Politics › Re: Ajumobi Is An American, So Akala May Still Be Governor Of Oyo State by lastpage: 4:18am On May 22, 2011
@manny4life
@Lastpage, I know the question asked isn't about dual citizenship but owing allegiance to another nation; however, the Supreme Court did recognize complexities in this case; a true test will be how can you be a citizen of another country without "voluntarily acquiring and taking of allegiance of that country? I'm sure the justices performed legal test of reasoning, carefully weighed in on this opinion before concurring. If the owing allegiance depends on your dual nationality and it's clear that's ok to run for elected office(i.e. if you are a born-Nigerian), and justices sided with majority, then I honestly think the man in question is in the clear
The highlighted part refers:
You can be a citizen of another country without "voluntarily acquiring" (deliberate action on your part) and taking allegiance to that country THROUGH CITIZENSHIP BY BIRTH!
That is, when your parents giv birth to you in the US, for example. It is "AUTOMATIC". You have no say, not your problem, as a baby! wink

Having said that MOST PEOPLE are still missing the POINT!

This case has NOTHING to do with "dual citizenship".
It is legal and acceptable both in Nigeria and U.S. Lets not waste time on that angle please

The issue that is key in this argument is: The Nigerian constitution says: If you VOLUNTARILY ACQUIRE (Naturalization) CITIZENSHIP OF ANOTHER COUNTRY AND SWEAR ALLEGIANCE TO IT, YOU CANT BE A GOVERNOR IN NIGERIA.

The TEST is whether Ajumobi fulfills those "Red Areas" of my last paragraph!

NOTE: He has said that he did NOT acquire (Not an) American citizenship; just legal Residence.
In which case, he could not have sworn allegiance to another country!

Anything from the above claim, he will certainly have gone foul of the constitution.

As for others like Bukola, Ibori, Mark, Everyday for the thief, "Just one day" for the owner! About time! grin

Personal Opinion: I think the issue of conflict of interest is what the constitution (like hat of the U.S also) is trying to prevent!
No wonder these our political rulers dont give a darn about the country's development! They dont have "its interest" upper-mos in their heart!

Nuff said.

BTW: Ekt-bear, why do you result to vulgarity, so easily? Calm down naaah? huh

Dem sabi bastardize "resources" too much.

Remember when "GSM" came-in and the kin "instrument of promiscuity" it was turned into! grin

I was on my way home someday (after an I.T training session facilitated at Sheraton) and this woman was going-in with another man "for show" and we could all over-hear her telling the person on the other side of the line (probably her husband):

"Dear, you have to get me another job o, just look at all the work M.D laid out for me just now, when l was packing my bags to go home!

Then a small pause and she continues: No dear, l am just outside the office re-parking my car properly so l wont have to walk to the car park when l close late! (We all guessed the "maga husband" asked what-da-fck will all the car noise he was hearing! grin )

Well, we all used that to "ease the days stress" on our way home wink

Mostly, they use FB to re-connect with former Boy-Friends! wink

@Emmatok.
Going by your first post, if HE IS NOT A "NATURALIZED US CITIZEN", then NO STORY1 wink

Again, to your second post.

The issue is NOT ABOUT the legality of having DUAL CITIZENSHIP. That is perfectly legal.
The case you sighted is about "dual citizenship".

The issue here is a constitutional one and its about "Voluntary acquisition" of second citizenship and "Declaration of Allegiance" to another country.
Did you notice that the Governor's statements DID NOT CONTEST THAT ISSUE?
He simply DENIED THE TRUTH/FALSITY OF IT.

If truly he is not a US citizen, then the petition lacks grounds and would FAIL. END of Story.

Politics › Re: Ajumobi Is An American, So Akala May Still Be Governor Of Oyo State by lastpage: 1:01am On May 21, 2011
Let me add my own Two cents!

1.)Governor Ajumobi is a bona-fide Nigerian Citizen (BY BIRTH). His citizenship cannot be renounced!.

2.)When you "acquire" the citizenship of a foreign country (America in this case), YOU SWEAR AN OATH OF ALLEGIANCE TO THAT COUNTRY!
Anyone that has done this before knows that it is "the part" you go to do at a court. That is Clear.

3.) Right NOW, he has dual Citizenship: NIGERIA AND AMERICA. That is legal and acceptable in the Constitution. that is clear.

4.) Section 182 (1)(a) of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999. States inter-allia:

"No person shall be qualified for election to the office of governor of a state if; subject to the provision of 28 of this constitution, he has voluntarily acquired the citizenship of a country other than Nigeria or except in such cases as may be prescribed by the National Assembly, he has made a declaration of allegiance to such other country."

Take special note of the two phrases: *Shall not be Qualified*,.,.,.,.,, ,,,*VOLUNTARILY ACQUIRED. *

5.) Looking at (4) and (2) together:

- #4 says YOU CANT BE GOVERNOR “IF”
(a) You swear allegiance/make a declaration of allegiance to another country! Did Ajumobi do that? YES!.
(b) Voluntarily acquire the citizenship of another country! Did Ajumobi do that? YES!.

Now, this is not about whether our constitution allows dual citizenship (it does!), it only qualifies it by saying if you voluntarily acquire a second citizenship, YOU CANT BE GOVERNOR!

Again, if you can acquire that foreign citizenship “without swearing allegiance” to another country you are also in the clear!

(Citizenship acquired by BIRTH in NOT VOLUNTARY, you have no-say in it, as a baby and YOU DO NOT "SWEAR ANY ALLEGIANCE to acquire it! This is the "koko" we must take very good note of!)

Problem is that in almost ALL CASES of NATURALISATION, you will be required to “declare allegiance” to your new/second country.

I have only tried to clear the air of confusion, l have no interest in Ajumobi, “bleach-bleach” Ex-Governor not Oyo state.

If the letter of the law is applied, to the letter, unfortunately an painfully too, Ajumobi, the people’s choice, is a “gonner”!

My Two Cent!

This story is troubling, remembering that l traveled from Heathrow, around that time! Jesus Christ!!

Anyway, l am not concerned (now) that he chose to consider crashing the 747 coming to Nigeria but then, that was the flight he was "scheduled" to fly. If he was scheduled to fly to NewYork or Japan, l am sure he would have had the same thoughts about those flight.

Having said that, what bothers me is WHY this man, who spent all his life to train to the level of a Captain, has two children, suddenly became not only murderous but suicidal?

He said his marriage agreement  "stitched him up". That statement encompasses everything!
I know women in the West love the "Western" family laws and legal system as it gave them an unfair advantage over their husbands.
I know women in Nigeria feel they should also be entitled to such lop-sided laws, in Nigeria!

Thing is, "You cant eat your cake and have it". Everything in life has its own "Pros" and "Cons".

Almost on a daily basis,  You will read about a man murdering his wife (and children) and then committing suicide!
In ALL cases, the marriage is broken down and the woman Now decides to "teach him a lesson" by taking advantage of the lopsided laws!

Until the Western world decides to correct the "imbalances" in the marital/family laws, such senseless MURDERS would be the norm!

Laws which sought to destroy a man simply because he wants to get out of an abusive relationship; Laws which allow the woman to drive her husband out of the house using the Cops, take away the mans house and render him homeless simply because his wife does not want him anymore; Laws which make him work 24hours only for him to hand-over the money to his former wife, to enjoy with her new boyfriend; Laws which allow the woman to deprive the man, the company and love of children he pays child-support on; will only generate the "animal in the man".

I hope we all learn a lesson or two from such events. wink

(shakes head and waits for the first salvo from an enraged, nut-case woman grin )

@Eko Ile: Please tone down your language. I understand that you could have been miffed by the claims of some of your brothers that "Igbos developed Lagos". You did not agree with that position and that is your prerogative, as anyone else but lets keep it civil, at least for the sake of maturity and public decorum (I am not admonishing you in any way,.,.,. as you would soon find out. wink

First,let me say there is nothing wrong in "hoping" and "celebrating" in a nation where "good news" comes once in a blue moon!
Lets just hope it not an "empty, political promise".

I am Yoruba (Not Yorobo or Yurabo as some have mis-written! grin )
Some Igbos have been very livid at the comments by some none Igbo.
Some of those comments are actually very "unfriendly" but one of them, l find not just unfriendly BUT TRUTHFUL AND CHALLENGING!

I will enjoin my Igbo brothers to "meditate and reflect" on such comment, as l will quote below.
You may dislike the "commentator" but l besiege you to ignore him and "focus" on the comment itself.
Dont worry, l have no interest in taking sides, even though l am "Yorobo"  as some like to say! grin

When someone insults you and says you cant do something, dont get annoyed, JUST PROVE THEM WRONG and le your actions speak for you. These are words of my Grandparent that l still remember till today and l say same to my own kids.

Serious mode=

Are you people for real about this crappy random speech?

Abeg let's get serious here. How do you develop a region/Country? Don't you need plans, studies and road maps to follow?

The fact is GEJ can not do anything for anybody, maybe one or 2 pacifiers like one university here and some other federal project there, that's all he can do. For Nigeria or any part of Nigeria to see serious development, there's got to be a Marshall Plan with credible and non corrupt people from our business community, our universities to dedicated and hands on presidential officials with presidential mandate to get things done.

Nearly all the federal official in Abuja including GEJ's ministers are not interested in anything beyond attention to their pockets. We need serious soul searching and national re orientation by honest leaders, leaders that are definitely not what we have today

Abeg let's get real.
The above, as unpalatable as it sounds, could actually be true.
Anyone that knows "Poli-trick-cians, especially those from PDP, will take their words with a pinch of salt but l hope GEJ proves us all wrong.

I just don't get why ibo people just cannot
start developing their own communities like many states in Nigeria are doing, it's like they need the federal government for everything,
.

You claim you are business savvy, but your business acumen means nothing if it can not in any way transform your communities.

Are your business folks getting together to build airports, sea ports, trade zones, refineries? No. You need the federal government to spoon feed you everyday thing. It's like the east is void of people with vision and foresight,
but they'll beat chest everyday that they are the smartest people in Nigeria, they are jews, they are japan of Africa, the alpha and omega of every thing, but they still have to beg and crawl on the ground for everything. I just don't get it.

Kaduna is building a new city from scratch, Ogun and Ondo are building new ultra modern sea port, refineries, trade zones, Lagos is moving fast ahead as if the federal government doesn't even exist, but you have ibo people sitting on their hands waiting to be spoon fed like a day old baby.

ibo leaders are the most useless leaders in Nigeria, they suk politically, they lack vision, they are not proactive, they've brainwashed ibo people that nothing including their incompetency is not their fault and fingers must be pointed elsewhere outside their borders, it's like they are not responsible for anything, a sad and sorry situation that the general ibo public bought into, including their so called leaders of tomorrow sitting here on NL.

I wonder when you are going to sit up and ask yourself who is responsible for your destiny
.
I have highlighted "areas" that l think every Igbo man needs to focus on, in that statement (minus the parts typed in anger!)

Truth is always bitter my brother. Self preservation is the first law on earth!
No one will come and develop Igboland for Igbos, EXCEPT Igbos themselves commit themselves to it. HOW?

1.) Instead of pouring their wealth into Lagos, why not come together and solve the challenges faced in Igboland such that it can become business viable, like Lagos? Its funny if one leaves one's home and develops a neighbors compound, just because "property commands more value" in that neighbors compound! Igbos are very hard-working people but must set their priorities right.

Profit is good but at times, "sacrifice for the good of the land" is even better. WHat exactly is it that makes Lagos more attractive to an Igbo person, that he would forgo/forsake his own land?Someone rightly observed that "even though most Yoruba people in Igboland are professionals like Bankers, oil workers, averagely comfortable people but they dont build their mansions in Igboland (they Rent always!) but build it in the South West or Lagos, to be specific! WHY
Reason is they place a bigger emphasis on their land of origin, than wherever they find themselves.
Again, the value of a place is directly proportional to the level of social infrastructures there-in. The more houses/business you locate in a place, the more valuable it becomes.
Take Ogun State for example, land and business are locating there and it is gradually appreciating in value (from Alakuko/Sango Junction is Ogun state, up to lower Iju water works area) not because the FG said so but because the state itself is doing everything possible to welcome business and people! With all the companies in Sango, with all the new houses springing up there, with the number of people working in Lagos and building there due to cheaper land (compared to Lagos), with time, Ogun state will compare very well with Lagos.
Now the state Government (Ogun people) are building seaports, airports, power stations, e.t.c just to attract more people and investment to their state. Thisis how to "grow" your state! Mind you, it is not the "Hausa" people that are funding these projects neither is it the FG! It is th epeople of Ogun. Same goes for practically all the S.Western states.

Now, can the Igbo states adopt the same method?  YES.
The Governors of the Eastern state can come together and fund big projects that will attract people and business to the East. They can build power projects, Rail system, Business Parks, standard educational institutions such that no Alaigbo will want to school in Lagos or do an MBA at Unilag (Imagine how much will be saved by this alone?)

Ask yourself: Why is the Igbo person interested in Lagos? Its not because they are charitable or dont know its a "foreign location" (if l may say that)! Its because, as someone has pointed out, it provides the best "opportunity and value" for life and investment. Simple.

We are all Capitalist and Coys have relocated from Lagos to Accra, when the power situation and tax regime in Lagos became "unfriendly" to business owners. FI and when the East becomes "friendly" to business, no one will teach the "Yoruba man" to relocate his business to Aba or Enugu. Its simple logic.

Then, the question as pointed out by that "troublesome"  grin Eko-Ile is that:
1.)What are the Igbo leaders doing to make their part of the country "the bride of business and people"?
How have Igbo Governors developed the East, in the last  12years? Can you compare what Fashola has done/ is doing in Lagos, to what is done in any Eastern state? Imagine Lagos with Light Rail, its own stable power system, FTZ, fine-roads and so on, why would everyone not come to "bury" their money in Lagos, instead of Aba?

All l am saying is, dont take it "badly" (those criticisms and seeming insult), TAKE IT ON THE CHIN and CHANGE THE STATUS QUO.

The Igbo sons and daughters must commit more (if not all) of their resources into Igboland, to develop it and make it "desirable" instead of buying up the whole of Lagos and trying to lay claim to Lagos. What is not yours a-prori, can NEVER be yours, no matter the level of resources you pump-in, at best, YOU ARE AN "INVESTOR". Chikenna!

Same reason those "Yoruba bankers" in Onitsha "rent" rather than buy and build houses over there!
Sorry, its appalling but it is true!

BTW: I am not in anyway qualified to "advise" the Ndigbo community (I am too small to even dream of that) but as a "people" i appreciate and love, l think at times, it takes "an outsider" to really put things in perspective for us, a kind of mirror to see ourselves through!
If this annoys you, just ignore it and move on, it was written in good faith.
Cheers,
Lastpage.

This is a very serious matter and l would also take it seriously, as others have done but “me, being me, my son says l am a clown”! I will beg everyone’s indulgence to “add some humour” into the discussions. Let me start by quoting the Poster him/herself

@bylineby
I'm bored with my job at a local law firm. I want to do something else, but I am afraid that at 40, I am too old. Does anybody here know of somebody around that age who switched careers and still succeeded?
Key words and what l can deduce from them are as follows:
Boredom: Poster needs something more challenging, inspirational and fulfilling!
Question is fulfilling in what terms? Reward (Money)? Job Satisfaction?
(How about putting a few criminals, Agberos & Armed Robbers for example, in jail?
How about becoming a “voluntary human rights Lawyer" to fight the cases of the poor but oppressed people”? This could be very fulfilling because for each person whose cause you fight and save, you have saved a life and what could be better than that?

I have personally told my own family that l will enroll for a Law Degree when l am 50yrs old.
By then, “everything would have been settled" on the Maslow’s hierarchy of Needs, except “Esteem Needs”.
That would be fulfilment for me, then (Not now!).

Another thing which l think bothers the Poster is his/her age!
Well, at forty, almost no company will employ you as an “inexperienced staff or a fresh graduate”.
You just cant deliver the average “30yrs minimum working life-span” they expect from a fresh graduate.
Just go through all the vacancy advert and you will NEVER see a Fresh Graduate opening (which is what you could end-up being, if you went back to University to obtain a degree, say in Accounting/Engineering, e.t.c) with the age requirement over 28yrs! So, l understand how u feel., You feel too old and useless! grin shocked
What you need to do is to “leverage on your Law” background and use it to “consolidate” another related area.
For example, take a job in the legal department of a Bank, an Oil firm, and Accounting firm (while you study to be an Accountant, if you fancy Accountancy!) Lawyers are like I.T Specialist, you will “always” fit-in some other industry since they need such services.
How about applying to EFCC or any of the Armed Forces like Police (Eekee! shocked )

Be careful AT 40yrs, be calm, you cant afford a mistake at this age! Depending on the level of “Savings” that you have, l will suggest you set-up a Business, nurture it very well, when it is viable, that is the time to “go after your dreams”.

There is a Time to work/Sow, Another Time to Reap!
Now, let me go a bit comic!

@H$lbroker
Go into the world now and preach the gospel, you can't never be tired of abundant life of God in that service, and you can't be tired of the people you will demote from the kingdom of darkness to light of God.

God is calling you. Go and preach the gospel now. Start from today it's a command to you.
I guess you should have added that “Baba” has also promised a cheque deposit into his account, at the end of every month?
I know “Pastor-ship” is the most viable and most lucrative business in Nigeria but then, it takes some time to develop the level of “pimping dexterity” required to become a “successful pimper”! As a Lawyer (Liar!) though, you are a “natural” for that business!
Very good suggestion!

@dangerzone
Ofcourse you are still very young to be a professional pastor or national road safety chairman
By “National Road Safety Chairman”, do you mean “Chairman” as the “Up National” people call them at the B/Stops?
Well, this Lawyer may not have the kind of violent streak to become “Up Shairman” and moreover, the competition is very fierce now, with the kind of money involved. Well, start at the nearest B/Stop closest to your house and if the wahala too much, just go inside and lock your door! No more “Up Shairrrmaaan”.
@Buzeegee
Then the lord said 'my spirit will not struggle with humans forever, because they are flesh and blood. they will live 120 years. so all things being equal, if you eat healthy and do all the right things, you are supposed to live to 120 years old. this means you have 80 more years to go.
@Nimshi
Is it too late at 40? Probably not. Not to be morbid, life expectancy for Nigerian males is about 55 years; a career change could enhance life quality: it's not fun to be bored at40.
….
Well, Mr. Buzeegee, The Lord did not have Nigeria in mind when HE made this pronunciation, believe me.
By the Poster’s account, he “may” have lost a few years to boredom.
I think the Poster needs to “spike-up” his life.
Engage in a new Sport you have always wanted to try before now (I will not advise you to have a new sexy G-friend, as some have suggested, she may actually give you heart attack, if your heart cannot sustain the “excitement”!).
Life expectancy in Nigeria is very short and dedicating another 5years on acquiring a new degree (don’t even try medicine) for the purpose of securing a good job, as opposed to recreation, is not advisable! When will you use it to get promoted to managerial level sef?

@Akaraoku$
There is no rule that says you must work for someone all through your life. From your post ,it sounds you are thinking in the direction of getting another job somewhere which i think is not the best at this age but hey it is also not impossible depending on what a prospective employer wants….
The summary is that life begins at 40 and it is never too late to try something new!
Good talk joo. Think out of the box and try something for yourself.
How about starting with your own “local Chamber” and doing “charge & bail” for a start, to get some funds for maintenance while you wait for the “big criminals who have the money to pay”, for your experience? Think about it.

@deco2come
Ok, let's talk about something that happens for my backyard. One of the richest man in my hometown, at 47 still lives in one room apartment and sometimes ask friends and family money for food. But today, if you said the man is poor, what you mean is that he is worth 500million naira. My brother you need to see the this man's house. There are millions of stories like this.
Is your “Home Town” anywhere near “OKIJA or IJEBU”? I am not insinuating anything but if the man suddenly becomes a Billionaire, when he was still asking for Garri at 47yrs, l guess he must either be from those two places or have gone to Europe and won the “Lottery”!
Did l say all that? Ga-damn-mit, l should have kept my mouth shut!

@Sagamite
You need to highlight (1) what you have in mind that you want to change to and (2) what you think are your responsibilities and barriers (e.g. family sustenance, academic line/history, financial position etc) to be able to get any quality advice.
Thank you Sagamite, though most times, l dislike your comments!
This is a very wonderful contribution., especially that area that touched on “sustenance”.
Who will feed your family while you’re back “re-skilling”?
By the way Mr. Poster, did you develop your wife to that point which she could take over family responsibilities (on your behalf) while you find your feet again? But beware sha, some women will seize that period to “show you who is now the husband” of the house and you will wish you never changed career at 40+! Your whole life will change but you will learn a very good lesson about life and your spouse.
Wish you da best.

Rumor has it that the "Ara-Orun Egungun Association" of Lagos has decided to challenge Fashola in the courts.
According to their spokes-person (He insists he is not a "person" and should be properly addressed as "Irunmole" !), Fashola has no "Locus-standi", being an ordinary mortal, to make laws affecting Ara-Orun (Celestial characters! grin ) and by virtue of their own constitution (a copy of which he said is available in the great beyond! shocked ) "No Ara-orun maybe impeded by anyone, in the lawful conduct of their business"!

When further quizzed about the exact nature of their "business", he retorted rather angrily, "To chance women"! angry

When our Reporter pointed out to "it" that wearing the GARB does not make anyone supernatural, he took two steps backwards, made a deafening sound "Hooooaaawh" ,.,.,,  and our Reporter took to his heels! grin grin (That is a bad example of investigative journalism, l dare say!

Such is the legal battle that will now take place at the World Court in the Hague.
Rumor also has it that one of the Judges himself regularly "transforms" into an Egungun!
The Judge involved denied the accusations as baseless and said it was a calculated attempt to rubbish his family name and ancestors who are all christened as "Egunjobi"! huh

The whole brouhaha was further compounded when one "Ara-Orun" was sighted at Mr.Biggs cooling-off with a chilled bottle of Stout and Chicken-wings!
When our Reporter sought to know why he was eating our (human) food, he retorted that "Heaven" was much coooler than over-here on earth and he needed to "cool-down" his TEMPER-ature less he becomes too aggressive to humans!

That response stomped our Reporter and when he tried to "ask another question", Ara-Orun said his "Body Temperature" was suddenly over-loading like a failed Fukishima Reactor plant and "anything-can-happen"!
Of course, our Reporter sensed danger and diplomatically said he will "be back" soon! grin

If you disapprove of BRF's move to poke-his-nose in matters of Ara-Orun, please donate towards our legal fund!

If you "approve" sign your name and address below and one member of the Ara-Orun community would pay you a visit to "discuss and exchange ideas"!
Hoooawh,Uunnnnnh,  iwo tani yen?

BTW: Another unconfirmed rumor has it that the only reason Ghadafi has not being killed was that he is a staunch member of the Egungun-Ara Orun!. He is reputed to have said "The NATO Coalition cannot kill me" except they burn my "Ieyewuu", (the local name for the Garb that makes the transformation possible, a sort of Time Machine, first discovered in Lagos in the dark ages!)

More information would be posted here in due course wink.

For emphasis, this is the "link" l was referring to:
In May 2009, the TTC found an undisclosed buyer for the H5 and H6 cars, which would be used on a potential transit system in another unnamed jurisdiction. However, that potential buyer will not know until early 2010 whether it has the contract to construct and operate the new system. If the cars were sold to this potential buyer, the TTC could raise cash to offset the cost of the new subway cars that are being delivered since October 2010.
Please BRF, Dont waste money on this Junk, pls.
Spend money on the New ones, they are worth every penny spent.

After reading the 10pages of this thread, l have observed a few things.

1)Fashola should be applauded for even having the vision to "attempt" to give us Light Rail system in Lagos.
What are his likes in other states doing with their state allocations? Three Gbosa for BRF.

2.) Looking at the "trains" BRF is inspecting (in those NYSC Boots! grin ), the TRUTH is that they are VERY< VERY OLD FASHIONED. In fact, someone provided a link on page one (skyscrapper.com or so) which shows that the Canadians were praying that someone will be foolish enough to come and take the junk away. Forget the N.York Argument, America is known for good roads and solid cars, not an efficient and modern Rail system!

Please "Read" that provided link on page one, please do, for God's sake!

3.) I have seen Rail system (the fast ones that do over 500Km/hr) and l have seen "Lighter Rail or intra-city Rail" that commute between streets-to-streets. The Light Rails dont do over 35-50Km/hr.

I have provided a picture of both scenarios below. Both are in use ALL OVER EUROPE, especially very efficient ones in Germany, Netherlands, France, and Ireland.

My take is that, "IF WE MUST EAT A FROG, LET US EAT ONE WITH EGGS"!

We dont have to acquire the trains Canada "started with", 50yrs ago!. Lets us jump on the Bus in 2011.

We can link a place like Ireland (it was installed by a French Company) and under-study their Rail system or we can go direct to France.

We need a modern, efficient and sturdy Rail system (compare this to what the Chineese sold to OBJ, during his tenure and till today, they are still grounded! grin ) not one that will just pack-up after one year because we cant maintain it!

The Light Rail system is a brilliant idea and we must applaud BRF for it (Dont worry, just to "look and copy good things", takes a miracle in Nigeria wink )

BUT PLEASE BRF, DONT GO THE ROUTE OF OBJ, HIS CHINEESE RAIL ENGINES STILL LITTER THE PORTS AND THE RAIL YARD AT EBUTE-METTA!
They are non-starters.
ASK yourself: WHY are the Canadians doing away with it

PLEASE GOD, MAKE HIM LISTEN TO REASON!

Wetin, we are talking about "you-hit-me, l-hit-you, God no go vex" and some people are trying to "do it" from the backside, online! shocked shocked

Anyway, if you guys/babes would not go along with me, I WILL GO ALONG WITH Y'ALL! grin grin grin

@Pro1
Even the Bible says "harsh words" bring wrath, but "soft words" tame the hearts of (even) beasts". S-I-M-P-L-E-S indeed!
Now, this is WISDOM on the Celestial level! If we all adhere to this one-line principle, l guess divorce Lawyers will be out of job pronto?

i've never been forked up in my life (in spite of the fact that I've been in many dangerous situations) because I use my discretion at all times. I would never aggravate a stronger person/group to the extent of daring them to do their worst (no matter how 'right' I am}; empires have collapsed and entire generations have been wiped out due to such indiscretions. I'd simply charm the fury out of them and be on my way. Discretion floors valour each and every time. Women should use more of their discretion (assuming they have some).
You're obviously not a "Lagos dude" like we!
We get mouth pass women but we no dey fight sha o!

Business › Re: Refinery, Not Solution To Nigeria’s Oil Problem – Imf by lastpage: 1:19am On May 14, 2011
@ScotRogers of IMF
He based his argument on the fact that Nigerians are presently paying N65 for a litre of petrol whereas the same product goes for about N130 at the world market.
According to him, if all refineries are made to work as people have been canvassing for, the onus will still be on the owners of these refineries to decide whether to sell at the local price or take it outside the country to make more money.

I dont think Scot Rogers and his IMF goons are MAD, l think they take us (Yes, all Africans!) for FOOLS!

About Time we shove their silly and deceptive advise, up their "Peach-colored A*rse"! grin

If its not IMF, Its will be World Bank, or UN or ICC or NATO or Coalition or "International" Community or E.U! Wetin Sef? huh

NLC was f*ucked from the day Oshiomole and Reuben Abatti were reputed to have collected Bribe and Parcel of Land (at Abuja), from OBJ, to scuttle the incessant fuel price increase protest, back then.

It was OSHIOMOLE in prticular, that killed Nig. Labour Congress, just to advance his selfish interest in politics. End of story.

What we now have are opportunist masquerading as Labour Leaders.
Thats where lies the problem.

@Airtel Workers: Send a petition to the House of Rep/Senate, Follow it up with a Peaceful Protest at the Gates of the NASS.
Document the exploitations (Spy Cameras, et all) and let a TV station do a documentary with it. Give them a tough "negative Publicity" and you might swing public opinion in your favor.

Well, that is if you're not like the typical Nigerian that wants others o fight their battle for them while they stay at home seeping coffee grin wink
TV/Movies › Re: Sesame Street Makes Its Debut On Nta by lastpage: 1:13am On May 13, 2011
@maclatunji
@Lastpage, you meant Storyland with Jimi Solanke. Yeah! I agree, quality programme. Although the Fabu in those stories is at par with that in Ben 10 or Avatar. I guess local fabu is better than the imported one. The only thing that foreign cartoons have that our local children's programming don't have is some real science content embedded in them.
I hereby declare you FABULISTIC

For example, I did not imagine or ever think there was such a thing as liquid oxygen until I watched a particular episode of the Amazing Spider Man Cartoon were he was trying to get rid of a bomb he was handcuffed with. You will agree with me that the chances of learning that in any current Nigerian children's programme is next to zero. Funny thing is that millions of kids would have watched the same episode with me and would not have deduced that if Oxygen is a gas, it must surely have a liquid and dareIsay solid form. The only challenge to getting its solid state is the extremely cold temperature that would be required. And I was not even a science student.

Well, maybe what we need is a "good balance/mix" of local and foreign content.

Well, if we cant teach them "liquid oxygen", l bet we can teach them "local chemistry" of our traditional cures and palatives! wink
For example, there is a plant called "Agogogu" (Yorubas call it "Ogbe-Ori-Akuko, "Crown of Cuckoo's head"wink.
When the tongue of a few weeks old baby starts to develop this "whitish substance" (and the baby cries, loose appetite and feeds less), you pluck the leaf of this plant and squeeze the juice onto the baby's tongue! Voila, its gone, just like that!
In the West, they will use a whole bottle of "Glycerin" and it may not clear it completely/
Whats more, the plant is "organic" and freely growing, while Glycerin costs some bucks wink wink

So you see, "Science" IS EVERYWHERE but we chose to ignore ours. angry shocked huh
