I guess we have to agree to disagree! I know some parts of the South East and South South that is so poor that I wouldn't advice my worst enemy to live there. You mentioned Katsina but obviously forgot about Sokoto and Kano. We can do compare and contrast all day but the fact remains that both North and South are underdeveloped. The North might be filled with religious ignorance and people with low intelligence but the South's so called developed area is concentrated only to 1/4th of the total states. Like I said I'm less concerned about that, what I'm telling you is to research the profile of each appointee and tell me how they are unqualified. It seems you know more than the president, so please enlighten me on what makes them incompetent!
The president's actions are not in keeping with his slogan of 'change' if the same people from the crooked, wasteful civil service are being appointed. If he wanted those who had shown ability to act decisively and to use resources efficiently then hp would look to the private sector.

There are few places on the African continent as backwards as the north. Child marriage, fistula. illiteracy, almajiri, Boko Haram, Sharia Law, hisbah guards - none of those is a positive. No society progresses whilst being so closed minded.

For the record Sokoto does not rank favorably with the cities that I mentioned either. I already spoke about Kano but I ask you this - why does Kano fare so badly when compared with Lagos, Ibadan, PH or Calabar?

If you are honest with yourself, you would realize that the South South, South East and the North are all underdeveloped. Let's move on from that, what I'm particularly concerned about is the bold part of your statement. I suggest you look at the appointments again and research into their respective job functions. You'll see clearly that experience in the private sector is not needed at all. I would think personal traits such as honesty, sharpness and so on are much more important. What people like you are failing to realize is that the president is going to surround himself with those he can trust, forget about federal character and ethnicity!
No part of the country is as seriously underdeveloped as the north - taken as separate entities the south is one of the most progressive parts of the continent whilst the north is one the worst places on the planet. Highest illiteracy rates on the continent; some of the highest rates of VVF; children battling malnutrition in states like Katsina; children sent out to beg all over the north.

I reiterate my point about the appointments coming from the same crooked, wasteful civil service that Nigeria has always had - how does that amount to change? And if these people are such agents of progress why have they not been able to pull their own region from its desperate state?

It just goes to show how clueless of a nation we are. I was hoping to hear things like the appointees are not qualified either by inexperience or morality but seems majority of Nigerians are all about ethnic or tribal sentiments. During the last administration things were pretty much in favor of the South but did we grow as a nation? Did the South actually developed more than the North? If the answer is no then we can see that it's not by appointment, it's by character! Tribalism and hatred has thrown some of you into a state of blindness and I'm afraid there's no light at the end of the tunnel for people like that in this world. I actually applaud the president for the appointments so far, looking deep into each appointee's profile it's easy to see that PMB is building a team he can trust, a team not guided by religion or ethnicity but by ethics and high work rate. My advice to all you wailers is to broaden your horizon and stop this ethnic biasness in order to prosper in life!
Go to Uyo, Enugu or Calabar and then visit Katsina, Kaduna or Kano and ask me again if the south developed more than the north.

The problem with the appointments is that they are people who do not appear to have done a great deal in the private sector prior to being in government - too many are career civil servants. If this government is about change why are the same elements being reused?

It does not help matters that they seem to come from the most underdeveloped part of the country - if they are such effective administrators why have they not pulled their own section(s) of the country out of the toilet?

Wrong. It doesn't happen everywhere. This is not the case in develop nations, at least not in Europe.

They don't do it all the time but they do it more than what the public can or should condone.
It happens for the Prime Minister in England as well as members of the Royal Family.

Should his focus not be on doing?

What is done is more important than what is said.

They should pay a fine of 1 million. Then acquire a license of 500k per annum and pay a business tax.
Politics › Re: Were People Right About Buhari? by mmsen:

I often find this sentiment profoundly silly not because I have much regard for PDP but because of what it reveals about Nigerians' lack of perspective. PDP came into power in 1999, the Nigeria of pre-1999 was an odious calamity. You often find people who either don't remember the Nigeria of those days or were kids/young at the time and had no real knowledge of the actual state of affairs then, basing their analysis on the notion that PDP is the root cause of our problem. They do so because PDP is all they have known in their adult life.

Nigeria was messed up before PDP was formed, therefore, what is wrong with Nigeria transcends PDP. This is a 55 year old country which has been dysfunctional from the beginning. You can keep deluding yourself that regurgitating political characters from the past, so long as they are not PDP, is the path to a new beginning but that is the height of self-deception. I predict that we will be dissapointed just as we have been for 55 years. In 8 years time, people who are infants or teens today will proclaim that our problem is mainly attributable to APC. We will never learn.
You speak the truth - Nigeria of 2014 was much better than the Nigeria of 1994 or 1984, I'm amazed at the number of people who seem unaware of this fact.
Politics › Re: Were People Right About Buhari? by mmsen: 11:26pm On Aug 27, 2015
When has Buhari ever said or done anything that has been for the benefit of Nigeria?

Has he ever campaigned for fiscal federalism?

For an end to the devastation of the Niger Delta by IOCs?

For an end to child marriage?

For an end to almajiri culture?

Why has he only ever made noise about Sharia Law and amnesty for Boko Haram?
Politics › Re: #northerners Trends On Twitter As Nigerians React To Buhari's Appointments by mmsen: 10:37pm On Aug 27, 2015
My issue is not that he has appointed northerners but there is no record showing that these people are the best qualified to run the country.

If northerners are so competent and honest why is theirs the most poverty ridden section of the country?

Why do Kano and Kaduna lag so far behind Lagos, Port Harcourt, Enugu, Uyo and Calabar in terms of development. education and industry?

Until Nigerian society has a serious conversation about birth control, population growth and responsible breeding habits then such cases will continue to be uncovered daily.

As much as the economy might grow it will never grow enough to cater for the 5 children per woman habit that Nigerian society suffers under.

No society can cater for a population that doubles every 25 years.

This is partly what GEJ bestowed on us. It will get better by the passage of time.
If other nations are experiencing the same issue how do you then reason that it is something caused by GEJ?

Does GEJ have power over the global economy?

Does he set commodity prices?

Does he set interest rates in the US?

Science/Technology › Best Password Managers by mmsen(op): 2:12pm On Aug 25, 2015
http://afritechnet..ae/2015/08/best-password-managers.html

The most popular browsers (IE, Chrome and Firefox) provide the option of saving login and personal information for swift data entry. However, they do not assist users in creating strong, unique passwords. In spite of all the news of website and personal information breaches many users refuse to use substantial passwords - the most commonly used passwords include "password1," "qwerty" and "ninja". Password cracking is currently easier than ever with numerous software tools available for the most novice of hackers.

A good password manager will generate a long, complex, and unique password. This password will then be stored in a encrypted manner, either locally or remotely. In order to access the password database the user only need remember one password. A secure password manager replaces the need to remember several long, unique passwords and eradicates the excuse for reusing one easy to remember password on several sites, a practice that leaves users vulnerable to hackers.

Users are advised to learn from Tunji Andrews and the numerous Uber accounts that have fallen prey to hackers. The ability to copy and paste passwords safeguards users from keyloggers.

Passwords should be changed at regular intervals, in anticipation of the next breach. Most users know about LastPass and while it has its merits there are more secure options that make good password habits easier to stick to.

That is why one should still thank God that we have not completely gone extinct despite the bad state of the country.

It's so easy to access this country, whether through land, sea or air. Its just so porous and our people at the border are just who they are...nigerians.

So, that things have not completely broken down and we are better than Iraq and Afghanistan is still a big miracle
Did you read the article?

This is about two Nigerians who entered Pakistan from India because they wanted to join ISIS.

This has nothing to do with Nigerian immigration.
