it being "permissible" doesnt make it hypocritical. The lame excuse you are giving to aisha for not marrying a non-Muslim should be the same for a Muslim man.

What thing that strikes me though is most of these thieving policians's life and culture is celeberated on the pages of ovation. When they have weddings for the children Bisi Olatiolo voers the video while ovation covers the photograph.

We all pay lip service to good leadership but none of us mind our pockets being oiled by corrupt money under the guise of transacting legitimiate business. May God help us all.
Foreign AffairsRe: Demilitarized State by Lagosboy: 2:24pm On Jun 16, 2009
if we talk of 2 state solution - fine

I believe we have to deal justly with boths states

I believe there should not be a pseudo state among those 2

I beleive we are not talking of a glorified prison like Israel turned Gaza into and said the withdrew.

We do not want anything temporary , if there must be peace there has to be justice and Palestinian state have the RIGHT to protect themselves. A demilitarised state is an njust attempt to peace and Netanyahu doesnt want peace hence going down that route. Even all the so called morderates Abbas, Erakat and co have all rejected the nonsense he proposed. What is a state without a military . what is a state without control of its airspace then can someone tell me what will be the difference between such a state and present staus quo except a Palestinian passport

@Lagosboy,

Iran has the sort of leader you want for Nigeria and yet it is not developed. What is your point?
Read my posts again i said " Only if Nigeria could have an incorruptible man that lives an ascetic life like Ahmedinjad I swear Nigeria will develop in few years as our problem is not administraion or brains but corruption".

Can you compare Irans develeopment and technological advancement with Nigeria huhhuh Iran has a large population as well .

Tayo-D:
So Saddam is now a saint? How do you demonize a devil?
No one is talking of Saddam here but what happened in protests is wrong but its not a new thing. It shouldnt be over hyped. At least protest happened in IRan majority of American friends in the middle east can never have protests in their country Saudi arabia, jordan , Egypt (protesters will be crushed) . British policemen killed a non agressive proetester the other day in london. I have seen worse beatings by policmen and all i am saying is this is not a new thing and should not be over hyped.

Why did Bush recieve Yaradua in white house. Yaradua a product of fraud called election. Iran's election was 100 times better that 2007 elections in Nigeria. No ballot stuffing was recorded, no ballot snatching, no military presence or interferance in election, no violence was reported in the election what more do we want.

JustGood:
You can count on the fact election was fair

By George Galloway on Jun 15, 09 06:46 AM in

There are grounds for being surprised at the result of the Iranian election.

This massive exercise took place without trouble of any kind - the polling stations were kept open longer than required to facilitate the huge lines of people outside.
Indeed, that's one of the reasons I discount the opposition complaints.

When a candidate is reduced to protesting that too MANY people were allowed to vote, you know he's in trouble.

The counting, too, was awesome. And, by the way, there were observers from all four camps present throughout these stages.

Although the western media largely did the usual thing - not straying far from their five-star hotels, talking to those who would happily talk to them and especially if they spoke English - it's clear they mistook the plusher parts of the capital for the country at large. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad commands the loyalty of the poor, the working class and the rural voters whose development he has championed.

He lives like them, looks like them - he's never worn a suit since becoming president - and there's more of them than the English speaking more liberal elites now on the streets demonstrating.

It will soon fizzle out.

http://blogs.dailyrecord.co.uk/georgegalloway/2009/06/you-can-count-on-the-fact-elec.html
How true this is, the protest are all in Tehran which probably has 30% of the votes. Foreign media do not cover the millions that live in villages, moutains, rural areas who adore Ahmedinejad. We quickly forgot he came to power riding on the back of these lowly classed people and they still have strong support for him. Only if Nigeria could have an incorruptible man that lives an ascetic life like Ahmedinjad  I swear Nigeria will develop in few years as our problem is not administraion or brains but corruption.

This author's impartiality is doubtful. Seriously the Iranian-Owned Presstv is the pravda of that country. If that is your evidence please take it back to the dustbin where it belongs.
You obviously do not know Goerge Gallowey MP.

Back to the topic.

It amzes me the way people conclude that an election is a fraud. 40 million people voted, about 15 million voted for Mousavi (32%) if 1 million of these people take to the streets to protest , does that mean Ahmedinijad did not win the electionhuh

I wonder why we are so biased and always swallow what the western media feed us. The conculuded elections in Lebanon Hezbollah did not win and hence western govts hailed the election as free and fair. Perhaps Hezbollah should have protested on the streets and the wester govts would have accused it of destabilising Lebanon.

Iran has the best "democracy" in the middle east and Palestinian elections that brough hamas to power was the best in the whole middle east and yet western govt dont like it. Hell to democracy if this is what it means.!!!

What amazes me again is majority of those proetesting arent mousavi supporters and dont oppose Ahmedinajads foreign policy. most of their anger is the slow down in economic progress and the youths want some more freedom in dressing whic is unlikely to change even if Mousavi wins. Mousavi or ahmedinejad will not halt Irans nuclear program, neither will it change in majority of iranian foreign policy.

See Nigerians talking of iranina election as if the 2007 elections in Nigeria could be termed 10% successul as what was witnessed in Iran. Iran is advanced and the protest is cool.

The over handedness of the law enforcements aginst some proetsters is not a new thing, the british police do the same in protests here in the Uk. I have attended protests and seen the police beating up proetsters, same goes for Germany , France so why are we playing saint. In Nigeria it will be shoot on sight not  even batons. Lets put our own house in order before condemning Iran.

PoliticsRe: Ex- Military Men Have Leadership Qualities Than Civilians. by Lagosboy: 11:31am On Jun 16, 2009
Military is all about leadership and followership. Officers are trained and modelled to be officers because an officer is a leader of men be it a platoon, company, regiment, division and so on.

Civilians can be good leaders as well but the problem we have is most of our politicians lack any leadership skills and they do not have any inborn leadership qualities. They are not sincere to the people and that is a fundamnetal flaw in leadership as you have to be sincere to your followers to earn their trust.

You just read my mind.

Folks a parent will forever be a parent. God knows what the man has suffered to bring your friend up to this stage. God knows how many debts he incurred to send him to school. Children need to learn that there are various ways of having discussion with dad or mum that will not lead to arguements. Why will a good child argue with a parent in the first instance.

We could disagree with our parent but not leading to verbal arguement that will warrant him returning gifts. God knows what your friend told his dad that will make a father return gifts. Remember we are talking about a grown up man !!! The father might be seeing something the son isnt seeing and the son needs to use diplomacy to try to understand where his dad is comming from. He needs to aplogise even if he his on the right and that is being diplomatic in approach.

PoliticsRe: Would MKO Abiola Have Made A Good President? by Lagosboy: 4:52pm On Jun 15, 2009
MKO the legend !!! The president that never was!!! The lion of Gbagura with a heart full of kindness!!!

He is the 2nd greatest  Nigerian I ever met in my opinion. A man of intelligence in its highest form , with a memory of a computer hard drive. He was a great man indeed, his brain will have transfromed Nigeria with a high degree of professionalism.

No doubt he romanced with the army but can anyone tell any polotician of that generation that never did. The army were in power and no businessman will not be close to the pwers that be. I am not talking of the origin of his wealth as that is a different story.

The is No Nigerian and this is a fact no Nigerian living today that touched the lives of many how MKO did. There is no wealthy Nigerian today that attempted or attempt to spread wealth like MKO. In his words he said he wants to spread wealth like manure in Nigeria. This was a man that touched the lives of many home and abroad. Completely detribalised , touched the lives of christaians and muslims, igbo and hausas and got 90% of the votes of the entire Nigeria. Hope 93 it was but it was neer meant to be. Whatever sins he committed those 4 gruelsome years in solitary confinement is more than an atonement and expiation of those sins. He his and forever will be my hero!!!

This was a man that was told to renounce his mandate for freedom and he refused yet people still say he wanted to come and embezzle and not for the development of Nigeria. Of course his business will have also improved if he was president but his love for the people and principled stance should be acknowledged. No or very few Nigerarian politicians will do what he did with the mandate. Everyone around him betrayed him but he stuck to his principles and paid the supreme price.

"A life without a cause worth dying for is a life not worth living"

His brain, intelligence, sincerity and love of the common man will have made him a good president of the masses. None of our leaders give a shit about the common man and they are completely detached from the reality of the Nigerian brand of poverty.

MKO may the mercy of our Lord be on you !!!

SegzyJoe:
@post
the last three posters above my post are the most subjective posters on nairaland. I have followed their post for quite some time now and I realized that their perspective on issues is myopic, subjective and uninformed.

I advise you guys to open up a bit and atleast be objective in your subsequent posts.

The primary qualification of an analyst is to be informed on a particular subject of discussion, but when such simple qualification is compromised, then there is little room for intellectual discussion.

Now on the subject matter of this post, I have no doubt that El-Rufai is more informed than any one of you on this issue. Atleast, he participated in most of the major decision in the last administration and his information is not based on the news media which is the source of information to most frivolous posters on nairaland. Funny enough, majority of these media houses are owned by people El-Rufai revoked their plots and demolished their houses for one crime or the other.

I bet El-Rufai is 100 times better than most lazy posters on nairaland.
I dont think anyone has made reference or doubted el Rufais source of information but what we are saying his he has no moral justification to talk all the ninsesne he his talking about. Here his a man whose case is in court and wanted for questionable dealings talking rubbish in the US. At least Ribadu isnt wanted for corruption. In the west someone like that will keep shut and bury his head in shame, the south korean former leader committed suicide for allegations of yet to be proven corrupt deals.

El Rufai was part of the govt the forced this yradua on us, they were part of the ochestrated worst election in the history of Nigeria, they were part of the rigging and manipulation of Inec, they were part of the whole process and now he his cruing foul because he has lost influence in the administration. He his a coward , otherwise why stay in the US and talk rubbish . He should go back to Nigeria and make all this claims. If you are reading this El rufai, be a man and go face the allegation against you in Nigeria clear your name and we will all believe you are saint and free from corruption.

IslamRe: Emulate The Leadership Qualities Of Prophet Mohammed by Lagosboy: 2:58pm On Jun 12, 2009
I have long decided choice not to respond to any of your posts but i will be a bit flexible with myself here.

noetic2:
By calling a faith demonic, all he has done is to express an opinion. There is something called freedom of speech. That explains why u, babs787, fellis, oyb and abuzuola go to the religion section and state blasphemous opinions. No one has crucified u for that.
Could you make a reference to my blasphemous posts please. Could you quote me me please, if you cant then you could apologise. I seldom make reference to christianity, i dont even posts on threads here relating to the bible and bla bla bla.

noetic2:
No one has ever called u immature or stupid because of that. If u think islam is not demonic, it is up to u to logically state ur case.
If you read my posts you will have seen i just did that and by the way have i called anyone stupid here? Maybe you have mistaken me for yourself.

Now i dont like to discuss personalities or attack personalites but focus on issues please let personality rest now and back to reall issues

JJYou listen i am not one that talks about compettion of religion if you follow my posts well. I dont give a shit about churches growing somewhere. What i am talking about is someone calling a faith demonic thats is my point.

It is immaturity and stupid discussion " oh my faith is better than yours" From now till eternity there will be muslims and there will be people of other faiths till the end of time so wots d fuss. You guys are just becoming annoying day by day and JJyou some of your recents posts have betrayed your maturity i must say.

The fact of islam being the worlds fastes growing faith is a known fact and not propaganda of any sort, I am relaying simple fact and none of your hate messages will remove a hair i say from islam.

yeswecan:
Islamic religion is demonic
From my discussions with you on the Foreign affairs board i could deduce your mindset but you have just sumed it all up. get yourself a life , stop preaching hate and face whatever religon you practice Judaism or christianity.

You could call islam woteva u want but the truth remains Islam has the highest rate of conversion in the western world and dont give me the shit that it is because muslims have more children and more wives I have said CONVERSION. No matter all the negativity thousands of people became muslims in UK and US after 9/11. Yvonne Ridley even accepted islam after being released fromTaliban jail. US soldiers have become muslims, journalists, intelligence officers and so on . This is all due to the sincere and unbiased study of Islam. If you think those out of contexr verses you quoted is all islam is about " all I will say is the optimist sees the doughnaut while the pessimist sees the hole".

Call it demonic or woteva u want it doesnt remove a strand of hair from the near 1.5 billion muslims worlwide, it doesnt stop the many that will still convert today, it doesnt stop us from spreading the message of islam and it will not stop us from defending our faith.

This is quite an interesting thread and food for thought.

It will be great the thread could be placed on track and this is nothing to do with islam. If anyone wants to talk on islam there is a separate section to go.

I wish more christians apart from osisi and noetic (who are obessed with islam) could shed more light on this and lets all be matured in discussion.

@oyb bro you could modify the topic to warfare like you noted.

Some one should put a padlock in this loud mouth and tell him to shut the F**k up. This is the same man being accused of 32 billion and has made a runner from Nigeria, this was the same man accusing Atiku of thieving when they both stole at the privatisation board, this is the same man that bought govt house for himself when he left power. It is the same man in conjustion with one Jimi lawal stole and stole, God knows how many houses el rufai has in Lagos and Abuja.

He his out of power now and trying to win the sypathy of Nigerians and playing on the short memory of the Nigerian populace. We will not forget that fast el Rufai you are a hypocrite and when you get some appointment you will shut your mouth up again . . . . . typical of a telephone coin box.
