Back 2022, dollar was 700-730 in blackmarket. Bta in Bank was 440-460.
You then applied through the cbn site for bta of which you could buy each quarter yearly.
Yeah it made sense as the difference between official and blackmarket was about ₦300.
Early 2023, cbn rate then merged with blackmarket, all became ₦700. What was then the point of applying through cbn for bta? Don't forget you will also pay bank charges. At the end of the day, it only made sense to just go to blackmarket.
Infact, me personally abandoned my last application for $4k.
As far as CBN rate is merged with blackmarket, you loose money buying bta.

Since January 2023, no one has bothered to buy bta. So who gets it in cash? Certainly not you or me, not to talk of whole families as you claim. You cannot even buy if you are below 18 in the first instance.
Back then, accepted some banks gave bta in cash eg acess bank, but gt bank will always pay into your mastercard. Eg on $2k if you require cash they will only give you $200, the rest will go to your card which you cannot transfer to another gt account but can only spend abroad. You cannot even withdraw the money from your dom account assuming you did not spend it all.
Anyway, the only people that may currently use bta are government officials. So the topic should be government bans civil servants from bta in cash.
Why will you apply for bta when official rate is thesame with blackmarket, you then pay charges to the bank?

The first and only time I met him was when as a UI student in the early 90s, I drove down from school to "trip" with my paddy in unilag. That was when riot started in unilag. We then stormed a petrol station along onipan, people were scared. There was heavy qeue due to fuel scarcity. Anyway all the tanks were filled including mine (mission accomplished ). Guess what, sowore and his gang paid for the petrol, I told them I was heading on to UI, they wished me safe trip and moved to another vehicle. I headed on to school, they went on to further protest at Ikeja.
Sowore has been consistent, he was SU president back then I think. ..

See, a guy called me last year, he got my contact off jiji, an organisation he knows needed my equipment for a period. I told him how much, we agreed, he ask me to put 100k for him. That is daily, as they were paying daily. I never till date have meet this fellow. But I was sending 100k daily to his account as his cut, and this was for a lengthy period. After it was completed, he hailed me as a correct guy, me sef hail am to bring more business. That is how he calls me, I offer the service, we both make some money. As I said, I have never met this guy and surely he has other such runs he does, but from my side, 100k daily to his aza. If it is for 1 week ie 700k!
I am patiently waiting for his first call for the year. Lol
Now imagine some people on higher levels doing such deals, but in this case it is $100k, even $1m, not naira as I was paying that guy.
