tpiander:You see black kids obsessing over basketball at the expense of their education. It's scary. |
chigoizie7:How so? It's a love story, not a political story. |
People wrongly attribute it to evidence of good living, so they try as much as possible to have one by consuming excessive bottles of beer. .. |
tobimillar:No clue, there is no mention of her in the sequel, "A dream of Africa." Rather, he writes of his marriage to Marie which occurred the very day he returned home from France, a trip he undertook in "The African Child." |
Fingerprinter:You can order the sequel, "A dream of Africa," from Amazon.com and have it shipped to you, that is if you live abroad, or you can have friends/relatives who live abroad to do so for you. Best wishes. |
May God bless all of you for helping this man exceedingly in Jesus Name, Amen. |
Fingerprinter:I do, here is the English version https://www.nairaland.com/10200/saddest-love-story-camara-laye http://www.campboiro.org/courrier/akanimo_akpan.html |
Fingerprinter:Hey, Fingerprinter, did you read the story that I posted earlier? |
Congrats. |
I think it is Adichie. Meanwhile those who had read "The African Child" by Camara Laye may find this interesting. https://www.nairaland.com/10200/saddest-love-story-camara-laye |
A bird in a hand is worth two in the bush. Go to Law school and get your BL degree, so that even if your friend's promise doesnt pan out, you can always have something to fall back on. A word is enough for the wise. |
Could it be that this woman confessed to being a witch after being beaten that she couldnt handle it anymore thereby had to confess, to spare her further pain and humiliation? No matter what, what was done to her in blatant disregard to her life and well-being. Let God judge her. Goodness, people are being punished left right and center because of unproven allegations of being a witch. When I was growing up, there was a small girl who was brought in to work as a maid. According to story, the girl was proclaimed a witch, so everybody was advised to avoid her (if you suspected she was a witch, why did you hire her then?) One day, the baby was crying and there was an allegation that she tried to bewitch the baby so she was beaten for being a witch, now where were the proofs? Go to the villages and old men and women are accused of being wizards and witches, all because their bodies have altered in the process of time, so they are now witches and wizards. |
Learnt of a guy in my school who was accosted by a rival group that ransacked his mom's restaurant and then sliced off his buttocks. It is really scary, just recently, I had a conversation with a former classmate who told me of a guy ( I knew him) was killed in a shootout by cops because of cult activities. His death is painful really. Yet, some of these students would not listen. |
Kunlexxxx:What's CAC? |
Fingerprinter:Click on my name or you can read the story here http://www.campboiro.org/courrier/akanimo_akpan.html |
Fingerprinter:Read this about Camara Laye and his girlfriend, Marie. http://www.campboiro.org/victimes/camara_marie_lorofi.html |
Kunlexxxx:I know that some white garment Churches demand for fowl for sacrifices. |
Have him tested to see if he has dyslexia. Google it for more information. |
Per Square Foot, I think Maryland has more Nigerians than any other state in the US |
punta:None of her brothers are lawyers. They had a Church wedding and afterwards a traditional marriage, so that legalizes the union. Her inlaws who are demanding for a marriage certificate are just being mischevious, trying to embarrass her, not knowing that they are embarrassing themselves. Their only valid claim is the property which Bianca cant dictate who inherits what, because it wasnt wholly owned by her late husband, but by her father in-law. |
True. |
Are you a virgin? |
CRASS. It's not befitting a public burial at all and to even include "multi million naira mansion" says it all. The family ought to have given him a quiet funeral without any fanfare. Goodness, when people ask what killed him, what would be their answer? Can you imagine a family giving a public funeral to an armed robber caught and executed by the government? People need to think twice. |
Esuene built this road back in the 70's. Prior to that, people used to travel on ferries and ships when travelling from Uyo to Calabar. Ironically, in this digital age, it's as if we are retrogressing to the past, and indeed, I learnt some people are beginning to revert to taking the ferries instead of taking the Calabar Itu Bridge. |
Why wasnt her first son, Gabriel Billy, present? |
Congratulations. Are they students in public or private secondary schools? |
Read the comments on this board about the man with dreadlocks whose son was chained. Someone call him a "ganja ..." ... https://www.nairaland.com/3246138/celestial-pastor-chained-son-arrested |
What are your thoughts on dreadlocks? Growing up in Nigeria, it was generally assumed that people who wore dreadlocks were hemp smokers, hence it was not an acceptable hairstyle. As a matter of fact, I doubt if I knew of any educated/professional woman that wore dreadlocks. One of my college friends once told me that one controversial lady disapproved of this hairstyle and would call for deliverance on those with dreadlocks. Times have changed, in America especially, women are rocking it confidently defying stereotypes surrounding it and daring corporate America (Black Enterprise Magazine publisher, Earl Graves stipulated that none of his employees should wear dreadlocks) like this woman, https://www.yahoo.com/beauty/high-school-suspends-racist-hair-policy-175133092.html What are you thoughts? |
onatisi:Da, not necessarily true. Abroad, peer pressure is very common (drugs, alcohol) and with no parental guidance, some of these kids could fall prey to these temptation. It happens really, so dont overrule it. It's better for a kid to be under the guidance of their parents than to fend for themselves. |
But was he a cultist? |
Biscute:Press reports. |
Ete, at times, what options do you have in Nigeria when you are not paid for months at a time and there is no electricity at home? It's normal to jet out of the country when faced with such dismal prospects. |
