I think, we all know that, she did not get to run in the Olympic finals by been a mediocre...we are just lamenting that, our best hope of getting a medal have been lost...and for us to have placed our hopes on her in the first place, tells you that, we did not think she is a pushover...

shymmex: Rome wasn't built in a day, and I believe everything happens in stages..

I still believe in the country and I know the 'wind of change' blowing around Africa will get to Nigeria soon..

The revolution will not be televised.
Agreed, Rome was not built in a day....but Rome was not stuck without direction or vision for 50yrs either....we are more than 50 yrs post-independence and it still appear we are building in the wrong direction....examples limited to the topic in question...Olympics:

1. 1992 Olympics; we won 0 Gold, 3 Silvers, 1 Bronze
2. 1996, " ; we won 2 Golds, 1 Silver, 3 Bronze
3. 2000, " ; we won 1 Gold, 2 Silvers, 0 Bronze
4. 2004, " ; we won 0 Gold, 0 Silver, 2 Bronze
5. 2008, " ; we won 0 Gold, 1 Silver, 3 Bronze

You saw the peak in 1996 and the diminishing returns that follow thereafter? If we keep the current space in London 2012, we will repeat the mediocre performance of Moscow 1980 were we won 0 Gold, 0 Silver and 0 Bronze...so which stage of this revolution that you talked about are we in now?

The more I have up beats about Nigeria's bright future, the more the realization of each day forces me to relish on our better yesterdays and conclude that, our better days are behind us.

Rossikk: Come on man, that's the NBA where teams are far more professional and evenly matched.

The Olympic spirit is... kinda different. Olympic sportsmen are representing their country as opposed to big money clubs etc, and ought not to be unduly embarrassed by national teams that are radically superior to theirs. If I were the US coach I'd have asked my boys to ease up once we hit a 40 point difference, and not go for 3s and stuff. But hey I guess it's their right to go for overkill, so.. no probs. cool
Easing off is more easy to do in soccer than in basketball, where each have a maximum if 24 seconds to possess the ball.

What you r essentially saying is that the US team should turnover the ball to the Nigeria team at the end of each 24 second possession and now run back to their net to defend the ball with a possibility on incurring a foul - or does your 'ease off' tirade extend to forbid the Nigerian team from making points or been aggressive?

Litmus: She is capable of winning gold, especial if she gets a good start, but i would be surprised if she comes away with any medal. The pressure of expectation may prove too much. She shouldn't have to carry the weight of expectation of a nation on her young, if admittedly broad shoulders.

BTW

Do we have a Ghanaian running for us? I state this because I came in late and just missed one of the men’s 100m heats. I could have sworn I saw an ubae- headed man, with stout belly and short bowlegs, in Nigerian livery, tearing speed in last place. undecided undecided

Mr. Globe:
why are folks underrating Lithuania. Lithuania is a basketballing nation. They have basketball the we have soccer in Nigeria. Even Argentina will face US pound for pound. Nigeria is just not in the mix. we are coming up. Even Angola will thrash Nigeria so don't have high hopes, we are in for a whooping today again. its non negotiable
Please note that, Nigeria defeated Lithuania last month in the qualifications.....I think the Nigeria team were a bit intimated in their game against the USA...Lithuania held the USA and allow them to get away with a narrow 99-94 win.

So on a good day, I will not count out the Nigeria team, but they must hold their heads high.

I cant imagine a Bsc or Hnd holder as a truck driver. Well I can only blame our leader for making him run a monopoly market and not providing jobs for our youths. After 4-5yrs in school, you den become a truck driver. Dangote is crazy. Nigeria is decaying gradually.
University graduates drive trunks and cabs in the US as well...in fact trunk drivers in the US makes a lot of money even more than their fellow graduates that works in an office setting.

Warrior X: Read the preview here, the guys want to win

http://nigerian-basketball..co.uk/2012/08/olympic-preview-nigeria-v-usa.html

Ike Diogu had this to say "We will not be intimidated by those guys," "A lot of us went to school in the U.S. and have played against those guys. We have no reason to feel overwhelmed."

Tony Skinn said

"I mean, listen, man, I've been playing ball for a long time," said Skinn, who was part of George Mason's improbable Final Four run in 2006. "At some point in time, I played against those guys or seen those guys play. A lot of us, obviously we're Nigerians, but we play in the States and I don't think we have that mentality to just come in the game and just, you know, get our (butts) whooped."
What do you expect them to say...that they will lose?

Various online news outlets are now reporting that the reserve goalkeeper for Cameroon female football team, representing the country in the London 2012 Olympics is 'missing'.

Before the games end, we will hear more stories about 'disappearances' and 'missing persons'....but how can someone leave his/her legal country, where he/she is free to strive and hide as an illegal in another country; where you will be living in constant fears from the authorities and in hiding and depending on people for your day to day functions....

My only consolation for dis story now is that, 9ja no carry 1st for dis one....but I know my people; we are not known to carry last....

This is a developing storyline....the count down has began..

pro01: The headline is very misleading, if not mischievous. It's just like saying that Alassane Ouattara is the 'President of West Africa' because he was elected as ECOWAS Chairman. Very senseless headline if you ask me. "First Lady of Africa" is as dumb as it gets. . .another miserable attempt to further impugn the poor woman's public image. President of the Africa First Ladies Peace Mission is not the same thing as 'First Lady of Africa', or is it?
What is the difference between 'First Lady of Africa' and 'First Lady of Nigeria'...?

They are both miss-normals. she have zero authority to represent Nigeria just like Africa.

What exactly do you mean by referring to her as 'poor'?...you meant poor in spirit or poor as in poor?

Christianity EtcRe: TB Joshua Edited Colorado Video Prophecy? by linearity: 4:28pm On Jul 22, 2012
wesley80: Give it a rest people. Yes I believe the prophecy was edited but definitely not with any intent to deceive. Here's a report on the prophecy by a Zimbabwean news site a day after the original prophecy.

Now I doubt anyone would edit a video with intent to deceive knowing the details are already in the open. And for those saying he got it wrong cos he mentioned a military man, what if you'd seen in a dream a man garbed in body armour, battle goggles, riot helmet and carryin both automatic and semi automatic weapons shooting at people? Hw wld u describe such a scene when you're awake? And about the barrack, well he said "in" or "close" to a barrack.
Finally, even if you can prove he got that little bit wrong, I believe its more foolish to dismiss all the others he got right as mere coincidences than it is to accept this as a "near accurate" prediction. So how foolish are you?
The problem actually is....'the little bits' that he got wrong are really what matters', that makes it specific....Yes,'the others he got right' can be mere coincidence, because on average there are about 20 mass shootings in the USA each year and they are all male and apart from some mass shootings that happens in barracks, majority of the rest are arrested alive...because of access to weapons on barracks, mass shooters in barracks are normally killed by military personnel nearby and not arrested...you can now see how 'a shooting in a barrack and arrested but not killed would have been a new normal and how that little bit of info is very vital'.... In a country of more than 300 million people and with every single one of those 300 millions having easy access to guns and magazines carrying upto 100 rounds, it is not uncommon for someone to gone mad either out frustration, bitterness, insanity, revenge, etc to walk into a public gathering and start shooting...

dedeike: So this kind thing fit happen for US? I thought its only in Nigeria. So there's a "Retardeen" in America too? So the gun show that Boko Haram exhibited in Yobe could be replicated in a more exclusive place like cinema? What happened to their intelligence unit? Where did the police go? Abi they no get SSS?

When i say that suicide killing is a peculiar challenge to any nation, many accuse us for making excuses for GEJ's" weakness".
But the truth remains that it can happen to any people. And theres little or nothing you can do about it.

There are no boundaries to terrorism and acts of terrorism. Yesterday, we saw it happen in Bulgarian shores against tourists. Today, we have seen it manifest in Colorado, US.
Rather than condemn and blame OBAMA for this disaster, Americans would rather prefer to condemn the attackers. They would not seek to score cheap political points on this senseless killing.
They respect the sanctity of human lives and wouldn't want to glorify the perpetrators of this evil by shifting blames to the president or govt.
I do not think anyone will condemn the President for this....Law enforcement is localized in the USA unlike in Nigeria and the Police responded within 90 second, take the suspect into custody and calm down the situation.

I doubt if incidents like these are preventable, there will always be a couple of insane people in the society, especially when that society is made of 100s of millions of people and that society pride's itself on its second amendment rights to bear arms. It is far easier to legally own guns in American than in the US, the problem is States have the final say about gun ownership...there are more relaxed laws in the west like Arizona and the farther you get to the East coast like New York & New Jersey, the laws become tighter but any citizen without felony and clean medical records can own a gun....the problem is the individual that medically sane today might not be the same tomorrow or two years down the road...

luluosas: So sad. RIP to the dead. On a serious note, I watched Emmanuel Tv this evening and I saw them replaying the prophecy the TB Joshua gave in June, 2012, to the nation of America, how a man will come to where people are gathered and will start shooting. He warned America to pray and specifically mentioned homeland security.
They then played the CNN breaking news of this disaster as the confirmation of the prophecy. Well, it has happened and I wish people and nations will pray next time when TB Joshua ask them to do so. What a sad news!
I do not want to burst your bubble, but mass shots is almost a yearly occurrence in the USA; such that prophesying that it will occur this year is like prophesying that it will rain this year.

It is very easy to obtain guns legally in the USA and in a country of 100s of millions of people, the law of statistic indicates that there is 100% chance of one or two people getting insane enough to work up people and start shooting.

would it not have been honourable to defend himself in court.
He must be one of those charge & bail lawyers who are scare of trial, they always advise their clients to settle the case before it goes to trial, because they are not confident of their chances....this is just a speculation though!

Jokes apart, his chances of prevailing on trial are slim to none...it is on court record that he was warned previously...to make a strong case, though not necessary...the judge can put the bailiff on the stand and that will sealed his fate. if found in contempt of court after trial, it will be reflected in his permanent records and might affect his career....or frog jump is a temporary discomfort, if he is too ashamed to return to that court to practice, he can relocate somewhere else to reduce the shame...but a contempt finding will follow him where he goes....so he made a good roll of the dice here.

How so? If the Court concludes that, they are in contempt of Court, the Judge can punish them either by fining the lawyer or sending them to jail in this case, the Judge gave them an option between jail and frog-jumping and they choose the later. I do not see any bases for any law suit here....

Yes, it is ridiculous and humiliating....there have been worst judgement passed by Judges in the US on citizens and lawyers are not a special class that should be sheltered from those ridiculous judgement.

The reality is Kunle might not be able to get that kind of job in Nigeria, becos employment at that lower strata might be congested by GCE holders or School drop-outs and employers that are looking for stability and want to pay the lowest possible wage in Nigeria, will see Kunle a graduate as a risk, they would not want to take. So if a secondary school drop can do the menial job and you can pay that person a lower salary and that individual is in a better position to appreciate the work and the salary and have a tendency to stay longer...there will be no need to consider Kunle for the position..

I think it is better to correct that impression by opening up to her about your earnings...

Else very soon, she might start nursing the notion that, you are not carrying your comparable share of the family financial responsibilities...she might not say it out loud...but working on the false impression of larger pay check, it is reasonable for her to conclude so in her mind.

Secondly, if she is the type that will lose respect or let go of you because you are earning lower than her, it is now at the infancy of the marriage that you have to know that but down the road when you guys have kids and since no condition is permanent and anyone can lose their job anytime...you do not want to wait until the time you would really need her help before finding out that, she is the type that would despise husbands who earn lower income or do not bring something to the table.

She is your wife, I do not see any advantage of keeping this from her...especially since your conscience have started to trouble you about it....follow you conscience and your heart.

Please enjoy these simple enhancements to our way of life, because if your goal for denying yourself of all these enhancements is ability not to be tracked, you are a dollar and a day short.

If you seriously do not want to be tracked, shut your phone, destroy it and throw it away and start using pay phones on the street corner and also unplug yourself from the internet.
HealthRe: Nigeria, Largest Market For Fake Drugs — NAFDAC by linearity: 7:17pm On Jul 18, 2012
What is the true definition of a counterfeit drug in Nigeria?

Is it drugs that did get NAFDAC approval b4 importation or clearance?

I think, if one import generic penadol, which cheaper than the brand name penadol and has been tested and approved by laboratory to contain the same chemical component of the brand name penadol, NAFDAC will seize them and term them as counterfeit drugs if one did not get the necessary approval or license from them..

So in many cases 'counterfeit' drug does not mean fake drug.
