Let me repeat In talking about Nollywood and not just individual films. You actually proved my point. How many of the actors or actresses you listed are not Yoruba? Igbo led Nollywood made careers of many and actually took most of Africa with it you can see Nigerians of many tribes and also Ghanaians that made it through Igbo led Hollywood and are household names because of it. It is actually those movies that Africans all over the continent identified with they took the actors as their own whether they were Igbo, Yoruba or Calabar.

I don't get why you are trying to deny that. It's fact. You did not see me mention any Igbo director or producer or anything about cast and crew.....Nollywood is an industry that's why. The careers of those that have gone through it is testament to that.

Just because it was not Yoruba led should not cause an issue in you. Also of the people you mentioned it is only Kunle I have really heard of.
Still on this?

I asked bigfrancis21 before to mention those works that have made igbo own Nollywood such that the contribution of non igbos becomes insignificant as you want the world to believe. ..

Nollywood is an industry that produces movies. . How do you talk about Nollywood without talking about individual movies? See where insincerity is taking you too? After I proved that movies with Igbo dominated cast and crew are of low quality compared to that of non igbos

Wtf! You still claiming those names above owe their careers to igbos? Wtf!! Are you really this dumb? So Femi Adebayo owes his appearances in yoruba movies like Jelili to Igbos? Pls mention the names of the Igbos who contributed to his career? It's one thing to claim and another to prove it

You disgusting fellows want to claim Ghanaians too shocked. Ghanaians who contribute to Nollywood
Igbos created careers of majid Michel, Nadia Buhari, Jackie Appiah grin grin grin
These folks made their careers in their countries and I must say, Ghanaian movies are of better quality than the Igbo dominated movies in nigeria. .

Of course you cannot mention any movie from an igbo producer with a dominated igbo cast because there are non of worth. You keep screaming igbo led Nollywood due to Quantity and the general position of Nigeria in Africa.. . Of all the movies igbo producers make you cannot mention any one of quality, anyone in the standard of the ones made by Lancelot Imasuen or Charles Novia. When you say Igbos created careers pls with which movie? Tell us the Igbo movie that created the career of anyone. That's how it is in Hollywood, when we speak of Will Smith we remember his appearance in the TV show Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, we speak Shai LaBeouf we speak of his appearances in the Transformers. So if you cannot name such movies then you have nothing to say, cus Nollywood is owned by all Nigeria - Igbos, Edos, Yoruba, Efik-Ibibio are giving significant contributions. It's only foolish igbos like yourself that claim Igbos lead or own nollywood, especially when the best movies in Nollywood are attached to non igbo personalities

You watch a movie today you forget it's title tomorrow... is that what you say you give Nollywood to own it?

Yes he is a great producer and director but how many careers have been created and maintained by his films? The people he has featured in those films have come up through Igbo led Nollywood and made their name and fanbase there? This does not take away from Kunle at all but he did not build an industry or acting careers of an industry. It is Igbo led Nollywood that saw interest from CNN on Nigerian movies and Africans from all over buying vcd's and recognising actors and actresses of Nigerian extraction. Those movies may have been rudimentary and may not have cost millions of dollars but they captured Africa and even the Caribbean. That was the effort in of a number of filmmakers, marketers and distribution outfits who were from the SE. They also had the insight to include non-Igbos and non Nigerians to ac
Half of a yellow sun is based on the book which is written by an Igbo woman which meant basically a ready made story and characters.
grin. grin. I even thought you were a sensible Igbo fellow.
you Igbos are so shameless and disgraceful... how you lie so comfortably
not only that but u love to show ur utter ignorance everywhere...

Kunle afolayan, Femi Adebayo, Kehinde Bankole all started with Yoruba movies. Bimbo Manuel picked fame with appearance in Tango with me ( a movie I'll start calling 'Yoruba movie' since any movie with an igbo dominated cast and crew is called "Igbo movie" and everyone of you feel OK with it, I see no reason why can't call "Tango with me" a Yoruba movie) and the TV series "Tinsel" (a Yoruba series, since the cast and crew is dominated by Yorubas)

Deola Sagoe began her acting career with the movie, and she did a damn good job playing the iconic Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti

Igbos are losers in filmmaking, normal human beings know that In Filmmaking Quality comes before Quantity but to an Igbo man lacking in common sense, Quantity comes first

No, well if people meant Igbo language movies that is what they would say. I'm talking about the Igbo led Nollywood and I think you are aware that is what I am talking about. Those movies that built careers and fanbases of Nollywood actors and actresses both in and outside Nigeria.
It is wrong to refer to a movie shot in english language with non igbo contributions, as "igbo movie"

The music industry cannot be run by Yorubas, because Igbos also run that industry. When your Wizkid and Davido release a music, they first of all have to go and prostrate for an Alaba marketer. Then the Igbo marketer will determine how far his music goes. How much money he generates, to even have enough to produce the next album. Yes endorsements are great, but when you are starting, your musci career is in the hands of an Igbo marketer somewhere.
Ask Dbanj, is he not singing, but Igbo Don Jazzy is gone, who will market his music? He probabl does not have a good rapport with the marketer.
So it is not enough to release your music on trace, and sign a few endorsements. You need the marketers to get that music into every home, so without the Igbos, there is no music industry.
Ask Flavour, PSquare, Tu Face, Phyno, and these days, most Yorubas add one or two Igbo words to their music, to make the Igbos willling to make them rich, or their career ends before it even begins. Kapish.
grin grin grin grin This oponu is talking of Alaba marketers that pay the yoruba land owners homage every morning
Go ask ladipo people what happened to them when they messed up

Anyway I doubt big players like Davido, D'banj, Wiz kid, Olamide, seyi shay etc need Alaba boys

But igbo artists don't just add one or two yoruba words, they bath their songs with yoruba lines

Igbos don't discredit others in Nollywood in fact they are welcoming. It is actually Yoruba's that named their movies as Yoruba movies and not simply Nollywood.

It is true though that when Nollywood became well known across Africa and carried all along from Genny to Ini to Mercy and the GH actors it was Igbo dominated....we all know. Does it mean other tribes are discredited? Of course not, but let us not deny facts.

It is supposed Igbo dominated Nollywood that was actually inclusive in a way that Yoruba and Hausa films never were.

Nollywood allows talent to shine no matter whether you are Igbo or even Nigerian or not.

I don't think any other tribe has any issue except Yoruba's because some seem to feel that Nigeria starts and ends with their tribe.
What brain do you have? So a movie is produced in yoruba language what do you call it? Spanish movies? Yoruba movies far surpass Igbo movies btw, when I say "igbo movies" I mean igbo language

We are not as senseless as igbos who like to call a movie shot in english "Igbo movie" jst because it is dominated by Igbo cast
If we were we should be calling Tango with me, Phone swap, October 1 etc Yoruba movies even though no or little yoruba was spoken

Coming from the veteran actor himself.

Veteran actor, Pete Edochie, has debunked the claim that Igbos have hijacked Nigeria's film industry, saying they actually own Nollywood.

Nollywood legend, Pete Edochie, has reacted to a statement credited to award-winning producer, Wale Adenuga of 'Super Story' fame that Igbos have hijacked the film industry, saying "comments are free but facts are sacred".

In the concluding part of this interview with VANGUARD, the bearded actor, who is more famous for his role as Okonkwo in the TV adaptation of late Chinua Achebe's classic, 'Things Fall Apart', said Nollywood is actually owned by Igbos and so couldn't have been 'hijacked' as claimed.

"People are free to say whatever they like, but a fact is a fact. Who make up Nollywood? The Igbos. Who started Nollywood? The Igbos. What are the films you remember most in Nollywood; 'Living in Bondage', which was produced by an Igbo man; 'Rituals', 'Igodo', 'Ebuka', among others. They were all produced by Igbo filmmakers. I featured in about 90 percent of these films", Mr. Edochie pointed out.

While acknowledging that "Yorubas have always done productions in Yoruba", the veteran actor said "the circulation of their films is limited".

According to him, "If you travel out of the shores of this country today, people would want to talk to you about the Igbo culture. They would talk about the huge bearded man with a red cap and a walking stick" in apparent reference to himself.

In self-adulation, Mr. Edochie added that "There are those who spend all their time trying to run other people down. But like I said, a fact is a fact. Whatever you say about me today, such comments don't bother me. I am the only actor that BBC has flown into Nigeria to interview, and that was because of my infectious professionalism".

To be honest in entertainment Igbo and Yoruba are linked. You can not talk about the careers of korede and Reekado without mentioning a non Yoruba behind their sound in Don Jazzy. Even Kiss Daniel he is known for Woju and laye which are his breakout songs. The producer of both tracks is DJ Coublon who is Igbo. I'm glad there is collaboration in music and movies between tribes but it seems the net warriors are yet to catch up.

After all's said and done, you keep following the 'stupid' one around like a fly. At least I have a die hard fan of mine.

For your information you have not made any so-called corrections. In your close-minded bigoted mind, you have failed to see the truth for what it is. Because of Nollywood's exclusive success, you find people trying so hard to attach themselves to Nollywood as if their life depends on it. I don't see Igbos meddling in the affairs of the Yoruba movie industry. Instead you have it the other way round. I've said this before, if you think you truly have a stake in Nollywood and are interested in knowing the so-called impact of Yorubawood in Nollywood, please let both movie industries split and let Nollywood stand alone and let us see if Nollywood would not wax even stronger. After all, Kannywood (Hausa speaking) is a standalone movie industry of its own. I don't see Hausas trying to meddle in the affairs of Nollywood or try to attach themselves to it. Or maybe when Igbo producers decide to stop featuring non-Igbo actors and actresses, then it would dawn on you who the true owners of Nollywood are. Isn't it funny how Desmond Elliot had to hide his Yoruba name to take part in Nollywood. Same for Ramsey Nouah.

"Nollwyood is solidly in the hands of Igbo business men known as the Alaba cartel". The New York Times. The international recognition Igbos need. The world indeed recognizes the true owners of Nollywood.

It is only in Nigeria where the truth is hidden due to bigoted tribal minds and selfish reasons. The true Nollywood story needs to be written and documented in the annals of time. Today, Nollywood is celebrated as a truly black success story in the US. In no time, I will be publishing a book on the Igbo success story of Nollywood with in-depth interviews and first-hand information gleaned from the runners of Nollywood such as Kenneth Nnebue, a book to stand the test of time, to transcend generations upon generations and for future Igbo generations to have a glimpse of this day and time.

Such story needs to be sold to the international world. Being in the US, getting together the right resources for my book would never be an issue. Finally, I would be sending a copy of this book to the Library of Congress, Washington DC, one of the largest collections of books and research materials from all over the world. I stand for the truth and that's what matters to me. You can remain in oblivion and keep playing the local gimmicks you think you're good at.
