Hi guys, my husband is my sponsor for my master program and he lives in USA. My question is will that be a disadvantage in getting the visa/study permit with a US base statement of account/sponsor? I’m about to submit my application with cic. Pls I need your advice. Thanks
His statement of account will only cover the aspect of funding, but as we all know, there are other things that are involved in securing TRV e.g hometie, personal asset, purpose of visit (if your intended program is related to your previous one or present job), e.t.c.
Try to fix every other aspects of your application as well.
To your question, yes a statement of account from US, Canada will convince the VO that fund will be readily available for your studies when it's time

My cousin got admitted for Master degree in HRM UofR -- Last year

Submitted application December 7th 2019
pre-medical document was uploaded.
Not sure why they are requesting for medical today.
Tell your cousin to send the receipt/proof of his/her medical to CIC immediately and let them know the medical has been done already. Congratulations in advance

Hello Gurus,
I re-applied fir study permit last year November 13th but my status still says that my application is still under review (Background Check and Eligibility). The resumption date for the school has passed. I had to reapply to the school, same program. I have been reaccepted with the same student id number. My question is, should I send the new acceptance letter to CIC through webform so that they can update it on my profile/ application?
Please i need ur advise.
Yes you can send the updated offer letter to CIC to let them know of the new development, though even if you don't send it to them they will ask when they get to the stage where it is needed.

Hello house, well-done and may God grant our heart desire . please i want my parents last born to study in Canada, precisely memorial cos of its cheap tuition And I have already submitted her online application for undergraduate degree program in memorial University , I have sent her waec confirmation, transcript and proof of English proficiency collected from her secondary school . Please the issue I have now is that they mail me to her test of English test score of either IELTS or TOEFL , I have read from this group that , since Nigeria is considered as English spoken country. , So a letter should be issue from her secondary school to cover up the IELTS , TOEFL , which we did . Please your candid advise will be highly appreciated .
Not all schools waive it for Nigerians and I think MUN doesn't do that for undergraduate students. Try to talk to them and explain that English language is the language of instruction back in Nigeria (though they are aware of that already) and you will like them to waive the IELTS/TOEFL score for your sibling(I doubt if they will accept though but no harm in trying).
They will be in a better position to assist you

Good Morning Everyone.

Please does anybody know about AMD TRAVELS Canada? Their office is at Lekki.
Someone refered me to them. I want t know if they re genuine or not. One cant just trust all these agencies.
Please anybody with useful information will go a long way.

Thank you.
No agency can guarantee you trv, so authentic or not all they will do is what you can do yourself if you read up previous pages of this part. The only difference if you use them is to get to pathways with huge sums of money(all in the name of agent fee). If you have time, I will advise you do it yourself. Feel free to ask specific questions here and someone will definitely attend to it. Also, read from page 1 -10 or 20 of this part and you will have around 90% of the information you seek.
NB: The decision you is yours to make though.
As for registered agencies, kindly check CIC's to know those recognized by them. If you use any other they will apply like you did it yourself (not using the representative form)

Please what is the next stage. Please help me, I don't want this admission letter to waste because I paid for it.
Welcome. Try to read from the 1st page to 10th and you should have enough information to start your application process. Feel free to come back and ask specific questions after reading the pages mentioned above. Good luck

Hi guys, while I was going through the thread I saw something that caught my eye and it was about changing course when your visa is delayed.

So my question is.. are you saying it’s wrong for someone who applied for logistics and supply chain management in fanshawe college and got his/her visa delayed the first time to reapply with admission letter for MBA from another university ?
There's nothing to worry about, just make sure your new application is well packaged. Change of course/program is no big deal

Thanks for your prompt response,

@Vibrant99.
i want to believ if there is a ban it would have been stated in the refusal letter or seen on the Gcms note. This refusal was in 2018.
However i would love inputs on how to cover/tackle the “documents lack authenticity part” bearing in mind that he wants to reapply with genuine documents and available funds covering the cost of study.
If there are links to the rules that will reduce his chances, kindly share.
Since he wasn't placed on ban then there's nothing to worry about. Let him apply with the genuine papers this time

If he needs you to give him proof to believe or to do what's legit then he has a big problem and the best way for him to find out is for him to apply let's see how it goes. People like him are the ones making things more difficult than they are already are for genuine applicants .
Just tell him the best proof he needs is to apply and wait for CIC's response.

I must commend the gurus in the house for thier selflessness.
@all persons with experience on similar issue i want to discuss below kindly help provide probable advice and solution:
My cousin applied through an agent for a student visa to canada in 2018. I got to know this after the denial.

Documents submitted are as follows:
His admission was for PGC project management, georgian college.
All the completed forms,
All used and unused visa stamp(3 south Africa, Uk, kenya, france)
Marriage certificate
His personal SOA with reasonable cash flow,
Schorlaship letter from Ministry of Finance
Statement of account from the Ministry of Finance(Not forged)
Letter of introduction from the Ministry stating the funds awarded and the payment modalities,
However, as stated in the introduction letter, a 40% payment was transfered into his account from this Ministry’s account which was also indicated in his personal account. It was aswell addressed in the letter of explanation.

( I must expressly state that the whole schorlaship thing was cooked up to make believe that it was actually awarded)

Even with all, he was still denied the visa. Kindly refer to the attached image for the details of denial.

From information gathered here, i assisted in getting his GCMS note which clearly pointed out the schorlaship letter as the snag in his application.
I have racked my brains as to how to tackle this issue.
i would want him to reapply this time without any agent and with all the info i will be able to gather from this thread. He is awaiting admission for Phd as he has completed his masters.
He should he grateful for not getting a 5 year ban. I don't know why people think CIC don't go further to verify things. Well, since he didn't get a ban ye can apply again but this time everything has to be authentic and hopefully he will get the trv

Hello again, house

I have another question. I have completed an application for UNB. I plan to deposit the full 2-year tuition fees. Please, will this improve my chances of getting a visa, or will the VOs consider me desperate?

I have no issue with finances, and my mom is my sponsor. If you read my other post on this thread, you'll know I completed my BSC abroad (Malaysia).
Paying your tuition fee to the school before applying for visa isn't a bad move, in fact it helps to clear any doubt on the vo's mind on your funds, but before you do that make sure you contact the school to know their refund policy (it is very important).

Good evening everyone, i am new to this thread. Firstly i have gone through most of the previous discussions and i must appreciate everyone here who has made this thread what it is today.

I was told something and i am here to verify the claim ; An agent told me that the canadian embassy WOULD NOT ISSUE study visa to a masters degree applicant who graduated from the University 5 years ago. According to him, they prefer you come for your studies within 2 years of finishing your BSc.

Pls, how true is this as i am in a dilemma. Thanks.
LIE from the pit of hell. Runaway from such agent.
Read previous pages on how to package your application and ask questions here when you need some clarity and you will be good to go.
I want to believe you have admission already, if not start sending emails/applications to gain one ASAP then apply for your visa from the knowledge gotten from this thread

Yes, I'm a big fan of OZ!
Seriously, bro, PhD in Canada will be very costly, and I'm from a Social Science background and usually, not much scholarship is attracted to it.
About the EE, please, I thought it is for people who are currently employed? My last employment was in 2015. I have two master's degrees, so what are my chances?
Since you just finished your masters or about to roundup you can still apply for EE. You stand a better chance that way since you don't have interest in pursuing a PhD degree.
Also try to see if there's any school offering funding for PhD in your preferred course (it won't cost you anything) before deciding on the EE route

Hello Agboolaahmed,

You can always withdraw your application, especially at its initial stage. Don't bother trying to rectify it via email. It will be better to withdraw the application and reapply before you are notified for representation. I am advising you based on experience from a similar cases, though yours might be different.

To do this raised a webform and as well send through email a detailed body message stating your intention to withdraw then include your full name as shown on your PP, DoB, application number, CoR. You can give reason for withdrawal as due to error in your filed application and that you don't want your application to be processed with such error in it.

I believe you been advised accordingly by others here too.

Case Specific Enquiry(CSE)

Emails: nrobi-immigration@international.gc.ca
lagos.immigration@international.gc.ca
LAGOSIMMIGRATION@international.gc.ca

All the best.
The guy doesn't want to accept the fact that the mistake he made is a costly one, I don't know him but I feel he didn't declare his previous denial on purpose. Most people do that and when they hear of the repercussion they regret their actions and try to fool the vo by sending mails for correction.
The question if someone has been denied visa in the past is a very CLEAR question and 99.999% of people who decided to thick NO when they have been denied in the past do it on purpose, so they should be ready to face the consequences.
I wish him the best though

Alright bro. Please pardon my too many questions.. I will apply for Msc program in pharmaceutical chemistry, I don't know which institution yet..

My previous study visa application that was rejected was filed with practical nursing admission letter..

Do VOs consult previous application? If they do, could it negatively affect their judgement since my next application will be filed with Msc pharmaceutical chemistry admission letter rather than the practical nursing admission letter. Thanks..
Don't worry about your previous denial, this is a fresh application. But make sure you declare that you have been denied visa in the past(it won't have any negative effect on your new application but if you don't declare your previous denial then you will be denier and also get a ban)

Good morning.

I would like to inquire if the embassy will hold on to my passport during the process of seeking for a visa since i need the passport to also chase other country's visa simultaneously.

Thanks.
The only way to have your passport while your application is on is to apply via online, that way you get to keep your passport until your application gets to approval stage then CIC will ask for it

My brother got a PPR, but has less than 6 months left on his passport. We though it is better for him to get a new passport, but we want to know if he can submit the new passport to CIC given his application was done using the info on the old passport.
If so what are your suggestions on how best to do this? Can he submit both? Do we have to a letter to CIC to explain the new passport?

Has anyone experienced this before, or been in this situation? If yes, what did you do?
Please everyone, your advise will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.
Hi bro, it s been a while.
Since his current passport will expire in less than 6 months, he should submit both to CIC cos CIC won't accept only the old(almost expired passport). Submitting both will do

To everyone trying to make it to Canada. Please don't stop trying. The road is quite rough.

My simple advice is that you should take charge of your knowledge about your journey. Don't live by what you hear, or what people around you consider to be the norm.

I'm presently studying in Canada, but I'd not be in school all year as I just got an internship position with one of the big oil firms here...the money is GREAT, and the experience is GREATER! I'd make more than two times my very expensive tuition in this one year.

I thought I'd share this so someone out there doesn't make coming to Canada (alone) as the prize. The prize is to live the best life we can live, reaching our career goals as well as exceeding our financial potentials living in our dear country Nigeria.

I am a Nairalander of over 10 years. My handle takes different shape and form...Although I am terrible at keeping up with different messages, I am almost always on Nairaland. If you have any questions relating to the topic of this thread. Please feel free to ask here. I almost always reply.
Congratulations bro

refunds are usually sent back to the account it originated from.. So get back to your agent
Sometimes the school ask for account with the applicant's name. But let him still ask the school if they have sent the money already to the agent's account to be sure.

You are good to go, just make sure he shows commitment by paying the said money into your personal account before you apply. When filling the application form, use "scholarship" as your funding.
NB: Hope the $18,400 covers your tuition and living expenses? If yes, then do what I said above

Hey, house gurus

I'm new here and interested in pursuing an MSC (Educational Leadership) in Canada.

I completed my Bsc (Accounting) in Malaysia. My sponsor will be my mum, and she will be able to pay my full tuition and other fees in one go, even before the visa application. I have no issues with finances.

I am going for Educational Leadership because my family owns a school, whose management I am a part of. I plan to take over the school after my MSC. That's why I switched careers (From accounting to education). Will this fly to an embassy vo?

Also, I don't have any ties except for my job. Will that a problem?

PS: I was denied a US study visa in November 2019.
Going for accounting related masters would have been better but that doesn't mean you still can't get your trv if you want to change course.
First, let your parents state in their letter of support stating the business (school) will be managed by you after your masters and if possible they should back it up with documents (transfer of ownership if possible). On your own part, you need to explain why you want to switch from accounting to your new field.
Change of course isn't a bad thing as long as you can give genuine reasons why and can back it up.
Good luck

So I got a mail from a prospective supervisor. I sent a summary of my research interest.

Thanks for your summary. What you describe is a little outside my area, but we also have professors in ABC dept who could work with me to guide you. When you apply, mention that you have been corresponding with me.

Is she saying she is accepting to supervise me?.. I have mailed her back to ask, awaiting a response. But I need ideas here
In a nutshell, Yes. Just do as you are told and it will go well. Once your application gets to the board they will ask her if she is willing to work with you and once she says yes you are good to go. Congratulations
