unlawful law passed by the Kano House of Assembly
How is a law passed by lawmakers "unlawful"? They are the sole body vested with the power to make laws. I suppose they could argue about his ouster Unconstitutional, but I fail to see how removing a traditional ruler is Unconstitutional.

See below what $2.3M can fetch you in Virgina, USA; plus you get a serene environment, constant light, good healthcare, and all the other benefits of living abroad. You can then use the $700k change to travel to Nigeria nearly 200 times (business class)

There's zero justification for the highly-inflated prices of these new houses: cement, block, sand, gravel is not that expensive. Roofing tiles, parapet, furniture, railings, paint, nothing excessive in their cost. Even the land sef, truth be told, is waiting to be flooded in the next 10-20 years. It's just overhyped.

No, but the money it signifies, will allow you to walk in the midst of SARS, police, kidnappers, village people, skull miners, and even BH unscathed. Just throw small change in their direction and watch them all bow like reeds in the wind.

Get them arrested and charged to court, the law will take it's course.
Work will be going on on project site while matter is in court
Very well said. However consider: after you mix concrete for the day, they will come and harass your workers and chase them away. All that cement, gravel, sand wasted. You can pay for police escort or vigilante to oversee the site during working house. If you go the court route, you will pay for lawyer. Police will need motivation to arrest and detain them - that is if they don't have somebody come and bail them after 2 days. At night, they may come and demolish some of your building.

After you win the case, who will pay damages and other costs? After most of us do the math, it's just better to negotiate with them and settle a lower fee. The omoniles know this - they've been doing this racket more times than any single developer.

All the above has happened to me, and the wisdom I got is: no matter what, money must drop, so choose your battles.

This thing happens all over south (SW, SS, SE), not just limited to Lagos... there's just too much open-eye in Lagos, but trust me, stories abound in other parts. (I haven't built in North, so I can't say).

No long story from me, but a quick summary of my experiences in in Delta State involves: car chases, having to carry plank anytime I hear motorcycle, jailing 4 boys and an old man, settling on many occasions with at least 100k, police chopping money from all sides, 2 workers being beat up, myself being slapped with cutlass during a fight, my building being demolished.

Now we don become padi padi, but those days enh...

Instead to go and carry cement or learn a trade, these miscreants will be using "na my papa get am" to disturb people. No wahala, in 20 years, there won't be new land to sell.

Shey the government is the one littering the place kwa? Why don't the traders themselves organize the place so at least it's not a trash heap?

And of course people are posting pictures from another part of the country... doesn't change the fact that Aba needs to clean up its act. Many Abians have come out to say the place is a dump and the state government is not doing its part.

Let us concentrate on cleaning up our own image so nobody can talk trash about us - instead of comparing which region is more trashy.

does it mean that is only Ibos that do blood money, some of these wealthy men and women in Nigeria shed blood before they acquire wealth, Do not be deceived

I Wanted To Do The Same Thing They Did, But I Refused To Do It
Blood money does not work. It doesn't work in Americas, Asia, Europe, Indian subcontinent... and it doesn't work in Africa.

People can steal, do shady deals, and use padi padi for sure, but the fact remains that most genuine wealth is some variation of take something/idea, add value to it, sell it to those derive value from it, retain profit. Lather, rinse, repeat. Mr Adenuga has verified income streams. Should we also assume that MTN(SA) or Unilever(UK) or Toyota(Japan) companies did blood money to be where they are today?*

That's how wealth is built... not with imaginations about blood and spirits. Upon all the money rituals, this is the poorest continent.

*Technically Unilever did blood money back in the day: as the predecessor Royal Niger Company they killed a lot of people in the name of the Crown to subjugate our countries, but that's not what I'm talking about.

Wise from the OP.

But just imagine how an innocent buyer of that car could have been roped into getting stolen goods. But OP, I cannot come and drive hot car even if police ask. I will just report it and move on. Next thing they will rope you in.

I don't understand why those guys didn't just find one of their own to drive the car? Abi dem no sabi drive ni? First collect the papers from the car, lock the car, then go and change few details, print it, then come back and drive the car. If police stop you, your papers are "correct". Only trouble is you must find means to put another VIN and engine number (because the old ones are already registered as stolen).

It is disheartening to see nollywood stars going through hardship after years of helping us relax during our hard times by making soothing movies. Good gesture by the wife of the governor.
Wasn't it in 2016 this same actor was given Jeep worth 3.5M and 1.5M cash from Prophet Jeremiah Omoto Fufeyin? Why he no sell the car, join am to the money and build rental property?

Today again Mrs. Obiano helps him. A few years again, he will be back again for more. Think of what some smart people could do with 1.5M cash.

Nobody knows tomorrow - and stroke can come to anybody at anytime, but refusing to save or invest for your future... I don't know what to call that.

What do we call a person who - in spite of the opportunities given to them (in this case, actor/entertainer) - who choses to lavishly spend his earnings rather than invest them?

Why should "Nollywood assist their member?" Do we ask lawyers to crowdfund the ones who refused to save their income?

Good move by Mrs. Obiano sha...

But other Nollywood actors take note: don't live fake life. The likes on Instagram for that fancy vacay will not help you pay rent or buy medicine. Use your earnings to buy rental property or some other income stream as soon as possible. Make hay while the sun shines.

This means there would be room for any deceased monarch in the state to be installed or buried in accordance with his or her religion or belief.
Interesting, so throw away Yoruba customs, tradition, and mythology - in order to use European customs, traditions, and mythology. What's the fundamental difference from the Judaic pantheon and the Yoruba one?

They have almost 1-to-1 correlation:
- Supreme Being: Olodùmarè:Yahweh
- Agent for humanity: Òrìṣà(s)/Jesus
- Understanding and Prophesy: Ifa/Bible
- Minor intercessors between the two realms: Irunmọlẹ/Angels

Why is the oyinbo version more valid than my own?

I'm from Abia state a highly industrious state especially at Aba. But really it's not fair how this state has become a mockery in NIGERIA instead of the FG to support the state govt and invest in it cleaning up the state but rather choose to be a state of mockery especially in nairaland...then we wonder why people like Nnamdi kanu fight for a split in d country.
State governments and local governments also exist for a reason. Just one car from the governor's convoy can pay for cleaning up the drains. Another two cars can pay for creating toilets and dedicated cleaning staff salary for one year. Rather than the industrious of Abia to make their market the envy of the country, they'd rather spend their money on champagne and fine girls; forming big boy and spraying lavishly.

If Abia state government can allow its own Araria market to look like this, why should it be different under Nigeria or Biafra? This market has had a reputation for filth since before before...

THE GOVERNMENT OF NIGERIA DONT WANT TO BE INVOLVED IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF ABA TO A MODERN COMMERCIAL HUB BECAUSE ITS IN THE EAST..
It's not even matter of government. You can see that there is drainage that was built (presumably by govt). Covered drainage for that matter. But the traders and their customers have filled the place with their rubbish, and are complaining the drains are not working. At some pint you have to realize that it's up to you to keep your own environment clean.

What is stopping the traders from hiring people (if they don't want to do it themselves), to sanitize their own market? Then put a trash policy in place and fine people who litter?

You mentioned high number of manufacturers ... so with all that wealth, they can let their own market disintegrate into this? Maybe instead of wasting money on fine girls and pouring champagne on their wristwatches in clubs - doing big boy - they can once in a while pay for drainage clearing services.

So people are pissing in the gutter. Do you have functional, clean toilets in the market? Use some of your profits, build and maintain your toilets with dedicated cleaning staff. And the videographer is saying "Buhari brothers..." as if Abians themselves don't piss anyhow.

This is assault and damaging personal property. If I had the time, I would become a lawyer for the side chicks, so I can sue on their behalf and make money off all these angry wives.

Stop assaulting side-chicks... take your argument to your husband and report him to his family.

It's not side chicks that go up to married men and say: "hello bae, you're looking nice... can I get you a drink... can I get ur number". "NO, I'm not married oh..." or "We're going through some difficult times", or "No mind my wife... she's just there. I can take care of you".

Unfortunately, it doesn't matter what the wife looks like or what she can do in bed, or how well she cooks. If husband wants away match, it will happen.

Imagine being God: you've given people the ability to read, write, invent, create, manufacture, understand. Some (oyinbos, Asians, Indians) have realized it. Yet some (Nigerians in particular) constantly turn to prayer for you to do what they can easily do for themselves.

That's how my and my biz partner were said to be kidnappers. One guy was going around our estate bad mouthing people he was jealous of. As people in construction, we keep materials like rope (for tying and pulling materials upstairs, and checking that something is plumb), and cutlass (for clearing bush and cutting other things). That's how the rumor grew that we were kidnappers; we mostly keep to ourselves - though we joke a bit with people - are out by 6 or 7am, and don't come back till after dark.

One evening we came home to see our property packed outside... na so argument take start. If not for the grace of God, I for chop am that day - no evidence, no real analysis - just rumors. There's trowel, saw, hammer, pickaxe, wire, gloves, measuring tape, ruler, pliers... dem dey take ruler or trowel kidnap personhuh I tire for some Nigerians sha.

It was later I realized why our landlady had been praying so hard and loud around 4am everyday. I'm just grateful they finally saw through the guy, and now we are cool with everyone. I shudder to think how many people have been falsely accused and never had a chance to protest their innocence.

Please always say no to jungle justice; if you see it happening, please stop it and be the voice of reason. Even though police will collect their share from innocent people, it is still better than letting somebody be burned to ashes.
