Politics › Re: Britain Links Homophobia In Africa To Foreign Aid.is That The Right Thing To Do? by lastpage: 6:13pm On Jun 26, 2011
l thought a "little intelligence" on the part of these DEVIANT AND PERVERT gays should be expected?

How they keep referring to "Lastpage" as the same person as "Sagamite" is beyond understanding!

First, with the number of post credited to both 'handles', you will not think any one in his/her right mind would go to that extent to conceal a "pseudo-identity"?
Secondly, with the kind of "spats" l've had with Sagamite in the past (l no like the dude one bit! grin and l sure say the feeling is mutual but based on principles! wink ), only a stewpid gay.got with his/her butt-hole regularly & permanently violated would fail to see the difference in personae!

If your pervert lifestyle is making you delusional, not my problem, keep it within your household tongue

l would have answered "Ogugua88" in detail (since she quoted me) but from her previous postings, l am sure she is a juvenile and still "maturing" in terms of real-life issues. No pun intended. I will not ask you to tell me where you are in 1987  wink

But let me add that those three links you provided are not in anyway confirming that gays are being murdered in Nigeria. We are generally a diverse and tolerant people until pushed to the wall.
As a matter of fact, whatever any "Asylum seeking gay.got" claims to the host country is usually taken with a pinch of salt by intelligent peeps (even more by immigration officials, knowing how some Nigerians will "say anything" (even make-up lies against their parents!) just so they can be pitied and granted "STAY OR REFUGEE STATUS"wink cos their motive for doing so is not only obvious, IT IS A SCAM IN MOST CASES!. Na today?

People "make choices" knowing fully well the consequences of their choice but greed and the belief that they can get away with such consequences, make them go ahead.
A thief makes a choice, knows (s/he) could and will likely be caught but the "lucre" he/she is about to profit is too much a blinding lure to criminality.
Same goes for those who chose to be gay.gots (some use it to get wealth and social connection, some use it as a form of 'ritual' while some just like to live the fantasies of their twisted minds! Its their choice, its their consequence, just as it is same for any "straight" person.

This is not about "thumping Bible" as you claim, just like gays have the privilege to thump their ars-holes, in their own privacy, whether anyone thumps Bible or not, as long as they dont force YOU, YOURS or YOUR CONCERNS to CHANGE, SO AS TO SUIT THEIR LIFESTYLE (Remember, your "right" is extinguished naturally, the moment it starts to impinge on and usurp others right?).

That should be a simple-enough rule, even for gays to follow?
Do your thingy in a way that it does not offend the "sensibilities" of others who dont share your perverted way of life, even as abhorring as it is! But hell no, they have to stick it up our face to prove a point!
I recall you claim to be an "advocate of gay.gots", is that all there is to it or you will still "shock" us with your actual orientation? grin

BTW: Why have the closet gay.gots refuse to openly identify themselves up till now? Are you ashamed of what you turned yourself into?

Crazy Twats! grin

JUST WHY THESE gay.GOTS CANT JUST LIVE THEIR DEVIANT LIFE, WITHIN THEIR CONFINES, IS WHAT STILL BAFFLES MOST!

They've been doing it in Nigeria for years, l am yet to hear of ONE SINGLE INCIDENCE where they were stoned to death or murdered!
We are that tolerant !!

But when they are NOW trying to take it to the NEXT LEVEL, trying to GO PUBLIC and desecrate out societal fabric,
That is where they cross the "peaceful line".

BTW: IF they are so convinced of their "NATURALISM" why cant all these "Supporters Club" do us a FULL DISCLOSURE (as l asked before) on what the type of Hole they drill?  grin shocked huh

I have a hunch that it could be that the 'S' and '5' are mixed-up!
The first letter could be a five (5), instead of an 'S' as l have stated initially.
I will go back to the vehicle and try again, if you dont mind?

Foreign Affairs › Re: Ghana GDP Growth Accelerates To 23% by lastpage: 2:16am On Jun 26, 2011
@Martass
Some Nigerians here have already started making comparisons. There is no need.

What is happening in Ghana is a child’s play compared to what Nigeria could really do.

Nigeria has it all made to be a real economic powerhouse, the problem here is Nigerians themselves.

Nigeria has about 40 billion barrels of oil reserves (Ghana has what? 1.2b?). It has huge human resources and a huge land mass, covering 356, 669 sq miles. It has all the stars aligned; it has the resources and inherent impetus to be a real model in Africa. The problem is Nigerians.

Over the course of 50 or so years since oil was discovered in Nigeria, a whopping 800 billion has been pumped into the Nigerian economy from oil revenue alone. That is no chump change for a poor developing country. The question here is, has Nigeria derived the necessary benefit from this windfall over the period. If not, not to worry, let’s start afresh again because Nigeria is very lucky and still has a huge reserves of a commodity which is in hot demand.

Now, though a lot of this 800b has been stolen and misappropriated, a lot still has been used in infrastructure development which is good.

Nigeria should now turn to dealing with the basic problems of nation building and ruthlessly deal with it; I believe it has the resources to do that.

What I think Nigeria should focus on is completing the infrastructure development they have started. If the task is too much for Nigerians, they should not hesitate to sort the help of international experts to lead them to accomplish this task whiles they still have a commodity which could rake in the dollars for this kind of projects. Time is running out for this commodity, it would not enjoy its current status forever.

One infrastructure which keeps nagging and hampering progress is electric power, which has become a perennial problem.

I don’t for the life of me understand why Nigeria with all its resources can not take the bull by the horn and solve this problem. This I think is not good and does unfairly give credence to the false notion that Africans are not capable. It can be understood if you don’t have money, but I think there is no excuse here.

There must be a strategic plan, a blue print, printed in gold if you will, for solving this problem

Nigeria should sort the help of international experts to help them deal with this problem because it is very important for an onwards march to economic empowerment.

Using Nigerian expertise and management has proven to be ineffective and wheel spinning since corruption and stealing is endemic. For instance it’s no secret that billions and billions has been pumped into dealing with the electricity problem and yet there isn’t much to show for it. Now is the time to sort the help of foreign experts and management to handle it. Some ego massaging may be needed here.

I know what Nigeria has and the prospects and opportunities it has been naturally endowed with. If these opportunities are not managed and handled properly and the well dries up, it could be really chaotic, for an African nation of 158M people. As a matter of fact there could easily be chaos in West Africa.
It looks like nature has a way of maintaining its balance and has richly blessed Nigeria with this natural resource to take care of its huge population.

Nigeria has 70 percent of its population living below the poverty line. Make use of the resources, especially the Oil, before it’s too late.

For Ghana, the resources are limited, and the lucky discovery of oil should be a catalyst to make things happen. It is not a huge resource so Ghanaians should work extra hard and make sure not a dime is wasted or misappropriated. Currently, Ghana has an enviable international goodwill and must make sure they maintain that impetus. One mistake and all could go up in smokes and the circle of poverty would continue for God knows when.
This is a brilliant contribution!
It a shame that when issues like this arise, the ONLY thing some can see is "an opportunity to insult GEJ"! Their fixation on GEJ is driving them NUTS! grin

Now, let me return to your post Martass. The bolded parts refers.
I like to look at issues from "the other side" and l have a very strong feeling that "those we are looking up to, to help us, could actually be one of our worst enemies, when it comes to "development".

1.) Corruption is the bane of our under-development, despite the billions of petro-dollars.
2.) Where are these stolen dollars lodged? Answer: Europe and America! (The West in general)
3.) Do these countries, who themselves have zero-tolerance for official corruption, know about this stolen loots? Yes is the answer.
4.) Are they aware of the damage this theft of national purse is causing our nation? YES is the answer
5.) Would they have helped us, if every Nigerian leader knew that they cannot stash money overseas as such money would be frozen and PROMPTLY RETURNED to Nigeria? Yes is the answer again!
6.) Do they provide solace/cover for these corrupt officials (some of them even have their citizenship: Ibori is an example!). Yes is the answer!

Now, l am working on a theory that the West is the greatest beneficiary of our under-development, in terms of cheap Labour (Go and see what Nigerians with "real potential" do Abroad, in U.K, Europe and U.S!). They know how it will "negatively affect their economy" if Africa as a whole realizes its potential, one of the reasons they have all these "Residency, Green card Lottery, HSMP, e.t.c programmes to lure Africans down there! grin ).
Imagine a prosperous Africa or Nigeria for that matter (with stable power, good roads, efficient infrastructure, good hospitals, e.t.c), How many "cheap labor" do you think U.K alone will loose in a jiffy? You think those Nigerians "blowing grammar" about their "Blue Passport" are enjoying U.K with its harsh weather? grin They would all run home in droves. Nigeria is where the "Real living is" if infrastructure was available; Abroad is just to work and make money!

Now, take Libya and Ghadafi as a recent example.
If anyone thinks its just because of "over-staying in leadership" is why they want him dead, that person needs to dig-deeper down!
This was a guy who scoffed their monopoly on our communications link and paid half of the "Billion dollar required for Africa to have its own Trans-Atlantic Communication Fibre Cable. Before then, we paid 100million to Europe every year, to use their communication link (have you ever wondered why a call to Ghana, from Nigeria in those days (70's/80s and early 90s), costs more than a call to Britain? Its because it has to be routed to Britain First and then back to Ghana! shocked Ghadafi broke their monopoly on That. He contributed half the fund required.

Again, Ghadafi might be mentally unstable but do you also remember that he was the champion of a United States of Africa, with a unified Military like NATO (A kind of African E.U)! There are so many other things he stood for which we cant go into over here.
The bottom line is that The Arabs hate him (he identified more with Africa than with Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, UAE and did not join their Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC, which invited, supported and gave legitimacy to NATO's "humanitarian bombs"wink.
Even worse, France and Britain (who still see themselves as "Lord of Africans) think it is "PAY-BACK TIME" for these little man that wants to "Unite Slaves against their Lords! wink

Why did l go into all these scenario?
I want us to know that the issue of development vis-a-viz corruption by African leaders, has a "western tint" and that tint is strong enough not ot be overlooked but most people brush it aside, out of "in-experience".

Having said all these, we have no excuse to be what we are today, irrespective of any "external" underlying forces

Nigeria needs a strong leader with foresight.
A "strong" Nigerian leader also needs citizens who can back him "to the death", not the sorts of "citizens we currently have in Libya who will destroy their for a "plate of porridge"! Just wait and see what happens 5yrs down the line in Libya, long after Ghadafi is gone! wink

We need a leader who is altruistic, crafty as a serpent yet gentle as a dove.
Being weary of the "West" itself, is the beginning of wisdom.

Why cant they just keep their perverseness to themselves, within their closets?

@namfav
sanusi studied islamic economics, do you expect him not to give his expertise? in banking few a better than sanusi in africa, some people are just too stoopid here
I would not have responded to YOU but you quoted my contribution!
Now, l thought we agreed that we would discuss "using our brains" and not our "ar-se hole"?
Let me allow u to display more ignorance in the mean time.

@nagoma
My Dear last page . Your fears are unfounded . All banks in Nigeria are southern, unity bank has some northern interest and I know that southerners will love to see that disappear ( the northern infinitesimal share in banking) when you look at many really objective postings in this trail you will see that  Islamophobia  is the basis of your fears. You did not emphasize choice - which is a strong  pillar in free enterprise. About SLS competence in leading that group ( CBN) . The world has made it's unbiased observation a number of times and they will not hesitate to make a different one when the time comes - unlike u a christian southerner and me a muslim northerner whose primordial instincts could overtake our reasoning at times. Pipe down and chose whichever banking suits you - christian banking or Islamic banking - it's a question of give a penny and take your choice- so says the bank of Scotland and numerous other banks elsewhere
Thanks for your approach.
This is the "first line of my first contribution":
Nothing actually wrong with "ISLAMIC BANKING", its a choice!
You can bank there if you want or bank elsewhere.
So, you were wrong to say l do not advocate FREE CHOICE, l do very much and that is why l said no one needs to be afraid of Islamic Bank itself. Everyone has a choice on where to bank.

Again, l for one would not "love to see" Northerners "out of the banking system".
Contrary, l want more of Northerners (in a fair and equitable manner, i.e putting their money in it and buying a license from CBN and starting a bank; just like the Southerners like Akingbola, Jim Ovia, Cecilia Ibru, e.t.c did.
I dont want a system that "short-circuits" them to CEO, by default of Sanusi's action, in a bank that was started and owned by a Southerner)
Isn't that fair enough to say?
You see,let us be honest, in a pluralistic society like ours, we cannot afford to do something to "one part of the country" when we know that our actions would "throw the benefit" (deliberately or not), to the other part. It breeds instability!

Again, if l correctly understand what "Islamophobia" is, (Fear of Islam/Muslims?)
Naah, l dont fear Islam as a religion nor do l fear Muslims as a people.
I believe "religion" should be a matter of free choice, private and personal.
I believe Muslims are no different from Christians (we are all humans) just that we chose to serve God in a different manner!
As long as l dont try to "force you" to embrace my own religion and you dont force me to embrace yours, WE ARE BEST OF FRIENDS grin

And believe me, honestly, l have tons of friends (bosom friends of over 35yrs!) who are Muslims!
Edl-Malud for me, na Carry-go, Christmas for them, na carry-go, we dont give a shyte, we just celebrate ourselves

Only stewpid people fight "on behalf of God"!  shocked grin over religion!
God is big and powerful enough to defend himself
, if he feels offended, l no send at all grin

I hope you put my contribution into perspective again.
In summary, it was about Sanusi (as Financier to the whole Nation, North/South, Christian/Muslim) doing things in a way that would not cause jiters among the populace. Its not everyone that views "religion and Ethnicity" the way l think it should be viewed and we need to understand and "make allowance" for such people and believe me, THEY ARE IN MILLIONS!
Cheers.

@manny4life^^^^Sorry please, l was just "shocked" that you were "shocked"!
You know, Shock + Shock = small weed! kiss

Okay, l did not smoke it, l just put the darn thing on fire! grin

Dont worry a thing about Islamic banking. If you dont like it, dont patronize the Bank! Chickenna!! wink Go to GTBank or Zenith or any other one.

What you should be worried about are:
a) If it was established with our money! i.e Nigeria's money, under Chief Sanusi
b) If it was adopted like it was a "State Bank" when the likes of GTBank or Zenith are "Privately owned Banks"
c) If it begins to enjoy "special status" over other "private Banks", under Sanusi's regime!
d) When you check-out the landscape in 2yrs time and you discover that suddenly, majority of Bank CEO's (including privately owned ones like Zenith!) are Northerners! shocked shocked

That is when yo should begin to really worry-worry! Its a bad sign

BTW: I think in  a "secular society" like ours (one with plurality of religions!), the State should deliberately put-in mechanisms to make all members feel welcomed. They must check excessive display of 'religion' in anything "National" just to ensure everyone is comfortable but in Nigeria, the opposite seems to be the  norm!
Now, l am getting shocked again! huh

@nagoma: I just saw ur contribution now while trying to post this one.
Please allow me to respond after.

Well, l would not be surprised if and when all the "closet gays" descend on this thread and start yarning poo about how Cameron is right!

In the first place, his comment was not only an insult to African leaders/Nations, it a challenge.

The only dude that was ever in that situation of "if you dont do what l say, then l would starve you", was BINGO my lovely Dog and even him got wiser and chose to invade the pantry, one night! grin

This is what happens when "lost people" are desperate to ensure that every other person must follow their "path-to-destruction"!
First, they tried "Suggestion" and it failed!
Then they followed it with "Persuasion" and their argument was puerile!
Now, its gotten to the state of INTIMIDATION! Who the heck do these Caucasians think they are?

Is Cameron himself not straight or must he use "Africans" to garner British votes?

Anyway, its not his fault, like the Yorubas will say "Its the Child that keeps dieing often, that makes its mother suffer repeated, failed pregnancy" (literally speaking).
If we have real Leaders, we would have gone to Britain and "air-lift this Cameron" to come and answer charges bothering on "incitement"! wink

Is it by force that we must all become gays like them? Morally Rotten people (though they are more organized, as a society!)

BTW: The UN is NOT DEMOCRATIC, in concrete Terms. The argument is for another day sha.
Just look at how Ban-Kee-Moon was "returned" and what he did for US/NATO and their collaborators, just so he would be returned!

Nothing actually wrong with "ISLAMIC BANKING", its a choice!
You can bank there if you want or bank elsewhere.
It is a PRIVATE ENTERPRISE, like Zenith Bank or GTBank or Unity Bank.

THE CONCERN OF MOST PEEPS AS L HAVE OBSERVED are:

1.) The Current CBN Guvnor is a MUSLIM

2.)That the CBN Guvnor (who is a national asset), is the one championing the establishment such bank!

3.) By the purpose of his office, he is supposed to be an unbiased "supervisor/umpire" and should have NO VESTED INTEREST IN ANY BANK

4.) There is currently a "perceived atmosphere" of DOUBLE STANDARDS in the way the past Banking verification exercise was carried out (with Sanusi rushing to the press to condemn some banks (which caused a "further run" on their liquidity), right in the middle of the exercise, when a NORTHERN BANK, i.e. Unity Bank, has not even been Audited!). By doing so, he gave them (the unaudited ones) an undue advantage!

5.) It was observed that Sanusi allowed Unity Bank to recapitalize BY ITSELF (by giving them the time and opportunity) but denied the same leverage, to other Banks owned by Southerners who are predominantly Christian. He hurriedly replaced their Southern CEO's (Now, we must not loose sight of the fact that all CEO's are greedy and criminal to some extent, (having worked as a banker for many years, l know this inside stories) but the likes of Cecielia Ibru took corruption to "the next level" and there were many like her. The removal of such "cancers"are welcomed as long as it is done fairly and without ulterior motives (you know now, we can use one stone to kill two birds! wink )

6.) Sanusi, as CBN Guvnor is alleged to be nursing a "Northernization of Nigerian Banks (Majority of which are owned and developed by Southerners) by using the current global recession and attendant liquidity squeeze/bank insolvency as an excuse, to remove the Southern Owners of such banks and injecting a LARGE PERCENTAGE of NORTHERNERS into their Executive Boards/CEO

7.)The jury is still out as to whether our banks have become stronger or weaker, since Sanusi assumed the CBN Guvnorship or whether the value of the Naira at the exchange market has improved (1Euro = #225, $1 = #155, 1GBP = #256! as of today, Four years ago when Soludo left, it was 156, 125, 220 respectively). You can make or draw your own conclusions, from facts!

Now, with what l have itemized above, the question therefore is:
Do you think Nigerians (especially Christians and Southerners) have a genuine reason to be apprehensive of this current CBN Guvnor, who by the way, studied NOT Banking & Finance, Economics or Accountancy or any numerate core course for that matter, but is a graduate of ISLAMIC STUDIES! grin
I respect Sanusi as a person and this is not about personality but about policies.

And for the sake of FULL DISCLOSURE (which l think every one commenting on issues that have a tint of Religion/Geographical Spread should do, so we can properly situate their comments, instead of pretending) I am a Southerner and a Christian).
Though as you would have observed, l do not judge "his person" but l am concerned with his "Actions and In-actions".

BTW: If you cannot muster or do not have "points/facts" to argue with, dont express your shallowness or ignorance by swearing profanities or insulting anyone here, it does not make make you appear intelligent nor aggressive, l am just appealing to your "gentlemanly-ness"  wink grin

@omotodun.
Sorry for replying late to your comment---I just woke up. You called the Bible the word of God; I say that is bullshit. The Bible was written by MEN, bigoted MEN. The Bible is riddled with contradictions and almost anyone can justify his or her action by quoting some isolated verse therein. God cannot inspire confusion! Wasn't it the white man who came and gave us Christianity and since we West Africans accept and believe anything the white man gives and tells us, we instantly abandoned our own beliefs and subscribed to theirs. As much as Nigerians believe in God, what positive changes have come to Nigeria? None. The Muslims also call their book the word of God(Allah). Whom should we believe? If you were born into a Muslim family, guess what, you'd be a Muslim who thinks that your beliefs are superior to others.
Nice try!
One thing l will never even attempt, is to discuss the Bible or Christian religion with anyone who professes that the Bible is FAKE!
No disrespect but there is just no "congruency or basis" for such discussion!

I just have to point out that you cannot allude Nigeria's problems to our belief in God/Bible!
Why?
Nigeria is not the only country with "management" problems that also believe in the Bible/God
Again, There are numerous countries who believe in the Bible (like us) and are yet, PROSPEROUS! America, Germany, Britain, e.t.c are examples!

Point is, believing in or not, in the Bible, has noting to do with where Nigeria is, today!
Our own problems stems from unbridled corruption! Finito!!

BTW: That "men" fall for the temptation of women, is only natural! Men were created to "love and adore" a woman so that the command that we should go and populate the world, could be fulfilled! Imagine if "women" where just an "object" that was designed not to catch the fancy of men? The attraction to Reproduce will be lost and procreation would even be unthinkable! Even Male chickens are know to "fight over their own babes"  grin , how much more we men, that were created IN THE IMAGE OF GOD?
Another reason why all the "homos and lesbies" need tohave a re-think of their "unnatural ways"!
Of-course, like you, they dont believe in any of God's purpose, as long as they satisfy their own selfish and depraved Urge!
Oouch!1 huh Now, l am looking for trouble with the last part! wink

Those kind of parents want the best for their kids but have ignorantly adopted the wrong approach grin
It may work at the end of the day (the End justifying the Means) but that still does not make it right or the "best option".
So, do you hate your parents for "beating you" or would you pour hot water on your parents for being too strict on you, in retrospect?
No you wont, except you are a lost cause grin

Politics › Re: Reducing The Population Pressure On Lagos by lastpage: 8:39pm On Jun 20, 2011
My Take:

There is no need to "force" anyone to relocate, just like the "forces" of demand and supply NATURALLY settles and gives equilibrium to price, so will a combination of "economic factors" like security, cost of accommodation, availability of job opportunities, taxation, availability of air and road networks,  will naturally decide where companies get localized and where people live!

Again, until we have "forward thinking and visionary" leaders (not those whose only reason for aspiring to office is to get rich quick and loot blindly), some of these simple yet very important milestones may not be achievable!
I THINK WE MAY IMPLODE SOMETIME NOT FAR OFF, if the current trend of lootocracy continues!.

Lets even assume it takes two years to re-pay a loan used to build a Light Rail and a fast Inter-State Rail System!
Lets even assume the government levies a #100/head (one family will pay an average of #500- #1,000) to contribute to the project!

I think it is still worth it, profitable,  shows foresight on the part of government and the people will appreciate it!

With regards to "moving around" the country, what we need to do is to "de-emphasize or completely expunge the STATE-OF-ORIGIN clause" in everything we do; from 'applications', to civil service jobs,  to any form of registration".
Every Nigerian is a Nigerian ANYWHERE and you have constitutional guarantee to live, work and establish livelihood and property as anyone else, irrespective of how long they2've been there or where their parents came from.

When we do this, people will have confidence to settle anywhere, knowing that the law protects and defends them! It will also hasten development in the hinterlands. Force is not required, just "enforcement" of regulations is all we need! wink

BTW: Just wondering, HOW MUCH did Fashola spend, to win a Second Term in office?

Just goes to show that "if you perform reasonably,  Nigerians are ready to TRUST YOU with their  future, Instead of trying to rig elections!

I hope other Guv'nors take a cue from this! wink

Business › Re: CBN Can't Sack Bank Chiefs Without Disclosure by lastpage: 11:44pm On Jun 18, 2011
I once asked the question: When Sanusi ordered the "Audit" of all the banks back then in 2009, why did he not wait till ALL THE BANKS have been audited (Unity Banks Audit wa snot yet done by then but some banks have been done) before going to the PRESS and pronouncing some banks, especially those controlled by Southerners, as inslovent?

How would he not encourage the rumor that "He has a hidden Agenda"?

And to make matters worse, he even appointed his Northern friends as Directors, in some of this bank .,.,.and they eventually dug the banks into a deeper hole?
Am not saying some of these Directors/Owners are saints (Ibru is a typical example) but why cant he just engender a level playing field and make everything transparent?
He reminds me of that crook called El Rufai and how he "privatized" our national assets like Nitel, to his friends at an under-valued amount!

Its only in Nigeria that these kind of things can happen and the perpetrators are walking scott-free, even boasting of being persecuted!

@Akanbi_edu
Can't believe people go through this because of visa. This is what happens when people would rather RUN to another man's land than face their problems. As if those people didn't have problems in the past that they stayed to solve.
^^^^^While l appreciate your contribution, l think its our usual style of "looking at things from the surface"!
I would be happier if you had asked: WHAT makes people to run to the foreign embassy instead of remaining in a land blessed with Oil and all the natural minerals one can think-of?

The ANSWER (which unfortunately is the DIFFERENCE between Nigeria and any other "Oyinbo" country) is EXCESSIVE CORRUPTION AND BAD LEADERSHIP!

In the late 60's and early 70's, when corruption was minimal and we had good leaders like Awolowo, Azikwe, Muritala, Gowon and a some others at Civil Service level, EVEN THE "WHITES" WERE TROOPING TO NIGERIA IN DROVES!
Even the missionaries were not left out or how/why did you think people like Father Slattery (St Finbarrs College) and all those foreign Principals of good schools of those days lived and died in Nigeria?
Thing is "humans" by nature will always move towards places where they could better themselves so, dont beef Nigerians going abroad; Its just natural and that itself is not the (or a) problem.

Imagine, if Nigeria could by some "magic", have stable power supply, good roads, decent hospitals and an appreciable level of security to life and property (whence Armed Police and military men dont wear Uniform in the daytime and turn armed robbers at night!), do you think "Abroad" will still have its attraction to like 95% of those living there? (Lets discount the 5% that would only feel "complete" when abroad grin)

Even as bad as Nigeria is, the current global recession still ensured that some "Crooked Oyinbos" (those who are themselves masters at corruption) are still trooping to Nigerian consulates abroad, to "queue" for Nigerian work and residence Visas! wink

Just the way it is, at least for now.
Travel › Re: Red Alert! American Embassy Abuja, Keep Away From The Asian Lady. by lastpage: 7:05pm On Jun 18, 2011
Now this thread really crack some ribs! grin

Concerning the Asian lady and "Asians in General",;
In the scheme of things, whether we like it or not, there will always be "race-race" grin
Kind of Race-Superiority-Race

And if Truth be told, The Caucasians are on-Top of the rung. wink
The Negroes (dark skinned) are at the Bottom of the rung! cry
Since we live in a dichotomous world, i.e, its either White or Black, The average Asian is neither White nor Black but wants to be seen and addressed as Caucasian!
Does, when they meet a "real Caucasian", they act sheepishly! (they know their levels)
But when they meet a Negroid, their natural instinct is to "act superior" by forming and posing! grin
They are desperate to prove to a Negroid that they are of "Superior Stock" and would try to frustrate any Negroid that as much as attempt to stand firm! wink
From my own experience, what a Caucasian HATES MOST ABOUT WE NIGERIANS (especially Nigerian Men!) is when we are better than them and "Lay it on the table" for them to see!
If you will notice, in a work place, the people that will get along with you mostly are the "Junior Whiteys" who are far down the rung, to you.
But those closer to your level are always miffed and very bitter, to imagine that a "darky" is their boss! grin

Reminds me that even after 3yrs, some White Americans cant still stomp it into their skull/brain, that "dark skin" is their President!
Thats why the Tea-Party still gathers a lot of followers even when its apparent that most of their leaders (Like Sarah Paln) are empty vessels with nothing to offer shocked

BTW: I never will blame all these peeps that look down of Nigerians (despite our class and swagger! When we are good, we are imply outstanding but when we turn out bad, dont even think about it, its a mess!). If we can, even by mistake, put our house in order, these petty jealousy will disappear like mist.,.,.,and the Caucasians know it too!

Just let it ride until you can do something about it, something really radical.
Sports › Re: Kanu Or Jay Jay : Who Was Bigger Player? by lastpage: 6:22pm On Jun 17, 2011
@dauchman
If i was asked who was a better player between the 2, then the answer would be Okocha.

But if i was asked who was more successful between the 2, then the answer would be Kanu.
Thanks very much for this summary! Its like asking you to choose between "Food and Water"!
You just need both to survive grin grin

We cannot fail to notice Kanu's "deft touches"! He could conjure a pass out of nothing! He is just brilliant!

Okocha on the other hand, was a Wizard! One of those rare talents that shows up once in a generation!
Just watching his as he "kolobi the round object" (like a true lover does) is simply magical

Now, l hope we can discover player(s) like one of this two (or better still both) in the next 20yrs!
Lets give both of them the respect they deserve, instead of this cantankerous comparison that only highlights their "downsides"!
