Some teacher s are not good in correcting spoken English.

Some of them are after teaching and marking of note books. Nothing more. No Passion at all.
Exactly! And the children will come home talking nonsense

Tonto is crazy but at least this time she has a point. At least we know some private schools pay peanuts while collecting those big fees

It was the wrong time to say this when everybody knows his aging father

It will be crazy if Pete edochie is given a modest burial upon all his reputation so saying this was quite a stupid move and kind of insensitive too even though he made some points.

Putting the emphasis on money spent was wrong

This post is definitely for people with your kind of mindset about extravagant burial events.Nobody mocks anyone in the great beyond,if you are dead, you are dead.
Well, the point is that nobody knows for sure what actually happens in the great beyond

My sister, most people get married because it's a norm of the society and to avoid being castigated by people.

Anyone who looks well will see that marriage has ruined so many sweet relationships. If most people had a choice, they wouldn't have married but stayed together and enjoyed each other as much as they could in a very natural way. Marriage is unnatural
Well, I was speaking from the church angle we were discussing because I don't see what he will be doing in the church when he can't follow one of the main teachings that if it were a poor person, they would be chastised for not marrying the girl. That was my own point. You or I would never get away with it, would we?

As for it ruining relationships, perhaps you could expand. If the relationship was sweet before why should saying some vows and couple of days of dancing destroy it?

What's unnatural about it? That's one of the only activities that people do all over the world, even before being invaded, enslaved or colonised.

People don't need to be told to do it so it seems very natural to humans in my view

The situation you are describing sounds like when people rush into marriage which is totally different to marriage itself being the problem

how is it rubbish? are you in their lives to know what's best for them? and who told you he is doing this because he has money? it is very funny how people like you speak authoritatively about people's lives, people you have never met before!

you can call having children out of wedlock rubbish, but get angry when another person says marriage spoils things. hmm
What are you talking abouthuh I didn't say anything bad about having children out of wedlock

Can you comfortably worship regularly at church with a girlfriend and illegitimate kids?

Can you take communion?

You quoted me off point in the other thread, I decided to leave it alone since you clearly weren't understanding me. Now you're back here writing another one again.

Why do you bother commenting on a post you can't comprehend??

when should you not speak pidgin English, especially in the house?
It depends on the family background. It sounds vulgar to some people so they may find it inappropriate for somebody to speak it at home.

Or are you asking me when it's not okay to use it? I think you should know already that it's not always appropriate

Even speaking Queen's English in the wrong situation can land you in deep mmiri oku so as I said, pidgin is not the problem here.
Celebrities › Re: Tonto Dikeh: Don't Teach My Son Pidgin, I Pay N1.5m As School Fees For My Son by midnighter(f): 4:41pm On Nov 04, 2019
The problem is not pidgin but knowing when to use it

Except if you train him abroad he must pick it up because it's the way of communication for the common man and it's necessary at times

As an actress who understands media and communication let her explain to him as he grows older when and when it is not appropriate.

I get where she is coming from, at times some wrong habits can rub off on kids and it can be a shock when they suddenly burst it out at home, not really knowing what they are saying.

That goes a long way to show that marriage is not a big deal. What they have there is the real deal. Marriage spoils things in most cases. You hear about folks changing after marriage
It's a big deal o, if you call yourself a Christian. Marriage spoils what exactly?

Going to Catholic church everyday with your girlfriend and 4 out of wedlock kids is total rubbish.

Just because he has money doesn't mean we won't say the truth

A simple dictionary search will tell you that lag and behind means the same thing. The opposite of lag is lead. So argue with facts and not what people are familiar with if you want to follow the op.
You really need to check that dictionary yourself. Lag and behind are never the same

"Lagging behind" is simple and standard English so I dont know what you are talking about

Good point. Your audience should be your priority. There's no point sounding like A specialist and trying to explain nuance to a lay audience. It defeats the purpose; which is educating the audience.

DCmonster humbly take correction and move on.
This is one of the main things that makes people defensive about speaking English, like that thread they posted this morning about "grammatical jargons".

People use complicated language and "jargon" to oppress those they are supposed to be helping, where a simple word will do.

Then everybody gets agitated whenever English language, which we have been speaking for at least the past 60 years, is discussed

Especially in healthcare, its better just to get to the point so that the patient wont feel intimidated and go away even more ill than before because they couldnt get even one word of what you were saying
