lynxnoon: misinformationThe text the OP sent was actually advertised by Airtel - Sending bismonth3 to 440 gives u 3 months of the BB Absolute plan at N6000 ONLY!and it's different from what you're referring to, which is - NOW BACK WITH A BANG!!!BB COMPLETE 2+1 OFFER: Pay N2,800 for 2 months and get 1 month subscription (worth N1,400) FREE.Are you using the absolute plan? On Airtel's site, the details are 1GB - http://www.africa.airtel.com/wps/wcm/connect/africaairtel/Nigeria/Phone_Services/Blackberry/BlackBerry_Internet_Service/ I used to know it as 1GB before Glo made all of 'em bring their prices down + Airtel introducing complete & social plans. However, you can see these - http://m.nairablog.com/2011/06/airtel-nigeria-blackberry-prices-and.html/ http://enairablog.com/2012/06/airtel-blackberry-plans-prices-and-activation-codes.html http://www.cynamix.net/1518/blackberry-complete-plans-subscription-codes-of-nigerian-networks-mtn-glo-airtel-etisalat.html https://www.nairaland.com/937097/airtel-bis-service/1 https://www.nairaland.com/933148/browse-blackberry-internet-service-pc---discovered |

For the fact that UCWeb browser has a download manager, it's the best for downloading on mobile. Perhaps there are -ishes with the site the OP visits or the sites do not allow DMs. |
Depending on your phone type, there may be other aaplications making use of the internet. The best is for you to subscribe to a data plan. |
don shabaz: Any where you buy, a blackberry in Nigeria always triple check. The blackberrys shipped in are something else. Other makes like samsung, HTC,Nokia Iphone ettc are less troublesome in purchasingThe demand for BB outweighs the supply, so it's every means possible they're trying to deliver to customers. |
Though Airtel on her website only advertises the COMPLETE + SOCIAL plan, the plan is unlimited. It's the one that allows for multiple e-mail accounts etc. |
HumbledbYGrace: Blackman's heart is worse manDoes his heart have a different color from the others too? |
edub45: Truth hurts bt I really think english sermons in the mosque will be yet another reason for muslim youth ''like myself'' not to learn arabic. ALLAH SAW has said in the quran that we have revealed the quran in arabic so can be easy to learn. The question is why don't youths strive to learn arabic the same way they do trying to learn english.Thank you! The Imam in the mosque I observed Jum'ah yesterday mentioned this - he gave the example of an artisan being so determined to learn the use of computers but not the same for arabic. If you converse with the arabs, they usually like when you for example, write a dua'a in arabic version than the transliterated version. This topic was an issue in a mosque I prayed in some years ago in my area - one man from Benue state complained that the jum'ah was always delivered in yoruba language he did not really understand - while the Imam mentioned that he visited different mosques every friday as part of his knowledge-seeking activities, he mentioned that it was the duty of the mosque committees to study the locality and try as much to get to everyone. Friday prayer sermon is supposed to be one where you add to your knowledge base - you must learn something new till the next week. The essence of having 2 rakahs will be defeated if the followers do not gain from the sermon. Some mosques however have interpreters which is a good one. In some universities in the southwest, the sermon is usually divided into two - one part in English and the other in Yoruba as there are some artisans, non-academic staff etc who do not understand English language. In summary, mosque committees (where Friday prayers are held and even the surrounding communan put this up) should take this into consideration and provide for the congregration to ensure that everyone benefits from the khutbah. afam4eva: Why do you think Hausa and Yoruba Muslims go to different mosques. I don't know why Mosque shy away from praying in English despite the fact that Nigeria's official language is English. I wonder how it would be if i entered a redeemed church and the pastor starts speaking in Yoruba. I think this problem is one of the reasons why Islam may never spread beyond it's present borders. How do you want to take Islam to Igboland if you don't communicate in English. I think they have to consider other people that may not be Yoruba.Am sure you know why Bishop Ajayi Crowther wrote the 'Bibeli Yooruba'. Islam was not spread to yoruba land via yoruba similarly but what you must know is that every muslim irrespective of what continent they are in, can go to any mosque and offer obligatory prayers because of the use of one universal language! In islam, observing obligatory prayers is done only in arabic and it's the duty of each muslim to learn that in order to fulfill this pillar. Because we learnt English or whatever language while growing up, we want English. It's the same demand the French-speaking fellow will have to. |
hustla242: I understand your view which is why I'm a bit confused. I have a feeling though, that'll I'll always get a job when I finish. Just that my current colleagues might be in management whilst I'd have to start again. You'd always start from somehwere! Your knowledge would you put you at an edge that those of your friends who had no time or interest to read more will not be able to offer as much as you can. In the end, it's no longer about how you start! I've read that article; an economist will always think a PhD is a waste of time, which is partially true. I believe a PhD outside the sciences and engineering is not good value for money becuase you'll probably end up jobless.Your opinion anyways. If this was the case, people would stop going to universities as there are so many bachelor degree holders out there. One's knowledge is always an ASSET and an asset is an ECONOMIC RESOURCE! lanreni: Do you know the opportunities that will be chasing after you after your scholarship programme in europe? Don't dull yourself.even your colleagues would dream of such exposure.open up your mind to gain a lot from this opportunity, even outside the academic domain and leave the future to worry about itself.you are only permitted to measure yourself by your potential, not by where your colleagues are.do what gives you greater joy and satisfaction.thats what matters at the end. GBAM!!Thank you for shortening my response. You don already even put the 'GBAM!' wey I wan put for your comment. |
Airtel does this already! They notify one (after calling, texting or browsing with your credit) just the way you check your account balance. I won't want DISTURBING text messages like Etisalat does. geez! |

2bosun: What's the point of a PHD, isn't it to get a job in the end? There are millions without job and you want to quit your job.Maybe @hustla242 should read this - Doing A Phd Is Often A Waste Of Time, Says The Economist |
The CC is back now. Has OP contacted 'em? |
jennykadry: I never thought about it cos I don't believe in itSame here! |
You may listen to lectures too but am not sure it may make a lot of sense if you don't see any applications. Nevertheless, there are some you'd be anle to easily key into since you're chartered. I recommended the DipIFR 'cos you'll be grounded in IFRS - you can however choose to opt in for alternative courses if you so wish. For now, I can PM you a link to get some texts for IFRS and where you can get some weekend lectures in Lagos. They write the exam during the exam cycles of ACCA - June & December. At least, when you're done, you'll have a certificate you knew you 'jacked' for, one you can defend and subsequently teach others IFRS also! |
^^^ ACCA QUALIFICATIONS FOR FINANCE PROFESSIONALS If you are a finance professional who is not already knowledgeable about the details of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), this qualification has a fast and efficient solution to meet your needs. You need to develop a working knowledge of the area, and the DipIFR will make this happen. Over 113 countries require or permit the use of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) for publicly-traded companies. All listed companies in the European Union (EU) have to prepare consolidated company accounts that comply with IFRS. It also affects associates and subsidiaries of EU-listed companies. Other countries such as Australia, Hong Kong, NIGERIA and South Africa have already adopted IFRS or equivalents as their local Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). And many other countries around the world are moving towards applying IFRS, which is having a significant impact on financial reporting. COURSE OBJECTIVES The course is designed to develop your knowledge and understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards. You will also learn how to apply them, as well as the concepts and principles which underpin them. On completion of the Diploma candidates should be able to: * understand and explain the structure of the framework of international accounting * apply relevant financial reporting standards to key elements of financial reports identify and apply disclosure requirements for companies in financial reports and notes prepare group financial statements (excluding group cash-flow statements) including subsidiaries, associates and joint ventures. http://www.accaglobal.com/en/qualifications/glance/dipifr/overview.html |
Are you chartered? You do need to take a course on IFRS. I'd presently recommend taking ACCA's DipIFR (Diploma in IFRS) cos there's so many Tomiwas, Dicksons and Harunas offering IFRS training within a day or two just because people want to get the certificate (Naija and the certificate craze) and show they're certified. If you're an ACA, the IFRS training should contribute towards your CPD points. IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards) is the codified GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) for the preparation and presentation of financial statements. The standards (comprising of the old IASs and new IFRSs) were adopted by the FRC (Financial reporting Council which 'enveloped' the former NASB) in 2012 for the preparation and presentation of all FS in Nigeria. You need a good know-how of the standards in order to apply them, so for your company, you'd probably even start from IFRS 1 - First Time Adoption of IFRS. You can read BusinessDay Newspaper - am not sure of the day but they do have a weekly feature on IFRS (Ernst&Young sponsored) you probably may find useful. |
Some of my thoughts have been written in previous posts. With the OP's last post, I'd 'vote' for the PhD. |
Scan it and upload it on your mailbox or some other safe site online. There are always going to be hazards and what we do is to reduce the risk of occurence. |
Stay safe on Google Trader Most people connect with others via Google Trader successfully and safely. However, there are occasional reports of scams. Here are some useful tips to help you stay safe: Buyers should be wary of: » Extremely low prices for expensive or popular items. » Promises of earning quick money with little effort. » Sellers wanting payments before delivering the item you have purchased. » Anyone asking you to wire money directly into their account, or who claims to only take Western Union or Money Gram or similar forms of payment. » Someone who provides a different address or contact details than what is stated on his or her details page. » Anyone claiming that Google Trader will guarantee a transaction, certify either buyer or seller, or will handle or provide protection for a payment. Any such claim is fraudulent as Google Trader is not involved in any transactions. When you meet: » Meet in a safe, public place. » Inspect the item before you complete the transaction to make sure it is exactly what has been described and it is what you wanted. http://support.google.com/trader/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=2527462 |
udoitam: I was the editor of Anamkopa batch A 2011/12. Let me correct one impression, NYSC dosent use registration data, but rather CLO's and AI's collect datas and passport of corps members to the Head of Public Relations who then foward such docs to the editors to pagemake and fill the datas.Thank you for the clarification. Despite your story however, an individual's data is personal and s/he reserves the right to publish such information in a public domain. Every information about you can be used against you, so it's not just a matter of job scam et al - this is why I wrote that the smartest of us could be careless at times. Those who choose to include their numbers on FB did so as a matter of choice. If we had an act, those with our personal datas will do more to be confidential about such information except when there are cases where the confidentiality clause has to be broken. Summary - the CLOs as you said should not just collate these data and give to the editorial board - the consent of the corpers should be sought. |
fittty: Who's forcing you to include ur real numberA corper provides NYSC with a fake number at his or her own peril. There are numerous instances they may need to contact you. Some of these people do not have their pictures on the book but have their details therein so methinks NYSC makes use of the registration details of batch corps members to publish in the magazine. |
Caracta: I hated pills. The day we changed the furniture, there were several pills i had hidden everywhere, especially inside the couch & seat covers. The truth has no hiding place! |
Lexusgs430: If it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is. So long as you are not told to send money first then receive your goods later, it might be worth your trial. But the rule still applies (caveat).True. I'd suggest the OP read the policies of Google on GT cos they highlight some issues the OP mentioned. It's safe to receive delivery of your item before payment than to pay before delivery - the seller loses little if the buyer defaults on payment on delivery (he still has ownership of the goods) than when the buyer makes an advance payment with little or no assurance of getting anything in return. |
Bamz: Hello people... I belong to the Sanitation and Beautification CDS group in Somou LG, LA., and besides the regular outings and seminars, the group burdened me with the task of sourcing for discussion topics in things that matter to us/ affect us as youth. I kindly need suggestions. Thanks in advance.Somolu ![]() It's quite a straightforward task - first of all, what matters readily come to your mind when you're asked about issues that affect you as a youth? |
Exactly! Unfortunately, we have not a data protection act in this country. It's the same story - they make use of details seen on the book but you have to scrutinize such person to know when they'll fall. Platoon? CDS group? POP date etc are questions you can use to reconcile the accounts. It ought to be a voluntary thing and the corper's permission should be sought before publishing such a thing called 'yearbook' cos aside 4 or 5 pages, those books I've seen so far lack substance. Hope we get no dangerous occurences before the authorities take note for carelessness may even affect the smartest of persons. |
kunlejazz: ripe age for marriage (I.e 29-35years)There is a reason why there's the adage - "A fool at 40 is a fool forever". There are some who are old and wise, others are old and unwise. Some are young and smart, while some are young and naive. Whatever the case, it is up to individuals to have a 'masterplan' for their lives. If a man in the early 20's is smart enough to be well prepapred for responsibilities of his actions, all well and good. There is no proven positive correlation between the marriage age and marriage success - we've seen some who got married and divorced in 24 hours whilst some broke the marriage vows they made two scores ago. It's the state of mind between both parties that matter the most. Peace ![]() |

Methinks the OP is referring to when you have 200GB in your phone. |
True. Just confirmed that. You might have to be patient till during the week when they've resolved the -ish with 'em. It's one thing to get to the CC, it's another thing for the Customer Care rep to be knowledgeable enough to give the right answers. ![]() |
I like to use my time effectively and being someone who likes discussions, I'd download PODCASTS like crazy!!! |
