I wouldn't bother trying to reason with certain people here. Boko Haram and other terrorist and not well meaning organisations are succeeding in their propaganda and turning people against each other.

There are thousands of soldiers in the North East fighting bravely, but no, base everything on a few terrorist edited videos.

The same soldiers will be there whatever political party is in power. The security services recruit from the populace. Maybe Nigerians should look in the mirror.

Where .... ?

Which L.G.A are been overrun by BHT, recently.
Here we go again
In America the love affair with the Military ended after WW2
In Vietnam the US ARMY in particular struggled with its core values and disciplinary issues , and drugs were rampant, Conscription became mandatory and even now every able bodied male is mandated to register with the ****.
In the US not a day goes by that African American Men and Hispanic MEN are likely to be subjected to some form of Rights violations.
Please stop idealizing America, If you argue with the Police and the Cop feels threatened they shoot to kill.
if you intend to visit America Don't behave like a typical NAIJA If you get stopped you could be placing your life in jeopardy.
for those suggesting NYSC should be posted to the NE in the conflict area it shows you how much they really understand the conflict.
It bears repeating :
One day this conflict will be over.

One of the revealing aspects is that some Nigerians as per their political views take a perverted sense of delight in setbacks of the Military.I have family and friends who fought in Liberia, Sierra Leone and now the NE.
One of whom I went to high school with and was KIA.@the time his wife was pregnant with their first child.
He never got home to see it.
People are entitled to their diverse views in terms of Political beliefs.
This BH war our girls and boys are fighting it is like no other war , Nigeria has fought.
One day this insurgency will be over and History will judge how far Nigerians have come .
This war will not end in attrition , because both sides are too far gone.
The price to end this war is going to be very high because both the Government of the day and its citizens are content that is settled in No man's land.
Just like America with the effects of the Civil War.This BH insurgency will shape the Military and define its doctrine for years to come.
Algeria went through this and learned painful bitter lessons.
Now arguably they are one of the strongest African nations .
Nigeria is still at the painful , bitter stage.

Ya. Mbombe does have a cage and standoff armour built into the design that is flush with the hull.
Looking at the pictures, I actually suspect the passenger compartment may have been more recessed and designed to be more deflective of even tandem, shaped charge RPG rounds than the competition although I have no evidence to support this.
How much do they cost?

Wats the importance of the comment section you screenmunch with the writeup ?
Sorry i was replying to prolog
At a certain point you are aware the soldiers are at least a mile to two miles behind the front lines ?
you are also aware that at this point they are using drones for aerial surveillance ?
you are also aware they have a tank with one in the chamber and are on red alert but they have look outs right ?
Let us not continually make derogatory comments about our soldiers because of recent setbacks.
Right now the NA have been fighting since Sunday/ Monday (December 3,4,and 5 Our boys have been fighting off/ on for 36+ hours straight off/ on @ Malamfotori.
Try working on your job for 36 hours off/on.
let us be considerate
we have our difference , we see when they fail because of social media, we only see the tip when they succeed,
there are at least two possible locations where heavy fighting is likely in the next few days.
May God be with these young men and women.

your rantings and ravings have put this young man in trouble.
if a soldier has grievances there is a proper way and channel to report to.
that channel is not on facebook. it is not on social media
unlike you that are a faceless warrior who never had a bullet whiz by his head, he signed up to join the ARMY
to protect people like you with his life.
Unlike you He does not get to walk away scot -free
The NA is not a democratic institution and you or him should not of put his face on this page.

I see a huge error in those pics, specifically the last one. Who blindfold children? Aren't they traumatized enough?
I don't think that should have been done.
And of course anyone with a better narrative as to why that was done, is free to share, without insults.
For Security reasons , the women who have been " rescued " are blindfolded , so that they will not give the location upon their release to bh terrorists.
some of them have been "married " to these bh going on two three years as a result their loyalty is suspect, they will be transported and debriefed, the last thing the NA wants is to facilitate an attack on one of its own fobs.

The CH3 got off to a wobbly start with the NAF .
It has been used since then to take out specific targets.
It also has been used as a teaching tool.
The current CAS and COAS believe in the future of both armed and unarmed drones.
In short the CH3 has influenced two of the top Generals in the Nigerian Armed Forces.

There are several.
Quite a few are privately held so they don't need to report their earnings to the Nigerian Stock Exchange.
Nigerian owned companies in the
$100M- $1B+
Dangote
Cocharis
GloCom
These three are in the $1-$10B range that are well known.
There are several in the $100M-$1B
Zenith
Forte oil.
Conco Oil.
Oando
These are the ones that easily come to mind due to their being listed on the NSE.

Rankings also don't include net centric warfare capability: Data links, C2 systems, Bluefor tracking systems, Satellite systems,Radio/communication systems, Radar systems ect ect...........This is where IMO South Africa has an advantage over most countries not just in Africa but in the world. Outside NATO(incl Japan and S.Korea who also use link 16), Russia, China and India, South Africa is the only other country that has developed and operates a defence wide tactical data link.
Don't be too sure about that.

So exams is one of the main reasons for promotion huh
Can a commodore still be in SBS or can one attain the level of Commodore from being in the SBS??
Yes it is a mandatory requirement regardless of where you are in the ranks
i can tell you it factually to get promoted from COL or its equivalent in the NAVY you have to sit and pass the exam , and then wait till you are called to get your One Star.
Foreign AffairsRe: Battle Field Discussion (picture/video) Of African Military . by LTGEN: 1:04am On Oct 23, 2018
joshingjosh:
Thanks for the explanation
Promotion in the NA is different from anywhere in the world
1) For (FORMAL) pass exam
2) Don't do "stupid stuff"
3) 15 years gets you to MAJOR/LT .COL
4) Peer review, comes into play small unit or not get your ass to jaji for junior officer's command
5) Col, is regarded as a senior officer ( NIG) again pass your exam/ get your ass to jaji
6) Brig . GEN : Pass exam , peer review, combat experience*, geographic balance, comes into play Once you are a GEN in NA you are a GEN
* TYB looks at this a lot
SSC OR DSSC is irrelevant

Passing SBS BOC-C can't be accomplished by someone afraid to die.
If that person escapes that, the next 10-12months of training will quickly strip the person naked.

SBS BOC-C is modeled like SEALs BUD/s with a touch of Nigerian flavor grin. You have heard the testimony of an officer here, these ones are as rough as crocodile hide.

Officers don't stay long because of career progression. What officer doesn't want to reach the pinnacle of his career (Admiralty)

The NA personnel that were trained by/with the SBS return to their parent units(NA SF or the likes) bringing their experience along
FACT
If you are in the NA and the individual fears life or death very unlikely in this current dispensation to make it past Major, current Military heirachy pays critical attention to COMBAT EXPERIENCE.

Generally only non-infantry soldiers gain weight after basics. Even then you certainly dont see anyone that out of shape.
There's no real end to the training cycle.
You can generally spot a infantry vet from the way they describe basic training compared to other units. Basics are mild compared to conventional training that follows.
Please stop rewriting History.
Hundreds of British Soldiers were deliberately starved to death due to the Japanese Army being unprepared for the unprecedented number of British Soldiers that surrender.
Usually I try not to comment but survivors have borne witness to the amount of food they were fed it had nothing to do with physical fitness.
The Korean war and it's aftermath again had nothing to do with physical fitness but :
1) The willingness of China to intervene and sacrifice hundreds of thousands of regular troops
2) Some of the poor decisions that were made by Gen Douglass MacArthur

If FG met their demand BHTs would not have executed Hauwa. This means they either stalled or just opted not to negotiate/pay ransome in this particular case.
BH was determined to execute her.
There is nothing that BH does that makes sense.
They defy logic as a terrorist group.
From executing their own leaders to going on suicidal attacks..
It was not a stalling tactic on the part of the FG.
BH in all likelihood wanted a HVT released.
This did not happen.
More likely the recent punishing airstikes that may have a killed a HVT.May have angered some demented followers.
Hence this is their response.
Don't expect any releases anytime soon.
Expect more heavy fighting and air strikes.
