it's better to do with to be on the safe side. but i have someone, a young chap who refused to do it. He is into tech and was already working for tech companies in Nigeria and abroad even while in his final year. he felt nysc was a waste of his time and he was right afterall. he is based abroad now and doing super good for himself. I earn slightly above what the OP mentioned, but believe you me, it's not been easy. If you live in Lagos, Abuja or PH and you are married with kids, you will understand. A 2 bedroom flat in an average neighborhood is over 700K. Cost of fuel and car maintenance is over 60/70K monthly in recent times. School fees for 2/3 children is over 200K per term (600/800K annually). Feeding takes over 100K monthly. Utilities and other miscellaneous dey ooo. Best thing na just to save enough and japa.

I’ve always looked the youngest in my circles all my life. I’m currently in my mid thirties, working class, married with a kid and doing very well for myself. Well, thanks. My ears are fairly tuned and my music sense is a bit refined (apologies for the hype ). Perhaps one reason why Africa Giant did better than this current album is the heavy sampling of the afro-beat. And although he did the same in this very same album, I feel the features are too much, some songs shouldn't have made the album.

He's good, I give him that but the album pales on comparison to the African Giant album.

So yes, I’ll say Burna was intentional about this album hence the minimal inclusion of so many Afro beats, he wants the Grammy and this album gives him a better chance of getting it. As much as I respect ur opinion, I don’t agree with it. This album was made to appeal to a cross section of fans all over the world which is why you might not find it as appealing as African Giant. But in all fairness, there are a number of afro beats in Twice as Tall.... I no fit vex, comma, onyeka, 23 and Wetin Dey Sup are good examples even though he infused some Patois in those tracks which is the typical Burna.
Finally I’d say this was a standard album, not just a collection of single hits and some other songs haphazardly put together, TAT takes you on a journey from start to finish, it’s such an alluring story that leaves you thinking when it’s finished

I started opening up to certain songs until recently.

Burna Boy got the art work and possibly the name right - as a sequel to the "African Giant" album but the truth is, the album failed to trump the previous. African Giant carries more weight than TAT.

I love the fact that he is slowly becoming a political voice and Ama Ata Aido's sampling in "Monsters You Made" is simply divine. I listened to the song time and time again with a level of ANGST. As an African, you won't listen to that song and feel the same except if the meaning flies above one's head.

You see "Bank on It", that song for me is the "Twice as Tall" album! I have played that song an unhealthy amount of times. I catch the ghetto/cultism/gangster references in the song but I can't deny the fact that the song is a beauty. "Bank on It" is my best song in the album.

You sound very well informed about music and apparently you’ve got taste, I’m however wondering why despite all of that, you don’t agree that Twice as Tall is Burna’s best body of work yet. I’ll put it to you that it is. The issue an average Nigerian will have with it is how it has no typical ‘naija hit’.... but that was a quality body of work. I’ve seen the hold marijuana has over my friends from way back in the university, I might have womanized and being a bit of an alcoholic but I stood my ground to never do weed, I was introduced endlessly but I didn’t. I’ve even limited my alcohol to the barest minimum. All I needed was a brief but intense illness, I saw my life flash before my very eyes then I decided to cut down greatly on alcohol. Many of these my guys are now well placed in the society but still battling the weed addiction. One almost lost his job recently as branch manager of a very big bank. He gets to work very early, locks himself in one unused office and smokes away. Another colleague who was new came early and met him right there, she panicked and told another colleague and that was it. Took Gods intervention to give him a second chance. The irony of this all is that some ppl having seen this thread will still decide to try weed. Don’t even start it, that’s the key. I hear how some ppl go on and on about the health benefits of marijuana and all, it may be used for some healthy products but that type has gone through lots of refining as opposed to the raw and direct one widely used. Stop justifying nonsense and get yourself a better life. Something you can’t confidently do in public is not worth it afterall
