Prayer 1. A practice of communicating with one's God, or with some spiritual entity. Through prayer I ask for God's guidance. In many cultures, prayer involves singing. 2. The specific words or methods used for praying. Christians recite the Lord's Prayer. 3. A meeting held for the express purpose of praying. 4. A request; a petition. This, your honor, is my prayer; that all here be set free. 5.The remotest hope or chance. Luke.11.1 - Now it came to pass, as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, that one of His disciples said to Him, "Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples." Luke.11.2 - So He said to them, "When you pray, say: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven. Prayer is meant to be Learnt. There is HOW to Pray and HOW NOT to Pray. A lot of people have lost faith in prayer or are losing faith in prayer. While a lot have never been more confident that TRULY God answers prayer. The LORD'S prayer (also aptly called Disciple's prayer) is the best template for HOW to Pray and What to Pray. What hinders our prayer is also carefully stated immediately after the prayer. Luke.11.8 - I say to you, though he will not rise and give to him because he is his friend, yet because of his persistence he will rise and give him as many as he needs. Matthew 6 and James 4 help distinguish a hypocritical/vain/selfish prayer from a sincere one. Some Prayers require Fasting. Not necessarily in a religious way. But genuinely to seek God's face To seek to hear clearly from God. To Break our unbelief (hardened heart). To discipline our flesh/desires/cravings/habits To sharpen our spiritual senses/antenna. If there's anything the last election should teach us; -Everyone prays, including believers and unbelievers. -God answers our prayer as it aligns with His Will. |
Maynman:Do we need to know Augustine to know that it is biblical? |
Sand2022:Rom.5.12 - Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned- Thanks for sharing. Can you explain why? |
Kobojunkie:It is good to explore these topics, so that we can have clear understanding. It can help us to Learn, Unlearn and Relearn where necessary. |
Kobojunkie:Gen.3.11 - And He said, "Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you that you should not eat?" Gen.3.12 - Then the man said, "The woman whom You gave to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I ate." Gen.3.13 - And the LORD God said to the woman, "What is this you have done?" The woman said, "The serpent deceived me, and I ate." From the bible we can clearly see who to blame, or can we? 1. Adam blames the woman. 2. The woman blames the serpent. 3. God blames all 3 of them. |
This is a very sensitive topic that I perceive needs to be discussed and addressed. May God grant us all answers. Feel free to share your personal opinion without feeling pressured to sound religious please. And feel free to share your religion's position as well with references please. cc jesusjnr kobojunkie maxinthehouse righteousness69 seun mods |
Craddock:Did I like wise mention any country sir? Are you afraid of the word/promise of God? |
Craddock:The only difference here is that it is God himself that is working in the said Biggest Country in West Africa. Time will separate the wheat from the chaff. We all know what happens to the chaff after. God bless Nigeria and all those who bless her. And curse all who curse her. Such is the promise of God. |
Temibliz:Who is to blame for this unfair quagmire? 1. The bank who stated clearly their terms and conditions? 2. The Staff who signed the Terms and conditions? Albeit out of desperation for job. 3. The Middle-man agencies who source for staff for the banks? Bear in mind these are the true employers of the contract staff, not the bank. |
Daniel058:This is the Gospel Truth. But Pride is a bastard. And Shame is her cousin. |
Dreadlock69:The LORD is your strength. But first thing is to fill that urge with a different (good) urge/passion. Also helps to know that it's a thin line between habit and addiction. |
Didijiji:It is simply a matter of authorization. Who is given the right to possess weapons cannot be accused of possession. They can only be accused of abuse. |
Septagon:That is the Power of the Enduring Mercies of God. If He finds favor in God's sight by virtue of being sincerely and genuinely repentant in his heart, it's done. He will be forgiven immediately. He might still do the time so that he learns certain lessons but his soul will be saved. Isn't this God too Amazing? But usually people like him feel they have gone too far to be forgiven. Or they have become too hard-hearted (proud) to even be repentant. As much as I hate what him and his ilk/caucus/cohorts have done to Nigeria, God's Will is supreme and God will deliver Nigeria and Nigerians from those who trouble her/us in the Mighty name of Jesus. Amen. |
donbenie:God is God whether you choose to acknowledge Him or not. He is not to blame for evil because He is Good. Evil is simply the absence of Good. Darkness is simply the absence of Light. Since the time of Adam, when evil happens it's because man chose to disobey God. And every soul that sins (disobeys God) dies. Deut.32.39 - "Now see that I, even I, am He, And there is no God besides Me; I kill and I make alive; I wound and I heal; Nor is there any who can deliver from My hand. When anyone sins, God can either choose to forgive or destroy the person. His Choice. And this is why we pray, so that though we deserve to die, He should remember the blood sacrifice of His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ and have Mercy on us. This will make little or no sense to you now. But if you truly seek answers with a sincere heart, He will call you out of darkness and into His everlasting Light. |
madridguy:Not like I need to address this but it has been debunked as usual. Until we all learn Social Media Intelligence in this Information/AI Age, we will be victimised by those who wish to control our minds/emotions for their agenda. Every weekend, they always come up with a new propaganda and people keep falling for it. Patience is a Virtue. The Truth always comes out. God deliver us all. |
IconicR:Your wisdom is divine. God bless you. |
LagosFirstSon:Are you educated? Do you understand Economics? Do you understand Governmemt/Political science? Do you understand Risk Management? Do you understand Religion? Do you understand Communication (Power of the (Social) Media? Do you understand History? Do you understand Cause and Effect? Do you understand Hooke's Law (Physics) Do you at least understand the 3rd Law of Motion? If you put your emotions in check and actually apply the knowledge you've acquired Academically, you will understand the present challenges we are undergoing under the new government/administration. Things will get better, it's just a matter of time. This govt has been making the right decisions and policies. Let's brace ourselves for the storm before the calm. We were hopeless under Jonathan and Buhari. Tinubu truly means well and has the Grace of God behind him. Jonathan meant well but the grace on him only brought him so far. He couldn't win the battle against the Cabal. Buhari meant well, but the grace on him could only take him so far. He bowed to the pressure. Tinubu means well too. He has been preparing for this for decades. Patiently strategizing for decades, raising men and gaining political traction for decades. When he made the bold statement "Emi lokan", it wasn't from a place of just entitlement, but recognition of Destiny. We are lucky to have a president who means well, is prepared for the task and has the interest of the people at heart- rich and poor, elites and masses, military and civilian, old and young. Time always reveals people and our choices. Time, and only Time will tell/justify. God grant us the fortitude, wisdom, creativity, comfort and provisions we need to survive and endure this "short-siffering" before the coming weight of glory for Nigeria and well-meaming Nigerians in Jesus name. Amen and Amen. |
boldsleek:It was edited from "bless to blessed." It seemed like a prayer. We don't do negative here sir. We only speak the Truth. Even when it sounds negative to a sinner/unbeliever it is good news for his soul. |
Sermwell:Sure, others will. I can only speak the Truth according to Scriptures, experience and testimonies. |
Sermwell:It's a bit difficult for me to say, but neither you nor your mom is a believer. You're only enriching pastors. So you should attribute your financial success to the gods of your dad. Cos Jesus Christ is not as interested in your financial success as much as your eternal success. His presence in your home would have destabilised the gods of your dad. Your dad would either have converted and renounced his gods or renounced you and your mom. There really can't be coexistence between Light and Darkness. One has to bow for the other. Unfortunately your dad's gods rule your household. |
Onelove508:While I don't think it's fair to call anyone's view/perspective nonsense, i do agree that indulging her is making her popular. But have you read her posts? Take time to hear/see her perspective and you will understand that she does have a point. She is however letting her emotion get the best of her. A lot of men are guilty of what she's saying. However it's not right/fair to take it out on all men. Check one or 2 or her threads and you'll understand her angle. |
lioke:Even so be prepared for the worst and you may be lucky to get your expected best. Guess it was modified. He was praying for a trouble-free wife/marriage earlier. |
fyzaila:I think you mean both? Cos time and chance happen to all marriages too. |
talented321:If God no fit satisfy woman, who we (ordinary men) come be? ![]() God bless modest ladies. |
Medianna:Yea, she's on the path to either a female version of red-piller or true woman rights activist. It's a thin line. |
Jennyclay:Well said. I see your passion to liberate women from abuse. God will grant you more Grace, Wisdom and Favor to achieve it well and to His glory in Jesus name. Amen |
Onelove508:Many share her view. Hence the need to retort once in a while. |
franchasofficia:Thanks for sharing. |
PoliteActivist:ThanKs for opening this thread. Prophets should be held accountable for false prophecies. Even the bible teaches so. Deut.18.18 - I will raise up for them a Prophet like you from among their brethren, and will put My words in His mouth, and He shall speak to them all that I command Him. Deut.18.19 - And it shall be that whoever will not hear My words, which He speaks in My name, I will require it of him. Deut.18.20 - But the prophet who presumes to speak a word in My name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or who speaks in the name of other gods, that prophet shall die.' Deut.18.21 - And if you say in your heart, "How shall we know the word which the LORD has not spoken?' Deut.18.22 - when a prophet speaks in the name of the LORD, if the thing does not happen or come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD has not spoken; the prophet has spoken it presumptuously; you shall not be afraid of him. |
Nonexisting1:This had me messed up with laughter!!! Honestly if woman don do man strong ting where you dey, you go dey run from dem. Or him go become heartless towards dem. Likewise if man don do woman strong ting na why some of dem too dey run from man or become evil/heartless/vengeful towards man. So you see the problem is vice versa. Not the gender but the person. Just that man still get small conscience pass woman. |
Ilamina:The problem is no one knows if you're serious or catching cruise. I dropped my number the other time, you did not call. Please, whatever you're going through is just a phase. How long it will last depends on how long you allow it. Talk to people physically. Meet your pastor or talk to a therapist. There are so many people going though this tough time. Don't give up pls. |
blazepascal:This is so me. I don't even know where I picked it from. Probably primary school while avoiding being flogged on the assembly for keeping dirty/long nails. The second is chewing my mouth (cheeks). I really can't even explain this one. Maybe I assumed it was cute growing up or it helped me think. I have tried and tried. Na only God I dey trust now. I really don't want my kids to pick up any of these habits from me. |

) I came across a thread where a "man killed his 22 yrs old girlfriend in anambra", in another thread I also read about how "a man set his wife ablaze just because she bought a property with her own hard earned money" ...I was so pained, I couldn't comment.
