It's not so. Most soldiers always want to use force to their advantage. I recently had an business encounter with a military man and he actually cheated me, on top of it all, he has threatened to beat me up over a matter of legitimate business. We are in the wake of a soldier killing his girlfriend for unconfirmed infidelity. If everyone use their jobs to oppress others, then who will remain on earth? The poison seller, mortuary attendant as well as sawmillers that cuts big trees in the forest with chain saws all have jobs, you know. Bunch of uncivilized barbarians these soldiers are.

In the best interest of Nigerians citizens, I think everyone should boycott doing any business with the military folks. It always end in tears and they end up bullying you with their resources. Don't sell market to them. Avoid them when they come to your shop.

Those of you saying that Nigeria won't do well storing it's citizens data on a foreign soil, have you thought of the one already in private hands? This NIN of a thing has been contracted to private business, ( as if that's worth worrying about, when a foreign company handles passport issuance in the diaspora) hence, the physical record of phone number and other details of all the people of a local government are already in one guy's hands. If a mercenary wants that information, he will just download the NIN registration centers all around the country and extract the information at a price. We are already compromised.

Most Nigerians who are sympathetic with Twitter today don't know how much of an insult this comment is to even them.
They see Buhari as the target here but there are two elements in this insult.
Twitter says they don't know President Buhari.
But they didn't stop there.
They also added that they don't know the country he is leading. In other words they don't know Nigeria.

Twitter is brazenly saying they don't know Africas most populous nation and the country with the highest concentration of black people in the world. Twitter is brazenly saying they don't know a country where over 11 billion dollars of their revenue comes from with over 40 million subscribers.


Some years ago Pastor Chris Oyakhilome chose to use twitter to communicate some prayer information to Christ Embassy members worldwide.
Within few weeks Pastor Chris broke the records of having the most amount of followers within such a short period.

In their arrogance, Twitter called Pastor Chris' twitter account to question and described the followership as bogus.

Simply put, Twitter believed that nobody from a place like Nigeria had enough clout to garner such followership within such a short time - a feat that no Hollywood star was able to achieve -.

Pastor Chris wasn't prepared for their drama, he pulled out of twitter and challenged his church tech people to design a platform that the church can use. That's what gave birth to Yookos.

Today Yookos is a formidable competitor with Twitter so much so that ex President Barack Obama acknowledged the giant strides made by the platform within such a short time after it was launched.

Eventually twitter confirmed Pastor Chris' account and "apologized" but it was too late.
Pastor Chris had moved his huge followership into Yookos.

Several years later Twitter is saying that they don't know the country that the same Pastor Chris comes from.
That's arrogance taken too far.

Any Nigerian who tolerates this insult is just a self hating sychophant.

In all honesty, to critically adjudge the matter, Twitter messed up by challenging the sovereignty of a nation they are paying no tax to. They could delete Trump's tweet, but the US government knows what it gets from Twitter and other big tech yearly, so they can look the other way at a price.
The APC led administration did the right thing by pulling the plugs on the app, as a lesson that no one should have absolute power. Moreso, after crypto currency was banned by this same Buhari, even some other developed countries have either frowned at the payment system or either banned it outrightly, showing that some of these decisions are not in isolation.
But what the government could have done is to challenge young Nigerians to create a platform that can beat Twitter in a little time and have everyone encouraged to migrate to it, for the sake of patriotism. Nigerian youths love a little bit of challenge, and they will deliver wonderfully in little time
This is where Oshibanjo could have been useful, as he is a diplomat. I see someone in Buhari's government migrating to K00 already (why is K00 sensored on Nairaland?), the Indian based Twitter spin-off. Apparently, the people in power are not do smart.
