Politics › Re: Sabo Nanono: It Is Unpatriotic To Sell 50kg Local Rice More Than N15,000 by nextstep(m): 7:37pm On Mar 02, 2020
Rubbish. Don't dictate to the market how to sell. People who overprice will not have customers. And customers should not kill themselves to buy what they can't afford. Let the market decide the price.

What is unpatriotic is people in government refusing to eat Naija rice, buy Naija cars, or even patronize Naija doctors.

I doubt...the amount of Chinese visiting Africa countries like Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Egypt, Senegal etc...and we have a lot of expatriate and Africans travelling to and fro from Asia and Europe to Africa...I doubt your point holds much water
Oh, there's a lot, but it is orders of magnitude less than the number of Chinese who visit Korea, Japan, Europe, Australia, USA. It's like for every 1 who comes to Africa, there's 100 that went to the aforementioned places each. Fewer chances.

That, and hot weather is not conducive to flu viruses (e.g. they don't cause issues in Summer)
Health › Re: Experts Ask Why Africa Seems To Have Few Coronavirus cases by nextstep(m):
Simple: hot weather and traffic.

1. relatively speaking, we have the lowest share of traffic, or reasons for anybody to visit. So fewer chances for a person carrying a virus to visit here.

2. flu viruses tend to spread in cold weather - e.g. you don't hear much about flu in summer.

Of course the thing might surprise all of us and decides it likes hot weather after all. sad

On a serious level, it's people messing around and eating wild animals that brought us HIV, Ebola, Lassa, and Conavirus.

Please let's stop this practice... who knows what we're breeding here in Nigeria with this love of bushmeat and snakes.

Agree with all OP said, but let's not forget that marriage requires 100% effort from both husband and wife. A caring husband would realize that his wife is a fully-fledged adult, and that ideally, decisions should be made together. The man may be the head of the house, but a head cannot turn without a neck (the woman)

Although we should not forget that a lot of the sellers are Deltans...
Also, we should be sure we have enough alternatives (goat, rams, chicken, pork, fish) otherwise the prices will rise astronomically.

I'm in full support... when was saying back in 2018... we should stop eating cow meat (or raise it ourselves) - I was laughed out of the topic. Let's see how this plays out.

Kick her out ! and do not mind if she is green, blue, red, yellow, white or Black.
You don't go to a country that is so religious as Saudi Arabia or any other country in the Middle east and start pouring out of your mouth things that are offensive to people's way of life there.
The same way, we Africans feel utterly offended when someone wants to promote perverted behavior such as LGBT life , the same way the Saudis get offended when you sing the way this woman sang in Saudi Arabia.
Yet they invited Nicki, and other western musicians/rappers to come and offend them? You do realize that Saudi has a blossoming LGBT scene, albeit underground and officially haram. Also Saudi is wink wink notorious for anal sex between straight couples. Try this excerpt from: https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2007/05/the-kingdom-in-the-closet/305774/

"Vibrant communities of men who enjoy sex with other men can be found in cosmopolitan cities like Jeddah and Riyadh. They meet in schools, in cafés, in the streets, and on the Internet. “You can be cruised anywhere in Saudi Arabia, any time of the day,” said Radwan, a 42-year-old gay Saudi American who grew up in various Western cities and now lives in Jeddah. “They’re quite shameless about it.” Talal, a Syrian who moved to Riyadh in 2000, calls the Saudi capital a “gay heaven.”

All I see is a country of hypocrites, just like our own, using religion to keep people in check.

You really do not know the crown prince. Read about him.

Despite the 'interesting' modern reforms, they haven't extended to include her actions. Also, Mecca is a holy site. She would still go down for it even if she were light-skinned and influential.
Well, they should clearly state what it was they found offensive. What was her crime? Rapping praise about Mecca women? There was no drugs, smoking, cursing, sex, buffoonery, slander, or blasphemy, or anything I can remotely construe as offensive. Unless all forms of singing or any dancing is banned in Mecca, I fail to see what she did to get special treatment.

Excess crude that was at 2.5billion in 2015 is now a mere 70million. What would have happened if Jonathan and Okonjo didn't save that amount? We would be 2.5billion in debt, in addition to the loans Buhari is piling on for us and our children.

Some people are just absolutely useless. But no problem, shebi most people wanted Mr Integrity 4x4? We dey here.

A Saudi woman who appears 2 be of African descent made a cute video rapping about Makkah & her culture using witty lyrics. The video went viral, she was reported to authorities. The twitter backlash against her is full of racist pricks like this person .. #لستن_بنات_مكة …
このスレッドを表示

After the video went viral an official twitter account representing Makkah region used this racist hashtag #لستن_بنات_مكة announcing that she and others involved in producing the video will be arrested for investigation. Claiming the video is offensive to people from Makkah.

Screw you @makkahregion. I am from Makkah & the only thing I find offensive is ur racism, misogyny, and ur war on a young woman & her artistic expression of her culture & her people. #لستن_بنات_مكة

Anybody still think this is not a racist reaction by Saudi authorities and by many on twitter...

No, it is not because she is black skinned. It is Saudi Arabia.
Yes it is because she is dark. According to Saudi artist Ms Saffaa (صفاء) @MsSaffaa:
"Had it been an affluent, well connected, light skinned Saudi influencer .... it would have been used in MSB's propaganda as a sign of progress and reform. Double standards & hypocrisy at its best."

I can't help but agree. The trolls aren't saying: "she's blaspheming and abusing Mecca", they're saying "she's black/African/somali" and therefore should be deported/executed/sanctioned...

Irony... they invited a black female rapper from New York just last year (who eventually declined). I don't understand how schizophrenic people function.

I won't even be surprised if we see some carry-de-doers in the North using this as a pretext to kill some fellow Nigerians.

Saudi invites a black female rapper from New York (who is often provocative in lyrics and outfits), and that's OK.
Saudi then castigates a black female rapper from Mecca (who is making uplifting lyrics and modestly dressed).

I'm really really confused.

Thanks to the Saudi authorities, many more people around the world will download and enjoy this video. Wetin consign me as per Saudi before? But I will download and enjoy this music many more times. It even has our Nigerian beats and some dance moves sef.

Nigerians gave Europe 2.6million Euros just to be told "no".
The others, in addition to the 3million in fees, gave a further 40million Euros in airplane tickets, hotel, food, transport and shopping.
(1/2 of 80,000 people times at least $1,000 euros).

Imagine what only 40million Euros annually can do in Nigeria.

Do you think u will be able to do much in terms of development? Its not as easy as we all think.
It took years for nigeria to get this bad nd i mean over 40-50years.
Fixing or developing will require more time.
True. But if the right people were in charge for 10 years, the progress towards greatness (while not complete) would be far greater than anything we're seeing nowadays. I'm not saying OBJ or GEJ were saints, but damn... the country was moving.

Nigeria had made such great progress from 1999-2015 on so many fronts: diplomatic, socially, economically (we were poised to be in the top 20 economies in 2020 based on our numbers. However, since PMB there's been an unmistakable regression on all fronts.

StreetFight:
I too disagree totally, it makes no sense even to a dog. But you agreed for the creation of an Agency for repentant militants, paying them monthly for doing nothing, sending them to foreign schools with government money and making several of them billionaires overnight e.g. Asari Dokuboh, Government Tompolo, John Boyloaf, Ateke Tom after kidnapping, raping and killing several Nigerians and foreigners.
Those militants (ostensibly*) protested against the government's maltreatment and ignoring of the regions that produce oil. By blowing up pipelines they brought the issue to the fore. They didn't go about killing citizens, ransacking entire towns, claiming territory, with an aim to eventually displace government and establish their own country.

I'm not a fan of amnesty in either case, but let's not pretend that militants and BH are the same. What FGN should be doing is undercutting the reasons for why people become militants: poverty. A person with a good job, hope for their future, and able to take care of family is not a good prospect for militancy.

*I say ostensibly, because most were just noise makers seeking appointment and money for their individual benefit.
