister. His approval followed a memo by the Minister of Finance, Mr. Olusegun Aganga, also dated December 22, 2010 to the President, reminding him of the annual payment of Special Overtime and End of Year bonus to all staff of the ministry, Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation and others. The payment, he added, was meant to curb fraudulent practices in the management of government finances. Aganga had noted that the payment started with the Nigerian Customs Service and the Federal Inland Revenue Service in 1994, as a special incentive to boost revenue collection and reduce loss of revenue due to fraud and other sharp practices. He explained, “At the time, targets were set and staff of the two agencies were to get four per cent of monies realised beyond the set targets. “The incentive was expanded to include staff of the ministry, Budget Office of the Federation and the Office of the Accountant-General, being supervisors of these revenue-generating agencies. This tradition has been in practice ever since.” He added that in 2005, government approved that four per cent and seven per cent of the revenue generated by FIRS and NCS respectively should be retained by the two agencies. However, the Federal Ministry of Finance, Budget Office and the OAGF were left out, in spite of their significant contributions to revenue generation and expenditure management. Aganga said, “Following this development, the ministry annually applies for presidential approval for the payment of the special incentives to its staff. “However, in 2009, the concept was modified and extended to include some ministries and agencies. To this end, MDAs have made formal requests for the payment of the incentives. “The total amount as compiled is as detailed hereunder: FMF, OAGF & BOF N1, 111, 398, 136 (74 per cent of request); Office of the SGF N207, 544, 256 (50 per cent of request); Office of the HOSF N386, 426, 243 (50 per cent of request); State House, N42,570, 291 ( 100 per cent of request); and other MDAs, N2,957,429, 709, totalling N4,705, 368,635.” Investigations, however, showed that the non-payment of the bonanza to workers before the end of last year had raised concerns among workers as some ministries and agencies gave bags of rice and groundnut oil to their staff instead of the expected cash. The ministries of Health and Finance; Joint Admission and Matriculation Board; Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation; Universal Basic Education Commission; and Central Bank of Nigeria gave rice to their staff. A member of staff in one of the ministries told our correspondent that workers on grade levels 1-14 got rice and oil. He expressed worry that these items might have been given them in lieu of the cash bonus. He said, “Instead, they gave a bag of rice and jar of groundnut oil to the workers in place of the money.” Further, he alleged that staff of the Federal Ministry of Health collected cash as christmas bonus when Prof. Adenike Grange was the minister, but such payment ended with her exit. “Our suspicion is that government has been releasing this money without it reaching us,” he added. However, Aganga’s memo to the President stated that “the said amount would be sourced from servicewide vote.” Apart from this incentive-driven bonanza, workers are still battling for the payment of the new minimum wage. The Federal Government last week claimed that it had forwarded a minimum wage bill to the National Assembly to provide a legal framework for the wage hike. However, the Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Rules and Business, Mr. Ita Enang, had told THE PUNCH that the House did not receive the bill before December 14, 2010 when it went on a Christmas break. http://www.punchng.com/Articl.aspx?theartic=Art20110104354912 |
theopops:The sanctitiy of human blood in islam is universal and the unjust killing of anyone be it muslim or non muslim is a terrible sin in islam, the punishment for murder in islam is capital punishment to butress my point. I am sorry an pls forgive me but your friends question to her suitor is a bit silly and parochial as this could happen in many other situation and has nothing peculiar to do with islam. The killing of a wife on the order of a radical depends on the courage, love and balls of the husband and not dependent on him being a muslim or not. There is no basis for a radical to kill an innocent soul in islam and there is no islamic justification for a radical muslim to invade another persons house and orders him to kill his wife. This has nothing to do with islam and the question should be in the context of ethnic clashes which happens everywhere. During the Ife and modakeke crises of the mid 90´s this happened between christians, during the urhobo vs itshekiri crises of the late 90s this happened between christians. Sensless killings and ethnic riots happen everywhere in the world, narrowing it down to islam is a bit myopic. If the suitor does not have balls and courage then he would kill his wife in order to be alive and if he his courageious and loves his wife he would defend her and fight the agressor, which is actually what islam preaches and a man that dies in the process of fighting an invader into his home dies a martyr. To conclude, islam recommends the husband to repel the radical and fight him in order to protect his family and belongings. And God knows best |
ifyalways:The problem with Nigeria is that most of the "religious" riots have roots in ethnic problems and economic problems. Politicians prey on this problems and a few misguided fellows turn it into killings and once the 2 setcs are from 2 different religons it is a religious problem. Many experts have traced the problems in plateau to mining that has left little resources for the briom and hausa people to fight over. Birom are christians and hausa people happen to be muslim. However this sect called boko haram are religious idiots if they really ascribe that name to themselves. |
@Abuzola Brother please let us stop this conversation as you can see i have stopped contributing to the thread. Believe me bro nothing good will come out of this conversation except bickwering, hatred and more confusion. Lagosshia is shia and he his happy with it so please leave him to his beiliefs. Uplawal is unfortunately confused please let her be, with time she will learn more about the deen inshallah. You can only educate someone willing to listen, otherwise it is wasted effort and energy. We are making a fool of ourselves and mockery of our religion with our confusing postings and bickering. |
Beaf:Even when OBJ fought Atiku he did not use this nonsense strategy of accusing him of being sacked. This is the 3rd time Atiku is contesting for presidency and this is the first time this sack news is comming out, please give me a break as we are not all fools. For all i remember GEJ was a custom officer as well or he worked with the customs at the airport. What was his achievement? |
I will not vote for PDP but I have to acknowledge that i have some soft spur for this man called Atiku. He has got the balls, he has got the courage, he his a people person and he his a real leader that carries people along. Atiku has true associates dating back and cutting across all geo political zones. Like it has been stated above he achieved a lot as a VP and partly pulled together the economic team that achieved a lot under ÖBJ. Very few people would do what Atiku did when he had PDP under his pillow and was beckoned upon to run against OBJ in 2003 and he refused so as not to be seen as the north gave power to the south for 4 years and now wants it back. Orji Kalu till today always reminds us he warned Atiku about OBJ but Atiku did not listen. Atiku is running an issue based campaign and is the only one directly speaking to PDP delegates, he his an experienced politician and a dogged fighter. Comparing GEJ to Atiku in terms of courage, charisma , governance ability or administrative experience is like comoparing the living to the dead. GEJ is as dumb as Humty Dumty and horribly gullible. He has nothing to offer Nigerians except bombings and insecurity even in his home state of Bayelsa there has been bombings at least 3 times last year alone. Another 4 years of GEJ means Nigeria might end up like little Moghadishu, God forbid! |
9ijaMan:We are on the same page. I cannot understand how any intelligent person would continue to support a celeberated failure called GEJ or Goodthief if not for tribal sentiment or selfish personal interest. This guy is not only clueless but outright dumb in its full four letters. A president that says the nation should pray so that terrorist would confess their actions is not just a fool but a celebrated fool. |
9ijaMan:That is interesting, I am happy they have realised GEJ is as Dunce as it comes. |
This is a wonderful write up although slightly biased but it goves us the other side of the coin. I have always been sceptical when the whole international community agrees on something, backed up with the international press relating with to an african or third world country. There are always 2 sides to a story and we have never really understood Gbagbos story. The only thing i find amazing is after 10 years of Gbagbo govt how was he able to contest elections again, except if the terms of governance is limitless in the country. The interesting thing is how the constitutional court arrived at the 52 or 54% awarded to Gbagbo himself. I do not like foreign interferance in country elections and I was disgusted when Bush invited Yaradua to the whitehouse after the worst election in the whole of Africa. |
Tippy Top:Agreed and very true we need true federalism but what we dont need is another 4 years of GEJ. |
ifyalways:You are right he nourishes your body and soul , and also He uses a lesser Razaq to nourish your heart. ![]() There are wonderful and beautiful names of Allah among which are the famous 99 names of Allah. Beyond that there are other numerous names we can always call upon and praise. I would inshallah write some of the numrous names as we get along on the thread "Call unto Allah or Arahman , to him belongs the most beautiful names . . . ." |
Ijaw youths should go hug a transformer for all I care, if this same youths cannot prevent Odili from stealing billions from Rivers,Ibori from mortgaging their futire, Uduaghan from thieving their common wealth, Alams from looting their treasury they should bury their head in shame. The greatest enemy of the ND people are their own governors and leaders. What has Timi Alaibe done with the billions of the NDDC, what has the 12% revenue formula done to the ND states except expansion of their governors pockets. Charity begins at home and the youths should go fight the thieves amongst them before screaming cat and dog. GEG is as dumb as Humty Dumty and I repeat again that a president thats says publicly for us to pray for terrorists to confess their actions is not just a fool but a celeberated fool spiced up with idiocy. If we must have a ND leader let us have Utomi( i am not sure if Edo is considered ND though), let us have a brilliant, intelligent leader with a commanding swagger not a leader that his aides push around like a dummy with a big tummy ![]() |
jamace:Brother I dont like Atiku but let us tell truth, Atiku exhibited good leadership under OBJ, he organised all the governors and organised PDP. It is old news he was instrumental into El rufai and other into the govt. Even the leaked GEJ campaign strategy acknowledged his leadership prowess and organisational power. A president of a multi complex country like Nigeria should not be learning on the job. The result of learning is20 killed by terrorist MEND in Abuja, 80 killed in Jos by terrorists, 30 killed in Abuja by terrorist, 2 killed in Bayelsa by terrorist, kidnappings everyday, a clueless budget and more embarrassing a president that admits he his not capable and has no administrative experience. I would not vote PDP but rather Buhari,Ribadu or Utomi but within the PDP Atiku is far better than GEJ. A president that says publicly Nigeria should pray so that terrorist would confess is not just a fool but a celeberated fool with a spice of idiocy. |
Honestly and with all sincerity, Atiku has been the only aspirant discussing real issues in this campaign, I am not a PDP fan but Atiku has focused his campaign on issues. He has talked on economy , security, infrastructure, transportation, agriculuture. His debate on the economy and budget on this thread would have every layman understanding the fallacies of GEJ. Except you are a bigot you should realise that this kind of budget if implemented for 4 years of GEj administration nothing tangible can come out of it. People scream no power, no roads, no good transport, no rail no security but we should just look at this budget and understand that in the next 4 years it would be the same old song. For how long do we continue to vote based on tribe allegiance and stereotypes. People screaming Atiku is corrupt are not wrong but he his just as corrupt as GEJ himself. On corruption level they are at par so we should leave corruption aside and discuss the issue they both analyse. GEJ IMO is as dull as a Humty Dumty, he his naive, he his clueless, no swagger at all, he has no plan for Nigeria, four more years of GEJ would be a disaster for this country. His first budget is would have an educated market woman scream if it is explained to her. People saying Atiku did not write the piece himself should understand that even Obama did not write his economic policy himself, the role of an administrator or leader is the ability to organise people and administer them in order to efficiently use them to get things done. A president would not be the one to write his budget but he would be the one to set the agenda and people to formulate policies according to his agenda. Lets forget about personality and focus on issues. Read the leaked strategy plan of GEJ for rigging and you would understand that there is no difference btw GEJ and OBJ. GEJ has bombimg in his home state every now and then, he has no solution to it, his kinsmen bombed Abuja and no conviction has even been made, security is as its worst, please another 4 years of GEJ is doom for this country. |
semid4lyfe:Thanks to you bro |
illusion2:Thanks buddie Apologies for mispelling your name ![]() |
ifyalways:Thanks and Ameen. Go for it IFY it would be wonderful to have you replace me inshallah lols, But you have to give some bribe so we could rig it lols muhsin:Thanks brother you are wonderful. |
illusion2:Never say Never buddie I have not given up on your case. |
uplawal:Sister abeg take am easy, you cannot be acting like this with every single person here. It is true we have a new year in islam but the reality of todays is we follow 2 calenders. The guy wished us a happy new year , the least you could say is to thank him and advice him that we also have another new year in islam. |
hymen:https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-559875.32.html Its here ![]() ifyalways:Thanks but i feel really terrible today as i slept yesterday on the bad news on the Abuja bombings. I am hoping no has done this in the name of islam that is my hope. Although, no one has claimed responsibility, loads of people have blamed it on the same people that bombed jos. Till there is a clain of responsibility, i will keep mute for now. ![]() |
hymen:Finish it . . . . . wa sahalan I wrote you a message on the NL section of this sections poster of the year go read it ![]() ifyalways:Jumah mubarak in advance. inshallah we shall not miss it. |
Salaams to all my folks and Jazakumullah khairan for the award. I feel extremley humbled especially when i know it is only couple of threads i contribute to. I do appreciate the recognition and i pray to Allah to shower his blessings on us all. Without you all, this section would be dead and I want us to contribute more this comming year inshallah. Enlightenment should be our focus and I suggest we focus less on bickerings and non beneficial debates. Alihamdulilah this year, there was a sharp reduction in the activities of the trols in the section and I pray 2011 would witness a tremendous increase in knowledge and our understanding of the faith. I must commend Bro Chakula who IMO deserves the award as he many times single handedly kept many threads alive when some of us were in and out of NL for various reasons. I cannot finish this piece without congratulating our new muslimah IFYALWAYS on her rebirth and submission to her Lords call. Lets us all keep her and her husband in our prayers for more blessings on them. I sincerely dedicate this award to IFYALWAYS I also use this opportunity to call Hymen (lets hope she reads this) to have a re think and dance to the beat of the call of her Lord. She has been active on this section and has been a good contributor IMO to this section, she was one of the active players this year on the section. I pray for guidance for her and her wish her the best of blessings. To all, from bro Azharudeen who is from a completely different race (indian) but united with us in Tawheed, i acknowledge the valuable contributuions of Muhsin, Sweetnecta, Sisters Zayhal, dominique, xoxo g, alimat, isale gan , aunty Fayzik. Nopqueter, Lagosshia, fizzy, Zubeyr, I, Babs and how can i forget my buddie Abuzola. To our non muslim compatriots like Illusion2 , Jarzinho we look foward to a wonderful year ahead insha Allah. To the man who makes the section tick behind the screen Jarus and the one and only Super mod MUKINA2 thanks for all the good work. To all that i forgot to mention their names please forgive me for the oversight, I wish and pray for abundant blessings to you all. |

LagosShia: LagosShia:Now do you understand what i mean by the futility of this discussion. You said there can be no discord when you know that no sunni would bare to hear you curse a wife of the prophet PBUH. Likewise a shia would not be able to bare the tag of a kafir for calling a muslim a kafir. Brother lets save oursleves some headache and rest this issues. The truth is relative and what is truth to you is falsehood to some people. That is why there is a day call yawm al fasl when all decisions would be brought opened. If you do not see the wisdom in uniting upon what we agree upon and leave our differences then you must be more knowledgable than Hassan Nasrallah ( a sheikh whom i admire so much) who had shias and sunni defending against the agressors side by side. You must also be more radical than Ahmadinejad (another role model for me especially in terms of spirituality and ascetism) who reaches out to sunnis across divides. Let us use some maturity and drop all these emotional outburst that leads no where. These issues are nothing new and have being discussed for 1400 odd years with no solution. Our discussion here will not arrive to any truth but discord. I have shia friends and if we dwell in the past we can never move foward. |
All these is really freaking me up honestly. Of what value is it for me or anyone to debate who was the favorite wife of the prophet PBUH. Would that earn us jannah or make us great as one ummah. The prophet was never married to Khadija RA and Aisha RA at the same time so what is all this fuss about for goodness sake. Is there nothing productive to talk about!! Best time to sign out of these shia-sunni threads |
It is common knowledge that NIDO in many western countries only exists to serve their own personal interest because they have been compromised by the FG. |
uplawal:Sister this will be last response to you inshallah. Show some humility and restraint that is the only way you could learn in islam. The reason islamic studies is called "kewu" in yoruba is because it means "ku ewu" the knowledge is surrounded by thorns and one has to be patient in selecting otherwise you would pick thorns along the way. Accusing someone of lying is one of the peak of direspect and in islam once you are caught of lying once then your witness can never stand in the courts again. I want to believe we are both muslims and accusing another muslim of lying when it is not the case is a serious issue. The books you highlighted and mentioned the ahl baiyt is not mentioned in there only summarises my point to you. You have a lot to learn in islam and th eonly way to learn is to be humble and not comming across as you appea to. Riyad u saliheen is a collection of some hadiths by Imam Nawawi Rahimulllah with the aim of reforming a muslim. It is not a history book. Fiqh usunnah is a modern book by Sheikh Saabik to make fiqh easy for the layman it has nothing to do with ahl bayt or the history of islam. We have various subjects in islaam and Tareekh is islamic history another subject which deals with all the issue being discussed here. All the sunni books of history deals with all the ahl bayt issues etc The fact that you are not aware is a challeneg for you to study formaly under a sheikh or school. You live in london and there are numerous courses on islamic history if you need to learn. This is my advice to you and at this juncture inshallah i will take a stance to stop discussion with you on this issue. Fee amanillah |
NIDO in a few countries are on the payroll of the federal govt to serve their interest. Dugana eyan mi carry on with d good work. |
