You send them an email on the email address on the website and they will respond. They will give you an appointment date and the amount to pay. Ensure to pay at least 2 days to your appointment.

You should go with your evidence of payment and your international passport.

Depending on the crowd it is a 3 to 4 hour process. Expect to have a blood test, a chest x ray, consultation with a nurse and a doctor.

I wasn't expcting this, I applied on 05 July 2020, received biometric request letter on 06 July 2020. I received Medical Examination Instruction letter today, 24 July 2020. When I saw the mail this morning, I thought I have been denied, I avoided my account till I couldn't hold it anymore I had to check. I just applied 19 days ago, and my admission is for Winter 2021, I am hoping and praying this ends well.

You will need a co-sponsor o. You need at least 4M (10k) Cad as proof of funds along with extra funds for other things (books, flights etc). Please try and build up your account a little and look for a Sponsor too preferably a close family member.

Please I need your help in view of the latest update from IRCC on the two-stage study permit application. I want to detail my financial challenge as well as a breakdown of my sources of finance so that I can get some inputs from some of you as regards to my chances of getting a study permit.

I work with an international church organization based here in Nigeria with several businesses, academic institutions as well as churches scattered all over the country and some few countries abroad.

I spoke to an executive member of my organization and he has agreed that the organization would write me a sponsorship letter and release all associated documents because of my study permit application. Usually, the organization issues you with a study leave with pay and expect you to come back man continue work or you are issued a study leave without pay and you can come back if there is an opening for you.

In my own case, I would only be supported with at least N500,000 and the sponsorship letter and other documents with bank statement of at least 500 million. Secondly, one of my bosses is the country director and co-founder of an international organization based in the UK. I also want to use him as a sponsor and the organization’s documents and financial details will also be issued to me.

On my part I have about 2 Million Naira in my account, after tuition fee payment. Order financial documents that I have in my possession are my investment with a mortgage Department of my organization Which is about 1,000,000, my pension Savings which is about 1.2 million as well as my investment of about 500,000 and this funds can only be accessed when I resign.

Friends these are all I have as regards to my finance and sponsorship. And I intend to apply for the preliminary Study Permit for my program in fall 2020 which is online. Please I want you to know that I have already accepted the admission offer and have also gone ahead to enrol for my courses which does not require me paying the tuition yet.

Please what are your thoughts on my current situation?

NB: The name of my school is Simon Fraser University, Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada

Hi. Let me just try and add my two cents:
If you have paid your tuition already and have 2m left over that is on the small side. The CIC website says you should have at least 10,000k in your account as upkeep funds aside your tuition.
At current rates that’s about 4 million. Now Vancouver where your school is is the most expensive city to live in in Canada. I am not sure what your school indicated, but my admission letter from UBC indicated that I need 25k for living expenses rather than normal 10k. The visa officer will judge if you have enough funds based on what is in your admission letter.

Another problem area is your sponsorship. Please do not use any company or business where you work as a sponsor. The requirements for proving company sponsorship is too rigorous and most times they are still rejected. For instance, the VO will want to see:
1. letter supported by a board of directors resolution granting you a scholarship or a fellowship.

2. Company incorporation papers, evidently of the business the company is involved in, tax documents of the company.

3. Evidence that the directors signing the board resolution have access to the company account. This is usually in the form of a letter from the company’s bank identifying them as the signatory to the bank account.

In summary company sponsorship rarely succeeds.

If any of your bosses is willing, they can offer you a personal sponsorship. That means they will give you their own personal account not the company account. They can write that they are ready to take care of your upkeep with so and so amount. If at all possible they should transfer the pledged amount into your account and you point it out in your letter of explanation that so and so amount deposited in your account was from your sponsor and he has pledged to continue to support you with so and so amount until you are done.

A leave of absence with pay is a great option. Added to that is the fact that it is based on the condition that you will come back after the program. That takes care of the home tie. This can only work if the pay is good enough o. No VO will accept that after your program you will leave Canada and come back to Nigeria to a 100k job. If your pay is above 400k it may fly.

They do not accept medical report from government hospitals. There are only two hospitals in Nigeria from which CIC accept medical.
The update on your profile is the standard update everyone has when your application is submitted.
Usually the last thing they check is your medical. By the time they are requesting you to go for medical that means they are ready to give you a visa.
So until they have checked everything else and decided to give you a visa they will now send you a letter to go for medicals. Until then your profile will continue to read “you do not need a medical exam.”

Getting a Supervisor is like a project thesis on its own o. Even before you approach the Supervisor do your research thoroughly.
1. Go through the professor’s bio and profile. Note his research interests. Note what s/he is working on. If possible find one or two of his/her recent papers and jack them like if you are preparing for exam.
2. Your first e-mail must be well crafted and targeted to make you stand out. Give a brief history of your academic background and what led you to that field of study. Explain how your research led you to his previous paper and how you became interested in something s/he is working on. Explain your current research questions and if possible pick some questions left unanswered by his or her research or some way to further extend what he or she is working on.

E.g:
Dear Dr,
I am a so and so. I finished from ........university with ...........degree in ............ Since graduation I have worked as.........:.:. While doing .............I became interested in the field of ............:..::and began to investigate........... My research led me to your work on .................... I was especially intrigued by your paper on ..................as it led me to begin to wonder ................ and .............. and how it impacts....................

I am interested in doing some further research in ...............and would love to work with you as my supervisor.

Hello all, which one would you advise someone go for? A year masters program with unpaid Co-op, or the thesis option which is 20 months. Knowing fully well you'd gain Canadian experience with the Co-op but a year PGWP....

Co-op experience does not count as work experience for PR applications under EE. So are you certain you can sort yourself out within the 1 year PGWP to apply for PR? As in get a job and work long enough to gain points.

A thesis based masters is a better option. You may get TA position/funding and at least you have 3 years PGWP to sort yourself out.

Canadian system is graded on a 4 point average. So they are looking for a 3.0 out of 4. Nigerian GPA is graded on a 5 point average so what you have is a 3.2 out of 5. That is more like an average of C. But to be on a safer side google gpa conversion and see what your cgp translates to in a 4 point system.

I intend to start the online courses in Sept. But I just received information from my school that registration for courses has opened up but I won’t be allowed to register until they receive official copy from OAU. Hi. I hope you attached other evidence of his income? If he has a really good job as his main source of income it might not matter. But if the business is the source of a great part of his income then that’s a problem.

I seem to have heard of people attaching additional information by means of a web form or something like that. Maybe you should google that. Because I know for certain that they won’t ask you for any additional documents. They will judge your matter based on what you submitted. So google web form and see if it is applicable in your situation.

Or if you feel really strongly about it and can afford to, you may withdraw the application and re-apply.

Even Bossman Frank as you call him has complained about this new trend of not reading anything and asking questions.

The simple truth is that masters in Canada is extremely rigorous. Ask any current student that you know or call on any of the old monikers who are now there to give you a hint. You have to LOVE RESEARCH to succeed in your desired program. If not such a person will waste the enormous sums of money required to pursue this program.
It’s not like what we do here where we just coast through and “sort” our way out.

Anyway once again apologies to anyone who felt offended.

Most of us you see here answering questions are not agent’s neither are we professional student visa applicants. Every single thing I learnt about this process was from reading these threads.

First and foremost do your self a favor and stop checking indeed. That's where people mostly get jobs but dont for once think it's that straight forward. Kelowna is a larger city with more opportunities maybe but it doesn't necessarily mean anyone will find a job easily either. Both cities are relatively small and living expenses anywhere in BC is expensive. Rent and utilities will be a average of $550-700 a month. Also you'll still have to pay MSP(Medical service plan) of $75 monthly in BC. Lastly, if you are strictly skewed towards jobs then go to kelowna 100%. If you want a balanced conditions then Kamloops. Kamloops is small you can come in adapt and figure out the next move.

You don’t appear before the Canadian embassy. You either 1. submit your application for visa online along with all your documents (admission letter, evidence of funds including bank account statements, and a letter explaining everything about why you want to do this particular program and what you intend to benefit from it. This letter is called a Statement of purpose) or

2. Package all your documents (same as above) and physically drop them at their processing center either in Abuja or Lagos. The only thing you do at the processing center on your appointment day is give biometrics (finger print).

There’s no interview so you take care to package your application carefully to contain all your information.

Hello, my advice will be to apply to TRU MBA program. With your qualification you can get a direct MBA program that will cost you 30k. Another advice will be to enrol into a Business/accounting GRADUATE CERTIFICATE program. If you intend to come to TRU then you can take 8 prerequisite courses in Business administration post bac and switch to MBA the following year if you don't meet up or perhaps post bac Finance. Cheers.

P.S: switching from a post bac to MBA(that's if you dont quality directly into the MBA program which I doubt) will cost you more money.

Hello Qudkom, please I want to pick your brains a little. I notice you are in BC.
I have two admissions - one in UBCO (Kelowna) and the other in TRU. They cost about the same - roughly 18k for a two year masters.
I have been following job postings on indeed for some time to get a feel for the job opportunities in both towns, and it appears Kamloops has less opportunity than Kelowna, while Kelowna appears to be more expensive based off what I read online. What’s your opinion of the pros and cons of either school based on employment opportunities and affordability post degre?

Yes. I think having career plans to go into post secondary teaching may fly. The only other question is why a foreign degree? A master’s degree can be gotten as easily from a university in Nigeria and you go on into lecturing and research. What’s a degree from Canada going to do for you that you can’t get from Nigeria?

If it’s true that there are schools in Nigeria that pay even up to 600k, then I actually think targeting a very well paying international secondary school May equally fly. If he can come up with evidence that he has investigated a number of international schools, this is what they pay and he intends upon return to apply to these schools. He may argue that his foreign degree will give him an edge over locally trained competition.

Which admission do you recommend? What preparation should done towards the candidate visa? What other things should the candidate watch out for? Please evaluate the candidate profile and recommend as necessary. candidate is not fixed on Canada and willing to go to other countries with similar immigration profile like Canada if needed. Based on the experience I would say the masters in education is better. And many schools give some allowance for MA in education when you have a lot of experience. I think the tuition is a bit high sha. Some schools have tuition of about 8k to 9k per session for a master’s.
The only negative I can see is how to justify the expense based on the earning ability of teachers in Nigeria. A common reason for refusal is that there is limited opportunities for the field of study in Nigeria. Teachers are badly paid in Nigeria. I don’t think any teacher no matter the school can earn more than 2OOk per month How do you justify spending over 6 million Naira in order to come back to Nigeria to take a job that pays so little?
If the prospective applicant can justify the expense of the schooling by showing how it will greatly improve his earning capacity then education is better.

In my opinion I think the school fees receipt is important enough to warrant a web form. Your trade certificate is also also important though you can skip the WAEC.

Sending a web form I think depends on how important the document is. For instance if it is a critical document e.g proof of your finances or your SOP then you should send a web form. As for police clearance it is not one of the compulsory documents for student visa.
I don’t think sending a web form is a sign of desperation. And I don’t think the VO will request further documents if you omitted an important document. They will just evaluate your application based on your documents and if something critical was omitted then they reject the application. So if you feel the documents omitted are critical to your application then send a web form.
In your case especially since you don’t have much time as your resumption is sept, I would send a web form of any important document I have now so as not to cause any delays

An agent linked me to someone who works there and he is requesting for 15k so i can be part of the first people to do biometrics as they will be opening second or third week of july. Most likely there will be a rush when VAC opens. Since March when they suspended activities you can imagine the buildup of applicants who have been submitting online applications without being able to do biometrics,
as well as those who have been waiting because they prefer to do paper applications.

Trust Nigerian factor a lot of people will have made such payment as your agent is asking for to ensure their space. And no. Once you have paid for biometrics ordinarily you don’t need to pay any extra but given the special circumstances that’s why your guy is asking you to pay.

Total funds is 7m as I'll take care of my living expenses while my husband will take care of my tuition (as my co-sponsor). My own funds are spread in 3 accounts.

I will strongly advise against moving any funds close to when you apply as this may appear to be lump sum deposits in the eye of the V.O and I feel some of them may not be patient enough to trace where such lump sum is coming from.

What I did in my case was to print the statement account that I felt was the most solid. Then I got letters from the bank for the other accounts. The letter stated how long I have had account with them, who were the signatories to the accounts and the current balance. I then detailed the amounts I have in each account and total in my SOP. You can make it in form of a table if you like.

If your bank uses mybankticket for visa application you can get mybankticket for all three accounts. This will avoid making your proof of financial support document being too big. I think it’s better to show all three accounts than to be moving money suddenly and raising a red flag.

Hi. I think the problem here is lack of study progression. Perhaps they evaluate an HND as equal to a bachelors (I don’t know just hazarding a guess). So applying for another bachelor does not show much progression.

If you want to use iom, you need to send them an email. Their email address is on their website. They will respond to you with questions they need you to answer and give you an appointment date. You need to pay before going there and go with your original international passport and evidence of payment.
