Candycrusher: Only way out in this country is for us to scrap football. It breeds too much corruption One of the most senseless comments that I have ever seen on this board. Rather than advocate for greater transparency your solution is to get rid of a sport that most Nigerians love. A sport that is a healthy past time as opposed to the religious shenanigans that Nigerians seem to love. |

creserve: You will get to know a man's true mien when he's under pressure! Now a discerning mind will see the reasons for the Pastor's outbursts when he went to visit Fayose in Ekiti a while ago! The truth is that the government cannot afford to leave the poor masses under the whim and caprice of our religious leaders! Though, the masses are gullible and sometimes outright stupid when it comes to matters of religion, they still need to be protected! The truth is that people are being exploited by the religious leaders who have turned it into a family enterprises! Whilst I agree with what you have said do you see the FG (or northern state governors) doing anything to combat the power held by the religious/traditional leaders in the North? The previous administration tried with the Almajiri schools and the various universities - but what is this administration doing? What are the state governors doing? |

Why all this church is a business this or that Church is a business. They use superstition and fear to entice people to hand over their money, similar to the tactics used by other scam artists. |

Nairalanded: Nigerians love to politicise everything in relation to tribe and religion, how pathetic!
This law was made in 2011, that's about 5 years ago, the church bodies took FG to court and hence the law couldn't be implemented until recently when the church bodies lost in court which means the law has to be put into effect now, so what's all the noise about and accusations that Buhari has a hand in this?
I attend Redeemed and I applaud Daddy GO's resignation, others should follow. The truth is that the church is no longer a little entity, there is a lot of money in the church, and any place where there is a lot of money going around it needs to be regulated and watched closely to keep things at check, its done in EVERY COUNTRY IN THE WORLD, Nigeria shouldn't be an exception. There should be oversight when it comes to religion but you cannot politicize or accuse individuals of politicizing religion because religion is inherently divisive and therefor inherently political. The same is true of tribal affiliations which are even more fluid than religious allegiance. |
