350k per month is nothing. That is the cost of your house rent per month in Canada for an average house I.e like 2 bed flat. Hope they are making more than that Sha because that is very very very low. Like just over a thousand dollars per month.

My two bedroom basement apartment, fully furnished, is more than N350k per month. What is he talking about?

I even read one saying "people in abroad dey suffer" grin grin and I can't just stop laughing grin grin

Take the 15million, do my MSC, learn French till I'm perfect then upgrade my skillset to something hot and in demand in Canada...then apply for express entry with remaining 10 million and leave naija for pdp, apc and all other useless politicians

Don you need to be told that collecting the N15m will strings attached to it, like living the rest of your life in Nigeria, or do you think they'll just give you the money just like that grin?

All those people saying they'll collect and still relocate didn't think of it in that way. It'll ofcourse have T & C, which possibly will include staying back to develop 9ja.

Even in Canada, you must stay 3 years otherwise they won't renew your PR at expiration.

I live in Canada and won't choose a 100 million over Canada. You need to leave Nigeria to know you live in a jungle. I have seen MTN and Bank managers who left naija to start afresh here.

What's 15m? Upgrade your thoughts please.

What they didn't realize is that N15m compares to nothing with the kind of live they'll live in Canada. Yes, I'm also in Canada and know what I'm talking about.

You see, the problem with an average Nigerian is that they think once they have the money all their problems are gone. But how can you have N15m and still be breathing generator fumes and be spending hours in traffic, why can't you build your own road and NEPA?

Talking about the N15m self, that's less than what you'll get as a full time student with the Ontario Student Assistant Program (OSAP) loan and grants.

With OSAP, you'll get as high as $28k times two for a two year course, or times four for a four years course. $20k is a grant and 8k is loan. Which means you're getting 40k free for two years or 80k free for 4 years, with added knowledge and qualifications.

And in applying and getting osap, you'll do everything in the comfort of your bedroom. You don't need to know nor have any connections with anybody. As a matter of fact, not even a single call is needed to be made. Just submit all the right documents online.

Now, tell me, which one would you prefer?

There are many places outside Lagos.. So you think only LUTH and St. Nicholas gives right diagnosis and treatment abi?
Even here in Canada people die; Nigerian trained doctors practice here and Waiting time nor be for joke..
In essence, try and put things in perspective before going off on medical treatment in Nigeria vis-a-vis hospitals

Is there anywhere in the world where people don't die? We just like to deceive ourselves as Nigerians. If our Nigeria was so that good in the first place why are we going through all the stress of living in another man's land, with even some taking the risk of travelling through the desert. We just like to glorify what is not. We are crying that we don't have a system talkless of it working.

Oya, tell me, where in Nigeria do you have the best of medic care? Yes, Nigerians doctors are practising in Canada, the kind of facilities and environment they have in Canada, do they have it in Nigeria?

After we have struggled to attain the PR status finish we now make it look as if it doesn't worth it afterall. How dare anyone compare? Abeg

This right here is very low. The man is obviously not a poor fellow who can't afford good medical care for his kids even in Nigeria so why raise the issue of death? if his kids have terminal illness (God forbid) it's pretty certain he won't leave them in Nigeria while he stays abroad, he will want them to be close to him. I don't know why you thought of that scenero but his reaction is predictable if that's the case. You don't need to argue on everything

Medical treatment in Nigeria is not about ONLY money sir. Yes, I can tell you that for free, that it isn't about JUST whether or not you have the money but the right treatment.

Is it not in Nigeria they use malaria drugs to treat cancer? If you can't get the best of treatment at LUTH or St. Nicolas, pray, tell me, where else does one turn toif not celestial church of Christi grin

Yes, you heard me right, I said St Nicolas. And I said that with all sense of responsibility.

Afonjas firing on all cylinders. This was a man that rescued Nigerians from South Africa, of which 50-70% of them were Yorubas. SMH

Igbos/Biafrans, read replies to my post and see what afonjas are saying; calling this same man that rescued them criminal, thief, fraudster, same thing they called Innoson during his trial, only for the court to rule in his favor. In fact the court said GTB is the criminal/thief and should pay Innoson his money!

Is it still afonja at play...in 2019, now that the US has indicted him? We are so myopically tribalistic and clannish, and it's part of what has stunted our growth as a nation.

While we continue to play politics, side with APC and PDP, we all live with the consequences of our naivety, docility and stupidity...... and gradually we all head to the grave without experiencing what living really means.

Nigeria is the dump of God’s rejects.

Now we all move one and say wait till 2023. In 2023 we will say wait till 2027... then 2031 and the cycle continues.

I'm commenting on this forum for the first time after a while, since June that I left 9ja for Canada, and your comment "without experiencing what living really means" actually dragged me out.

Yes, we have not, at least my generation, experienced what living really means in that part of the world.

If you have millions and still living in Lagos in particular, I choose my words carefully, you haven't experienced what living really means. I know because I've tasted the two sides of the divide...the world's capital of poverty and the best place to live on earth...Nigeria and Canada

Taking a break from work and thought of putting down some random stuff from my experience here so far.
First of all, I'm really grateful for these two stores: Dollarama and No Frills!!! Ha, they've saved my POF from taking an unnecessary big dip!
Also thankful for google maps/TTC bus schedule/route combo.

And for the awesome deals on Facebook marketplace, will come in handy when I get mt own place.

In other news, HR at work (a Nigerian by the way, nice lady) today called me aside to advise me against using strong perfumes. I'm like, I didn't even spray much today, I can hardly perceive it on my body. She says noo, people here can have allergies, some offices don't even allow staff to wear scents. I'm shook.

It snowed for the first time (I think) in Toronto today. It was light, but quite cold.

Okay, back to work.

Yes, that's one thing every new comers should learn, a..d learn fast. Here in Canada, it is scent free work environment, and you don't even need it anyway. Wetin dey smell for your body in the first place? It isn't that stressful that'll make you sweat to the extent of smelling.

Should have been sold in Naira to a foreigner in the UK right, just like crude oil is also sold in naira in the international market? Wise up bro. It's not everything you criticise for criticism sake. It makes more economic sense to sell in foreign currency than local currency in international trade.

In public service, you should learn to blend your performance with politics. If you use only politics in public service, you'll fail. If you use only performance in public service, you'll fail.

It is this man's stupidity arresting Gokada, Max and Oride bikes that has made Oride, Max Okada and others go as far as Abia, Ondo, Oyo, Ogun and other states.

Lagos is seeking to attract investment and they won't allow one strongheaded technocrat who has never created a single job in his life come and disrupt a burgeoning industry.

Did you read the part where it was said that their continued operation is against the law? So, why make the law in the first place when you know that yu don't intend for it to be obeyed? This is the reason we are where we are today. No respect for laid down rules and regulations, everybody is just flexing muscles.

One of the biggest problem I think Nigerian has is unnecessary conclusion and general stupidity of the masses.

Don't blame the masses too much, even though they too don't use their sense, but heap the whole blame on our sensational newspapers and journalists ẹ.g. The Punch, and Vanguard News Paper. They were the first to go to town with that sensational headline for economic reason. There's no name I was not given and called on their discussion platform when I made same submission as yours here.

How can you label a whole tribe for the alleged crime of a few? ‍♂️

Like I always say, there are more riffraffs on Nigeria's Social Media space, in suit and tie, than you have in the motor parks and garages in Nigeria combined.

Hello Guys,

Have a little concern, I am 5th of March AOR and my application will be 6 months by 5th September.
I intend resigning from my office by the end of this month July, decision was made because my employer is aware of my application for canada PR and he has already hired my replacement to handover.
I also want to take the remaining time prior to my application approval to start preparing for my NCA licensing exam in canada being in a regulated profession.

My question: Is it ok for me to resign before getting PPR, I hope it wont affect my application.
I intend raising a CSE to inform CIC immediately i resign with explanations.
And I already have over 5 years of working experience which makes me eligible Pre ITA and Post AOR.

thanks.

First and foremost, why were you that careless that your employer get to know before PPR. This kind thing, na after PPR person dey let the dog out of the bag, when you already know say CoPR don sure. Anyway, nothing do you. Just maintain your champion. You no need to IRCC anything. Are they monitoring your life ni?

Even though when they give you PPR, it is clearly written in the letter that you don't take irreversible decisions like resignation from job, buying airline tickets and all that. But the fact is that, there's a 99.9% chance that you'll be given the CoPR once you get the PPR.

Another thing is, if you're very sure of all your documents, that if when they even call for an ADR you'll and can conviniently produce it without bathing an eyelid, you're good to go brother.

Just concentrate on whatever it is you want to do here that will make life easier for you here, even though it is easy already, except you dey find what Yorùbá call "bẹ́kun-bẹ́kún"

My one cent opinion
