Gamesmart: Your foolishness is poor.
If you were not daft, you would realise Lagos is Nigeria's commercial centre by a great mile and is the location of most Banks and financial activities the CBN is responsible for.
If you were not daft, you would realise sending staff to work away from home, paying for flights, hotels and per diem for weeks & months is a huge cost, drain on resources and a significant waste of public funds that could have gone into the education system and make you less daft!
I curse the God that put me in the same country as foools like you! E no go better for that God! so what is NNPC doing in Abuja? Is there oil well in Abuja? This your argument is flawed. If you're trying to decongest an office premises in Abuja, you can decongest it to another state, not Lagos that is choked. CBN can actually make a legislation to mandate banks to build a mini head office in Abuja for close monitoring and inspection. With time everyone will align. |

blaise26abj: If they pick one up now , people will say they are wasting resources when they have sparsely populated offices in the state . If the management decides to send some of the staff there , good ! Nigeria saves money instead of acquiring a new building
Nowhere did I imply they have only one building. That particular building is congested . That’s my point . but Lagos is also congested. How do we intend to develop other states in the federation when we keep sitting govt offices in Lagos. Aside the seat of govt. Other govt parastatals should be sited close to the source of raw materials. That's the only way this argument makes sense. |

Ironbull: Honestly it so annoying turning everything to tribalism. When the Federal capital was moved from Lagos to Abuja then it wasn't tribalism but now just splitting over-populated govt office is now tribalism.
Anyone not please with the move can resign and go to his hometown where only angels lives there. Lagos is the smallest state in Nigeria by landmass, and has this mammoth population. Don't you think the FCT is better as the capital. More so, no country builds its capital close to the sea, it's for military reason. Abuja is more like the centre of Nigeria. |

nairalanda1:

If you were a businessman, and you were selling yam you bought from farmer at N1500 per tuber, will you sell that same tuber at N200 per tuber to help the poor breathe? To help the masses breathe?
You will not, because your business will die.
Dangote needs to pay salaries(at the rate that his workers would not jakpa), pay taxes, pay for crude at international prices, pay for maintenance costs, etc etc. Expecting him to do all that and then sell fuel at N200 per liter because of the masses is a big joke.
Businesses are not charities. They exist to make profits, and to make more profits. They do not care about the masses, because if they let the masses set their prices, they would crash. If the masses were allowed to set MTN and Airtel prices, they would crash well well.
Hopefully, it would reduce the pressure on dollars, and hopefully this means the cost of transporting fuel falls. But the era of cheap fuel is over. NNPC is even now a private company self.
The funny thing is people will call me oppressor now. Ok. If a business cannot set its prices, how would it make profit for shareholders and workers? Shebi government go pay am? Lol. if Buhari is the president, will you give this warped analysis? |

Biodun556: If the price of fuel does not decrease then government budget and minimum wage will go up and all of us will adjust to the new pricing so what exactly is the benefit. This will only make inflation static, reduce the purchasing power of people and make the naira useless. Under full capacity, the price of fuel should be adjusted locally to #300 that's the meaningful thing to do. |

Faiththatworks: Kaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii......... Asiwaju is really firing on all cylinders,I doff my heart to Mr Cardoso and the whole Economic Team of the President. This was one of the comments I made on another thread about the leadership of our Former president and Mr Emi werey. Despite all the rail guards to forestall any pilfering of resources in the CBN,the former president, baba Buhari was aloof and allowed the CBN governor run riot. I believe Asiwaju should go the whole hog and go after politically exposed person in the former president tenure who put their hands in the cookie Jar, especially those who profited from the racketeering in the CBN. Mr President is doing very very very well, this is the first time I have seen a president implement the recommendation of an investigative panel in quick time, many other Former presidents would have form committees to review the panel and eventually push the recommendation of the panel to the shelf to gather dust in the office of Mr Former Attorney-General. I believe most of these panels and recommendations were used to blackmail political exposed persons that's why most of the recommendation were never implemented. Pls this is just a speculation oooooo. Asiwaju should please use this opportunity to revisit the recommendation of the Orosanye panel and the CONFAB recommendation under President Jonathan, I'm sure No one will go against him if he decides to implement it God bless Nigeria. when fuel equals #160 per litre I will buy this your sermon. |

AbuAeesha: That shouldn't be an excuse to display wares along express, jeopardizing other people's safety by congesting the road. If a vehicle lost control now,it will crush those traders immediately. So those displaying their wares along the express are putting their own lifes and the lifes of motorists in danger just because they want to make ends. Sure, things are quite hards recently, but that shouldn't be an excuse. I hope you understand? Sir, chill. Let's say the traders are very stubborn. But ponder on this. Can they afford to rent a shop? If no, what alternative has the govt provided for them poor traders to sell and fend from? Back in the days we had open kiosks in every market for these traders to sell. Markets are built at far distance from the road. It's your govt and it's official that will build very close to the roads just to make more money. The city plan is designed just to make money and not look beautiful. Don't blame the poor who are trying to survive. |

Golan007: The presidency can do nothing about an erring governor.
You can pholosophise over it, yet it doesn't change the fact. when the president does well and the economy is vibrant, no one cares about the governors. No matter how effective a governor performs, once the president kills the economy, his effort is futile. |

Would you have allowed Buhari sanction Ugwuanyi without turning it to a tribal war?
Go and sleep. the governors are misbehaving because the national leadership is doing worst. The governors have very little policies that affect the citizens, the bulk is on the table of the president. Inflation, fuel, power, security etc. What influence does the governor have in controlling inflation and economic stability? |
Politics › Re: A VERY VERY Wrong Time To Be An Adult In Nigeria by Mandate1: 4:23pm On Jan 06, 2024 |
Kenn55: Why should you let the president off the hook here? The degradation of Nigeria is primarily the fault of the president. To be fair to Tinubu, he wasn't the one that destroyed it as it started before him but he has contributed to bury it. The major items that controls the health and viability of the country rests on the FG. The president presides over the monetary and fiscal policies which sets the tone for the economy which affects the states. CBN though independent reports to the president. When naira depreciates due to stupid policies that gives rise to inflation, it is not on the governors.
The president controls the police, army, dss and the entire security architecture etc. Not the governors. When farmers can't farm because of the massacre by terrorists in the middle belt which now leads to higher food prices, the fault is more on the president than governors cos governors don't control the armed forces. I can go on and on.
Unfortunately, our structure is the cause of this deep problems. We copied democracy from the west but applied it the wrong way due to greed. If we practiced true federalism then the governors would have more of the blame. Now they are hiding under the FG cos the FG is too powerful. In the west like Canada and US, each state or province function like an independent country and in charge of its economy. No sharing of money from FG, it is the state that contributes money to the FG. The resources in each state is used for the state so every state is forced to develop it's own unique economy. In Nigeria, the states are useless cos there is oil money to be shared every month.
I'm not saying the governors are doing well, in fact, they are useless but as per your argument, the president shares the biggest blame in the current situation. I buy your supposition in totality. |
