FamilyRe: New Craze In Town- Ladies Retaining Their Fathers Name After Marriage by monex(m): 7:28pm On May 12, 2015
MrsChima:
I can imagine what YOUR home appears to be. Don't worry about my home and my husband is the man of the house and I am the woman of the house. We do not have any discord in our home and we highly respect each other!

Now getting back to what you appears to be confused about and that's why I like fighting with Christians who think they know the bible only to regurgitate what others think a family home should be. As I must add not every family is Christian. The bible doesn't work on those of Islam or Buddhist faith to name a few.

Genesis speaks of the parties leaving their parents home and cleaved as one...it also said that Eve was created from a rib..not toe or heel hone. She was created to be a help mate to Adam who was alone with other creations. Genesis clearly states equality between man and woman.

Now going back to Ephesian 5, which is an example of a Christian family. It doesn't apply to those who are not Christians. Chris is the head of the body, the man is the head of the family, and the woman is his help mate. The man is to submit to God and when a man submit to God, a woman submit to her husband as a reverend to Christ. The man is to love the woman as Christ loved his Church, which means that he is to have unconditional love for his wife and DIE for his wife.

Remember Christ died for those he loved so they can have grace before God.

Now Genesis states man and wife is ONE and ONE is interchangeable with each other. We can't pick and choose what is applicable when it is clear that man and woman is one=equal.
much as i appreciate the concept of equality, it seems to me that it is not biblical and only convenient. i am not good at my bible and will be open to your explaining how equality is biblical

Before I got married to my wife she raised this issue saying she wanted to retain her father's name. I asked her a simple question: do you want to get married or not? She understood and arranged herself.
bruhahahahahaha. i really dont give a damn though

in fact, she can retain her fathers name and refuse to include mine sef. i dont care. i could be concerned if her reasons for keeping it is hinged on the new wave of "feminism/equality" thinking. then i would ask her to logically explain her rationale to me but it would still unhappily accept her choice. it is her name after all.

The stark reality as recognised by Mark is that PDP as a party may not survive to witness the 2019 elections.
I forsee some genuine party men leaving the party for the likes of Fayose,Wike,Obanikoro,FFK( if he escapes kirikiri)bode George and d olisa metuh's and Akpabios to complete the last funeral rites of PDP.
These other party members would eventually form a new party or take over any of the growing parties presently on ground.
But PDP surviving? Not likely with d way they are ripping at each other and it would be good riddance to a stinking rubbish.Any party that has so debased Nigeria in all sectors of life and that produces a man as GEJ as president, does not deserve to see another election.
Obasanjo produced GEJ as vice president and president.

I personally would love PDP to bounce back stronger than ever, present a united front and act as a strong opposition so APC will not become another monster.

From the gale of defections, it is obvious that PDP never had any particular ideology or action plan, it was just an association of "share the money , and since the gold digging pit has caved in, man has done what man loves to do; run to the next goldmine.

Lagos should get no less than 500bn as we are carrying the dead weight of other states who refuse to do anything except chop money, while their people run to Lagos en mass looking for opportunity. More money must be allocated to Lagos from the other states till they get themselves right. No more slave work for Lagos. Plus we deserve 10-20% of whatever our ports bring in. That should be our own derivation
Huge internally generated revenue is what Lagos gets for its population. Ports are not natural resources. the port in Lagos is owned by the FG. the lekki deepsea port will be jointly owned.

exactly. i have being defending Igbos and fighting this seeming hatred for igbos but the response to the Oba's statements have been very irresponsible from some of those i know.

the Oba said it in a cheeky way not like he meant the violence. the ignorance on the Obas part was that he felt people living in his kingdom should do his bidding. The constitution says otherwise. however this should not call for insulting the Oba. Some offices are to be respected irrespective of the occupier. same way i didnt support the insults hurled at GEJ

Don't know exactly what to call it; rude awakening or shocker of my life!! I stumbled on photocopies of my husband's pension's scheme form, Life Insurance form and will.

As I went through the forms, I saw that my I am not my husband's next of Kin or beneficiary!! His younger brother is!! It hurts to realise that for a house that Ђåvε̲ made more than 60percent contribution to, per adventure something happens tomorrow, I will be left at the mercy of my brother in laws!!!

I haven't confronted him yet because I don't know how to. But I intend starting a secret saving account for myself because as at now, he access to all my bank accounts. I have also decided to stop contributing a dime to the house because I don't Ђåvε̲ any stake in it!

Are my thoughts in order? Please I need suggestions...what do I do? Married men why on earth would your wife not be your next of kin?
were those docs drawn up while he was still single. a lot of peeps use siblings as next of kin while single and forget to change it (to wife or kids) when married. My company reminds us about this and its consequence.

Note that it is the same with Nigerian women who use siblings as next of kin while single and forget to change it (to hubby or kids) when married.

CultureRe: Why Do Igbos Especially The Anambrans Marry From Their Tribe? by monex(m): 7:21am On Feb 23, 2015
bigfrancis21:
There are several Igbo ladies that dated Yoruba guys only to get dumped by the guy for a fellow Yoruba lady. Such happen constantly. These ladies didn't cry foul, they moved on with life. One particular Igbo lady I know is in her 40s today and single because she was dating a Yoruba guy in her early 30s for 4 years who promised her marriage, she was happy that she was finally going to get married and her prayer to have a husband was finally answered, only for the guy's mother to reject her because she is Igbo and her son followed his mother's advice. At 36 she was single and dumped, older with fewer prospects of marriage. Now she's in her 40s and she still isn't married yet.

I don't condone tribalism, whatsoever. What happened between the Igbo guy and girl happens constantly within Igbos, Yorubas and Hausas. Some Igbo people date only to separate years after. Same for Hausas and Yorubas. It happens steadily. It isn't unique if that happens between people of different tribes. It all depends on the guy. If he really wants it to happen, it would happen, believe me.

Now, answer me honestly. Had this guy in question been a Yoruba guy, for example, about to dump the girl, say an Igbo girl, would you have opened this very thread in the first place questioning why Yorubas prefer to marry Yorubas?
my points exactly
CultureRe: Why Do Igbos Especially The Anambrans Marry From Their Tribe? by monex(m): 7:18am On Feb 23, 2015
bigfrancis21:
Igbo bashing has become quite a common thing in Nigeria such that it has become normal to bash Igbo on every single thing, even on things that are meaningless.

You created this thread to ask why Igbo prefer to marry from their tribe. Are you really serious? This is a question you opened this thread for looking for 'answers'? Would you have opened this very thread in the first place had a Yoruba or Hausa guy been the one who preferred to marry from their tribe? Yes or No? Why would a Yoruba parent reject a non-yoruba suitor, and that will not be an issue. In fact, such action is justified. A Hausa parent will do the same and no dust will be raised about it. But when an Igbo parent does the same, then its a big deal. It is a serious issue that calls for serious attention and criticism, then you begin to get tags like ''Igbos are 'tribalistic'', 'they are 'selfish'', it is an 'Igbo problem' e.t.c. Minor issues that aren't issues when done by other tribes become a serious issue when Igbo is involved.

I look around me, majority Ibibios marry within the Ibibio tribe, majority Hausas marry within Hausa, Yoruba within Yoruba, why should the Igbo marrying within themselves even be a question in the first place? Despite the level of inter marriage between whites and blacks here in the US, majority whites marry within whites, chinese within chinese, blacks within blacks, and you're going to sit there and tell me that it is a problem when Igbos prefer to marry Igbos?? Like seriously??

I get your point about love being the most important factor between 2 people from different tribes and there are marriages between Igbo men and non-Igbo women however majority Igbos don't need to look outside for love when they can find it within themselves. The same love you mentioned as important, Igbo men get it from within the tribe. Why look outside? What about culture preservation and values? Why should Igbo preferring to marry from within even be an issue in the first place when other tribes are doing the same? Is the creation of this thread even justified in the first place?

Igbo people are tribalistic, they are evil, they love money, yet you want to marry them? Seriously?

Tomorrow you're going to open another thread asking 'Why do Igbo people speak Igbo?' Like seriously??
i am not Igbo but i totally agree with this. marrying from same tribe is not unique to Igbos

Jobs/VacanciesRe: 5 Things Recruiters Want To See On Your CV by monex(m): 10:02am On Feb 06, 2015
berildan:
As originally culled from https://club340./

Ever wondered why that cozy, well-formatted, one-page résumé of yours hasn’t been landing any test invitations or interviews? It’s probably because recruiters of top MNCs have become bored of seeing the very same monochrome documents in every pile of résumés they process. Moreover, the year is 2015 and trends have changed for everything, from Toyota Models to one-page CVs (yeah, seriously!). So here are five suggestions to make your résumé stand-out from the pile.

1. LinkedIn Handle: Over the years LinkedIn has become a very integral platform for recruitment firms. Almost every Human Resources person or recruiting agent wants to know the “LinkedIn side” of you, so you’d better save them the stress of having to open a new tab on Mozilla by linking your résumé to your LinkedIn page. Moreover, since typical résumé length is 1-page, you could use your LinkedIn page to your advantage by putting all other information not listed on your resume. However, recruiters are only prompted to go there if you lure them with your linked handle (okay, enough with the links).

2. Highlights in pictures: As I said before, monochrome is boring. Recruiters can easily miss that awesome internship you did at Unilever or that wonderful scholarship award from Total E&P when you present these details in black and white. It is always advisable to provide graphical highlights of your major achievements. For instance, If I were a recruiter, I’d be more easily drawn to the short summary under the Microsoft Logo on your résumé, than one long statement about the firm, lost in-between the lines in black and white. (Especially when I only have an average of 30 seconds per resume).

3. GPA: These days, it is very common to find people listing their educational achievements without indicating their graduating class or GPA. Well, that might still land you opportunities with some boutique firms around your neighborhood. However, if you’re looking to play in the big leagues, you’d better start saying something about your grades early on in your résumé. This is the major factor most recruiters use in the first part of the screening process for most entry level positions (and even experienced hires), so by not indicating your graduating class, it’s an automatic throw in the “NO” pile. In fact, these days most recruiters want to see your very GPA and not just the class alone (because a 3.7/5 and a 4.48/5 are two different players in the same sport). Of course the only exception to this rule would be those that have obtained a degree class which is way below the requirement. For such people, presenting the degree anonymously can only do good to your application (especially if you have strong internships and notable extracurriculars which could convince the recruiter to offer you an interview).

4. IT Skills: For fellows in Arts and Humanities, recruiters are increasingly demanding just about the same IT skills from you as they require from your engineering and science-oriented counterparts. So spend the next summer break or your NYSC year learning advanced use of Excel (Excel is the most popular of the Microsoft Office suite programs used in most firms) , at least one programming language and proficient use of Windows 8, 8.1.

5. Unique Extracurriculars (ECs): In the 21st Century, almost every job-seeker loves to read, travel and swim as part of their past-times. Unfortunately, recruiters have become too used to these series of hobbies and are unimpressed by them. However, the candidate that says he loves rock-climbing and states that he climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro last fall would still get some attention. He’d certainly be invited for interviews so long as he has met other criteria moderately (Which recruiter wouldn’t want to find out what the experience was like?). So it’d be better to highlight only extracurriculars that are unique to you. Of course as part of your ECs, it is also commendable to provide details of leadership experience during your undergraduate studies as this is just about the only way recruiters get know if you have leadership potential.

There you have it! Five suggestions that could change your résumé for good. Keep watching this page for more posts!
he got it right even with GPA

First of all,I'm glad for them and I hope the baby brings joy into their wonderful lives....

Secondly, the gay bashers here should better go get educated about human sexuality and sexuality(in all species) before ranting ignorantly here....

There are those who aren't attracted to any sex atall(asexual)...those who are attracted to the same sex(homosexual),those who are attracted to the opposite sex(heterosexual),those attracted to both sex(bisexual) and many more...

If you feel its "unnatural" and not "god's plan",then go take a look at naturally homosexual creatures like this one..

http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Mexico_whiptail

" The lizard is a
female-only species that reproduces by producing an egg
through parthenogenesis. Despite reproducing asexually
,
and being an all female species, the whiptail still
engages in mating behavior with other females of its own
species, giving rise to the common nickname "lesbian
lizards". "
The above example reproduces by same-sex conjugation....doesn't it seem counter-intuitive that this is a natural thing for them.....no magic wizard waved a wand and said "thou must multiply homosexually"... undecided

If you are not comfortable with homosexuals, then you have issues to work out with yourself(mostly dogma)...because it most certainly wasn't homosexuals that did this deed
http://sofooo..in/2013/03/girl-raped-tortured-to-death-with-huge.html?m=1

And for those who think that somehow a same-sex couple is going to affect the child negatively should review the fact that the couple initially were raised by straight parents and they both turned out gay,so it doesn't matter who raised you.....your sexual preference is attuned to you only(that is why most of you can't fathom/imagine this type of sexuality)

Jokingly its not as though they get intimate with a stinky asshole(just like we don't with a bloody vagina ), it's thoroughly cleaned... grin

Lastly you all might as well argue against interracial marriages, since you're all in the 5th century and are cultural-religious hypocrites...ironically it's the priests that are raping children and the pastors that are raping men/women... undecided
no they dont reproduce by same sex conjugation. your reference disagrees

i came here to enjoy the sarcastic comments from the ladies and i am having full dosage. this is typically what guys would say if it was the other way round.

well, the thing is a woman cheating is diff from a man cheating. for a lot of men, cheating on their wife is to satisfy this pleasurable lust ( a terrible curse on men). A man can cheat and still love and cherish their spouse. but in a lot of cases, when a woman cheats on her husband, there is something already wrong with the relationship. cos a woman will not typically sleep with a man for pleasure unlike men.
