Goes to show you never know what's happening, beneath that façade of smiles. I was also shocked to read about another man killing his wife and three children (one unborn), then stuffing them in a fuel tank: https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-45225183 |
MosesAlex:Yes, that is also an option... |
BabbanBura:Which kind leading questions are these? Obgeni ask the tin you wan ask ![]() |

velocity25:There, fixed that for you. In my own state of Delta, our politicians no day carry last for stealing |
OkpaAkuEriEri:Sigh... after seeing that the players in this movie are from locations like Nasarawa and Kogi... how this one take consign afonja? ![]() |
Baaaaaaaaaaadt guy ![]() I'm not one to say this usually, but the way forward is to remove the twins' pregnancies. It's a hard decision, but they are only 16 with a lot ahead of them; they can't afford to care for these children and we might end up with more unwanted babies. |
teckmore:He is one of the more prominent traditional rulers in Nigeria, and his news concerns a lot of people. (I'm not Yoruba BTW, but the mod is probably right in that a lot of people are interested in this) |
Nah mate... a black person would have had 6-20 bullets in him by now for all that resisting and shouting. But what do black people expect when we don't even treat each other with respect in our own country. So the dude is not used to being treated like a black person. Ey yah... |
Looks like all we need is catfish and beer! ![]() |
Nigeria's is practically oyinbo and Canada's is dudu. It is well sha. At least Burkina Faso, Zimbabwe and a few others represented. ![]() |
... and people will be asking me to help accident victims... It's really sad that in Nigeria people actually get punished for doing good. ![]() |
Madam, no disrespect, but if you hang around me for 2 months... you will slim for sure If you know, you know ![]() |
Prophet prophet... always prophesizing about inconsequential things... Prophetize about when Naira go beta, when we'll have light, or when small rain won't turn our towns into rivers. |
Dacronym:Sorry oh... but not my fault. It already reached page2 (abi na 3 sef) by the time I replied. |
mrjaydee:You dey mind am? Forever 16 yinmu |
SMH at these closet misogynists who feel the need to slut-shame when there's not even any sign of slutting. So because of the dancing at 2:30 or is it at 4:05, you guys are abusing somebody's mother? I thought she did something really crass by the way you were all ganging up on her. Didn't your mom dance like that at somebody's birthday party when you were growing up? What is bad in it? Mtcheeew! To be honest, I came to see twerk... as I love watching our ladies. But all I saw was some church dancing sturvs ![]() |
At least she acknowledges the reason for the showing off. It's a real problem all over... recently rich people flaunt it... but you'd never see old money (like me*) being so flashy. *In my dreams abi? ![]() |
Bluezy13:1. Commercials feature popular people that will sell. Our music artists are way more recognizable around the world than most of our footballers. 2. In most commercials, the artists wear all kinds of gear: sometimes they wear football uniform, sometimes mechanic shirt; what is the need for comparison with Drake? |
Wait, a white man borrowing a black kid phone is viral? When white cops stop shooting black people, or white people stop calling the cops on somebody for being black, or banks give fair interest rates, and TV stops portraying most black people as ganstas, or Wall Street hires more black people, and blacks are not punished more severely for the same crimes... maybe then we can talk. |
bobokeshington:Heh heh... in so doing watch Lagos state lose 70% of its IGR ![]() |
RIP sir... It's too bad you went all the way to London to die. Now we have to spend more money to repatriate your remains. All the money being spent by gov't officials abroad can pay for 2 or 3 excellent specialist hospitals, staff and medicine. We have brilliant minds in the medical field, but they've all gone to seek greener pastures. I'm not wishing anyone ill - since everybody will pass one day - but I have a long list of people who I'm sure will end up dying in London; it includes most of our senators, governors, and especially PMB, given his penchant for regularly scheduled visits. Not one of them seems to think about posterity: leaving behind a legacy that benefited their people. |
Congratulations!!! Making us proud. I wonder how the app works. yourtotalneeds: bobnatlo:I just hope Nigeria's wahala doesn't crush these girls' ambition, like it does to so many promising young ones. |
All these people hating on her, saying "so?", "who knows her", "her career is dead" Yemi has tons of fans all over the African diaspora (from Cameroon to Haiti, Tanzania, US, UK, and even Belgium I hear), especially among the young, and as you can see she has also captured the hearts of Francophones. I'm aware of lots of videos from around the world of people practicing her dance steps and listening to her music, so she's quite relevant worldwide. I can't say I enjoy her music - it's just not for me - but I appreciate what she does and the fact that it many people enjoy it and can relate to it. Nigerian artists like her are the true ambassadors of Nigeria's growing cultural influence around the world... not those old men PMB has been appointing. It's because of people like her Nigeria's image around the world is getting better. We are slowly taking our place in people's minds and hearts as a place to be reckoned with (I just wish we would get our industrial capacity in order - but Dangote and my Onitsha moguls are working on that). I'm extremely proud of Yemi, as a Nigerian, and as a black person. I'm also proud that one of my own sisters is bringing positivity to this world, and is living an incredible life due to her hard work and dedication. As always, we don't appreciate our own. |

Yes, a will is advantageous to your children, whether adult or small. As trixandra already mentioned, the 10% for probate is really estate tax. See this comment from https://www.nairaland.com/2595210/how-avoid-paying-10-estate "Estate Fees in most state of Nigeria is usually 10% of the value of a deceased assets. It is paid to the Probate Registry before a Letter of Administration or Probate of a Will is granted. Once a person dies, his survivors can only access his wealth particularly money in the bank after they have paid the 10% of that sum to the government. This is excluding the cost of advertising and other expenses to be incured in processing the Letters of Administration." Also see https://www.nairaland.com/3399455/10-things-should-know-writing and https://www.nairaland.com/2784690/3-ways-secure-property-event I'm not saying you should avoid tax, but you can research how to legally minimize your tax burden. It's probably too late for your dad's will, so you'll have to pay your tax before property transfers to you. What I suggest you do - if you have children - is to create a corporation that owns your properties and investments, then make you, spouse, and children shareholders. You also name your children beneficiaries of your shares, so upon your passing (which will not happen until you're a nice ripe old age in Jesus name) your shares can be transferred without the probate process. |
modelmike7:You know, there are no specific educational requirement to lead in most countries... US, UK, Japan, China. What we need are leaders faithful to Nigeria - you can always hire educated people to fulfill goals. High education has not stopped our various Ministers, Senators, Governors from robbing us blind. |
People are complaining that N1000 is expensive, but this is from central Abuja to Airport. It's quite a far distance oh, and taxi will collect not less than 3k for the trip. The trouble is you would still have to pay taxi from your home to the station... We should be happy that OBJ, GEJ and PMB saw it from conception to completion. I just hope staff will keep it clean, and gov't will bring money to maintain it. |
baby124:Heh heh you're right... hopefully the gas will leak slowly. Usually though, the gas is stored in multiple chambers/smaller balloons within the big one so the chance of rupturing all should be small. But you bring up a good point. If it's explosion you're worried about, Helium is very safe, that is why it's used in party balloons. Hydrogen (used in the Hindenburg) on the other hand is very volatile. Hydrogen is what gives petrol and natural gas (and other hydrocarbons ) their explosive capacity. Helium doesn't even burn - it's that stable. |
This is not racism... it's common sense. Nigeria isn't exactly known in the news for being honest, developed, or corruption-free. Between my brothers duping people online, defrauding people in person, carrying drugs, and so on, the first thing on my list would be to exclude Nigerians from anything I do, especially online. We all have a long way to go in fixing up our image, and it really starts with improving our own economy. It's not that the world doesn't like us, but our own leaders don't like us. |
baby124:Its weight is supported by the large amount of helium it carries (like those birthday balloons). The engines mostly serve to push it. Not entirely sure how they make it rise and fall (perhaps they release helium from compressed tanks into the balloon so it floats, then recompress the helium back into the tanks so it falls). Jiang:This is likely for hauling cargo to places ships or rail can't reach, or supplementing cargo planes over shorter distances e.g. it would be great for correspondence/contracts/letters and small packages between Lagos and Abuja, but not Lagos to Nairobi. Unlike a jet engine that consumes fuel, the majority of helium remains in the balloon after the flight, so there should be a negligible refill cost. There's the cost of powering the engines that make the aircraft pushing the aircraft, but those could be powered by batteries... I'm really curious to read more about this. |
IMASTEX:No nah... one year to know they girl, two years to gather once your mind is made up. |
