Food › Re: The Chicken I Bought 6500 - Good Or Bad Bargain? by Mandate1: 9:02pm On Dec 03, 2023 |
Nazgul: You can't buy a full chicken for N6,500. Unless it died and the owner wanted to sell it off urgently.
The presence of the head, leg and liver shows that it was either slaughtered or it recently just died cos frozen chickens don't come with heads, feet or liver.
Currently, 1 kilo of the smallest chicken lap (4pieces) is 4k. Two kilos would be 8k. This chicken you're claiming to buy for N6,500 is way over 3 kilos.
And if you must know, live broiler is 14k. The biggest size...So either you tell us the story behind how you bought a full chicken for such amount, or you stop lying to our faces.
Most of the people here saying it's a wonderful deal haven't bought chicken in months (or even years) I bought a live chicken 2 weeks ago for 14k with abeg, and bought 2kilos of chicken laps just yesterday. So I know how much these things are sold. most of the things you see here are all lies. I wonder whr he bought that from. |
Politics › Re: Cost Of Living In Nigeria Is Cheaper Than UK Or US by Mandate1: 8:15pm On Dec 03, 2023 |
psalmsjob: I'm posting this as a response to the topic that made Nairaland front page yesterday; "See What Someone Bought With An Hour Minimum Wage In The UK £10", the link: https://www.nairaland.com/7929193/see-what-someone-bought-hour
UK & US ARE OVER-RATED NIGERIA IS STILL BETTER in terms of cost of living see a practical example why doing a price comparison: 1 pound to 1 naira today is N1,001 so are you saying with £10 x N1,001 = N10,001 you cannot buy everything in that basket and collect change in Nigeria today?
1 Sliced Bread = N800 2 Spaghetti = N1400 1 Gesha = N600 1 live chicken = N3,000 1 75cl soya Oil = N1,400 1 Midium size Butter = N600 2 Gino Tomato paste = N1,000
Total = N8,800 so your change is N1,200 that's if you exchange pound to naira at offical rate and buying at the most expensive stores or high brands. If you exchange at black market rate and buy at public market "days" you will collect as much as N6,000 after buying everything in that basket....that's about £6 left.
LET'S JUST THANK GOD FOR WHAT WE HAVE AND STOP LOOKING AT AND GLORIFYING ANOTHER MAN'S LAND MORE THAN OUR OWN....OUR OWN NA OUR OWN O why are you lying to urself? The meat alone is more than 10k in Nigeria. That meat is more than 3kilos, how much is a kilo of turkey meat in Nigeria. A kilo of turkey meat is just 3 pieces. How many pieces do you have there? |

I got 40,000mah, oraimo powerbank for 30k, and it's the worst thing I've ever bought in my entire life. I complained in their office and was offered another replacement. The replacement is even worst than what I bought abinitio. The brand oraimo to me is a waste of money. |

Kukutenla: It is obvious that a lot of people supporting LASG on this matter have never bought land in Lagos. Most lands bought in Lagos are purchased from Omo oniles or developers. Govt does not sell land to anyone. It is after you buy land and get your deed of ownership or right of ownership that you reach out to the govt land ministry for CofO or building approval. In the Old Oyo state, what late Bola Ige did was that any new area had masterplans which were easily obtainable from the town planning agency or the LG offices. So before you purchase land, you go to the LG or town planning to obtain the masterplan at little cost. There's nothing like that in Lagos. If all those zombies supporting the govt have any sense, they should put pressure on LASG to have a website where all the masterplan for Lagos is uploaded so people can have access to it and will only require the services of a surveyor to interpret it for them. All this one that after people finish building someone will come and say the place is marked for drainage is just wickedness. I watched the video and i did not see any built drainage. If it is planned, how come such info is not available until almost 50 units of houses are already built? There is huge corruption in Lagos land usage and allocation. It needs to be swept clean instead of blaming the victims or turning it to a tribal matter. u spoke well. I still wonder why citizens have little or no access to this vital land information. |

How many constitutions do we have in this country? Let the constitution of Nigeria be amended to prevent non indigenes from acquiring land then. That Tinubu is president today doesn't mean power will remain with Yorubas forever. It's transient and must be administered with caution. Every Nigerian whose grandmother or father is a Nigerian has the fundamental right to own and acquire properties legitimately in any part of Nigeria. Tinubu is not the first Yoruba man to lead Nigeria. I'm perturbed at this level of hate being spread over the media, and the govt is not doing anything to curb it. |

myrates: What's your own truth? If you love one more than others, you must have gotten results of their DNA. even among your close friends you sure do have a preference. It's natural for parents to have a preferred child of choice from the rest, even Jesus had a special inclination for Peter. This by no means suppose he doesn't love others. They are all loved equally. The only challenge is making it obvious or spilling it out to the rest of the kids. A class teacher will have a preferred student among the rest. I was once a class teacher at both primary and secondary level, this is a fact no one can deny from. |

lecoeur: While growing up, sometimes my father takes me out with him and during those times he teaches me certain things that a man should know. Thing is, something happened I can't recall but that thing made him tell me he preferred my younger brother to me (We are 3 boys tho), I even noticed it because he took him out more and bought things for him. I was this kid that's so quite, reserved and always on my own and he never liked that. On the other note, my brother is very agressive have this agbero type of behaviour lol. My dad fell ill and I took care of him both at home and in the hospital to the point of his death I was with him, I didn't take what he said to heart and he never apologized but I did all that because I loved him very much, I saw him as a hero, even the person that he preferred wasn't interested in taking care of him as much as I was. I totally forgot about this whole thing until this my younger Bro accused my Mom of been bias towards him which is true but as the first and oldest son I always stand for him whenever that happens because I know how it feels. Please I urge present and future parents to do better with hiding or avoiding this favourite child thing, it's not really ohk. it's natural phenomenon for parents to have a favourite among their kids. Saying it out to you wasn't the best though. But through actions you ought to know. Certain traits make the father or mother like a child more, this doesn't mean they don't like others, they do, but nature makes it that way. Even a teacher prefers one particular student than the rest. Jesus chose Peter, but that doesn't mean he doesn't like the rest. I'm glad you lived above your Dad's statement. |

When the diaspora invest and succeed, it gives other foreign investors confidence to also invest.
This past election left a bitter taste and has drastically reduced diaspora remittances.
The only thing Nigeria can do it to elect a good transparent leader that will restructure and open up the economy while actively engaging the diaspora to come home to invest. dem Don elect Tinubu, see everything going gaga. |

In the US.. People don't line up from the Passport office to the express because they are waiting for Passport... some Americans don't even know the process of collecting a passport... so they have low turn up population requesting for passport... so that means.. it will be easy for the few dat need it you actually think Nigerians travel more than Americans? I don't think any country travels more than America. No country in the world you won't find a US citizen. |

Athena6: Last week I created a thread talking about how my japa plans have been crushed due to the increase in dollar.
Many adviced me to invest in dollar, this was the advice they gave me months ago but I did follow through because I wasn't sure. My last thread hit front page and 90% of the comments were advising me to invest in dollars, one even quoted that in the past 10 years, the dollar haven't fallen but it increases every year.
One even called me a weak minded person and I am scared to take risks. After everything I thought to myself, since so many people felt this dollar will keep on rising, maybe I should invest afterall life is all about risks.
Well guess what, dollar have decreased, I invested 3M in buying dollars and now in today exchange rate. I have 2.6M now and I either cash out now or hope it will increase.
Right now, I am very angry. Those giving me advice should come and contribute the 400k for me o
Another thing, do you think the dollar will increase or should I just cut my loses. I am so tired 😫 unless the govt will renege in its floating policy as it's doing now. Dollar will rise again. Nigeria is not a production economy. |
