Whether you put additional funds or not, the amount in your account at the end of the period for you which you're printing is your closing balance. Putting in additional funds does not have any bearing on what the ECO sees as the closing balance. I.e if I run my account for 28 days, I submit on the 29th day and I decide to print my statement for the 28-day period on the 30th day with or without depositing into my account, the money I have in my account on the 28th day will be my closing balance. sunshine21: How is this advice correct? So what happens if the additional funds is not part of the maintenance funds or is one not supposed to use his or her account for any other transaction? @mimilyrics @justwise, please clarify. |

The documents you submit outside the ones listed on your CAS or by UKVI are dependent on your personal situation. No, you won't be needing documents to show 2nd year fees; all the ECO wants to see in your account is the amount stated on your CAS. If you're asked, just mention your funding source for the 2nd year; an explanation is often sufficient for this. No, you don't need to show your payslip. To show employment information, a letter from your employer stating your employment details is often enough; the letter should state that you've been granted study leave for your study period if you intend going back to your employer. Sanitizer: Good Morning @justwise @mimilyrics Please, I want to know if the Entrance Clearance Officer will ask for financial documents showing I can pay for my Second your fees and also if I will be asked to show my pay slip to show what I claim to earn? You don't need to upload your CAS; it's an electronic document which UKVI has access to. All you need is to fill the information on your CAS into your application form. Yes, you need to scan and upload your data page under the residency category. You need to print your appointment confirmation. meyers: Thank you for your prompt response. Since the documents are to be in pdf..it then means that documents sent directly from one's school like the CAS could be uploaded as it is. Is this right? Also, is there any need to scan and upload passport data page and the print out of the completed application? |

The upload process is the same across the visa categories. You need to click the + sign or drag and drop your documents, then select the category for each document and upload. You will upload all your supporting documents (TB test, bank statement, certificates, employment letter - for those submitting one, passport, accommodation evidence if any, ATAS e.t.c) Scan and change your documents to pdf format to upload. You can use TinyScanner mobile app to do this. By the time you're done, your uploaded documents summary list should look like the attached screenshot. You'll be able to print out this list for your appointment. PS: Try to keep each document you need to upload below 10mb to increase upload speed. meyers: Could someone who has used the self-service kindly explain exactly how it is done? Like what are the exact documents to upload, and what to take to the VAC on appointment day. This is specially for a Tier 4 student visa application.
For example: CAS, ATAS (for those on this category), admission letter (is this necessary), TB Test cert, photocopy of passport data page, Docs listed in CAS, ? And is there a specific format for these docs? I really don't want to make a mistake. Thank you

Your closing balance will be used; you don't need to make transactions prior to printing. Nothing wrong with printing on the date you submit; the date of application should be your 29th day in this situation. naledis: If for instance I choose to submit online today, whatever bank statement I get be it online from my bank app or a printed version at a bank branch can only reflect yesterday’s transactions as the most recent. It talks about the period the funds can cover before the application not the print date of the statement. You must show the funds for at least 28 days and at most, 31 days before your application and the earliest start date that this can be is 31 days preceding your application, not older / more than 31 days. The 31 days after print date is not in the students' guidance though this is in the dependants' guidance and I'm guessing it's adopted since the dependant's application is hinged on the main applicant's application. You can print your statement just for those 28 days preceding your online application any time after you submit your application, it doesn't necessarily mean that you have to print 31 days before your online application submission. Ps: You're actually right though and we were basically saying the same thing in different words. Some inside sources actually confirmed to me that your interpretation is correct too and isn't generally an issue except in rare cases. Thanks for a good discourse dami24: @ mimilyrics
28days finishing on the day of the closing balance (not finishing in the date of your application) |

Try to read the guidance again. It states that funds must have been held for a consecutive 28-day period (finishing on the date of the closing balance) ending no more than 31 days before your application and no later than the date of the application. Even if you print the statement 10 days after your submission, it must show the 28-31 days period preceding your application; the days that will be counted will go no further than the 31-days before the online application submission. iamlinton: Try to do your research well, because going by your own rule it means if you apply for Visa online on Sunday ,you have to print bank Statement on Sunday . Some schools request for bank statement for CAS and they encourage you to use same statement to apply for Visa. If your rule is correct ,this won't be so. cheers |

It's not, the guidance is clear on this and there have been people whose applications were refused because of this but if you want to tow that route, then I'd not go over this with you. It's your choice. dami24: It is possible to submit a bank statement that doesn’t capture the funds in the account on the day of submission.
When you print a bank statement at the bank, it carries date you printed the bank statement and also the number of months you have chosen up till the day of printing
For eg, if I print a 28days bank statement today, it shows the funds I have in the account up til today (3/08/2020). The date of printing the bank statement is also 03/08/2020
Ukvi says it is perfectly fine for me to use this bank statement dated 03/08/2020 for the next 31 days. That means this bank statement can be used from today till 03/09/2020
I hope this is clear. |

Did you read through what I wrote based on the OP's situation vis-a-vis what's in the guidance? Are you advising that the OP submit a statement that doesn't capture the funds in his/her account on the date his/her application is submitted? My agreement was in line with general advice on age of statement and I think I updated my comment to reflect this and I mentioned situations where it was otherwise. Though it's the general advice (which even I give), the date on the bank statement (it was stated in the dependants guidance though) was not dealt with in the guidance, only the period the funds cover. The guidance only talks about the period the funds cover which must be 28-31 days preceding your application and not later than your application date, nothing on the date/age of the statement. dami24: Mimilyrics, you have talked about this before and I think it was corrected then and you agreed with the correction.
The ECO wants to see that you have held your funds in the account for atleast 28days and the statement of account should not be older than 31days before you submit your application.
Meaning if you printed your 28days statement of account on the 1st of July, it’s is still valid to be submitted until 31st July
You only have to reprint if you are submitting the statement after 31st July |
Travel › Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 4 by mimilyrics: 9:37am On Aug 03, 2020*. Modified: 11:06am On Aug 03, 2020 |
No offence meant but that's not quite right; the 28-day rule applies irrespective of when you print your statement so the OP has to reprint the statement to show funds on his online submission date. The guidance clearly states that the funds should cover the 28-31 days preceding the application and not later than the date of application. If the OP applies tomorrow and has a statement that ends today, he has to print another one that covers 28 days including tomorrow because tomorrow is part of the 28-day count. The closing balance that will be used will be the closing balance on the day you submit, not the closing balance of the day before. In cases where people's statements show funds beyond 31 days prior to the application or a day(s) later than the application, the ECO just counts 28-days backwards from the date of submission to ensure that the money has been in there for 28-days leading up to the application so you are right on this. The guidance deals with the period the funds should cover and is actually silent on the age/ print date of the bank statement; the general use of 31 days after printing/before biometrics is actually a general advice due to document integrity reasons and situations in which the document date was an ish but this is not stated in the guidance. Only loan and scholarship letters have the age/date of the document stated. iamlinton: As long as the bank statement is not up to 31days from the date of printing you can still use it for example ,if you print your statement today the week of August 3rd ,you can use it up to September 3rd.
The rule of 28days counting from when you apply online will only be used if you submit a bank statement printed after you apply online. For example, if you apply online August 3rd and use a bank statement printed August 4th ,the 28 days will be counted from August 3rd to July 3 |
Travel › Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 4 by mimilyrics: 1:14am On Aug 03, 2020 |
No, if you submit tomorrow, you'd need to reprint for up to tomorrow's date so as to show the money in your account for tomorrow. This is because the ECO will usually count 28 days backwards from your application date. You upload after you pick your appointment on TLS site. Make sure that your documents are scanned and saved as pdf. pittoilet: Hi everyone. I intend to submit my application today and make payments. I have my maintenance funds ready for about 2 months ago. 28days to today is 6th of July but I want to get a bank statement from 4th of July (30days) to be safe.
Now, peradventure I do not submit the application today, say I submit tomorrow, can I still use the same statement to apply tomorrow? Or do I request for a new one upto tomorrow's date?
Also how is the document uploading like, is it during application process on uk.gov website or when actually booking for appointment? |
