@ POSTER
Please go thru this hadith and let me know what you understand about it.

Hadith from Muslim and Bukhari:

(transliteration)
"Inna al-halala bayyin wa al-harama bayyin wa bainahumaa mushtabihaat laa ya'lamuhunna kathirun min an-naas. Faman ittaqaa ash-shubuhaati faqad istabra'a lideenihi wa 'irdhihi. Wa man waqa'a fiy ash-shubuhaati waqa'a fiy al-harami ka ar-raa'iy yar'aa haula al-himaa yooshaku an yarta'a fihi. Alaa inna likulli malikin himaa. Alaa inna himaa Allahi mahaarimuhu. Alaa inna fiy al-jasadi mudhghatan idhaa saluhat, saluha al-jasadu kulluhu, wa idhaa fasadat, fasada al-jasadu kulluhu. Alaa wa hiya al-qalb."

(translation)
"The lawful is clear and the prohibited is clear and between them are some unclear issues which most of the people do not understand. So, whoever steers clear of these unclear issues has obtained innocence for his deen and his self-respect. And, whoever enters into the unclear issues, enters into the prohibited just like the shepherd who grazes his sheep around the royal pasture always about to graze on it. Surely, every sovereign has a forbidden zone. Surely, the forbidden zone of Allah is all that He has made haram. Surely, in the body there is a small chunk of meat. If it is wholesome, the entire body is wholesome and if it is corrupt, the whole body is corrupt. Surely, it is the heart." Muslim & Bukhari
@Virgo

I was listened to a scholar saying there is no unclear issues with the scholars but it is the ignorant people like us that have grey areas. There could be differences of opnion but the issues are clear to the scholars of our faith and they form an opinion or ruling using their ijtihad and they get a reward for it if ti is right and also if is wrong based on their sincerity. Thats why questions are directed to the scholars and why we all seek knowledge. I am sure scholars will have a definite answer to Javaloves question.

France has the right to do whatever they want
France can go ahead and eject muslims or destroy churches, it dont bother me!
tongue
Bro they have a right to do woteva but these are french citizens we are talking about not foreigners they are french born and bred who only simply want to practise their faith in woteva capacity they want. The society preaches religious freedom but it doesnt apply to islam. France is supposed to be a "democarcy"

Since when is 30 % a majority of any kind? If 30% is a majority as you want to slyly claim then this law will not be passed, because the majority of french people are against it.
My post never said 30% is a majority , it just highlights the complexities and untold story of the French society and an impending majority in the nxt 25 years hence the supression or repression of islamic religious symbols.

ElRazur:
Lagosboy.

One of the terrorist that attacked in the UK escaped wearing a Burqa from head to toe. I believe he fled to somalia or something.
Of course i am aware of Osman hamdan who fled throough dover covered. What i amtalking about is a resultant link between terrorism and burqa. No terrorist would go to carry out an attack using a burqa , in fact those guys will never wear a beard and the intelliegence officers i bet know what they look out for and definately not burqa or hijab. It is just mere islamophobia the linking of burqa to terrorism.

$osisi:
There's another Muslim guy that robbed a store in the UK at gun point wearing a hijab
Anybody can hide under them things
Madam osisi whats the proof he his muslim and why does anyone need to wear a hijab to rob a store at gun point

What of all the many thousands that wear the niqaab in the UK , why are they not all causing troubles with it. You cannot simply take isolated cases and make a judgement out of it.
PoliticsRe: Nigerians Are The Most Racist People In The World! by Lagosboy: 11:05pm On Jun 22, 2009
We are bunch of racist people . Triabilist and ethnic bigots. A lagosian mum would tell her son not to marry from Ijebu, an ijebu man will swear not to marry an egba woman both from within same state. An hausa man will fight a non hausa from plataeu state even here on NL. I never knew the level of tribalism among we youths until i started to visit NL 4 year ago. Its just a shame its so common within we youths the futre generation.

$osisi:
In this day of indiscriminate terrorism, every country should do what they have to do to keep their citizens safe.
I am also fearful of a burqua clad individual walking behind me in a store.
It could be anybody.
It could be a man,a rapist,a hardened criminal.
We ought to see the people around us.
Didn't you hear the story of a male criminal in the UK who went around in a burqua.
Burqua lovers should stay indoors or move to places where those things are tolerated.
Personally the things scare me.
Imagine seeing that at night
why a woman would walk around covered in a tent beats me but what choices do many of them have?
Madam osisi i am sure ur kidding with the boldened statement. In all the terrorist attacks around the world could you name just one that is related to the hijab or burqa. This is just plain islamohobia.
The same way a bikini cladded woman on the street terrorises me is the same way some of you might not be comfortable with the burqa but what has someone elses dress got to do with you to be honest if not busy body grin

Of course the womenhave choices, who forces a french woman/citizen/born and bred in france to wear the birqa if not her personal conviction. None of my family members wear the niqaab or burqa but i see nothing wrong in it if it is the conviction of the woman to wear it so let us let them be.

Foreign AffairsRe: France Moves To Impose Ban On Burqa by Lagosboy: 9:29pm On Jun 22, 2009

Lagos boy, the overwhelming majority of people in france are white and if they identified with any religion at all it would be Christian. The ban on public display of religious accessories in public schools affected all religions, not just muslims. Just because France allows Muslims into their country doesn't mean that they are the majority.
It is not an issue of France allowing muslims into their country it is the isue that majority of the muslims in france are actually French born and part of parcel of France. They are not immigrants there maybe their grandparents but not these youths. 30% of under 25 population in france are muslims and yes 30 % so your argument of overwhelming majority doesnt really apply again. The real issue is France is scared in 30 years it will be a muslim majority and the thoughts of seeing all women in hijabs is the real reson behind the banning. How many other faiths display religious symbols like muslims? Almost every single political commentator know the banning was targeted at muslims and not other religions. Read the extract below

France is facing the problem that dare not speak its name. Though French law prohibits the census from any reference to ethnic background or religion, many demographers estimate that as much as 20-30 per cent of the population under 25 is now Muslim. The streets, the traditional haunt of younger people, now belong to Muslim youths. In France, the phrase "les jeunes" is a politically correct way of referring to young Muslims.

Given current birth rates, it is not impossible that in 25 years France will have a Muslim majority. The consequences are dynamic: is it possible that secular France might become an Islamic state?

IslamRe: Islam And My Profession - I Need Help by Lagosboy: 8:25pm On Jun 22, 2009
I have a few questions. Do people pay some money before they could be randomly picked to win a prize? If they dont pay any money or contribute the pot out of which a random person takes it all then it cannot be termed gambling.

On the other hand the contract of employment you have is between you and your company and not the gambling company. You will be creating a program with a defined specification and whatever it used for is not your business as what your being paid for is the program. You will not be involved with the gambling company as in you will not be running the gambling business for them and your not working for the gambling company either.  For you to be involved in gambling you either have to be the gambler, the gambling proprietor, or involved in the running of the gambling business.

You will be in the same category as the producer of the cement, block , funriture in the buliding of the gambling company. The producer of the cement cannot be termed to be involved in haram or the manufacturer of the furniture in the gambling company. Likewise the supplier of the computers at at the gambling company cannot be termed to involved in the gambling business. I believe you fall in this category and in my humble opinion there is no issue with it at all.

Foreign AffairsRe: France Moves To Impose Ban On Burqa by Lagosboy: 11:40am On Jun 22, 2009
If only people will take away their religious bias and look at issues objectively.

First it was the banning of hijabs in schools and government buldings , when they did not acheive their aims now it is banning of burqa in totality. France is a "democracy" and people should have the ability to put on what they want. For goodness sake a woman covered up is termed offensive and a half naked woman walking on the streets is termed cool.

Someone talked of emigration, there are millions of muslims born and bred in France and have no other homes except France. They arent like al we runaways from naija. These people are part and parcle of France and it is up to France to integrate them into the French society and not make them feel disenfranchised like what they are doing right now.

People talked of degradation to women , how is it degrading for a woman who chooses what to wear herself. Who is forcing a grown up woman in France to wear the burqa? No one forced her except herself. Same arguement ws used for the hijab and thousands of women use the hijab in France as a sign of their faith without being forced by no one.

Someone talked of Saudi arabia,Saudi is not a "democracy " remember!!

At a time when real issues should be discussed people are formenting trouble again over a piece of cloth.

The French are not smart in the least, such nonsense can never happen in the UK and with Obama in the US

I am talking on visiting the cemetry/graves is same thing. Aisha visited the grave of her borther, The prophet lifted the ban on visiting of the graves, the prophet saw a woman at the grave and never asked her not to go there again. All these hadeeth btress the aguement of the scholars who permit it.

Abuzola:
Let me elaborate my point for the benefit of viewers., sahih bukhari hadith number 629: from umm 'atiya (mother of atiya) who said 'we were forbidden to accompany the funeral proceesions but not lstrictly" note: forbidde' though am not disputing lagosboy but to let u know why i hold on my word
Accompanying funeral procession is different from visiting of the cemetry. The pagans use to accompany the processions with professional wailers and cryers.

Mukina2  you could visit the cemetry and reflect on the life after death.

@abuzola if you meant accomopnying the body from the mousque to the cemetry in a march i am not sure of that but a woman could be present at the time the body is being lowered into the ground and she could say dua on the dead as well.

FamilyRe: Your Wife Or Mother Who Would You Entrust With Your Money? by Lagosboy: 3:38pm On Jun 19, 2009
omar22:
I know a guy during the early 90’s, though in all honestly he made all his money from hustling and fraud, as at 1994 he has sent about £40000 to Nigeria to his mum to keep, by then the pound to naira was around £1 to N70. Unfortunately for this guy he was deported back to Nigeria, on his way back to Nigeria, he was relaxed about the whole situation. He knew quite alright that by the time he spends around £5k he would be back in England.

After the dust has settled, Bobo turned to his mum, and asked where is my moneyhuh

Erm erm erm your money!!! Well when baba so and so died, we bought this and that!!!

When Iya so and so’s daughter got married we bought this and that…

When my brother was made the Baba ariya of Yoruba land, we bought a white cow,

And the list went on and on…. Ok where’s the rest,

Mama said money is finished…

Well to cut it short, from that moment 15 years ago the guy hasn’t seen his mother and does not plan to see her again.
Pathetic story and silly mother as well.

15 years not seeing his mother might be rather harsh as well. That too much to man.

Everyone has such story to tell about putting families into business and stuff but i dont know the relationship of this guy and hism mum befor ethis incident as if he really gave his mum good warning to keep the money and give her a certain amount of that.

Folks in naija seeing that kind of money will thin the dude had three times that amount so they can blow it and now worries. I dont think any good mother will deliberately want to wreck the lives of their children. undecided

i understand where you comming from and the issue of street hawking is a very wide subject that really needs to be dealt with with a great balance between environmental nuisance, free flow of traffic, poverty and unemployment.

I really think this news of your should spark an interesting debate between all stake holders and a conclusion derived from it.
