anyicash:Sigh... and the other 3,457 people that got beaten by police that day nko... Apparently God didn't hear their prayers... maybe next week's beating will do the trick ![]() |
stagger:Well, if Nigerians created jobs that pay more than N500/day, the Chinese won't be able to find anybody willing to take only N500/day. At least they are paying something. Our Nigerian employers of labor sometimes will delay paying salaries (and in some cases won't even pay until the person is frustrated and goes and gets another job). |
czarina:Copy copy is what eventually leads to making, as China has matured from making metal wind up toys (remember those?) to cellphones and bullet trains. Laughy laugh is what leads to a 58-year old country still importing rice and petrol |

... and how do people and police react when one wealthy madam or oga is raining abuses and slaps on a fellow Nigerian? We're getting hyped up because the man is from Lebanon, but it's the same thing: "the moneyed class can get away with many things", so this is non-news in my opinion. ![]() Horus:Heh heh, I could change the word Lebanese to Igbo, Yoruba, or Hausa, and it still would be very true. This country is not a sh1thole because of Lebanese activity, I can guarantee you that... I'm no Lebanese apologist, but the worst abuses on Nigerians is by Nigerians, let's be real. No we can't go there and try nonsense because fundamentally, they and their government love themselves, in a way Nigerians and our leaders don't love Nigeria or Nigerians. |
eyinjuege:Agreed. But it's a rare child who wants to take over their father's business and run it, whether its engineering, oil, banking, or transport. Even the lawyers or pastors son (e.g Falz, Fela, respectively) wants do to something different from his dad. If they take over dad's business, they will forever be in his shadow ... besides their inheritance is already assured (hopefully, they have already been given shares in the company by their dad), and the business is likely going to name a long-term employee as CEO to run it after he transitions. |
Holyfield1:My friend, those who visit Instagram to see their pages are not complaining. People who don't want to see their life should not click on the topics that have their names. ![]() The fact they don't have to work, but they choose to work - especially outside their father's company - says a lot about them. But the attention has been building their brands, they are making money (endorsements, dj gigs, music singles, etc), trying to have an identity apart from their dad, and having a great time in the limelight. Much better than being the child of rich parents who just party, do drugs, and waste papa's money. If they are able to pursue their own dreams, given the benefit of not starving because of their background... well, isn't that what parents are supposed to do? Provide a good platform for your child so that they can live a good life. Extra points if your kids are entrepreneurial and pursue what excites them. |
Damn... but why are some guys so heartless? |
Yinxies:Is it hard to keep ones trash until one leaves the bus? If passengers want clean buses, passengers should not litter. How about that? The same people complaining will be the first to rip recharge card or drop gala nylon in the bus. |
"A prophet is never appreciated in her country..." This is a highly-educated, highly-connected, highly-successful person, and all people could do was bring her down. She's been one of the most effective ministers Nigeria ever had, but now we've frustrated her (and many like her) away from serving her country. We say we want good leaders, yet we either don't appoint/elect them, or we harass them till they just get up and leave. Kudos Aunty Ngozi... but please try and finish that dam in Aniocha South LGA... your townspeople have not had water for decades now... |
Heh heh... the nice thing about freedom of speech |
AMEN!!!!! It MUST fail, so they will quit using national carrier as a means to steal. Does the average Nigerian care? I sure don't... I'd rather have light 24/7 and good roads than any stinking national carrier. Use the money for useful things, not buying aged planes that won't be maintained properly. |
bedspread:You know, even "chosen" ones eventually die. Or you do you know of any immortals? These passengers were very very lucky, and the pilot(s) did their best to glide, dump fuel, and impact at a small rate of descent. If they'd crashed any harder, descended any faster, or had more fuel aboard, we'd be reading a very different headline. RIP to the two who died, and Godspeed to the injured. |
richeeyo: Lord Lugard, his superiors, and his officers are responsible for 1. intentionally keeping the North under-educated (which suited Northern elites who wanted to maintain illusion of control) 2. amalgamating two very different regions: one highly educated, prosperous, and developed; the other still stuck in the paradigms of 1500s; all in the interest of easier administration. From the start, income from the South was used to administer the North. 3. till and including independence, fostering the wishes of the Northern elite upon the entire amalgamation. Let's call a spade a spade. I'll be honest, many times I'm for one Nigeria, but times like these really make me reconsider. Sure a new country called South Nigeria (or Oduduwa, Delta, and Biafra) would still have its problems, but it would be light-years ahead of the current zoo. And honestly, if you look candidly at the problems facing Nigeria, it would be a dishonest person that ignores the damaging role Northern elites have played: whether its in their policy of "ruling Nigeria by the North", or refusing to educate their populace, or refusing to vaccinate their people, or resorting to religion as an opiate to distract their masses, so much so it's breeding ground for people who think nothing of blowing themselves up, cattle herders that kill with reckless abandon. I used to strongly disavow any attempts (including by the West) to split Nigeria, but ... I can't help but imagine that a South Nigeria would be so much more peaceful, sane, organized, developed, hopeful, and progressive. I'm not advocating secession, but it's seeming like a better idea with each passing day. Perhaps the railroad to Niger is the first step in that direction... they can have all regions North of the Niger, including Abuja. We dash them, after all it was Southern wealth that built it, and we can make another or retain Lagos as our capital, and make it first-class. If any Northern business man wanted, they could be issued a business visa, (like Dangote gets a visa to Tanzania), no problem. |
Looks like some people can't read or look properly: they are posing as conjoined... can't you see some pics with them separate? Mh... But Ethiopia... someplace I'd love to visit, and not just for the babes... ![]() |
Governor sir... don't you have a ministry of lands and survey that's supposed to manage/enforce the plots that people can build on? How about paying them so they won't shirk their duties? How about trash collection-services (Abi where should people put their trash?). It would also be nice if your government worked on drainage, tarring of roads (so there's less sand to enter gutters). Please do more governor, for that is what your people voted you in to do. To be fair, there's more infrastructure, and at least, the governor is visiting and seeing the situation first hand, unlike some leaders we have... |
We asked the last time that where is the money? Who don get alert?!
For where? This is as real as "bonus minutes with glo" ![]() |
amzee: Lanceslot:Sigh... if somebody is well qualified, and the only thing missing is NYSC (which is pending in a few days/weeks), why won't she get hired before? Her official start date may be after graduation, but her hire date can be before that. Happens often enough that it's a non-story. |
Wonderful... so now we can expect that 10-year old haulage vehicles will still ply the road 10 years from now, making them 20 years old... And this ban does nothing about maintenance standards or existing old trailers plying our roads today. Of course the ban does not fix the roads or add pipelines or rails to keep these dangerous things off the roads. The ban also won't stop customs allowing import of anything so far you bribe them... after all 15-year old trailer+bribe is cheaper than newer. And the biggie: so far as you are Fulani and drive your old trailer from across the Niger border, nobody will mess with you. Abi kuo? ![]() Carry on people, business as usual. |
ok... I'll admit, the logo is snazzy... stylized eagle on a ribbon banner with the flag. That must have cost the Nigerian taxpayer $10-$20 million Now comes the hard part: will they pay pilots, air staff, ground staff, technicians, landing fees, maintenance fees, etc to keep this going? |
Fast car hits another car, transferring its momentum. Car in front goes faster over drainage, car in back loses momentum and tumbles into gutter. And we are here invoking angels... She's lucky for sure that physics worked in her favor... Perhaps if we put guardrails on highways, and cover up open drains, we won't have to rely so much on angels to prevent deaths. |
This is Phuket, Thailand... just as rainy and humid as here, yet look at the wonderful surroundings... Wish I could experience this here in Asaba, with the River Niger at our banks, yet all I see is mud, trash, and weeds... grandstar:And you say it like it's a bad thing? She's cute joor. ![]() |

Angelanest:Oh hell yes... for the Bible is filled to the brim with vengeance, eye for an eye... even Jesus (though he preached forgiveness) declared he would be coming back, kicking ass and taking names... ![]() |
CodeTemplar:Yes, just in time for the 2019 elections... ![]() But anyway, arrest is arrest... hopefully they won't be released after elections... |
Ki ki ki ki.... welcome to the ranks of those who depend on government for their salaries... current teachers and civil servants haven't seen their pay, yet an ex-boxer expects this same gov't to pay him... on a long tin. ![]() |
THIS! This is what I would like to see Nigerians emulating. Understated wealth, with an eye towards preservation and uplifting those around you. My admiration for Mr Banky just went up several notches ![]() |
Too true... any babe that starts to stress person, is on her own. A lot of women are like that: "where are you, why didn't you call, where are u going"? Insecurity... not attractive at all. Guys if you really like a lady, but you start getting interrogated/interrupted: advice her that you like her a lot, but you also have things you need to focus on. If she's not cool with that, next, abeg. That's why I prefer professional ladies that are also busy too, they don't have idle time to be thinking about where I am or what I'm doing... |
3k for son's food. Yet she has money to buy smartphone for Instagram, plus the data... SMH ![]() |
We don't need a national carrier. Spend the money on providing cheaper jet fuel, 24/7 electricity, enhancing airports, and lending every support (diplomatic and financial) to Arik and several others. A national carrier, given the government's past record, is a sure failure. This would be the 3rd (or is it 4th) attempt to resurrect a dead eagle. |
This Elsie is looking better with age... I'm so happy for Basketmouth finding such a beautiful, calm, and loving wife. HBD and continued joy in your marriage! |
