kinguwem: Nigerians are gullible to fable tales. We depend so much on miracles anybody can cook up stories to defend a point. They are successes in artificial reproductive techniques (ART). People who can afford them should be encouraged to do so. The hiring of surrogate mothers is also part of the options.
While l believe in miracles AND THE POWER OF GOD (by personal experiences) to do the seemingly impossible, God himself admonishes us to search, investigate and "Hold-on to that which is true"!

*Which Doctor certified this woman to be without womb?
*When was this certification?
*Which Hospital and Laboratory carried out the diagnosis?
*Where is the medical report
*How come we never heard about her when she first got pregnant (early stages of pregnancy?)
*Show us pictures of this woman,... at the progressive stages of her pregnancy
*Was she the only pregnant woman in that hospital when she gave birth?

Or is it not this same Nigeria where Nurses assist desperate couples to steal the babies of other delivered, pregnant mothers only to tell them that their baby dies during delivery and has been "disposed-off"?

Abeegi, make we hear word. If this was supposed to be the MUGUN's M.O.G's advert for more membership, he has tried!

Until we see the facts and we can take steps to VERIFY IT INDEPENDENTLY......
This is just another long-torii planted by another criminally minded, Bible-thumping, pocket pimping Nigerian Pastor.

End of discussion.

With the kind of "MENTALITY" on display on this thread (and its same on most critical threads), l think NIGERIANS are A CRAZY BUNCH and NIGERIA IS PHUCKED!

*F.G awards Road contracts to its cronies (Anenih, Ogunlewe, Fashawe, e.t.c) knowing fully well that these criminals would not do the road (or just pour red sand on it!) .. knowing that these criminals would just embezzle the money.
--- But what can someone like the President do?.. when he himself is a known thief and treasury looter (even by proxy, at times)

Instead of lashing out at the F.G, the morons that most Nigerians are, "see it through TRIBAL/POLITICAL PARTY LENSE"!

*State Governments whose citizens are suffering and dying on these roads try to do the roads.
-- F.G, fearing that they would lose "popularity" at the expense of the opposition party, will put all sort of obstacles on their path and outright erect sign-boards warning the states to stay away from repairing the roads!

Yet, my Niggas would still blame the states for not repairing the roads!! huh huh

One can still recall how OBJ strangled Lagos state for four years, just to bring it to its knees!
WHY: Because state allocation was tied to number of local Govts (which should rightly be tied to population size) ..and Lagos rightly felt that with a population of about 20-million, it deserves more local Govt than some states in the North with a quarter of that population but has more Local Govts than Lagos state!

A sensible OBJ would have said, l will only give you what you earn currently, irrespective of the number of lOcal Govt you "arbitrarily create" by yourself. End of story.
But the idiotic baboon chose to deny the state, its Federal allocation till the Eediot was disgraced out of power while trying to change the constitution ala-Mobutu style, for a third term!

*When Yar Ardua came to power, it was agreed that since the F.G is noted for its looting of funds meant for infrastructure, states which construct roads that belong to the F.G (due t urgent need) should be reimbursed, states like Lagos, which are ruled by thieving Governors like Tinubu, felt it was an opportunity to "extort money" from the F.G!

---Lagos repaired some F.G road but inflated the Bill ... and expectedly, the moaning F.G refused to pay!
Even where the cost was not inflated, the F.G saw it as another opportunity to strangulate the state (opposition-party ruled state!) so as to give them a bad name, make the citizens of the state grumble and be disgruntled so that possibly, they can switch their allegiance to the F.G party (PDP).

*Now, if anyone comes here and tell you that "Tinubu" did not contribute to this problem with his brazen stealing of state funds, that person is simply an "Ostrich".
Any sane President would think twice before doling out any more money to Lagos state, seeing the way the Tinubu has cornered ACN and the allocation of Lagos state, even to the extent of demanding by threat, allocations to Local govts! (I would not even bother to go into details of the roguery and shenanigans of this master-looter!Posterity will write his/their history and it will be damning!)

Having "analysed the genesis of the problem", l will expect that sane people )in government and the masses alike) will look at the problem and proffer a SOLUTION WHICH ADDRESSES AND SOLVE THE PROBLEM! huh

PROBLEM: Bad roads in lagos (most F.G Roads) and the dying thousands of Nigerians (Yes, not only Lagosians die on those roads, trust me on that) dying daily on such roads.

SOLUTION: FIX THE DAMN ROADS ASAP! Simple and straight forward enough, right?

PROCESS:
1.) Get "QUALIFIED EXPERTS and ACTUARIES to determine the "STANDARD AND COST OF EXECUTING EACH ROAD PROJECT".
2.) Tie jail terms and possible executions by firing squads, to anyone who sabotages such National infrastructure by embezzling the funds and not doing the projects on time, properly and to order.
Whether Mr. President has the courage to do these or whether those useless Assembly (Sin-nators and Reps) have the ball to hold him accountable is another factor)

3.) By Public tender, give the road to the best Coy available; if need be, give it to foreign Coys leek Julius Berger, Guffanti, e.t.c. I recall that one of the roads (Ile-Ife road was given to the company of the Ooni of Ife; that thieving and disgrace of an Oba did a shoddy work and embezzled the money! Ofcourse, the contract was payment for his infamous "the man is talking sense saga" during the IBB must go and Abiola must die era!
Same Ooni of Ife said Yar Adua was doing 50-push-ups per day when he is already kaput, weeks ago!
Such a "disgrace to the Yorubas and everything Tradition stands for". He is a THIEF!)
I digress.

4.) Realization that no matter the political differences between parties, who rules where or where the road lies, Nigerians must not be allowed to be dying like chicken, on our roads NEEDLESSLY!
Thus, whatever it takes, those roads MUST be repaired and re-constructed.

5.) Finally, we the Stewpid and gullible masses:
How long shall we be at each others throat, defending shyte, defending thieves and treasury looters, just to make a silly point? Dont we realize that we are all in the same "sinking Boat"?
Dont we realize, as Micheal Jackson will put it, "They (Politicians) dont really care about us"?
They only care about how much they can steal, buy Private Jets (to ensure that they never have anything to do with those roads) and go abroad for medical check-up when they fail to build and repair Hospitals in Nigeria!
How stewpid can we be (as seen on this thread), by "taking sides" and defending them with all sorts of stewpid and up-side-down "logic"??

Roads/Transports affects everything and everybody! ...even if you dont drive on it, the food you buy, the provisions you use are transported on that road! What about your extended family members? What about your Gateman and his family? What about your office worker who lives and plies that road?
Maybe Madam (Dame) Patience Mother would still be alive today, if she had told her husband (Mr. President), the "home truth" about the state of that road? ...what goes around will eventually come around.

We are too selfish, so self-centered that we are willing to sacrifice our own lives ...just to spite other people (Tribes, origins of other state, members of other Political parties, e.t.c) or just for some temporary advantage like our able friends Reuben Abatti, Oshiomole (as NLC Presidnt), Segun Adeniyi (Thisday), Fani Kayode (loud & uncouth mouth!), e.t.c

That is why l think we are a dying specie, a morally decadent specie and we are phucked...except we begin to immediately shine-our-eyes!
It does not stop us from bickering and bitching but we must know where to draw the line... and this l must say, is our greatest failing as a People!

I have watched this clip a few times and it is a classical example of the "greed and brutality" of the Nigerian Police.

Between the Nigeria Police ..and an Armed Robber, l guess a lot of Nigerians will chose the Armed robber.
The Robber has a "declared intention" of dispossessing you of your property (Money or goods).

*Unlike the Nigerian Police, he does not pretend to be "Your Friend".
*He does not wear an official uniform thereby giving you a "false sense" of security!
*An Armed Robber take a a risk to his life, by what he/she is doing, unlike the Nigeri Police who does worse things but with an air of "untouchability"! shocked
*The armed Robber will rob you and flee but the Nigeria Police will rob you and threaten to lock you up or tag you an armed robber, in which case he can even shoot you if he feels you cab expose him!
*The armed robber "works" for himself and his survival; unlike the Nigerian Police who earns a salary at your tax expense. is clothed by tax payers money, armed with our money and shoots us indiscriminately by the gun bought with our money.
*Even more dangerously is that fact that the Nigeria Police has become a MAFIA whereby the "foot soldiers report and make returns" to their Superiors (the same 'Superiors' you'll expect to discipline an erring officer?) who then provide cover for their nefarious activities.

THE NIGERIA POLICE FORCE IS A ROTTEN ORGANISATION. ITS A NEST OF KILLERS, CRIMINALS AND EXTORTIONISTS.
THEY HAVE SO MUCH INNOCENT BLOOD ON THEIR HANDS!

Every person wearing that NPF Uniform should be ashamed of themselves, their family should understand that we see them as a disgrace to their children, wife and family members. If we had a choice right now, l will recommend they ALl be discharged and locked up in an Island Prison.
NO WONDER 99% OF THEIR CHILDREN ARE ARMED ROBBERS, CULTIST AND NEVER-DO-WELLS! Its the "Law of Karma"!
Where is that stewpid and shameless "Policewoman" on Nairaland, let her come and open her caustic mouth once again! tongue

That Policeman was threatening and invoking the authority of his senior collaborators!
He was confirming that he does not work alone but "reports the loot" to his superiors (and l know this is true).

We all remember Tafa balogun? Ehindero? These are the "very top" (Inspector Generals) of Nigeria Police!

Exposing them to the whole world is the way to go.
The Public should equip their vehicle with "mini DVR" that can record inside and outside the vehicle (Fro Insurance purposes! grin grin ). Its cheap and you can get it on Ebay.
Anytime you think you will have a dealing with these scumbags, 'secretly' set your phone on recording first, before engaging them. (be careful these scumbags will not hesitate to snuff out your life, if they know they have been caught red handed!

aburo7: Nollywood actress Uche Jombo bares her mind on her marriage to her Puerto-Rican husband:

If your husband were to be a serial philanderer like Desmond’s character in the movie, Lies Men Tell, what will you do?
I will castrate him, he knows and believes that. To me, there is no excuse to cheat, its either you are with someone or not, and if you are tired of the person, please accord the person decency of respect by saying it’s over. Don’t go making someone look stupid. The problem with me is there is no in- between.

Do you believe what you are saying or are you saying it for the purpose of this interview?

I am saying,Uche Jombo-Rodrigues doesn’t have in-between. That is the reason it takes me long time to make a decision or take a stand on something, but when I do, that is it. There is no excuse not to honour an agreement you have made, this doesn’t have anything to do with this interview. It is the principlethat guides me. It is not just about marriage, it’s how I conduct my relationships, its either it is this or that, if that is my mind-set in a relationship, you should know that for marriage it’ll be 150%. There is no room for cheating.

So you believe your husband will or should not cheat on you?
I don’t have control over what someone will do, I’m not God. I’m talking about me, how I conduct things. It’s not an option that it will happen, I will not tolerate cheating.

Are you saying you will not forgive the man who cheats on you and is manly enough to say I’m sorry?
If you are in that situation Sam, oh God! You are going to slave for me for life. And do you know any man that will want to slave for a woman for life, answer?

****shakes head in astonishment****

You hate something, you criticize and lambast it,....yet, you do not provide a better option, not even for your own very self!
We must all learn to put our "money" where our "mouth" is, as it is often said.

We might not be a perfect nation/people, but as Yorubas, we try very hard to attain perfection!
We focus more on ourselves, in this process of "self-evaluation, self criticism and self development" .... and we expect other tribes to do the same!.....

......Not expending all their time and energy on criticizing Yorubas and calling us names when they themselves are still way-behind!
Or why do you think they cant stay in the East and develop the place.... since Lagos ceased to be a Federal capital?

We love other tribes including the Igbos but "Love is reciprocal and Hospitality is a virtue that should not be abused.... by good "guests".

Onlytruth: This is the most ludicrous thing I have ever heard of; that someone is trained and then forcefully deported or removed from a state within his/her own country.

No matter how one dresses up poo, it still stinks!

I'm happy that some folks have articulately discussed the issue of Federal funds which flowed freely (in the past, and still funds) to build key infrastructure in Lagos: IBB bridge (third mainland bridge) quickly comes to mind as a good example.
The other issue is tax money coming from rich and successful non-indigenes of Lagos who fund the government, only for poor people from their origin states to be sent packing.

In this life, chaos and anarchy is very easy to achieve, while sanity, order, justice and fairness are always very hard.
When this anarchy spreads to other parts of Nigeria, folks should remember who started it.
Stop spreading malicious rumor and hatred!

THE PROCESS THAT LED TO THE REPATRIATION OF THESE UNDESIRABLE ELEMENTS IS WELL DOCUMENTED IN "naptu's post", a few pages back!
I know you have read it but still prefers to incite hatred .... and you'll be the first to whine and moan that Yorubas hate you! shocked shocked

For avoidance of doubt, here is the summary:

1.) There is a law in place banning begging and street trading (Its so everywhere in the civilized world).
2.) Govt apprehends OFFENDERS and give them the option to Train them with useful skills that they can live on.
3.) Those who chose to avail of these benefit are taken to the various SKILL CENTRES scattered all over Lagos.
4.) They are trained and given Skills like Furniture making, Auto Mechanic, Baking, Screen Printing, to name a few.
5.) On finishing their training, Fashola then gives them 250,000 to start their business and move-on with life, in a dignified manner.
6.) Some despite the efforts of fashola to improve their life, are too greedy and criminally minded to live with dignity!
7.) These criminally minded ones SQUANDER the seed-money they are given on all sorts of frivolities and vices like "baba'jebu or pools-betting".
8.) Because they use the hawking and street begging as "a cover for criminality like robbery", they are eager to return to the streets to start "pretending to be "beggars and hawkers" while in actual fact, some of them are informants for armed robbers!

IT IS THESE GROUP OF MISCREANTS THAT FASHOLA HAS REPATRIATED.... AFTER TRYING ALL POSSIBLE BEST FOR THEM BUT THEY JUST DONT WANT TO LIVE A DECENT LIFE!

This is NOT THE SAME as the inciting and hateful picture you're painting!
Lagos cannot forever be a "dumping ground" for all sorts of miscreants and shady characters.

Hardworking Igbos are ever and will forever be welcomed and co-exist with others in lagos... and Yoruba land in general.
That is who we are; VERY HOSPITABLE AND ENLIGHTENED NATION.

Probably, if they go back to their "states of origin" where there is not much for them to rob in slow traffic, maybe they would take to farming or even appreciate what "Lagos" has done for them.

BTW: If anyone feels this is so bad, why dont you folks prevail on your own state Governor in the EASTERN STATES, to give these deportees a "Better option" in their "home states in the East? ...instead of expending so much energy on criticizing "others" huh huh
Or you think they ran away from Igbo land because life was very decent and dignified for them? Just look in the MIRROR, for once.

Abeegi joor.

PointB: Fashola is making rapid progress. From the lowly flower planter to Okada chaser. Now he's step up the plate to Igbo deporter, which is just a shade away from Igbo hater.

Training one or two Igbo hawkers will not atone for his malicious deportation of 67.
We shall not forget this gesture.
Too much puffing, huffing and chest-beating! grin grin
Stop whipping-up negative sentiments and emotions.

On a practical note, you can only "politically muscle your way around" if you have the numbers.
Just like the Afro-American and Latinos are able to do in the U.S.
That is what they call "King-maker"!!

Now, looking at the demographics, the Igbos in Lagos dont account for up to 15% of the TOTAL population of Lagos state..
.... and that is if most of them are bothered enough to leave their wares/buying and selling, to go and register and get a voters card!

So, "switching support" to PDP for example, (for debate purposes only) will only garner the PDP a few more votes but they will still lose the election.
......(I am saying this because you would realize that the voting pattern in Lagos is heavily-skewed in favor of the winning party (A.C), to the ratio of like 85% - 15%.)

And then you will have to bear the consequence of being relegated to the status of "an opposition tribe", in Lagos!
That, my friend, is not a palatable thing to imagine o! shocked shocked

The Igbos have to get out of this self-inflicted "They hate us syndrome"!
Nobody hates you! ...but you must remember that "(Your) Action and the Reaction (of others to your action), is EQUAL and OPPOSITE". .....Newtons First Law with a human face!

Show love... and you will receive love from others.
Show respect and decorum ...and you will be showered with same.
Show honesty and decency ...and you can bet that it will flow back to you.
This is what is expected of "migrants', in a host community.

But Keep hating and denigrating others.... and you will have same, in full measure, plus extra!
wink
Its just natural.

Peterjosh: like u don't understand what I wrote Jesus himself prayed for the dead and he raised up Lazarus from that state even the apostles did thesame thing,so if God did not answer their prayers for the dead how was it possible to raise up d dead?
You right, Jesus RAISED the Dead! He has the power of Life and death in his hand.

He did not PRAY FOR THEM (Jesus and the Apostles exercise authority and command over death) to be forgiven their sins.
Infact, their "level of sin" was nto taken into consideration in raising them.

It is just a "demonstration of his authority and the power to raise to life" all those who believe, suffer and die" on HIS ACCOUNT!
Now, he needed to do that, to CONVINCE them that 'His Ministry' is truly EMPOWERED to do so.

He also did a lot of things ...just to convince them, back then. (e.g, turning water to wine! Even the G.O's and Muguns MOG's of TODAy, buy their wine today! ...... and they dare not walk on the Atlantic Ocean! ...or allow themselves to be NAILED to a Stake! grin )

NOW, we dont need convincing (That is why we have the COMPILED BIBLE) now, everything is there for us to "observe and experience".

TODAY, let no one deceive you, NO ONE CAN RAISE THE DEAD! (As in truly certified "dead person" with all the necessary checks and balance to ensure that no trickery is involved! grin ).

agho22: We are all confusing our selves, praying for the dead is vital only when they neva had the chance to accept the gospel while on earth, if u had chance here on earth and belive prayers will get to u, my dear oyo 4 you...
The Bible gives those who NEVER had the opportunity of knowing about God ..... a SECOND CHANCE at Salvation.
That is what "The second tribulation" is all about.
Praying for the dead has no effect at all, ... if they have accepted Christ and lead "his life" while alive then their salvation is ALREADY ASSURED!
Why would they need your prayers again?
huh

If persin don pass exam already why another person go dey clamor to enrol him into 'tutorial classes'? grin grin

chukwudi44: Yes it works for those who died in sin that does not lead to spiritual death.1john 5:17.

Read up 1 cor 15:29 to see that the apostles even baptised people on behalf of those who are dead.
huh huh huh

1Cor 15; 29
- Now, if there is no RESURRECTION, what will those "do", who are baptized for "the Dead"? If the "dead" are not raised at all, why are "people" baptized for them?

Questions:
1.) who is being referred to as "The Dead" in this verse?
2.) How is anyone "baptized for" such "The Dead"?
3.) what has resurrection got to do with this verse?

To answer these question (which will shed light on the CONTEXT of its usage and meaning; ...as most of us misquote and mis-apply Bible verses, leading to confusion), l will IMPLORE you to read from verse one of the same chapter.

In summary, the Apostle was preaching to 'others' about how he is sure that there will be resurrection of anyone that dies in Christ, using example that Christ himself, on behalf of which he preaches and baptized others (baptized for the dead) ...also dies (the dead) and was resurrected.

So,
1) "The Dead" is Jesus Christ that 'died on the cross'

2) Everyone that believes in Christ (The dead) is BAPTIZED for/ or in the name of "the dead'.

3.) The verse was encouraging "others" whom the Apostle was talking to, to have faith, that if they believe in Christ who, though died, was raised by his Father God.... so anyone who exercise faith in Jesus, gets Baptized 'in jesus' even if he dies, will be just as well resurrected.

Thus Sir, your Bible Quote is a complete misinterpretation and misapplication of that passage to justify that "The Dead benefit from our Prayers".
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now, BACK TO THE QUESTION: Do the "Dead" BENEFIT from our PRAYER?

1.) Genesis 2:7 - Then the Lord FORMED A MAN FROM THE DUST OF THE GROUND. (Yes, from "dust of the ground!)

2.) Ecclesastes 9:10 - Whatever your hands find doing, do it with all your might, for in the REALM OF THE DEAD, where you are going, there is NEITHER WORKING NOR PLANNING NOR KNOWLEDGE NOR WISDOM

3.)Psalm 146:4 - When their "SPIRIT DEPARTS" (dead), THEY RETURN TO THE GROUND (dust), on that very day, THEIR PLANS COMES TO NOTHING

4.)Ezekiel 18:4 - .....'The one' who SINS is the one who will DIE (The Soul that sinneth WILL Die!)

5.) Isaiah 26:14 - They are now DEAD, they live no more; their spirits do not rise ..... You WIPED OUT ALL MEMORY THEM!

6.) Deut 18: 10, 11 & 12: - Let no one be found amongst you who .... casts out spell or who is a medium or WHO CONSULTS THE DEAD;... ANYONE WHO DOES THESE THINGS IS DETESTABLE TO THE LORD.

DIGESTING all the above scriptures, we can summarize as follows:

a.) We are created from dust, when we die, our body and "spirit" returns to dust (God would resurrect the spirit by "calling it up from the state of dead", at the appointed time... just as he did Jesus!).

b.) In that "DEAD STATE", the body is DECAYED and the SPIRIT KNOWS NOTHING! It can neither plan nor have knowledge or wisdom or benefit from anything that we "alive humans" benefit from!
And that includes benefiting from our prayers! ALL MEMORY of them is WIPED OUT!

*There is no Repentance in the Grave (Cant remember the Bible verse for this one)
...thus, how can there be "Forgiveness" (due to our own prayers for them), if they themselves are NOT AFFORDED THE OPPORTUNITY OF REPENTANCE, which precedes forgiveness?

Thus, the dead DO NOT BENEFIT FROM OUR PRAYERS! ...because "After death, its JUDGEMENT"! (Hebrews 9:27)
Only the living (and when they are alive, can benefit from our prayers)

Happy Sunday.

naptu2: miqos02: The Ogun State Government on Wednesday allocated 500 hectares of land to the Lagos State Government for agricultural purposes.

The government said this in a statement jointly signed by the governors of Ogun and Lagos states, Ibikunle Amosun and Babatunde Fashola, at the end of a meeting between the two states.

It also said the letter of allocation for the land was presented to Fashola during the meeting.

Amosun also handed over Certificate of Occupancy of Iju Water Works to Fashola during the meeting.

The two governors re-affirmed their committment towards regional integration of the South-West.

Despite the various DEFICIENCIES of Governments in the South West of Nigeria, l am still full of SMILES when l see the "EAGERNESS and WILLINGNESS" in them to COOPERATE and INNOVATE.

Lagos is far ahead of any state in Nigeria but the "Yoruba States" are not just ahead of other states but they posses the RIGHT ATTITUDE to rid their states of POVERTY.
It may take two decades or less but with such cooperation and forward thinking, its just a matter of time before these surrounding Yoruba states start developing as "likes will beget likes" and development rubs-off on each other.

Just imagine, The Iju water works is "physically located in OGUN STATE.
It serves and is mostly used by Lagos state / Lagosians. Iju Town itself has been carved-in, surrounded and encircled by developments under Lagos state (Many live in Iju (Ogun) and work in Lagos!

For ADMINISTRATIVE CONVENIENCE, EFFICIENCY AND INTER-STATE COOPERATION, two state executives have decided to "swap land" ....

.....l am wondering whether Umuleri and Agwuleri (and some of those Governors from other parts of Nigeria), can learn a thing or two from this? huh huh huh

Well, Yoruba land is Moving forward and moving on, take it from me!
I guess in the future, we will have a United States of Oduduwa" (USO)!! kiss kiss wink
Fully integrated and advanced nation where "Entry Visa fees only", would net us much more than what U.K Home Office makes from Visitors and immigrant residents! cool cool shocked

@naptu, thanks for bringing all these together, l hope Fashola is 'recognizing' properly?
@All: I think what is good is worth emulating. We dont need to be (like Beef) beefing each other, instead, we can cooperate and become mutually beneficial.
