NOETHNICITY: Nigerian Muslims demand an end to intimidation of muslim sisters by intolerant Christian fanatics who pick on muslim sisters at any given opportunity for no just cause. These christian extremists who cannot bear to see sisters proudly in hijab want to intimidate them and discourage others from this style of dressing.
The Nigeria constitution, which is superior to every other law in the country guarantees freedom of dressing for all, is very clear on this issue.
Similar provocation from these intolerant fanatics led to litigations which were decided in favor of muslims. These unnecessary provocations from intolerant christians are already on records. When muslims start now, dont come crying all over the place o #Justiceforfirdaus Which dirty 'justice' are you talking about? Has anyone been unjust to Firdaus? When she registered to study law at the university, was she NOT aware that the hijab was not part of court dressing, or that it was NOT acceptable as formal attire worn to the bar, by lawyers? What is she now trying to prove after spending 5 years studying law at university level and even in law school? Why didn't she raise these issues by going to court, to change the status quo before she finished from law school? If the Nigerian law guarantees freedom of dressing for all, then an adherent of traditional religion, who is also a practising lawyer, can as well wear his charm-encrusted outfit to court, as part of his brief to appear on behalf of a client. |

Bane2020: So you are telling me Ojukwu was at fault for taking the most rational measure to protect his people after the pogrom meted out on Igbos and other Easterners all over Nigeria? in his capacity as military governor of the Eastern region, and considering the circumstances that brought Gowon(a officer who was rather imposed on the nation by the North ahead of more senior officers), where you expecting Ojukwu as a soldier and human being to just ignore the fact that his people were no longer wanted in Nigeria after all the massacres... And just kiss Gowon's a.s.s ,remember the same Gowon reneged on the Aburi accord that gave more power to the regional governments with confederacy as the solution to the nation's friction. dude before you mitigate the essence of history... try use your brain and conscience, and put yourself in the place of Ojukwu... stop twisting history to suit your idiotic ego... Ojukwu wasn't perfect and had a part to play in the unfortunate Civil War that should have been avoided , but it will be hypocritical to claim Ojukwu caused the war, cause you and I would have probably done the same thing... You can't kill my people and expect us to sing One Nigeria... That's just unrealistic and obscenely idiotic. What rational decision did Ojukwu make? You call leading people into a war they could not win, and were not prepared for, a rational act? Guy, look up the meaning of the word 'rational' in the dictionary before you start opening your mouth wide. And like I told you before; go back and do your research! Gowon was not imposed on anybody. The people who should have taken over power like Ogundipe had declined, and left the scene. You are ill-informed and too egotistic to seek knowledge, that is why your comments are so illogical. Your people were led into a war that claimed their lives by an Oxford-trained general who was too self-centred and myopic to see beyond his selfish interest to rule the SE. As for Aburi, too many things have been said about it. Even if the Aburi accord was rejected, was that enough reason for your general to lead his people into a war that claimed 3 million souls of your people? Let us know, when you finish kissing Ojukwu's arse.... |

The President of the Nigeria Employer Consultative Forum (NECA), Mr. Larry E. Ettah, at a press conference, said, “The recent amendment of the land use charge law is a classic case of insensitivity, alienation and gross disregard of the current state of wellbeing of both corporate entities and residents.”
NECA hinted that the organised private sector (OPS) would do everything legal and legitimate; including social resistance, to challenge this “unfair and unjustifiable law.”
Also an anonymous resident said, “I have just received the land use charge notification for this year; it has gone up 450 per cent. I have looked at the basis for calculation and not only has the percentage rate increased from 0.394 to 0.761000, they have valued the house far in excess of its market value to maximise revenue,” the resident said.
“Who hikes taxes by 450 per cent with 11 days’ notice? To compound matters there’s a threat of penalty payments ranging from 125 per cent to 200 per cent of this bill if payment isn’t made between April and August. How on earth can we continue like this?” the resident asked.
According to the Coalition of Real Estate Investors and Surveyors in Lagos State, after its thorough analysis of the LUCL 2018, Owners-Occupiers are expected to pay a token percentage of 0.076 per cent of the value of the assessed property. https://breaking.com.ng/nigerianews2017/mixed-reactions-trail-lagos-new-land-use-charge-law/ |

The only way forward is for the invaders to return to wherever they came from, and our refugees be resettled on their farms. If the perpetrators of these crimes are not sanctioned, the brutalisation of Nigerian society would have gone beyond recovery.

HigherEd: Now this is a State with access to Federal Allocations, Igr from thousands of people and oil derivation saying fees are not sustainable at current levels. Yet someone would go and start trolling churches on top tithe that they don't pay. If Ondo can't successfully fund free education with all her resources then how do some of you expect same from churches who only receive free-will donations...
And yes I think Ondo should subsidize fees for her indigenes. Let's leave fee raise for private universities who don't enjoy assess to Tetfund, subvention and the likes. My other advise would be for State governments to leave the business of university education and adopt private universities instead just like the US Fed govt does.
Imagine Ondo adopting Elizade University alongside the owners which would help to crash out the fees at the university. The owners build the physical infrastructure while the State Govt can pay part of the recurrent wage bill. This would bring the tuition of Elizade drastically down for poor indigenes of Ondo. God forbid! Ondo state should not adopt Elizade University, or any private university. They will ruin it with their corrupt, archaic practices and bring the standard of education in such institutions, crashing down. They should stick to their state-owned universities, and try to salvage them. Let them remove the log in their own eyes, before attempting to remove the speck in the eyes of others. |

Cut the crap! People are NOT against the property tax. They are against the arbitrary abnormal increases in such property taxes. Afterall, Land Use Charge (LUC) did not start today. Contrary to speculation that Lagos State Government would also be hiking processing fee of motor vehicle particulars and that of number plates just as it introduced new Land Use Charge, the state government has disclosed that it has no plane to increase cost of motor documentation as claimed by unverified report.
Juts as it disassociated from rumors of increase in the cost of processing motor vehicle particulars and application for number plates, saying the rates remain the same across the State.
Through a statement issued by the State’s Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Kehinde Bamigbetan, it said that the clarification became necessary in response to enquiries by members of public who were genuinely concerned about on increases in charges relating to motor vehicle administration.
