Consumer Protection Council |
ziccoit: SLOT is having a free day because nobody is freely protecting the consumers' interest in this country. Are Nigerians even aware of the CPC? And those who are aware, how many use the CPC's services ![]() |
234GT: though I have an account with them. ![]() Sure having an account with them or not is part of their criteria. #JustSaying |
I remember when this job advert was on NL and peeps gave the words - "haulage", "logistics" etc. Oh my! Any PhD holder who actually conducted a research with the aim of being a driver must be checked upon! Let anyone say anything but such people know not what they are doing. Please note that I respect each of us' personal preferences to earn a living in whatever we have a passion for but the worst a PhD holder could do is to teach in a secondary school! Now, it's not only Bsc holders who know not why they went to school, it seems the 'phenomenon' is 'graduating'. ![]() |

^^^Kk. No wahala. Your interpretation was what I thought of - just made my own remix! |
I got to know you then I was like ''Astagfurullah" ![]() Are you besseching Thee to forgive your sins for meeting someone? That's where the 'bad influence' stemmed from. Perhaps we're interpreting in different ways. |
deols: I got to know you and I was like "Astghfurallah!"Who's Mr(s) You? A friend or what in this context? |
I got to know you and I was like Subhanallah!" When I realised that you were negatively influencing my eeman, I was like "Auzubillah" As a fellow muslim(ah), my dua'a for you became ''Idina siratul mustakin'' - Ya Allah" ![]() |
Thank you for sharing your experience. Just the way the NGN200 difference between complete and social is ridiculous, am wondering why one will pay extra NGN1,600 for more than one e-mail account. Naija ripping sha |
Serious! |
![]() And it doesn't get newer until completed!!! |
-Yes I know. It's x years time, where x is the unknown variable to Mustay! ![]() ![]() |
It's also worthy to note that ironically, roadside sellers 'compete' with libraries as to the collection of books they have. Some people sell their used books to them for the trader to resell! |
National Library of Nigeria? On average, how many libraries does each state have in Nigeria?
The National Library of Nigeria came into effect in the mid 1960s, with the enactment of the National Library Act of 1964.The library was established by an act - normally, it ought to be in each state as you can see. Anyway, that's for federal. Similarly, states too have their own State Library Board under the Educaction Ministry + SUBEB. I can however not say if it's all states that do but I've seen some. That's the work of Prof Ruqqayatu Rufai and the State Education Minstries. With JAMB thinking of going digitally for their exams in 6 years time, it's not just about the library but having an e-library. The advantage of a government-owned or sponsored library is the access to some materials you ordinarily may not get elsewhere. These days, we must also remember that kids are being affected by what they see - the definition of success has been changed to a 'get rich quick or die tryin' syndrome and the entertainment scene seems to be okay, so wetin I wan read for when I fit comot skul, go sing and still 'make am'? |
Am sure each state must have a National Library of Nigeria. The conditions of public libraries is another topic but there certainly are and I haven't even mentioned private libraries. Back to the topic, we are losing the reading culture and experts do mention this anytime the result of WASSCE/NECO is released. What is worrisome is how textbooks are also being changed. So instead of using 'Understanding Mathermatics' from primary one to six, schools try to make money by changing the authorized textbooks for use in schools. |
Chuksmomay: Nysc dnt take laminated certificate cos people come to camp with fake ones. So in order to check for the authenticity, they demand u dnt laminate it.It's the call-up letter, not the certificate. |
dominique: This poster must be a rude and obnoxious person in real life. Who are you to tell her to go outside and breast-feed outside. Is it your church? I'm glad the woman put you in your place. He may not be right to give 'orders' or warreva but whether it's the church or market, there's something called public etiquettes which the lady lacked. |
^^^ Thanks. Please you can add to the 'database' on that thread. What library is that in the pic? |
ogugua88: Please permit me to ask a dumb question: are there public libraries or museums in Nigeria? I have never seen any the time I stayed there, nor have I heard of any. No one needs to mention how important these are, not only for children's sake, but for culture and individual enlightenment as well. There are! haba! www.nairaland.com/1043291/list-public-libraries-nigeria Even in these times when children want to read not, I still see kids going to libraries after school. However, how do you expect them to have time for libraries especially duwing weekdays as schools organize what they call 'lesson' after school hours? |
STOP THAT NONSENSE. One has rights, the other doesnt. Imagine being physically and psychologically oppressed for not wearing one head handkerchief.
Good you wrote imaginations for the story is not newsworthy but mere discussions on imaginations! |
They don't own books, they borrow books! If Eze owns a book, it must be for the family so that Chioma, Obinna, Emeka, Blessing and Kenneth make use of it at their respective stages of growing up. Sadly, when foreign bodies or institutions provide aid in the form of supply of books for free distribution to school children for example, some shallow-minded selfish individuals divert the means and attempt to make use of it as a business venture!!! Last week, the SSS was engaged by the FG to ensure that books distributed get to the intended users as was the purpose. |
Chuksaluta: Please It says dat my java is off, but it is on, I use bold 2It makes use of Javascript. What browser are you using on your phone? |
@nitrogen you're in PE2, ko? How preparations? Been wan mail you buh 4get. |
Nigeria is using IFRS as adopted. EU uses IFRS as adopted. USA uses GAAP and there are more differences like LIFO being allowed in GAAP, non-reversal of impairment losses, treasury stock method, recognition of some items in statement of cash flows, deferred taxes classified as current & non-current, qualitative characteristics of FS, recognition of elements of FS etc. The Nigerian SASs were largely modelled after IASes. There's IFRS for SMEs too. Anyway, the IASB and FASB are still on the convergence project (2014) which would see to the differences being eliminated gradually. |
Even these guys that seek to formulate news item seem not to think twice before doing so. The same BH that JTF claim to be hunting The power of the media is when they can mislead those who try not to seive the wheat from the chaff as can be seen here. The problem of this country is our hypocrisy in matters and lack of respect for others. This FYM&T pic is apt anyways!
