Family › Re: My Husband Doesn’t Want My Son To Come And Stay With Us by NoToPile: 10:54am On Mar 15, 2020
I find it strange that some men are not seeing anything wrong with this man refusing the boy from living with him even after the couple had agreed.

If it was his own son out of wedlock and this woman was worried about the influence he would have on her young daughter in this marriage would the responses be the same.

Last last most people are selfish.

Politics › Re: Exorbitant Estimated Electricity Billings! Post Your March Bills Here by NoToPile: 1:18pm On Mar 14, 2020
Slaquan:
As a foreigner I can now see why Nigeria has such poor power supply. No one pays their bills. Almost everyone who posted a bill had more than 100k in outstanding debt. If that is a common problem how do you all expect the utility companies to run the business?
You still dont get the problem, the estimated bills are too high.

If you have 30k per month and you pay 10k the remaining 20k is still added to the next month and it keeps piling, some house rents are even 20k per month. Prepaid meter users dont use up to that amount.

100k is easy to accumulate just within 5-6 months.

Its not about people not paying the bills, they pay a fraction. You dont expect people to pay 20k for darkness.

I met a debt of over 300k in my own apartment we rented for the 2years it was unoccupied, who will pay for it.

Stand your ground they are very stupid. Traditional marriage is done based on bride family choice, church marriage is to be determined by Grooms family. Should they insist, go for court wedding or get another wife.
Which culture is the bride from

Where I come from traditional and church is determined by the brides family.

If this is an intertribal marriage one has to bend for another.

If you and your husband did not tell both family members till it was time to move in I see no wrong in that.

If you ask me they overreacted.

As for this one you bought, its left to you to decide if and when you want to inform them.

YeeboMuslim:
You are doing well
Some people dont understand the tentacle effect of some things, A newborn admitted at the NNU at one lagos hospital needed blood and they started calling the banks of other lagos hospitals, they transported that pint from Island maternity to the hospital and it arrived around 11.20pm what would have happened if they didnt have there.

Its quite easy for people to type from their keyboards but if you have had to run helter skelter because of blood issue, or you have had a newborn needing blood or you are having a delivery and you need blood urgently and even your money fails you then people will understand that its not childs play.

The good thing is anyone who still wants to donate for the wife can donate
Health › Re: Court Stops Lagos Public Hospitals From Demanding Blood Donations For Childbirth by NoToPile: 7:18am On Mar 04, 2020
fkj950ax:
For those that didn't read it thoroughly, blood donation at General Hospitals in Lagos State hasn't being stopped.
COMPULSORY DONATION being imposed by the health authorities is what was stopped.
There are many births that do not require donations, and the husband and family are held at gun point to donate. You will also sign off saying it was done freely by you before birthing or surgery is done or the patient cleared to leave the hospital premises.
That's not how blood donation works.
How do you know a birth that wouldn't require donation when an uncomplicated delivery can turn complicated.
Health › Re: Court Stops Lagos Public Hospitals From Demanding Blood Donations For Childbirth by NoToPile: 7:11am On Mar 04, 2020
Lostz:
lies. they even ask you to pay before you donate to a relative.

are those doing the screening not working for the state at the expenses of taxpayers? same taxpayers you still want to pay for screening?

state paying means the screening should be done for free
Have you donated for a relative at a lagos govt hospital or have you given birth there before? They do not ask anybody to pay before donation at any lagos govt hospital, private hospital I dont know.

The screening is not paying the workers carrying out the screening, the screening is the tests run on that pint of blood, so you are paying for the costs of the tests run on that particular pint of blood which makes it certified safe for transfusion.
Health › Re: Court Stops Lagos Public Hospitals From Demanding Blood Donations For Childbirth by NoToPile: 7:00am On Mar 04, 2020
Lostz:
why must you pay for screening when you are donating free? the state should pay for that
You pay when you need the blood not at the point of donation.

Whoever is going to use any blood donated by anybody will pay the amount used to screen that blood.

If your relative donates and you end up not needing blood you dont pay anything, someone else who needs it pays.

You really don't expect the state to pay 7k for screening every blood donated do you?
Health › Re: Court Stops Lagos Public Hospitals From Demanding Blood Donations For Childbirth by NoToPile: 6:46am On Mar 04, 2020
Hian hope this wont lead to shortage, even with all the you must donate by pregnant women spouses theres still shortage.

When you get someone to donate its assured when you need you must surely get at least thats what they say at the hospitals

Lots of people donate and end up not having to use blood but its available for those who need it later and they will also donate to replenish the bank.

And the money you pay is for blood screening not necessarily for the blood.

I used lagos hospital for childbirth and I have seen the katakata this blood issue can cost, money will then become useless if theres no blood.

Loool, you too sign the undertaking noow. You think any family that has lost a daughter to domestic violence will overlook that statement.

What I find baffling is that you do not see anything wrong in what you said and thats worrisome. You are having a rethink about about the wedding because of her reaction to a statement you made and you think she wouldnt think deeply about the statement she reacted too?

You called off the wedding and you are now worried she has not said anything about it and that she has moved on, probably hoping she would cry and beg.

Some people do not take issues like this lightly and your fiancee and her family seem to be among that category.

Family › Re: My Wife Still Uses Her Maiden Name To Open Bank Account by NoToPile:
Shey you know the amount of stress involved in changing BVN, Bank account in some banks.

What if she has not gotten a new ID with the new name,

I know people that still use their maiden names after years of marriage for bank issues just because of these reasons, these things are hard in naija and some people dont want that stress.

Mine took months to take effect, after getting all the required docs and visiting the bank several times, the only reason I didnt give up was because I changed my first name too and I needed it effected if it was only surname I would just leave it.

So as far as I know its not even a situation to get worried about

When the govt remembers this place plenty houses will go, people have built on the surrounding land.

Back in the early 2000s it was an unwritten rule never to pass there in the evening, seems its safer now. Not much gory stories as before.

I don't know what you guys are arguing about but I guess it has to do with how you all were raised. What are your relatives coming to do in your house if not to visit and go? If your relative has accommodation problem, can't you sort them out if you can afford it? If you don't have the means to sort it out immediately, it's a different ball game. I don't think any woman would be crazy enough to ask her husband's family not to visit him in the house but when it comes to his family members coming to stay with him, it's a different thing all together. On the issue of people going to other people's pots, you guys need to have sense. The kitchen is a woman's office in the home and you don't have the right as a visitor or family member to just go into the kitchen to start serving yourself food.

Even if you don't have sense naturally, the moment you go to a married couple's house, you should at least pretend you have sense and respect yourself. Except the lady is the free type that askes you to go into the kitchen and serve yourself, you have to wait to be served.
The bolded sha grin grin grin

At least pretend to have sense. grin grin

Lots of immature comments, not surprised anyway a sizeable amount of Nigerian men dont believe their wives and children come first before their extended family afterall she's s just a wife.

Relations visiting - yeah for a very short while

Relations staying indefinitely - not advisable (it almost never ends well) especially with younger couples.

In Africa, we are used to each other.... We don't run away from our relations. Relocate to obodo ibo where even when one dies no one knows... Here our relatives are so important to us...
Two of my relatives are presently with me and I sponsor them and my wife is not complaining about it
Good for you, do you live in a self con with those 2 relatives??
Are you recently married?
The dynamics are always different.

You would have seen 'New couple ' in my posts.

Inlaws should stop living with new couples, most times they are still trying to get on their feet financially and in other ways ( maybe by the time they are far older, they would be able to tolerate their excesses) it always leads to issues.

I have never gone to my Sister in laws pot to dish food except given permission or I cooked the food, even as a lady.

I dont support long term visits the technicalities are too much abeg,

People are saying ordinary food, do we know their budget??

Food is not ordinary in NIgeria anymore.

I am sure that those mini buses can ply the routes of KeKe
Then those mini buses a.k.a korope should have been ready before the outright ban.

As much as you feel pain due to the implementation of this Okada restriction (which is a law anyway), you have to see the bigger picture; it is for the benefit of the state.

We need leaders that will do what is right for the state irrespective of whether the right thing will bring us temporal inconveniences

BTW the idea of Okada ban was mooted in 2007, temporarily implemented in 2011, and became a law in 2012... Between August 2012 and January 2020 is 9 years+.
Everybody is talking about okada.

Nobody is talking about keke, is there a law banning that too nobody has been able to answer that question.

My main grouse is that of keke, even the palliative measures cant take routes keke take.

Is there going to be a bus from Guinness- Allen, within Ikeja GRA, Doyin- eric moore, shitta- Bode thomas etc.

Would those buses ply those routeshuh

Thats the main issue.

Show me your tax card. I will show you the alternatives.

The hard truth is majority of those against this ban don’t pay tax to lagos state.
Say whathuh

What alternatives are there for keke routes, you expect a worker to trekk from Guiness to Adeniyi jones every dayhuh In fact the trekking starts from ashade. So its Ashade- guniess first before trekking to adeniyi jones. If you decide to pass express and not via dopemu, you are stuck at ikeja along or underbridge, you will still end up trekking to Adeniyi jones.

Bike I support but keke no.

Only thing is keke should be banned on the expressway which they hardly ply.

Sometimes you people talk anyhow and use instances that are not the same as example. If you read the first thread as far back as 2018, you will understand that this demonic ex has no respect for her marriage, has no respect for her or the husband. Him coming back now despite how the issue in 2018 was handled shows that he has ulterior motive . So you telling this lady that it’s nothing shows you’re not sincere.
Exactly, I read that thread back then and now this, that ex is out for something.
